It’s good to see that I’m not the only one who has had bad luck with Amazon refurbished, I haven’t gotten very much but I’ve had to send back what I have gotten because of it not properly functioning

I've only ever been scammed on Ebay one time in the 7 or so years I've bought anything. It was my own fault for not checking the ratings of the seller at the time, but I've bought countless refurbished items from them, and I've always almost always gotten new in box or like new anything whenever I was suppose to be getting a lower grade, JBL speakers and headphones have been ones that always go on sale refurbished and I've never had any problems!
Same, although seller ratings don't mean jack anymore. Ordered a quest 2 from a person with a 99.7% feedback rating and never got it, the scammer was insanely clever too. The listing was a "buyer pays return shipping" but instead of just not doing anything, they gave FedEx a tracking number. That means the item was technically "Shipped" but since there was no item, i had nothing to return. As for my Ebay Refurbished story, so far i've only bought one thing, Skullcandy Crushers. They arrived in perfect condition, in a clearly non-original box, but was still skullcandy branded, and it even had a few original accessories.
@grvyshiz I gotta get to know you rating or not to trust you, my ratings on the line too because someone could just rate me poorly based off bs on their end. But I always rate ones that I've had great experiences with, or even came back to, which I definitely have ones I've gotten things from for their protection and care of items
as someone who actually worked at a computer store I know for a fact that products having a recertified mark on it means 2 things it was a fully working return likely with an incomplete or damaged box or it came in for warranty repair as what they do is they have a stack of these re-certified items that they sent out for RMA claims and those that are actually repaired gets boxed and is then either added to the RMA pile or is sent out for sale at a discount.
I've used E-bay refurbish computer components for years. You can build a Ryzen 5800x, 32gb ram, and 3070ti for under $600. I've spent maybe around $150 keeping my pc updated with newer parts in the last 10 years after I resale the old components I'm replacing 👍
Considering just the CPU and GPU bought USED would cost over $600 that is an outright lie. The 3070 ti is around $6-700 alone refurbished. I've seen them over a grand refurbished as well.
@@Dee-tc7lo6-700$ for a 3070ti is a terrible price. They are selling at 350-450$ maybe 500$, but at that price you are better off with a brand new AMD card.
Refurbished was once good but now refurbished on Ebay just means that a corporation paid Ebay to be allowed to use the "refurbished" label and they rarely actually refurbish it and just clean off exterior dirt.
Everything he got was mostly fine, minus the $7 skull candy headphones, and the bit of dust on the pc fans. Ebay refurbished means that the seller provided proper documentation to ebay that they have been authorized by the company to sell fix and sell their products as refurbished.
In the UK refurbished seems to mean "we didnt check it and assumed it works", i suppose its less effort and cheaper to just ship stuff out and accept returns than actually cleaning testing and fixing issues.
You might want to make sure that gameboy pocket shell is a replacement shell. Nintendo actually made a model of gameboy pocket that came stock with a dmg gameboy style shell. It looks really good too!
I have the 32ohm version of the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro headphones you reviewed, and one of the best features of them is that beyerdynamic will sell you replacement components for every single part of the headphones. So you can pay $150-170-200 for them and keep them running and sounding great basically forever. Highly recommend them.
I feel like really good deals don’t exist anymore from anywhere but garage sales, or online classifieds with sellers that just don’t know anything about what they are selling. Back 5-10+ years ago there were actually good Black Friday deals, and some much cheaper refurb stuff. Now the prices are so close to new (or sometimes the same or more than new on sale) that you might as well just spend the extra 5% price to avoid used stuff. I feel like sellers are way more educated and now look for uneducated buyers that THINK they are saving a bunch of money.
I actually just got an HP Envy with i7 7th gen and 16GB RAM from eBay as "untested". And all it was missing, was an SSD and charger. I got the laptop for $75. And it works great!
The beyerdynamics like the exact model have been my daily drivers for a few years now and I really enjoy them. The ear cups and the headband have deteriorated once before but they are super easy to replace
Two last PCs I got for projects are refurb from 3rd party with 1 year warranty: Amazing condition, ran wonderful, and the company was well responsive. Would 100% recommend them - at least that company?
I'm always shocked when we see footage of Joanna and we see she's just holding the camera. The videos all look so steady that you'd think they have a big steadicam rig.
I love my DT770 Pros, I've had mine for a little over 2 years now. You're right about the audio, I use mine with a DAC/AMP which helps since I can boost the bass a little. I've never been a bass head though so I honestly don't mind. It works great though with Tidal for high quality music.
P. S. You should try to upgrade the RAM in the PC to 3200 and see if it supports it. Mine doesn't and is locked to supporting only 2999 (ir something like that).
I don't recommend skull candy wireless anymore. I bought a few pair when they were new in box at best buy on holiday special, and they had terrible battery life right out of the box on all sets I bought.
My Aunt and Uncle bought a Tineco stick vacuum a couple years after I bought my Dyson of of Ebay's referbished site, and my Dyson still works like its brand new, and their Tineco (which they payed the same as I did for my referb) is a piece of trash!
I bought a phone refurbished before and it ended up having data issues right as soon as the return window closed so that was a bummer, Nowadays its best to check seller reviews and all that, The ones i buy from tend to help you replace or refund you if you have a problem with your products
I had a horrible experience with eBay refurbished. I bought an excellent condition Samsung galaxy s22 for my mom as a gift. after receiving it, held onto it for a while before gifting her the phone. After she got it she notice on calls, there was a screechy sound that didn’t happen all the time but frequently. After taking the phone back from her the seller refused to replace it because 30 days had passed. eBay also wouldn’t give me a refund for the same reason. And the warranty doesn’t cover items that arrived broken. So I now have a $500 paper weight. That may not be your experience but it was mine for the first time purchasing on eBay refurbished.
I bought a 'very good' Galaxy Z Fold 3 from an eBay certified refurbisher and it was absolutely shit. Dead pixels all down the crease of the device and it had a (known) WiFi issue where it wouldn't let me turn on the WiFi at all. Sent it in for replacement and they basically said "you don't actually want this phone so we're just gonna refund you" and I was pissed. Spent an extra $30 to get an 'excellent' condition one and that's what I'm typing on right now. It's excellent. Don't buy from YY wireless.
I am currently using a set of the Skullcandy Grind refurbished and I am a fan. This is my first pair of wireless earbuds and I love them. Especially for the price
i have a rule ingrained in my head when it comes to refurbished and used computers and laptops or phones i reset phones if they are used or refurbished and i always reinstall windows no matter what for pre-builts it's usuallu to get rid of the bloatware and for refurbished or used you never know if they put a piece of malware intentionally on he pc or laptop
8:37 you need to compare prices somewhere and not just look at the "discounted" price vs "real" price Because these are 140€ or so brand new, so a 150$ for refurbished is quite the scam
My Ps4 broke not long after the PS5 came out but when you still had no idea when you were actually going to be able to get one. I bought an EBay refurbished ps4 to hold me over and it still functions perfectly fine. No complaints. Not that I use it much now.
If you had to choose which company would go with Amazon Renewed or Ebay refurbished? I'm looking for a Samsung Tab S8. Both companies have the same price in excellent condition. I've only purchased from Amazon Renewed, but I just learned Ebay offers a year warranty. Now I'm confused. Any insight would help.
Skull candy has been the only earphones I bought they are great for the price so no complaints I had a $25 dollar pair for a year before the earbud speaker burned out but I used them everyday 24/7
Yep, I can confirm since I have a pair of over ears that I had for over 3 years and still works (from brand new - Hesh ANC). They've become a pair of backup headphones for when my Crushers ANC2s run out of battery. lol I don't think the Hesh ANCs ever got an update yet since I still see retailers bringing in that model new.
@@gtijason7853 You've been lucky then, they can just stop working, and then the battery jump start procedure on youtube involves AA and wires. The Sesh ANC are more reliable, but less comfortable.
The thing about ebay refurbs is you aren't buying the item from Ebay the company.. You are buying the item from a third party that was given permission to enroll in "ebay refurbished program"... There are 2 types of sellers that would qualify for this kinda thing. The actual manufacturer of the item or a large volume 3rd party seller with "some" manufacturer/vendor connections.. Obviously direct from Manufacturer would be best , it's kinda a gamble with the Large 3rd party vendor probably the same as buying used... As all they need is to be part of a large seller account with "some" vendor connections..
3:26 Sure it is 😂 I just bought used rx580 (im poor from not so rich country) and i can play 99% of games and the only downside of (being poor) it is not being able to play the newer games on the high/ultra settings and the newest ones on medium 😊. And my processor isnt even that great: i have ryzen 5 3400G (i bought lenovo thinkcentre and at first i didn't even think about changing anything tbh because it was already enough for me but i had some issues path of exile so...)
That seems to be a Skullcandy issue. Mine do the same thing. I smack them and sometimes they work but it's not easy to get them both to pair. My Samsung branded earbuds I bought on Wish pair instantly.

6:23 oof you got scammed so bad. You can get keyboards 10x better than that Razer POS for like 1/2 that price .. and they're brand new, not used. That was a terrible deal.
The sad part I try selling refurbished N64 consoles without controllers and cords on eBay for about $100 each which I never sold one after spending few hours cleaning the dust, polishing the pin connectors, replacing the thermal pads as well made a option to mod it to play US and Japanese games. I did more refurbishing work on these consoles than DKOldies did with just one which is funny how one person can refurbished multiple consoles when most refurbished businesses can barely do one with a army of employees?
I think my uncle would be interested in that DJI Pocket. He has a Galaxy A52, but wants to shoot some vlogs going out to historic and scenic places on tours.
I got a 4k laptop with 3 year warranty for only 1200 bucks. They even upscaled my order cause they didn't have the one I ordered, (3070 laptop for a 3080ti). Was pristine.
I’ve never had issues but I also have only bought certified refurbished and excellent ones. There are a lot of categories that have a ton of very good deals (Sony headphones I’ve had good luck with)
I bought a laptop with suppose I had a touch screen but the touch screen didn't work and I sent it back and they charged me a restocking fee because they said I didn't want the item and even I wouldn't do anything about it so I lost 20%
Amazon also does not check to see if the phone is unlocked I got one locked to T-Mobile I have gotten MacBooks from eBay with a brand new top case and batt
I bought my Chromebook from an ebay refurbished seller, which was listed as very good, which I agree with and would say it was generally better besides one part that clearly had fall damage which bent the case around the volume buttons that I never use. 155$ for DT770? Holy shit they are expansive in the US than, DT770 cost like 150€ Brand new and are constantly on a discount down to 120€. Also, some mainboards come with a fairly powerful DAC onboard, my old MSI Z87 GD-65 came with a 250 ohm DAC on board, not the greatest DAC, but it could drive 250ohm. There is physically no reason to ever buy refurbished earbuds, especially not when the earbuds cost half an egg brand new. There are so many really strong offers at 60-80 bucks.
I was actually looking forward to seeing the PSP Go, so I'm pretty sad you never got it. Wonder how they didn't have the system but still had the listing for it.
So I have to say those headphones look suoer comfortable around the ear and over the head. I use the ps5 headset and like the floating feel when you wear them, but every 30mins of wear, I feel myself adjusting them around my ear some. They don't hurt. They just seem to always need adjusting, but these look like a pillow over the ear, lol. I'm not sure if they work with the ps5 or not, though.
You got ripped off on those DT 770 Pro 250 ohm, they're only $159 on Amazon right now, and the 80 ohm variant is $150. I bought a pair of 990 Pros used on eBay last year for $67, shipping included. Cable was no good, but I planned on doing the Custom Cans mini XLR conversion anyway, and they run just fine
I don't understand how the "first impression" of the HP PC is "positive". A "refurbrished" device, where they did not even bother to clean the inside nor the outside and did also not bother to give you a replacement for the missing screws is a big 🚩 for me. :)
Refurb item as a term has fell off, now instead of RMA/Display/repaired at factory items, you will just usually get someone's second hand doodoo with a alcohol wipe-down.

Interesting how expensive the DT770 are for you there, I'm in Germany and got mine for 110€. Still, great headphones
The 250's?
@@reecedrury4145 yes 250 ohm DT770 Pros at Thomann is roughly 155 dollars new
@@reecedrury4145 Yeah, the other options cost more or less the same though
My PSP Go just collects dust, not sure what I was thinking...its so tiny!
I bought certified refurbished SoundCore headphones on EBay. They were like new and in new retail packaging.
"We do have our RTX 2070, which is certainly a little bit of an older GPU"
*Cries in GTX1080*
you have a gpu????
The 80ohm version of the Beyerdynamic headphones sound more 'bassy' than the version you got.
I bought a Pixel 6 pro refurbed on eBay, was £100 cheaper & was literally like brand new, not a scratch
can confirm., white keyboard was a big misstake on my end
I bought Sony wf1000xm5 for $160 refurbished which is an amazing deal they came clean and looked new
Can you mention the seller name if possible
@@lntrgued they are even cheaper now. the company was secondipity
@@Temmie_gaming thanks man! I was about to buy from the same store, they have 98% positive reviews so
@@Temmie_gaming thanks, I was going to buy WH-XB900n from the same seller
@@lntrgued yeah I hope Austin checkes these dudes out in terms of referbished stuff
I’ve never had issues but I also have only bought certified refurbished and excellent ones. There are a lot of categories that have a ton of very good deals (Sony headphones I’ve had good luck with)
WE'RE AT WORK!.....Sure you are 😂😂😂
I bought a laptop with suppose I had a touch screen but the touch screen didn't work and I sent it back and they charged me a restocking fee because they said I didn't want the item and even I wouldn't do anything about it so I lost 20%
cool lie, bro
That IS weird! When you tried to open steam, I got unskippable ads!
Every time I see a Austin Evans video I learn something new
I was actually looking forward to seeing the PSP Go, so I'm pretty sad you never got it. Wonder how they didn't have the system but still had the listing for it.
Hey Austin. You ever hear of the observer effect? It worked BECAUSE you pointed the camera at it. 😂
I love to buy refurb stuff from ebay. Got my xm4 and xm5 refurb from there and they were perfect for super cheap compared to new.
Same, payed way less for my XM4's and havent had any issues with them thus far.
Eaby refurbished is the best you just need to know what to look for tbh I've saved hundreds on it.
Windows updates happening in the background would cause Steam issues. That could also account for the slower speeds you were seeing.
Best ad incorporation ever.
I don't understand how the "first impression" of the HP PC is "positive". A "refurbrished" device, where they did not even bother to clean the inside nor the outside and did also not bother to give you a replacement for the missing screws is a big 🚩 for me. :)
7:47 I thought you were gonna say “fairy god parents!”
Refurb item as a term has fell off, now instead of RMA/Display/repaired at factory items, you will just usually get someone's second hand doodoo with a alcohol wipe-down.
its 550 buck pc the fans are loud WTF sound of the one fan is a bit picky right
are you using microsoft edge ??
Yea you are kind of the quality control on those earbuds, they are either like new or you have to send them back.
