Yeah, scale has always been a bit of a "close enough" type thing but these ones like Hosim, DeeRC, and similar have always oversold them for the next size up. Maybe an 8th scale bod on a 10th scale truck. It is a rowdy one and has more than enough power. It really needs some diff tuning and shock tuning and I will work on that in the coming weeks. It is a fun one and I hope once everything is tuned up the wheelie bar is needed more!
You did a great job on the review, Addam! I think the manufacturer definitely got their money's worth by sending you this, lots of run footage, test time, and a lot of valuable comments on their design! It's a difficult one... On the 16th or 14th scale, I would (fairly) easily buy a truck like this, just for a bit of fun... But 8th or 10th scale, I would probably go for a brand that I know better... But definitely good to know there are options! Thanks for showing us!
I get it, not going to be a truck for everyone. It is definitely a 10th scale truck wearing 8th scale clothing but it is a tough one. I had to give it another run as when I saw the footage of the first one I thought I was too gentle on it and most basher folks are going to jump it and tumble it so I went back and did just that. I was impressed but then I saw Exocaged RC reviewed one as well and he jumped the thing super high (15 or more feet in the air) and it had not problems at all so it is a tough one!
I do like the improvements of this one going back to the plastic arms and hubs really helps it. I am quite sure I would have bent of broken one of the cast pieces in some of those crashes. Sadly some were just off camera but there were a few really hard hits and laughed them off and kept on trucking!
Well I have to say I don't love the aspect of these kind of RC, even if I would like to buy a Traxxas Xmax.... but they are the reason why so many people love driving little cars. Thy are fast, easy to drive as you can go in any open space and to go random you don't have to be a pro and they give you emotions wit jumps, spraying rocks around and the competition is so easy to have thwo or three cones and the race track is made anywhere you want..... Great RC Idea!
I get it, not the normal run it around the track and enjoy the looks and watching the suspension work. It is a much more aggressive, send it to the moon type of truck. Thankfully in these times we have so many great things to choose from and there is something out there for everyone to enjoy!
That's cool good they are making larger RC's now and not just those small ones. Maybe use antiwear grease in the diffs? The blinking lights Idea is a good one for the battery.
Yeah, I prefer the large scale ones as the small ones tend to struggle in the grass a lot more. this one did not care at all. Some diff tuning and it should be a lot better. I have not opened it u yet but I am hoping I can use silicone oils in there but if not then the thickest grease I can find will be going in! I wish the AW grease was not so dang expensive!
@@AddamsPlayground Yeah I found with AW grease you don't need to gob it on or fill up the diff you only need a hard brush like a toothbrush and lightly smear a thin coat on all the gears there is no need to gob it on or fill up the diff because it's only the thin layer that sticks on the gears that stays and makes contact and makes it work. anymore added is just a waste. 👍
I can vouch for the toughness of Hosim plastics. We’ve beat the ever living hell out of our 9125 at skate parks, and around home and it’s survived everything we have thrown at it. Hosim makes a heluva good RC
Yeah the last one they sent me was covered in cast metal pieces and the tiny straight cut gears in it, I had very little faith in it and decided to not review it. This one with the better plastics and the helical cut gears gave me the confidence it would hold up. It did not complain at all and with some diff tuning it should be a lot better. If you have not, go watch Exocaged RC review of it from a few days ago and he jumped his like a $600 basher and it was all good at the end, kind of impressive!
Last I like watching the water spray off of the tires in the second video I kept thinking he's getting awful close to the camera and then you hit it and laughed Thank you for taking the time to give us something to watch
Yeah, I liked seeing the water spraying up from the tires as well! The grass was a little wetter than I though tit was going to be but it ended up looking really neat. Yeah there was one pass where I may have been a foot away if not closer, thankfully the pass I hit I nailed the breaks and kept it from getting whacked at full speed. Thanks as always for watching my friend!
I am pretty impressed with the power and toughness of it. I am going to tune up the diffs and try and figure out a better weight oil for the shocks. I think once that is all sorted it will be a real ripper! If you have not, go watch Exocaged RC and his review of it. Boy he put it through the ringer and it held up really well!
It was fun and this has gobs of power! Some diff tuning and tinkering with the shocks and it should be a real ripper. I am working on the little 902 Jimny right now but this will be back on the bench shortly to get some attention and then and other run.
Thanks Fil! It proved tough and with some diff and shock tinkering I think the wheelie bar is going to get more use!!! Go check out the review from Exocaged RC from a few days ago, he really sent it big multiple times and it did not care!
Hi Addam, first of all I think you did a great job for Hosim, your feedback and advice was invaluable to them and they listened - that really is awesome! You sure get a lot of truck for your money and it sure has some legs! Great rig for bashing and that's what these rigs are made for, I can tell it put a smile on your face! Looked like a bit of a handful on your track though, these bashers are more about brute power than finesse! You did a great job on this review, frank and honest as it should be. Excellent. Take care buddy! :D
Thanks Mark! Yeah it is not a track truck really! Definitely more of a fly around a field and jump things type of truck. It has plenty of power and some diff tuning should help get it down a little better. Hoping to be able to use that wheelie bar a little more next time! I will also tinker with the shocks as well and it should be even more fun. I liked the updates they did to this one and the plastics and the new gears will make it last a lot longer in between repairs, something is bound to break at some point. Check out Exocaged RC and his review of the truck from the other day, he was really launching it!!!
That thing rips good to see you don’t have to spend thousands to get a fast truck another good affordable back yard basher thanks again for another great review
It is surprisingly tough and plenty fast. It just needs some diff tuning and some tinkering with the shocks and I think it will be a great truck. Exocaged RC took on out and jumped it all over and really high and it held up great, check his review out on it if you have not seen it!
It is a tough one, I realized in the first run I took it kind of easy so it had to go out for a rougher one and it help up great. The body creasing was going to happen regardless as that rear end lawn dart really was a rough hit! I am going to tune up the diffs and try and figure out a better weight oil for the shocks. I think once that is all sorted it will be a real ripper! That center diff is getting a real workout at the moment!
Yeah I almost went off in the other turn and the evil voice in my head said launch it off the next one, so I did! It took a bad landing but no problems out of it. Exocaged RC did a review of it a couple days ago and he was really sending it hard and his held up just fine as well. It is a tough one for sure and some diff and shock tinkering it should be a real ripper!
super close run to the tripod mate . it’s great when u just skim past . usually my camera ends up a foot away with a crash 😂 great truck . such value for cash . not keen on the random words they pop on the side like the victory but hey… minor gripe which i’m sure can be peeled off 👍 great review
Yeah, there was the one pass in there I may have only been a foot away from it and I was very glad I did not plow into at full speed! The one time I did hit it I was able to slow it down a lot. I did loose the footage from it, either I did not hit record or the impact jarred it enough to goof it up, plausible for either! LOL! I am going to tune up the diffs and try and figure out a better weight oil for the shocks. That center diff is getting a real workout at the moment .I think once that is all sorted it will be a real ripper! It is definitely a tough one and has plenty of power. I was really happy to see that even with a full run of wide open ripping around the motor and esc stayed nice and cool, nothing was overheating in there. The victory is screen printed on the body but I have some random other sponsor sticker I can paste over it to put a racier look to it!
It is a rowdy truck and with some diff tuning it should be even more fun. That center diff is getting an extreme workout LOL! It is definitely durable, I just saw Exocaged RC review it as well and he was jumping it like a $600 basher and it didn't care at all!
Yeah definitely not a real 6th scale but a fun one and pretty tough one as well! I like all the updates they have made to this and I think it should hold up well. I will get the diffs tuned and play with the shocks and it should be a real ripper then!
Not the normal kind of kit for me but it was fun to go out and thrash it around. It really was tough and I think the improvements they made really help the durability of it!
I will always give it to you all straight. If I get one I feel is junk I will tell you or send it back and not review it all. It is not a $600 Arrma but it is a lot better than many of the other Amazon type RCs. Exocaged RC did a review of it as well the other day and he really jumped his hard and no issues. I was impressed!
Thanks! It is a fun truck, it does need some tuning but I will be getting to that very soon. I just need my workbench back, I have another one spread out all over it currently! LOL! I think with the diff firmed up will will actually use that rear wheelie bar and might actually pull a backflip! We will see!
Yeah, not a track truck but for thrashing around the yard it was a lot of fun! Some diff tuning and tinkering with the shocks and it should be a real ripper.
I enjoyed the video. Actually, it was impressive. I enjoyed the second part of the video where you were doing the jumps. I think anyone buying this truck will be doing a lot of jumps. The tumbling landings really demonstrated durability. It would be interesting to see it after it ran in rain, snow and mud. I think the problem is the competition in the less expensive trucks. There are a lot a very durable trucks out there getting a lot of youtube coverage.
I am glad you enjoyed it. I had to go back out for the second run. Once I watched the first one back I knew I was going to easy on it and most people are going to hammer down and beat on it much harder so in the second it was nothing but full throttle and trying not to hurt me or the gear! I am sure once the diffs and shocks get some attention I will get it back out for some more. I may swap the tires to something a little heavier to see about getting it to rotate more and do some flips!
I was very surprised that rear wing was not damaged from the few big back flops into the dirt but they made it out of some tough stuff! That one full speed pass right by the gopro had me worried! I stayed on the gas and hoped for the best. the one time I did hit it I was able to slow it down enough to not break anything. Sadly I either forgot to turn it on or the impact goofed it up as I got no footage off of it. More than likely user error, it has happened before! LOL!! I will get the diffs stiffened up and tinker with the shocks some and get it back out fairly soon.
I am pretty impressed with the power and toughness of it. I am going to tune up the diffs and try and figure out a better weight oil for the shocks. Yes, they overstated the size a bit but that is kind of normal now for a lot of these companies. Lots of guys on the marketing team I think, overselling their size LOL!
You would have fun with it but you would also laugh at the diffs in stock form! They definitely need to be tuned up and the shocks need some tinkering as well. Once that is done it should be a whole different beast!
Great and very professional review Addam! Certainly looks like a well built and capable rig. Not for me personally,as i just cant get past the looks of these modern bashers. But,i can definitely see the appeal to the younger generation. Good to hear that they provide a good after sales service, and good spare parts availability. 😊👍 👍
It is a fun one and more than powerful enough to put a smile on anyone's face. I worked on it for a bit yesterday and got some thicker diff oil in the center diff and it has helped out but I really need to open up the other two and work on them as well. Everything is just too free stock and that poor center diff was getting a real workout all the time. Not it is not unloading as bad and the front end is not going 120 mph compared to the rear doing 30! LOL!
It seems to be a really tough one and has plenty of power. Some diff tuning and some tinkering with the shocks and it should be a real ripper. If you have not seen it, go check out Exocaged RC, He did a review on it as well a few days ago. He really threw his around off some big jumps and it held up just fine. I am pretty impressed with how tough it is.
Thanks Freddy! It is a cool looking one and a perfect beginner truck but still more than enough fun for a long term RC addict as well! I understand about the RTR part, not for everyone. It is nice to have a few on hand when friends come over or just to save the pretty ones from getting all dirty and scratched up! I can knock the dust and dirt off of this and put it away for next time. When I take one of the Tamiya or Kyosho kits out I have to clean them up really well before it goes back on the shelf. My own weirdness, but a beater truck is a great answer for it!
@@AddamsPlaygroundoh I’d agree with that one. There are a couple RTR’s that I’ve seen that might eventually get me to buy one just to have something I can really bash around or be capable of racing with some of the guys up here. Associated SC10 seems like a good buy for example. But I’m not there yet.
Thanks for checking it out and hitting the subscribe button, I appreciate it. Thanks as well for the beard! Mine will get a trim in a little bit, starting to get a bit long and into the danger zone of getting wrapped up, burnt or caught in stuff! LOL!
Hi Addam, great take on this. I agree about the version 1 in know exactly which rc you are talking about and with my X03 the 1/14th rc they sell with aluminum arms I’ve broken 2 in 3 attempts to drive it. Only 1 time did it walk away unscathed. Great review as always!!
The aluminum stuff is a nice selling point but there is a big difference between nice machined aluminum and cast stuff. In the bigger trucks I would avoid aluminum suspension arms all together, shock towers and shocks are where I would use metal but for high impact parts a bit of flex or even snapping is usually better than bent and mangled! Many times the metal arms can break where it attaches to the chassis and that requires even more tear down!
Yeah the tires on it did not suit the track but I had to try it. It is definitely a wide open spaces, romp and rumble around truck! It is a tough one and with all the wrecks and tumbles it had not real damage other than the creases on the body which i am very surprised that rear wing/wheelie bar did not get ripped off when that crash happened! Some diff tuning and I think it will ride some wheelies pretty well!
Only RTRs for me, can't be doing with any headache especially coming from nitro/5th scale petrol cars. I just want quick instant power now with minimum effort
I used to be that way and the older I have gotten the relaxing part of the build and getting all ready to drive is the best part! I am lucky enough to have the best of both worlds, building kits and having a small crew of RTRs to beat on and not worry about. Thankfully in the RC world now there is just about everything you can think of to fit your desires, affording some of them is the hard part! LOL! I think we'd all take a giant Raminator or Grave Digger from Primal RC but that price tag is too painful to think about. Still would be awesome!
It claims to be. I have not really tested it as the body did a good job of keeping everything pretty dry in there even though it was trouncing through the wet grass the whole time during the second run.
Hosim... is that a prostitution simulator? The one thing I think will be a problem (other than parts and possible dubious quality) is there is no internal supports for the roof skids. Unless the body was designed to bend as opposed to flipping inside out when it lands on its roof.
LOL, big difference between hardware and software there! They do usually do very well with parts support, similar to Tamiya they tend to share parts cross-platform so both short terms and somewhat long term parts should be available. Of course 10 years from now it is questionable for sure. It did a couple back flops and held up well but repeated ones could beat it up pretty bad.

Appreciate it buddy! @AddamsPlayground
Looks like a decent one great work Addam some adjustments are required by the way it drives around but it's to be expected
It was fun and this has gobs of power! Some diff tuning and tinkering with the shocks and it should be a real ripper. I am working on the little 902 Jimny right now but this will be back on the bench shortly to get some attention and then and other run.
@AddamsPlayground totally agree it has potential .
Have fun wrenching 👍🏼🙏🏼
Nice much better than those mini RC's they always been making.
Yes, they overstated the size a bit but that is kind of normal now for a lot of these companies. Lots of guys on the marketing team I think, overselling their size LOL!
Cool unboxing man
I actually dont mind the look of that , would like to get it out on the bmx track for a bashing 🔥
LOL!
New sub here, great job! I'm seriously thinking about testing this one myself!
Well...I do love the graphics on that and the wheels look awesome! Great review of it...not an RTR guy but it's pretty impressive.
Subscribed brother. Amazing beard, mine half the size
Not a track star, but I'm sure some young kids at a ball field would love it.
Thanks for checking it out! Take care
Wheely
Bar was definitely necessary.
I am hoping once the diffs are tuned up then the wheelies will really show up.
It seems clunky
Not as smooth and refined as some of the big name bashers but they are making a lot of progress in getting there.
Is it waterproof?
@@AddamsPlayground heh, heh, heh... you said hard...heh...heh...
show me a 250 $ car with phillips heads screws and that I say no thanks ...
Yeah, having phillips screws is a big drawback. Hex hardware cannot be that much more expensive to use and has become the industry standard.
