this is the 3rd video in a row that ive seen from an olympic winner the other 2 being phelps and cody miller that the guy has compared his body to a race car..wonder if it's something they get really drilled into their heads
@@erickm8855 disagree but okay. It's a common analogy drilled into swimmers in the UK and USA. I remember coaches when I was 11 saying it. Older athletes saying it. As a senior I even did
Don Milliken it's always important to include full depth as long as form is maintained. Knees most definitely over toes. There's a case for half squats of you flip turn a lot, but that doesn't apply to Peaty. Full depth squats with a manageable weight would be valuable injury prevention for him
My thoughts exactly 😂 bro science lmao. Nothing they do is scientific. They just had to get him to loose muscle, thought it would make him faster. Weigh less but make him stronger. Strength isn't necessarily related to muscle size at 19 he was far to big. To many see the truth to someone that size at that age with a baby face. 💉💊
And as for those calculations many teams calculate squat velocity. Like as shown here. It has no correlation to performance in any sport based on science. It means nothing to the athlete (except maybe wow I'm squatting faster so I must go faster thinking I.e. placebo). Their horrible lifting form isn't helping either
Hard to go up to 230kg when you're doing swim training 12 times a week though - would be pretty easy for like a guy like him if he focused on nothing but strength training but that's not what he's getting paid for
Heavier squats will not improve his fast twitch capability which gives him the thrust speed. Heavier will increase fibre mass and possibly inhibit the twitch reaction. More fibre s can mean less resistance to earlier o2 debt. It's a fine balance but he will reach optimum performance next year with 56 or high 55secs if everything comes together.
Agree about form not about the 230 will make him 56. Gym has no proven correlation to swimming. It doesn't really help actual swimming at all it mainly helps dives and turns. Being honest 150 is less than his competitors though. Van der Burgh was 84-86kg during the season and was 200kg PB and he actually used full ROM doubt Peaty could do 120 with full ROM. No wonder his starts aren't as good as Van der Burgh.... either was more gym wont get his actual swimming faster but if he could dive and turn like van der burgh hed be 56.
They literally said in the video they dont want him to get too big so they purposely stop him at 150. Theres a reason why theres no bodybuilders at Olympic swimming, and every guy is a tall lean muscular arrow

Yes because athletes are now more knowledgable about nutrition, how to train the body, ect

0:26 only me who think he’s a little cute?? 🥰
96kg winter weight, yikes! Didn’t realise he was that bulky 😳
Even when he's in competition form he's still a massive guy.
Yeah he was disappointed he only got down to 92.
What is his cycle ?
@john m 😂 maybe newer stuff who knows
Squatting 150 kilos? And for how any reps?
I believe 76-79 on a weekend
And how deep?

Seeing as he's a sprinter I imagine he's training low reps for maximum power, probably 5 - 8 reps per set.
Reps: All of them
Who gave you your nutrition advice...?😳😳

Why in a warm jacket but not in t-shirt or something??
To stay warm and avoid risking injury. Also to eliminate unwanted fluids.
Liisa Parfenova sweat
wait me . iam comming :)
Injury is from bad form not heavy weight. If he got his squat up to 230kg(500lb) he would be 56 low in the 100 breast
Amkool bad forms develop when u go over ur limit
Zijian Zhuang that’s true. Easier to maintain form while doing lesser weight reps

hmm lightweight. interesting
Lol 150kg that's cute I warm up with that hahhaha
5 mins u mean
B _Beast no point having too much bulk it would slow him down
Stop tryin to make urself feel better by bringing others down when ur nowhere near as worthy or determined as Adam peaty

B _Beast I bet you’re not the worlds fastest breaststroker though
