Hey mate!!
Saved this show to listen to today as im currently in the middle of a boring 7 hour spar complex inside/out window clean!!😮
Tuned in and got hit straight away with my question!!🙏
Excellent answer my friend, and totally different from what i was expecting!! (and yes,my immediate thought was the CWO1!!)😂
What a totally leftfield and abstract creation that would be,and maaaan,i can see it in my head right now!! 😂
Shrinking bodies down is totally allowed.....
That blazer would look so cool,of course Tamiya would have to create a custom driver figure to recreate that trademark beard.....hang on,you already have one of those made up don't you?
(was it in your wildwilly?) 🤔
Hope Tamiya are listening, this would sell by the bucket load!!
Cheers for the great answer buddy, guna listen to the rest of the show now as i work into the night!!
😊👍 👍
I am glad you enjoyed the answer for the hypothetical but totally cool idea for the APG Wheelie Blazer! Of course I could not come up with anything sporty or race oriented, it would have to be something silly that anyone and everyone could enjoy!
I do have the custom Addam Driver in the Wild Willy! Canuck Chuck made that for me and it is the coolest driver I have! He also made the potato head drivers which are hilarious as well! It would be cool to even 3D print one and make it a one off but I would have to work with someone to do the designing, I can make very simple things in CAD but not anything nearly that complex! It would be super cool for sure!
I hope you enjoy the rest of it while you are working, happy I can keep you company! Take care James!
@AddamsPlayground
He he.... It's funny, you actually spoke about custom projects later in the show didn't you?!!
Actually, putting it like that I'm pretty sure that a one off custom APG mini Blazer could actually be achievable!!
I wouldn't mind betting that you have many subscribers with the 3d printing tech/skills at their disposal to actually pull it off for you if you put it out there!! 😂
Very enjoyable show mate, really passed the time on a really boring Sunday job..... helped along by a few ciders! 🍻 😜 (one of the advantages of working for yourself!)
Some very interesting topics brought up and answered..... the time flew by!
Have a great week buddy. 😊 👍 👍
Thank you for the response and discussion in reference to tires and wheels. You provided some great advice. Thanks again for all of your efforts! I have an appreciation for the time you invest in each production
Thank you for the help with the video and I am more than happy to sit down and answer them all. I enjoy doing these and always have fun trying to answer the serious, silly and off the wall questions! I am glad you enjoyed it!! Take care and have a great week ahead!
Hey Addam great "Ask Me Anything" Adventurous Addam would be a Tamiya RC to see running around in everyone's yard. You received a lot if good question and hypothetical ones. Can't wait to see the next Ask Me Anything, I knew you had a lot of RC WOW!!!!!! 200+ and still growing. Thanks for giving us a little more of Addam's Playground and the man behind it.
I am glad you enjoyed it, I always have fun with these! I think maybe Tumbleweed Terry could be a more fitting name but Adventurous Addam fits the channel better!
It is always fun to hear the cool questions that I get to answer. The mix of them makes it more fun too. Yeah, there are a lot of them out in the garage so you guys only see about 1/4 of them in the background of the videos!
I will have another one of these sometime after the first of the year!
Best video of the day Addam. Thanks for answering and my colleages for bringing in these interesting questions.
Thanks for the help for the questions, I enjoy answering them all. I am glad you enjoyed it!
Nice video Addam👍 ,
listened while I've been cutting out flame stencils for a midnight Pumpkin I'm doing for someone , Really enjoyed it thank you for taking the time to do it 😀💯👍👍👍👍👍
I am glad you enjoyed it! That is the best time to watch these is when you have something else to tinker on and don't have to stare at me for an hour or more LOL! I enjoy doing these and always love to see what serious or funny questions I get from everyone!
Hey mate lot to take in got through every minute I did watch and comment on the original vid I couldn't find my comment great vid mate take care have a great week 👊
Either TH-cam blocked it for some strange reason (I checked the the held comments and did not see anything) or the internet ate it! Hold on to it for a little bit as another will be happening just after the holidays! Take care my friend!
Thanks Adam for the update great video and full of nice details and some really cool questions and answers .
So many cool thoughts 👍🏼
I am glad you enjoyed it. I have a good time doing these and it is always fun to see what serious and funny questions I get to answer!
Fantastic answer Addam this hobby is definitely the best!
Both the hobby and the folks in it are great! Of course I have had a run in or two with some chuckle heads but that is just the odds of dealing with people. For the vast majority, everyone is very nice and helpful which is super cool! Thanks for the questions, the help with the video and the support as always my friend!
@AddamsPlayground Always a pleasure mate and you are definitely doing something right your channel has really grown at a quick rate! Iol probably seems a slow growth to you actually doing all the hours of work recording and editing! Good job buddy.😉👍
@@MadBeeRC You are right on both sides! It has grown quickly but also feels like it it has taken forever!! LOL!
Thanks for the answers Adam. Keep up the great work on the channel.
I am glad you enjoyed it! I have fun doing them, the next will probably around the start of 2025. Take care and have a great rest of your weekend!
@@AddamsPlaygroundI just won a frog from good hobbies. But gave it to Steve because you know have one.
@@AddamsPlaygroundthanks for mentioning me in directly.
@@bradkalman2353 That was really cool of you to give it to him!
Great show, Cheers Addam, from this Aussie in China, at the moment in Osaka.
Thanks! Glad you enjoy it, I have a good time answering everything! In Osaka for fun or business?
Following on Adam were not allowed fire arms in UK but if I had a Smith and Wesson I would have let one go no doubt my cat would have backed me up. Your great because you'are for real and for that we respect you. All these people smashing cars with limitless budget is disrespectful to the hobby. I hope you agree
I have protection here but pray I never am put in a position to need to use it but I totally understand. Of course the cat would be down for a battle LOL!
What you see is what you get, I never want to be the over bubbly guy telling everyone everything is the greatest thing since the last thing. I would much rather be fully honest and let you all know my struggles or problems with something. That way your experience may be better or avoided all together. I certainly will not turn into a KT and smash stuff around for no reason! Now that being said I ran two yesterday to run out some battery packs and ended up breaking them both LOL! Both were just bad luck and not skate park bashing! I am sure you you see some about them in videos to come!
An enjoyable watch with my morning coffee! Thanks for the answer Addam!
👍😊
Thanks Jeremy! You should be ready to go after drinking an entire pot of coffee, that was a long one!! LOL! I am glad you enjoyed it, I have a good time answering everything!
@ I milked that first cup pretty good!🤣 My numb hands had me up at 5:00 so it was a good opportunity to sit in a quiet, early morning house and watch.
Hey Addam, a great ‘ask me anything’ session. So so much insight into Addam the man (in the RC World of course). I hear in the video that you’re a big fan of the WR-02 chassis, I was looking at this chassis, as I feel that it’s going to be up there with the Lunchbox CW-01 chassis 😊😊. I’m like you, I like my RC’s to remain clean and pretty, getting them beat up and dirty, isn’t my thing either. Best wishes to you and the family 🖐️😎😉
I am glad you enjoyed it John. I have fun answering all of the questions and it is always fun to get a variety of funny, serious and silly questions to answer.
The WR02 is becoming a top spot favorite of mine. It is very much like the Lunch Box and it is just fun and an instant smile maker type of vehicle.
I do have a few, like the Plasma Edge 2 where it has been driven enough it is getting really scratched up and a little worse for wear but I still try and clean it up pretty well. The others need to be as clean as possible when on the shelf. So it is nice to have some of the RTR kits to beat on and no have to worry about being spotless when done. Although I ran two of them yesterday and broke both so now they are dusty and busted! No worries, parts are on their way, they can't just stay like that LOL!!!
Take care my friend and have a wonderful Sunday!
I’m kinda in the same boat . My kids thought they wanted to try to race with me . That lasted one weekend lol ! I’ve got a very small circle of friends that still come out from time to time but it’s usually just me tinkering in the garage.
@@Okpaintguy2 it is a fun way to entertain yourself and you end up with really cool toys!
@ oh yeah been keeping me out of trouble since I was a kid .
Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions. I learned some things from the video. I had a friend who also turned his Wheelie King into a rock crawler, when it was all getting started. I remember he would put shot in his tires for better grip. If the speed run challenges are restricted toTamiya I would suggest two cars., The Manta Ray which is about $126 on AMain and you can use a discount code. The other is Saint Dragon. It's usually the cheaper in that series, it's not exactly ugly, but it's definitely different and you can use discount codes on different sites.
It is my pleasure! I always enjoy answering the questions from you all. It is fun to see the various serious, funny and unique stuff you all ask!
Lead shot and BBs were a common weight additive back then as nobody was machining brass parts like we have now. Also wrapping the inside of the wheels with lead wheel balancing weights was another one used a lot also.
Both of your suggestions for the SRC buggies are great, the Manta Ray would be a great one as it is very inexpensive and is naturally a good buggy. Who knows what it will be but I am sure it will be interesting and have its unique set of challenges with it to get it going fast!!
23:42 Raffall!!!!!!
I have thought about that, I need to look into it more to fully understand it and if it would work out well. It is a possibility.
The only reason I mentioned the memberships is to give folks some extra member only videos and early access to some others (if I am ahead of schedule!). I also thought about doing some member only live videos as well. I don't know really, it is a big commitment for sure!
Last
I saw some jump cuts i wonder what you cut out (we want to see it)
I have to look up the hornet evo
I'll go next to last👍
Laster!
You are not missing anything, a few burps, sneezes and stumbling over words is all. there was one section cut out where I took 5 minutes to say 30 seconds worth of stuff so I realized that and restated in the 30 seconds so the excess rambling was cut from the video.
The Hornet Evo is pretty cool, same overall look but they grafted on the DT03 rear end and modified the front end so low it had really good suspension all the way around! It looks to drive very well now and no more hopping about in the rear! Funnily enough at most places it is quite a bit cheaper than the original one is!
@AddamsPlayground we come for the 5 minute ramblings lol
@@andyknuckles2903 😂❤️
Thanks for answering my question!
On a completely different subject, something that's been on my mind is I wonder if the Hornet EVO suspension could be kit-bashed to fit a Lunchbox. For example, I think the original Hornet has the same gearbox as a Lunchbox, so maybe some of the EVO parts would bolt right up. You're the Lunchbox guru, so maybe you can investigate!
Thank you for the cool question and helping out with the video!
For the EVO I am not sure, I will have to get it in my hands to see how it all goes together and what other kits it may work with stock and which ones will take some customizing. I am thinking with the way the lunch box rear end is situated it may not work unless you did an on-road version as it sit too low in the rear. So you may have to lower the front end down and make it a sportier lunchy!
Great show, have a great weekend Addam! KO Propo radios best of best 😁👍
Thanks Steve! I forget about KO, I never had any of their gear so it is not top of mind. I know they were top of pile for racers back in the day!
It be an honor to put a car from your channel along with your autograph on da shelf ... great conversation piece with in good condition or busted up 😂
Well busted up is out of the question, it would have to be in good shape before it would be offered up. Well, maybe if it was another tragic high-speed disassembly wreck like last speed run, maybe that would be a cool piece, plus take away the memory of it! LOL!
@AddamsPlayground they need to make the dt02 hard body kits again.
@@AddamsPlaygroundI had a bear Hawk.I would love to have it again.I hope they do come back out with it again.
@@bradkalman2353 I am very hopeful they do it next year, time will tell. I am sure it would make a ton of folks happy to be able to get one.
@@bradkalman2353 I agree but it seem like they have really slowed down on releasing them. Many more lexan bodied ones than hard body ones.
Hey Addam😊 Great work on the Q&A. So many people who do this often have a number of questions and simply answer with yes or no.. Some add in a little more, but most of them almost seem that they just wanted to get through it as soon as possible.. I really appreciate you taking your time answering and giving us the reason for that specific answer.
You said you wanted feedback on the "membership option," and I'm on board with that:)
As you know, i have a soft spot for buggys and the Frog was my first rc car, that being said that BBX looks amazing 😊 That is one of the Tamiya cars I would love to own😊 Take good care of that one😊
Again, I really appreciate your videos👍 Keep up the great work 👍
I feel you all take the time to watch the videos and come up with the questions so it I should take the time to answer them the best I can, only seems fair! I enjoy the time spent doing these as it is my time to sit and chat with you all as best I can.
I think one of the ideas for memberships is trying to do a bi-weekly live video only for members. That way it is a smaller audience and I can answer things as the video goes on and show updates and projects going on. If I am going to do it I want to make sure you all would be getting extra stuff for it.
The BBX is a cool and unique buggy, I had it out just yesterday, well I didn't, it was in the hands of another TH-camr. You see that stuff in a little bit, lots and lots of footage to get through!!!
Thanks for the kind words and for the support! Take care and have a great rest of your weekend!
@@AddamsPlayground Thanks 😊 You too👍
I must admit, that Mojave grom caught my interest, though I’m far more excited for a decent handling Hornet!!!!
Yes, a good handling Hornet is a dream many of us never thought would come true. I am hoping there are no little hidden issue with it and it runs as well as I have seen it go in several videos.
I am not going to spoil anything but I drove a brushless (used to be brushed) Mojave Grom yesterday and I am 100% getting one of the new brushless ones when they arrive. It was a real blast and convinced me I need one of those to rip around the track!
Great work Addam, I could listen to you talk RC all day, I agree with you on the kits vs RTR stuff, these mini’s are here to stay, once the 80’s kids are gone, the kits might just disappear as well!!!!
Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed it. I always enjoy making these! I am very hopeful us 80s kids will stick around for many more years so the kits keep coming! Afterwards who knows!
Atom Adam!
Gauranga
Ohhh that is a good one! Thanks!
Awesome collection 🏁🏆💯
Thank you! I have had a lot of fun over the last few years getting all of these and building them all! Sharing them you all makes it more fun also!
I’m surprised Tamiya haven’t used the old quickdrive Clodbuster body on a GF01 chassis. Be an easy one to do.
Oh, that is a good question.... that would probably work out perfectly! That would be a super cool one to do!!
Watching these videos is really interesting as you get to share why you are so into the hobby. Kind of a follow up to the 'If tamiya approached you for a limited edition car', I am guessing you have built so many, you know how these go togeter without a manual. Have you ever considered designing your own and either taking up 3d printing or getting someone to make the parts for you as a prototype?
I am glad you enjoyed it, I always enjoy doing them! There may be a few I could sit down and build without the manual, I still follow along to make life easier though! I have done some simple 3D modeling but without knowing the programs very well and not using them often it is always a struggle to get things to work the way I want them to. I am also more of a cardboard-aided-design kind of guy and too impatient to argue with the software and just start cutting things up and making it work! LOL!
it would be super cool to come up with something like that. I loved seeing Rob Mitchell design and manufacture the Project 959 kits, that was a tremendous undertaking and he did an amazing job with it all! I cannot imagine trying to tackle all that myself! LOL!
I would like to make a mashup kit or two at some point, if it worked out well then maybe something could happen with it!
I had found a supplier in the UK that made wheels and tires almost exact for my original Astute when I was restoring it. Same goes for the bodies but they are much thicker than the original.
@@TheDeLeonHobbyGarage very cool! I have ordered some stuff from the UK, mostly through TTP.
Wats good brother , thanks for the cool Q & a ..always good content and good to see you pumpkin out these vlogs keep going brother " you can do it "
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it! I love doing these and it is always fun to see what cool and unique question everyone comes up with!
Hi Addam, thanks for answering the question on the Holiday Buggy. I ended up putting on a set of the DT-03 CVA shocks on my Holiday Buggy but I just couldn’t bring myself to installing front shocks upside down, I put them regular way up and the fit perfectly and work great. You mentioned you have a Top Force to build? You will love that buggy. I have a Top Force Evo with a Super Stock BZ motor and it’s awesome, definitely my best performing Tamiya. Take care buddy.😊 PS. When you look ahead to offload some of your RC, would Operation 11 Charlie be able to use them? Also my wife wants to know what the black road car is above your left shoulder in the video.👍
Thank you for the question and the help on the video! I put mine on the right way up but had to clearance a little bit out of one of the arms to make it not push up against the shock. It was not a lot just a tiny bit.
I do have the Top Force to build and it will be fairly soon. I am working on the 956 right now and hope to get that done soon and the TF may be next. I have got a plan to make that one look a little bit different as well, it should look pretty slick! At least that is the hope, we'll see!
If I am getting rid of something they can either use for a vet or for a raffle to raise money then I would certainly send it to them!
The black car is a custom one I did not too long ago. It is a TT-02D Nissan GT-R R34 done with a hornet livery. It was modeled after a matchbox car done that way. Here is the video if you are interested - th-cam.com/video/cq9PIGmB7zA/w-d-xo.html
Awesome Q&A.
Thanks Trey, I am glad you enjoyed it. I always have fun answering everyone's questions!
For 2.2 wheels and tyres that fit Tamiya 2wds look at the ones from JC Racing Products in the UK. They make wheels specifically for Tamiyas with the correct offset and fit front bearings. They also make wheels for the Kyosho Ultima which will also work if you use 5x8mm bearings.
I have never really looked at them but I will have to check them out. A quick glance at their site and they do have some interesting stuff on there! Thanks for the suggestion!
PS16 is a fantastic colour choice brother 🙌🏻 Mini OaG approves of the choice of blue also and says hi back 👋🏻 Ps - I know how hard it is keeping up with a leaderboard dude! It is not for everyone for sure 😁
Although there are many cool colors seeing the sparkly metallic blue is a real treat. I am starting to really like the cobalt green a lot. Yeah the leaderboard is an afterthought more times than not and once I have edited all the footage I generally mentally move on to the next thing and don't ever think to go go update it. I do appreciate the help with it. Maybe one day it will work its way back into the videos.
Nice tamiyas, About timiya pinions I hate that they use those funky pitches!
Thanks! Well for a company still sending things out with plastic bushings and JIS screws I don't see them standardizing the pinions anytime soon LOL!! I think we are stuck with what we get from them! I don't mind too much as getting pinion sets from places like Amazing have gotten very easy and cheap to get. Not like years ago when choices were slim and they were $8-12 a piece, now I can get a range of 6 different sizes for that price!
Bought the Sand-Viper and painted it ps-27 because i think it looked really cool when you did it. I usually paint it box art unless i got an idea myself or if somebody else have a cool idea.. Call me a biter, but if its cool its cool! 🙂
I am kind of the same way, box art is the go to but if something catches my eye I may veer off course. The sand viper looked good in the stock color but in the fluorescent yellow it looks super cool and much more like a race buggy! Imitation is a wonderful form of flattery and I am happy to hear you liked it enough to do your own that way!
Adams “Bouncing Blazer” or “Bopping Blazer”
OMG!!! The Bouncing Blazer!!!! I am sold 100% now for sure with that name!! Oh if I only had a way to get into a board room discussion and make that sales pitch!
@ we’ll have to start a petition and get the signatures going haha
Fronts use jconcepts mono bearing
Thanks, I will check them out!
The frog is amazing when someone says to me what were you doing in the 80's I was skateboarding with a Powell and Peralta Tony Hawks yes it's battered but worth north of £1000 and playing football and driving a frog. I bought a re-re Subaru brat because it was not available in the UK in the 80's to me the frog is Tamiya it had the metal legacy a hotshot or bigwig can't supply. And it didn't break your mum/dad's bank. My frog has changed colour the chassis over 45 years but that is character. It's part of the family with it's memories.
Yeh I've got a super astute on order. The 956 beautiful body from 1/12 to 1/10 top 10 of all time a big ask but you will bin the wheels and tyres I'm not joking the tyres are the wrong width and you will throw them away the wheels are a joke. Tamiya has this ability to create magic and then give a rookie CAD technician license to ruin it.
The Frog is definitely a classic icon from Tamiya and many people's first RC back in the day. I love it for the shock tower free front end and lay down rear shocks that set it apart from the majority of all the other buggies at the time, or since!
I still need to build my Brat, I have been dragging my feet on it as I am not looking forward to painting two bodies for it back to back! LOL!
The 956 is a big one in 10th scale but it looks great. I will give you the complaint on the wheels and tires for sure. Seems like the silliest thing to have the wrong sized wheels/tires on the front and the rear wheels are kind of a joke. I am not even painting the rears as more than likely something else will be put on there eventually. It is funny how well that Tamiya can do some things yet ignore or fail at others! It is still a really cool car and a neat one to have in the collection!
BEARHAWK!!!
Fingers crossed over hear brother! I am very hopeful it may happen... not holding my breath but wishing hard!
in regards to the rc give-away idea. This might be a bit much to deal with, but what about a give-give idea? a subscriber could offer a vehicle to you to "rehab" or restore or just swap, in exchange for one that you might want to give away? This way, could you possibly spend less for your next project and restore a unique or older rc. i would say whatever we give you is then yours. Unless another agreement is reached.
Interesting idea... I will have to think on that one but overall it sounds like it could be interesting. I really need get through the backlog I have before I make any decisions. I Thought memberships may be fun and I could do some scheduled live videos, some more quick and dirty behind the scenes videos and move on a few of the vehicles that have been sent to me for review. I am still on the fence about all of it so who knows! Thanks for the idea, I will ponder it along with the rest of the ideas I have playing bumper cars in my head LOL!! Take care and have a great week!
This is my choice I love my rc10 but my lazer zxr won races, please please Kyosho re re this. Im saying this Adam because you have a platform. I got burgled house robbery when I was 18 they took 2 technics a mixer my records and my ZXr everything was irreplaceable. And my bike a Kona. This was all my savings they left the frog. I cried Im not ashamed. They left my cat Minoushka who was well annoyed. Who, why, Ill never know.
Oh man, I cannot imagine how devastated you had to have been! I have a hard time selling things so letting go of stuff takes a lot but to have it stolen from you has to be a completely awful and gut-wrenching feeling.
Hey Addam, Great video as usual. Quick question would you like to run my Astute with the bbx gearbox on your track? It's still dirty from Keith's track Not cost to you I'll ship it for for free Let me know I'll send you my email
Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it. I always like doing these!
I would be honored and terrified to drive it around my track! I saw it ripping (and banging) around Keith's track and it is a really cool buggy! Email me and we can discuss it, I can't put the proper email in the comment or YT will automatically block it but it is - addamsplayground (at) gmail (dot) com. Thank you very much for the cool offer! Talk to you soon!
