    Its a rather dumb assessment to call a guy a "coward" because you never saw him get in street fights. Hogan wanted to be successful at what he did. Part of that is being responsible on your off time, and not going to jail because you are constantly getting into fights, getting drunk all of the time, and other shit. If Dr. D can do the math.........its a HUGE reason why Hogan became so big, and he is remembered solely for slapping a reporter.

    • @chrisconley8583
      @chrisconley8583 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hogan “became so big” because he had a gimmick and a routine that Vern Gange and Vince saw that would put eyes in front of TVs and butts in seats.
      A crazy entrance followed by working the crowd, the match starts, It doesn’t look good for Hogan, epic comeback, work the crowd, off the ropes and a leg drop, 1,2,3, and work the crowd then do it all over again the next day in another city.
      Same routine night after night for decades. That’s why Hogan was “so big”.

    Hogan was not a coward for not wanting to fight idiots on the street. If anything he was smart, as he avoided criminal prosecution, as well as civil liability. There was nothing to be gained by doing so. The old days of Eddie Graham wanting his employees to go into bars and start fights to demonstrate that wrestling was real, and wrestlers were real fighters are long gone. Anyone with half a brain was already aware that it was nothing more than stunt fighting. Dave, maybe you are jealous because Hogan reached financial heights that you could never come close to and you had to work a regular job after you got the boot. No matter how nice you were to Hogan, everyone looks out for themselves, because no one else will. P.S Stossel laughed all the way to the bank, to the tune of $400K.

I think D might be underselling Hogan's ability because Hogan screwed him over. Hogan was trained by Hiro Matsuda, so he had to have known some shoot holds and had some wrestling ability. Also, I don't think Hogan would have been so successful in Japan in the early 80s if he was a punk.

    When I did wrestling training this is who I watched totally badass heel I watched now he talked and worked and he was so bad ass he would rarely team with heels cuz he liked nobody Haha that's how I wanted to be because there is nobody in wrestling like that but unfortunately for me I had to stop training due to several issues and the school being a 4 hour drive one way so it was tough but I studied him because of a quote in brets book schultz told Bret to be a heel u gotta barley survive u dont get heat squashing a guy u get it by barley surviving and winning by the skin of your teeth that's how to get heat... no good leaving a guy laying like everyone does...anyway that stuck with me and I wanted to wrestle and talk like him but it wasn't to be but for any up and coming wrestler watch how he works and talks hes basically an earlier stone cold but worked like a heel always so underappreciated of a worker all u ever hear about is him slapping stossel but man could dr d go he was awesome

    After David Schultz, it's a miracle that ANYONE ever bothered to protect wrestling again. The business was bad to him in return for his loyalty. Perhaps it was that complete lack of trust in the art form itself that turned wrestling into the cartoonish version of what it used to be.
