Remember the Black Swan in Leith with Bobby the barman. Scotch pies with beans and black pepper on top, games of pool with Frank .. both of us stoned on hash. Anyone remember Gento ?
@@JohnBrown-yk1sg Do you remember all the faces from Leith that drank in the Central, The Duke, Tam O'Shanter and all the pubs around there and then down the Shore. I will never forget the day Pal got shot dead by Jackie outside the Alan Breck. We were heading there ans changed it to the Duke at the last minute. The sirens were heard almost instantly and Auld Murph came in and told us the news. I don't know if we would have been able to prevent that if we had just gone there.
I love these stories as certainly i remember these days well.Betty Moss certainly was a character. Many a "penny was spent" aiming down at the Forth ! I certainly remember the Black Panther at Fairleys (Shore) Not many people believe me. As for a Sunday, we used to frequent the Mansion house Hotel (faded elegance) or a hotel on Royal Terrace.Great memories and keep them coming.Wish more people were aware of this excellent channel.
Part of a news article when the owner went to court over it. "It's understood that a drinker, Marjory Williamson, had fallen asleep in the toilets. When she awoke, the pub was closed, and the puma was wandering loose outside of its cage. Marjory was attacked and taken to the Infirmary with deep scratches in her back"

An exceptional social experience never equalled in my humble opinion.
What about De Marco's in Grove Street ? Is that still there?
I remember my parents talking about the cage in Fairleys. Can’t remember if they mentioned a panther or not!
