How many Harrier pilots does it take to change a lightbulb? One, he stands still and the rest of the world turns round!! I spent many years working with the UK harrier, miss those guys. My absolute favourite module!

After 8 years at RAF Wittering with Harriers are Harrier pilots normal !!! .......Well they try to vector their thrust to the bar and tend to hover around it for a long time making a lot of noise , usually followed by the end of the night with a vertical landing to the floor some times with a bounce . Then they revert to type and find a nice bush to park themselves in and have a nice sleep . Other than that i thought they was normal......ish lol .

With the harrier, if you have to think about it, you've already lost the aircraft. That's what makes harrier pilots different, the fact that they're all a bit odd is just a coincidence.

  • @johnhudghton3535

How do you stop a Harrier from making that aweful whining noise? - Remove the pilot....

No. Helicopters are bad enough, but to be able to cope with a plane that does something that is completely unnatural like this you have to have a few screws loose.

Harrier pilots, so an ex Harrier pilot told me, were the cream of the cream in the Air Force. We did base training in an A300 a long time ago. He slammed the plane into the ground on one of his landings. He told us it was going all well down to the last 30ft. The. Went horribly wrong. So basically we can confirm they are the cream of the cream down to the last 30ft….

I think the issue with inputing the wind is it was looking for it in format XXXdegrees/YYYkts, so it wanted 180/010, rather than 180/10..... but who needs to worry about wind, just full power and hope.... which is exactly what you want to hear a pilot say................

Nice job Tim! I was on ex. Lionheart looking after Harriers in a forest, 'somewhere in Germany' in the 80's. My Spartan CVRT was right next to the end of the improvised runway. Let me tell you, they're fu**in LOUD. My section was on a patrol about 600m from the perimeter. We set up a listening post and I was desperate for a piss. I moved away from the section about 20 ft and found a couple of Belgium troops watching in the direction of where we'd been. Anyway, we disarmed them and 'took them prisoner'. On returning a bloke was doing the rounds asking if anyone wanted a flight in a Harrier. (It was endex then). I really wanted to do it. I asked him how much it was. He told me it was a tenner for a 10 min flight, which was a good deal of dosh to an SAC then. I then asked where the dosh was going. He said, 'to the officers mess'. To which I replied, 'no way are they getting my money.

im so happy that you are on DCS i use to follow your videos about transitioning to the civilian world, and now i found this..i had no idea that you were messing around DCS as well, is always amazing to see a real pilot in DCS, i come from a family of pilots myself, my grandfather was a pilot on the Portuguese air force, my father as well and since i was the black sheep of the family i was just an aircraft maintenance Sargent on the Portuguese AF for 8 years , not anymore, im a musician, music producer now, once again tx for the videos

My favourite aircraft. Sadly, my 7.5 years RAF service as MTD was mostly at non-airfield bases. I never served in the real RAF and left very disappointed. Hey ho, it is what it is. Love these videos. Cheers, Sir😁

Lowestoft, I remember that day, I was on guard duty. We'd spent the previous week prepping it for displays, new engine, lovely 20 Sqn artwork on the fin. I said to the guy I was on guard with, 'oh shit, I helped fit the wing and fin to that', he said, 'i prepped the engine'. Soon after it became clear it was Tony's error, phew!
