As a former goodwill manager for almost 5 years, I have a pretty good idea about how goodwill gets these items in the first place. A lot of the nice tech items would get dropped off by older parents who are A) sick of their adult childs shit so they get rid of anything they deem to be a distraction for said adult child. B) They are completely unaware of what it is and simply haven't seen it be used in a year or more. So they get rid of it during spring cleaning. Or C) The owner died and the person donating is just getting rid of it because they are responsible for cleaning up after.
So basically another man's trash is another man's treasure noted. This segment is the only one he made money gotcha former manager. A Money B money C money.
I kind of got that vibe from goodwill after finding supreme and stussy items for like 7$. I'm like, somebody's son in their basement is gonna be like "bro that's my shirt!" And they're gonna be pissed at their parent/s
bwahahaha OK you don't shop on there much. I've been a regular for over a decade as I'm a reseller... seriously, they'll sometimes hit you for $30 postage on a 1lb box. Always check first!!@@xXVibrantSnowXx
What is worse are the guys who go shopping and buy all the nice clothes and shoes to resell at crazy prices meanwhile the poor person in need of some new clothes or shoes for idk a job interview are gone and only rags remain
Unfortunately this is the issue with TH-camr doing videos like this. It’s why I stop watching metal Jesus rocks because the dude keeps on making videos about “oh get this game on so n so for cheap before it goes expensive” then everyone goes out and get it and try to flip it… its sad especially for us normal poor people who just wanna buy something that’s cheap.
The optiplex 760 was such a throwback to when I first started getting into PC hardware. I was using it for school and animating but it could barely run blender. It had a 4770k and I looked up graphics cards and ended up with some $50 MSI radeon HD card and that's when my addiction began lol
Having worked in a goodwill, I can confirm that the HDDs and SSDs get like... Turbo wiped seperately, if not outright destroyed. Same with unmarked DVDs, VHSes, CDs, etc. Anything that might contain personal information or, more importantly 'illegal adult material', is destroyed. Goodwill is not taking chances with potentially getting a predator's wank stash lol.
This video was a lot of fun. Watching Ken geek out at some of the items was cute. I wish I had a Goodwill like this in Australia 🇦🇺as I would have had a lot of fun bidding on items.
I think stores like salvo’s Vinnie’s and lifeline would be our closest. Picked up a couple of Atari 2600 games from salvo’s online for when the 2600+ comes out. Good thing that if there are multiple stores you only have 1 order. Also grabbed some games from my local lifeline recently.
A friend of mine gave me a system with a 4930k and 1060 6gb as payment for waiting in line for him when the 3090 launched. A few months later, I built my own system around a 5900X and 3090. My single-core Cinebench score was higher on the 5900X than the multi-core score of the 4930k
I'm old enough to remember using a Mavica as my very first digital camera experience, it was mind blowing! And that was back in 1997, I think it took VGA-res pictures... But man, when you compare the convenience compared to taking film to the photo place and waiting a day or two to get pictures back (of which at least 50% were blurry or not framed correctly), it was a real revolution!
Mine was with a samsung digimax in around 2002! I don't remember the model, i was pretty young and it's long gone. My parents later replaced it with a digimax s500 that lives to this day x)
If I'd somehow gotten my hands on that Mavica as a kid, I would've been pretending it was some kind of sci-fi gun and the floppy disks its fancy energy magazines.
As someone who lives in Charlotte and been to the store.... Nothing in there is worth the price they were asking. They were selling used Rasp Pi above new market value.
I dont think that was the original battery that came with that HP laptop. We used to could buy better batteries back in the day where they were pretty much double the size of the original one. thats what looks like someone had done there also. great find.
Matt: IM gonna take your credit card away!" Always Matt, looking out for Overclock Media Also Matt: Do we need to have EVERY SIMS EXPANSION PACK... oh I see one I want... LOL
Austin! I volunteer putting on reto gaminging events at my local library, you didn't mention them but kids these days go crazy for those kinect games! We only have a few of them and sadly weren't able to get any off the 360 store before it shut down. You should do a video showcasing which one's you got lol
In all honesty, I did get a fat ps3 on auction from goodwill for about $80 on eBay, fully working, with Assassins creed 1-3 on disk and 2 controllers. About ~$3 shipping from VA to FL, so it wasn’t bad at all. Depends on the platform and store of purchase I guess
Something must have changed since you bought that. I bought a Wii game and the shipping was like $10 and also had a "handling fee" of $2. Handling Wii games is so arduous, apparently. I thought the handling fee was the shipping price or I wouldn't have bought it. The shipping for nearly everything on there is $10 or more. Something heavy like a PS3 has shipping that's like $30 or $40. I live in SC and my game shipped from VA, not that far and most of the stuff I find there is either in VA or GA.
As someome who works for goodwill, you see a lot of things donated and wonder why. Someone donated a Virtual Boy with 9 games. It had the 2 mario games and Wario Land.
This entire video is a total geek out for me, i even had 5 OG iPads at one point because nobody wanted them, but there's no similar thing to a Goodwill Grid in my country :(
You could probably get an old play store version for that tablet thing. That Dell OptiPlex 760 looks identical to one someone in my family still has and uses to this day, a Dell OptiPlex 755. It was overrun with programs and viruses, but after fixing it, it's working like a charm, but then the HDD wiped itself of all data, but I just reinstalled the OS and now it's working again and has been for a few months now.
Austin is gonna freak when he sees what some of those old NCAA Football games go for now. 13 will continue to have a big community until EA actually makes a new one.

Great video I’ve been watching you for a couple months just wanna say thank you you are my favorite TH-camr and Im trying to be in the field of tech when I’m older so thank you
I can totally understand why some people drop something good to goodwill. Second hand market is full of lowballing offers and frauds. Dealing with people in there could be annoying. They drop items to goodwill will make these awful buyers or sellers have to do something good to obtain these items. This is why.
I took a Sony Mavica and a few Floppy Disks to my Senior Prom back in 2006. Had it hanging around my neck looking like I was the coolest in my teal suit coat and khaki pants.
Awesome! I own a camera similar to the floppy disc one, a Sony Mavica FD71- 2.5mp. Actually took not that bad of photos at the time, until we got a Kodak camera which ended up blowing it out of the water for clarity. Amusing part, is ours still works as well.
We used to hand out company Mavicas to everyone back in the day; someone dropped a vacation request, "Here, take a Mavica with you to save all those memories."

It varies heavily. Goodwill has really hit or miss shipping depending on the size.
that's true! I've been pleasantly surprised a few times with large items costing much less than I anticipated. @@Uchurch89
That’s been a rule on eBay since forever.
I loved the ending Matt trying to chastice you for buying a bunch of games then he just goes "ooh I see one I want"
Austin is back at it again exposing good sites to shop for discounted used and new tech. Now goodwill won’t have good stuff anymore.
Right?! He showed screenshots of Classic Macs and Apple IIs... which now cannot be found on their eBay page.
Austin is on a mission to make all older tech inacessible

Wow, they packed their shipments 10 times better then GameStop.

The edit for the 1st gen iPad was hilarious. Loved it 😂😂😂😂

I am loving the reactions to the old tech, the nostalgia feeling is real!
I was in love with the DV series back in the day. The 9000 was just so good.
Austin is having a techgasm today!😂😂
I want to see Austin bring these old apple products into his local apple, asking if they can help him update them.
Oh man, this means The Grid is gonna get some new traffic 😅 so long deals 🤣❤ It really is a great eBay store!
Is it 'strange' that Austin and Phoenix Resale both drop a video about The Grid on the same day????
I live by the physical location and that was my first thought as well.
a few months later it will be back to normality. We got small attention spans
@@johnnynoname2259I was thinking the exact same thing lol
I got second hand embarrassment from that drop

I have one right now. Highest quality is one image per disc...lol
Love the editing in this one 😂
As someone who lives in Charlotte and been to the store.... Nothing in there is worth the price they were asking. They were selling used Rasp Pi above new market value.
A few years ago at the old location you could get some really great deals. Remember getting gameboys for $10. Not anymore unfortunately
15:30 I actually thought that it was going to go KABOOM after 10 seconds had they waited. I wouldn't even have waited myself.

HAHA The complete 180 from matt... "I see one I want" lol
This video was awesome. I'd love to see more just like this one!
15:32 if he plugs that pc in again we're getting "It's all gone again" video.
This was one hell of a great video well done austin and team
I had the same laptop with a similar battery back in the day. It saved me from having to find a wall outlet in uni.
My goodwill usually has some good stuff especially video games 😊 I have a playlist on all the cool stuff I found
4:00 From what I remember the picture quality on that Mavica was so good.. I mean ridiculously good for the time.
I think goodwill is the same as pawn shops. Sometimes you find a great deal but most times its overpriced good.

5:55 the most loudest efect i ever hear
