I have one of these for my edc. People have told me I'm crazy for concealed carrying a full sized 1911, but at least I never feel outgunned with the Big Iron on my hip! 😊
I have the a1 and stakeout. I’m gonna carry the stakeout. The a1 is for kayaking so I can use a lanyard. Only gripe I have with the a1 being ccw is the bad sights, but use what suits you

Carry what you love and are comfortable with. I used to carry a Government 45acp as well but have recently switched to a lightweight commander. 19 rounds of 45acp on my person? Ya im good with that.
Just two weeks ago my local gun shop had this same 1911A1 Tisas show up in his used gun case. He asked $300.00 and I grabbed it. When he brought up the case and did paperwork he handed me four MecGar 8 round .45 magazines that the prior owner had bought. None of the magazines had any wear and the barrel had no wear marks? It looked unfired! When I took it to the range all magazines fed every .45 ball round I had with no failures? For the price, and build quality. You cannot go wrong!

@@marklemist6928 That is correct, but they also charge shipping and my state tax. With 2 magazines? And then I have to pay my FFL a transfer fee when it arrives in my state. Where at my local shop it was including tax at $300.00 out the door and doing FFL transfer. Then handing my 8 new magazines. 11 months ago too.
These 1911's are a tremendous value for the money, take it from a guy who worked at Kimber for 13 years LOL. I got a Tisas 1911 Service..........best machining in it's class by far for the price. WOW.
My EDC is a Tisas Service, Government length. I was able to convert it to shoot 45 Super, great quality and fitment for a Turkey Co. For a $400 1911, it definitely exceeds my expectations and keeps me wanting to visit the range more often.
Flat-wire 24 lb recoil spring, Full length guide rod, heavier firing pin spring and flat bottom end plate and a heavier hammer spring. all these allow the gun to stay locked up for a few mili seconds longer and it's still able to run factory ball ammo just fine.@@cnclife1053
@louisstaiano4566 Sorry 45 super is not dead or lose to +p, that is a falsehood. 45 super can (with caution) be loaded almost to 460 rowland power. It is very easy to throw 230 and 250 grain bullets around 1100 FPS or more as compared to 950 with 45+p. It brings the 45 into the 10mm wheelhouse no problem. To say there isn't much difference between +p and super is so incorrect it's not even funny. Nor is it dead, just niche. I prefer it over the 10mm by a large margin, and that comes from someone who really liked the 10mm.

I held it next to a Rock Island and a $1100 Ruger and it felt like a class above the RI and way closer to the Ruger at 1/3 the price. I am happy Pew Pew agrees that it’s great because it’s easily my favorite and least expensive gun
The problem with the Speer Gold Dot is probably magazine related. Tisas 1911 pistols ship with several different magazines brands, mainly Mecgar and Check-Mate. The Mecgars seem to be the most troublesome. Many other TH-cam channels have tested the Tisas U.S. Army with aftermarket magazines like Wilson Combat and Chip McCormick and have found them able to cycle nearly every brand of ammo.
I've got an 8 round 1911 Mecgar mag and have used it for years with absolutely no issues. The Speer Gold Dot frangible is a hollow point which can be problematic in a 1911 especially without a properly throated chamber. However I noted that none of the other hollow points gave him any trouble. But when I first saw the problem I did think it was magazine related not ammo caused. Most of my 1911 mags are Wilson Combat or Ed Brown and I use mostly Extreme 230 gr. copper plated round nose reloads and these always go thru my 1911's like sh*t thru a goose and no malfunctions!
Yep, I run the Wilson Combat 7 rounders. I've yet to have an issue with mine feeding anything, even the large mouth bass that is the Federal HST 230 grain. These little pistols are a steal!
My dad was a pilot with the 15th AAF, 454th HB GROUP. 739th squadronI have a picture outside of his tent drawing a 1911 45 from his holster. The caption read, "... for those little disagreements." Saw this one at the gun shop and the price was right!
My father was also a pilot with the 15th air force, 99th bomb group, 415th 416th squadron. He brought one home and told me it belonged to an air crew member who didn't come back from a mission. I still have that 1911A1 today. And it still functions perfectly. I use only ball ammo. anything else,(wad cutters or hollow point occasionally would jam). Stick to what it was designed to use and you will have no issues.
Bought a 1911A1 Tisas a few months ago. Shot it at the range twice (about 75 rounds each time) 230 gr ball. No problems. Cleaned it religiously after each trip. Third trip, shot 5 magazines (checkmate and chip mccormick 7 round govt followers) and the firing pin landed in my shirt pocket. Turns out the firing pin stop fell out rendering the gun inoperable. Replaced the firing pin spring (too weak) and the firing pin and stop (sloppy fit) with Wilson Combat parts. Shot 100 rounds without any issues. Seems like an excellent 1911 for the price, but it may need some work to become trustworthy, at least in my experience.
Shot some of the Tisas offerings last month at the IV8888 event and was pretty impressed. Hoping to get one for some long term testing. Great review brother!
Best purchase I have made,329.00 out the door,NIB,2 9 shot magazines. Puppy is Heavy,pretty accurate. Company has a damn good history,been around over 100+years. Several folks that I have met were attracted by the price and craftsmanship. I use basic ammo 230 grain.
The Titsauce is probably the best deal for a bottom of the barrel 1911. I rebuilt mine with Wilson Combat parts and now its like your moms ugly station wagon with a hoped up race engine. Its a great sleeper 1911!
My dad dropped a 350cu in Corvette engine into our old family station wagon and gave it to me to drive at 17 years old. I left a lot of very confused people in my wake. No idea how fast it was because this was before smartphones and GPS but it buried the 120 mph speedometer
Love these guns. I got into 1911s 20 years ago when I bought a Springfield GI for around 400. Then got into more expensive 1911s and sort of got rid of them over the years. Got the Tisas to get back into 1911s and its probably better than the old GI I use to have and loved that I think still sells for around 600 or so. The finishing and machining definitely seems higher quality. These things are not just bargains they are just plain good guns.
I have two of these, one in .45ACP, one in 9mm. They are correct except for the ejection port. Of course no modern production 1911 has the same ejection port as the Ithaca 1943 1911 I have. Hold it beside any modern 1911 and you can really see the difference. Now also have the Service Special on my hip as I write this in .45ACP. And it comes with the flat mainspring cover like the original 1911 did. So I hope Tisas makes the original W W I M1911 some day.
I got my first slide bite from a Ruger Security 9. I just finished checking it to make sure it was clear, went to hit the slide release it wasn't releasing right away so I add a little more Force wasn't paying attention to where my hand was in the slide went forward and got the web between my index and thumb
The 1911 is just a classic. Feels perfect in anyone's hand, and it points true. I got a few. I grabbed this Tisas, and Im so glad I did. Its my favorite now. Its just like the 1911a1 I was issued in 1987 (before Beretta got up to full production) Awesome pistol. And its accurate as hell, and a pleasure to shoot. I love it. The grey cericote is more durable than parkerized finish, but looks very much like that pistol I carried as a new Army tanker years ago .
I paid less then $330 for mine. Occasionally, you'll see them just under $300. My Duty model that features some nice factory upgrades was less than $370. I fire strictly ball ammo through both, but I'm sure the Duty model would handle SD rounds more reliably.

Haven't seen many videos on this I came by this at the gunshop today while shopping for ammo. Noticed two things. One, it resembles the original colt gi model and two, the price was $350. Definitely thinking about getting it now. Either this or the RIA model.
I just bought the Service Special model in .45 ACP, and I absolutely love it! It's such a handsome gun. I haven't shot it yet, but I can't wait to do so. Gonna break it down and clean/lube it before I do. Mine was $368 altogether.
OBTW 1776 composite ammo BREAKS at the brass jamming the projectile in the chamber or the bore. I had MULTIPLE rounds break off. I finished the 50 rd box by HAND LOADING ONE ROUND AT A TIME, since all ammo sales are final.

I bought a tisas Duty and liked it so much I just put one of these on layaway and asked the guy at the shop to get a desperado (.38 super) in and I’ll buy it. My personal experience with tisas so far has been good. Better than my personal experience with Kimber. Lol
I like the 1911. However, I prefer better sights than the original style. A white paint pen on the front sight might help out. Over the years, manufacturers modified the feed ramps of the barrels to ensure the 1911 could handle all types of bullet shapes. A true to history 199A1 will not do well with anything other than the 230gr RN bullet. Browning designed it that way. Decades ago, I had a fine pistol smith modify a 1911 for me and man did that gun run. (still have that Colt). From 185gr to 230gr, from hollow points to flat nosed bullets, it had perfect feeding and extraction. They are still good designs. They can be finicky, might need some love / mods, but their big downside these days is ammo count. I carried one concealed for several decades until I switched over to a G19. I still love to plink with a 1911. Now I am quite attached to and practiced with a G19, and that gun feels perfect for me. Tisas is making headway in America. They seem to be of decent quality. I loved my Colts because of their triggers!
"Browning designed it that way." JMB was working under two constraints imposed by the Army. The first was the Thompson-LaGarde Tests of 1904 which concluded that the United States Army must adopt at least a .45-caliber round for its new service sidearm. Prior to that, Browning favored his semi-rimmed .38 ACP cartridge, the direct ancestor of our current .38 Super round. The other constraint was the 1899 Hague Convention that banned military use of expanding bullets. A self-imposed constraint was the relatively low chamber pressure of Browning's .45 ACP round, which made his 1911-model pistol exceptionally durable. Most feed problems with the Tisas 1911 models are caused by the magazine. Tisas relies on outside sources for the mags supplied with their pistols, mainly Mec-Gar and Check-Mate. I think the Check-Mates are superior, and if that's what you got with your Tisas 1911, then you're probably good to go with whatever ammo you choose as long as it's factory-made and not somebody's reload. If they're Mec-Gars or unbranded, then you might consider an investment in a couple of Chip McCormicks.
My thoughts exactly, a true 1911a1 clone is most likely going to only want a diet of hardball or at the very least be very picky with JHPs. Both Tisas 1911s i own (B45R and a Stingray 45) love JHPs. No issues at all with the included 8rnd mec-gar mags but i always carry with Wilson Combat. Preferred round is the 220+P Critical Duty or Speer Gold Dot 200+P. Averaging about 495ft lbs of energy at the muzzle, no joke.
@ProjectSerpo90 Thanks for confirmation. I assume the guns run like a sewing machine. The majority of current day 1911 handguns are based on what is called a series 70 design. That was big time development for the gun. Your choices of ammo are good. There is still a lot right with the 45ACP cartridge. I like to use a 200gr FP bullet in a Ruger Blackhawk convertible single action using the 45acp cylinder for close range hogs. My handload is going about 900fps. Out to 25yds, about the farthest shot yet, it puts them right down. Your ammo will do just fine for bad guys.
Holy Hell I want that!! FINALLY the 80s are over and can get an A1 WITHOUT a polished hood!!! I bet it'd run all the HP no issues with a quick feed ramp polish (like my Kimber and Dan Wesson)
I have an RAC A1 and a Kimber... Both of them cycle my 230 Grain Cast Reloads like nobody's business.... I've owned a few 1911's over the years and have never had one that would cycle Hollow Points or any "Defensive Ammo" reliability ... They were designed for 230 Ball Ammo, and that's all I would ever trust if I would carry a 1911....
I got one last year. I wanted the US Army clone version. I even looked for an earlier import one strictly for the artwork box it came in vs the current plastic case and was not able to find one so I got the current offering. It's a great looking gun but I haven't taken it out to shoot yet. I'd prefer it run hollow point ammo but if not I won't lose any sleep since I got it for the Army connection.
i have the Tisas 1911a1 also, had it for 4 years now, ran 1300+ rounds thru it and only had 2 Malfunctions, one was a Failure to feed due to round set to deep in casing, and 2nd was a Bad Round would not discharge. nothing since then. Damn Fine Firearm about to buy another one soon. price was perfect got it under 400.00, i think it handles better than my Kimber i inherited .
This was almost my first 1911 last year but I couldn't find them in stores so I got a RIA 1911. Has similar or same sights which I was going to replace but I grew to like them. They're small so you can make precision shots. Front sight doesn't cover the target & the rear sight isn't too wide. Fortunately it shoots spot on, no adjustment needed. One of my range guns now. 9mm ammo is half the price of 45 so I got that one.
i bought one brand new and i love this gun. i see what ur talking saying about the clip release being a little far for the thumb. but other than that i have 0 complaints. 10/10 recommend
I've been shooting the M1911 for more than 50 years now. My suggestions? Ditch that isosceles stance and go to the Weaver stance. The Weaver stance was used in the days before body armor, and by turning your body sideways to the target in the Weaver stance you place your upper arm and bicep muscles between your chest cavity and your opponent's gun. The isosceles stance presents your opponent with a big target of lungs and heart. But if you are a police officer wearing body armor that covers that area that's probably advantageous, as the Weaver stance presents a big gap in your body armor on the sides, and the big arm hole, that the isosceles does not. When you draw the pistol, make sure that the barrel is in line with the bones in your strong-side forearm. After you sweep the safety off with the strong-side thumb, curl that thumb down along the grip. Your weak hand should wrap around your strong hand fingers and the weak hand thumb should be on top of the strong hand thumbnail. And grip the pistol TIGHT! Like it is a hammer. Why throw out 45 million years of opposable thumb evolution? If you have your thumbs pointing forward, or even worse sticking up in the air like bunny ears, the thumbs are not contributing to retention of the gun - your opponent could grab the slide and twist the pistol out of your hand. Retaining the firearm is the FIRST PRIORITY! It's really embarrassing to have your opponent walk away with your pistol after he leaves you in the dirt. After the shot, don't let your trigger finger jump out of contact with the trigger. The M1911 is the gold standard for trigger pull and has the shortest reset of any fighting pistol ever built, so ride that trigger! You will feel and learn the click of the reset. Then as soon as the sights align with the target again add a little pressure and the next shot is on the way. Repeat until the opponent gives up - in whatever form that takes. Really though, your shot groups were nothing to be shamed about. What was you range? 7 yards? It would have for sure done the job.
Tisas feed ramps are a bit short (or a lot!) - most are in the .335-.355 inch range - usually not deep enough to run JHP ammo reliable. You need at least .375" to .400" Also some Tisas feed ramp angles are off the spec of 31.5 degrees. I have seen as much as 34 degrees.

I know a retired LEO. He carried a Glock 21. His department issued Remington 230 grain hollow points (Golden Saber). And, he never had to use that round on duty. Whatever happened to that round? Be well, Sir!
I have there Special Edition on my hip as I write this. The only difference as far as I can tell is the main spring and housing are flat like on the original M1911. I keep telling them they should go ahead and do an M1911 since two parts are already done. I want to get one of there M1944A1's. I have seen Tisas 1911 shoot Hornady 185gr jhp with no problem. I agree on the reload issue but he said the word that fixes it, practice, practice and practice. If it doesn't bite you it's not an accurate reproduction. Right?
In the Army at 17 shot expert with a .45 Bought a Tisas A1 .45 better than shake and rattle Army issue was in a Special unit so Armor droped in competition barrels and bushings during Vietnam at the end loved the .45 those not able to handle the .45 were given a S&W mod 10 .38 lol sorry MPs

my only issue with this weapon is the downward beavertail. i get hammer bite to the point I started bleeding after 3 shots. For this weapon I have to wear a glove or wrap a towel around my hand.

Nice review! There's already a newer version of this pistol out. The Ceracote finish is now phosphate. The ejection port is original size, and the mag well bevel is gone. There are no markings at all on the slide. The trigger is as perfect as I could want. It comes with walnut grips but a set of plastic grips are included. There are two matching Mec-Gar mags.

These Tisas are great. I only have one issue with them, and all 70+ series. The base models come with the best thumb safety. There's not much to them they feel positive when disengaged, and you can truly feel they safety disengage. I never liked the Series 70 style safety. I actually hate them. Never was at ease using them.
Turkish money against the US dollar is very weak, and thus the price to quality ratio. I just got their 1911 A1 US Army model today (after tons of research). Black Friday sale for $300. The fact that these guns are machined AFTER hardening says a lot. It costs more to machine hardened parts. Also, since the parts are machined after hardening, there is less variation from "zero." In other words, when you heat treat after machining there can be expansion and contraction that changes dimension or shape to some degree. However, when machining AFTER heat treatment, you machine to the exact tolerance you want, and it is NOT going to change. This is a quality firearm, and at $300 a person cannot afford to NOT buy one.
Any "GI Model" 1911 will bite the web of your hand between the thumb and pointer finger if you choke up on the grip too hard... Sometimes ya don't even got to do that.... I think Mr. Browning had small hands.... He had to!... Haha!

As an old medic who carried a 45 in RVN , and having bought a few over the years . I can say that IMHO , this is a really good 1911 for the $$ .

I still have that 1911A1 today. And it still functions perfectly. I use only ball ammo. anything else,(wad cutters or hollow point occasionally would jam). Stick to what it was designed to use and you will have no issues.

Bought a 1911A1 Tisas a few months ago. Shot it at the range twice (about 75 rounds each time) 230 gr ball. No problems. Cleaned it religiously after each trip. Third trip, shot 5 magazines (checkmate and chip mccormick 7 round govt followers) and the firing pin landed in my shirt pocket. Turns out the firing pin stop fell out rendering the gun inoperable. Replaced the firing pin spring (too weak) and the firing pin and stop (sloppy fit) with Wilson Combat parts. Shot 100 rounds without any issues. Seems like an excellent 1911 for the price, but it may need some work to become trustworthy, at least in my experience.
The Tisas 1911 was my first 1911. I don't have much to compare it to but I like it and have had no issues.

Best purchase I have made,329.00 out the door,NIB,2 9 shot magazines. Puppy is Heavy,pretty accurate. Company has a damn good history,been around over 100+years. Several folks that I have met were attracted by the price and craftsmanship. I use basic ammo 230 grain.
The Titsauce is probably the best deal for a bottom of the barrel 1911. I rebuilt mine with Wilson Combat parts and now its like your moms ugly station wagon with a hoped up race engine. Its a great sleeper 1911!
My dad dropped a 350cu in Corvette engine into our old family station wagon and gave it to me to drive at 17 years old.

Love these guns. I got into 1911s 20 years ago when I bought a Springfield GI for around 400. Then got into more expensive 1911s and sort of got rid of them over the years. Got the Tisas to get back into 1911s and its probably better than the old GI I use to have and loved that I think still sells for around 600 or so. The finishing and machining definitely seems higher quality. These things are not just bargains they are just plain good guns.
Have 2 tisas 1911s. Plan on buying more. Great value
I have two of these, one in .45ACP, one in 9mm. They are correct except for the ejection port. Of course no modern production 1911 has the same ejection port as the Ithaca 1943 1911 I have. Hold it beside any modern 1911 and you can really see the difference. Now also have the Service Special on my hip as I write this in .45ACP. And it comes with the flat mainspring cover like the original 1911 did. So I hope Tisas makes the original W W I M1911 some day.

I got my first slide bite from a Ruger Security 9. I just finished checking it to make sure it was clear, went to hit the slide release it wasn't releasing right away so I add a little more Force wasn't paying attention to where my hand was in the slide went forward and got the web between my index and thumb
Polish the feed ramp and get good magazines. If you do this, they will function as well as any 1911 on the market.

I got a few. I grabbed this Tisas, and Im so glad I did. Its my favorite now. Its just like the 1911a1 I was issued in 1987 (before Beretta got up to full production)

The grey cericote is more durable than parkerized finish, but looks very much like that pistol I carried as a new Army tanker years ago .

I paid less then $330 for mine. Occasionally, you'll see them just under $300. My Duty model that features some nice factory upgrades was less than $370. I fire strictly ball ammo through both, but I'm sure the Duty model would handle SD rounds more reliably.

Haven't seen many videos on this I came by this at the gunshop today while shopping for ammo. Noticed two things. One, it resembles the original colt gi model and two, the price was $350. Definitely thinking about getting it now. Either this or the RIA model.

I've watched a few videos of this Tisas 1911 now, maybe about 10 of them, and never a negative review. So glad to hear that. I might have to get one.
I just bought the Service Special model in .45 ACP, and I absolutely love it! It's such a handsome gun. I haven't shot it yet, but I can't wait to do so. Gonna break it down and clean/lube it before I do. Mine was $368 altogether.
OBTW 1776 composite ammo BREAKS at the brass jamming the projectile in the chamber or the bore. I had MULTIPLE rounds break off. I finished the 50 rd box by HAND LOADING ONE ROUND AT A TIME, since all ammo sales are final.

I am a revolver guy but the 1911 and Makarov are so classic I could definitely go for them.
I bought a tisas Duty and liked it so much I just put one of these on layaway and asked the guy at the shop to get a desperado (.38 super) in and I’ll buy it.
My personal experience with tisas so far has been good. Better than my personal experience with Kimber. Lol
I have a .22, .22 WMR, 9mm, and a TISAS .45 ACP 1911.
I like the 1911. However, I prefer better sights than the original style. A white paint pen on the front sight might help out. Over the years, manufacturers modified the feed ramps of the barrels to ensure the 1911 could handle all types of bullet shapes. A true to history 199A1 will not do well with anything other than the 230gr RN bullet. Browning designed it that way. Decades ago, I had a fine pistol smith modify a 1911 for me and man did that gun run. (still have that Colt). From 185gr to 230gr, from hollow points to flat nosed bullets, it had perfect feeding and extraction. They are still good designs. They can be finicky, might need some love / mods, but their big downside these days is ammo count. I carried one concealed for several decades until I switched over to a G19. I still love to plink with a 1911. Now I am quite attached to and practiced with a G19, and that gun feels perfect for me. Tisas is making headway in America. They seem to be of decent quality. I loved my Colts because of their triggers!

"Browning designed it that way." JMB was working under two constraints imposed by the Army. The first was the Thompson-LaGarde Tests of 1904 which concluded that the United States Army must adopt at least a .45-caliber round for its new service sidearm. Prior to that, Browning favored his semi-rimmed .38 ACP cartridge, the direct ancestor of our current .38 Super round. The other constraint was the 1899 Hague Convention that banned military use of expanding bullets. A self-imposed constraint was the relatively low chamber pressure of Browning's .45 ACP round, which made his 1911-model pistol exceptionally durable.
Most feed problems with the Tisas 1911 models are caused by the magazine. Tisas relies on outside sources for the mags supplied with their pistols, mainly Mec-Gar and Check-Mate. I think the Check-Mates are superior, and if that's what you got with your Tisas 1911, then you're probably good to go with whatever ammo you choose as long as it's factory-made and not somebody's reload. If they're Mec-Gars or unbranded, then you might consider an investment in a couple of Chip McCormicks.

My thoughts exactly, a true 1911a1 clone is most likely going to only want a diet of hardball or at the very least be very picky with JHPs. Both Tisas 1911s i own (B45R and a Stingray 45) love JHPs. No issues at all with the included 8rnd mec-gar mags but i always carry with Wilson Combat. Preferred round is the 220+P Critical Duty or Speer Gold Dot 200+P. Averaging about 495ft lbs of energy at the muzzle, no joke.
@ProjectSerpo90 Thanks for confirmation. I assume the guns run like a sewing machine. The majority of current day 1911 handguns are based on what is called a series 70 design. That was big time development for the gun. Your choices of ammo are good. There is still a lot right with the 45ACP cartridge. I like to use a 200gr FP bullet in a Ruger Blackhawk convertible single action using the 45acp cylinder for close range hogs. My handload is going about 900fps. Out to 25yds, about the farthest shot yet, it puts them right down. Your ammo will do just fine for bad guys.

I have an RAC A1 and a Kimber... Both of them cycle my 230 Grain Cast Reloads like nobody's business.... I've owned a few 1911's over the years and have never had one that would cycle Hollow Points or any "Defensive Ammo" reliability ... They were designed for 230 Ball Ammo, and that's all I would ever trust if I would carry a 1911....
I got one last year. I wanted the US Army clone version. I even looked for an earlier import one strictly for the artwork box it came in vs the current plastic case and was not able to find one so I got the current offering. It's a great looking gun but I haven't taken it out to shoot yet. I'd prefer it run hollow point ammo but if not I won't lose any sleep since I got it for the Army connection.

i have the Tisas 1911a1 also, had it for 4 years now, ran 1300+ rounds thru it and only had 2 Malfunctions, one was a Failure to feed due to round set to deep in casing, and 2nd was a Bad Round would not discharge. nothing since then. Damn Fine Firearm about to buy another one soon. price was perfect got it under 400.00, i think it handles better than my Kimber i inherited .
Tisas do offer very good 1911 options at a reasonable price.
This was almost my first 1911 last year but I couldn't find them in stores so I got a RIA 1911. Has similar or same sights which I was going to replace but I grew to like them. They're small so you can make precision shots. Front sight doesn't cover the target & the rear sight isn't too wide. Fortunately it shoots spot on, no adjustment needed. One of my range guns now. 9mm ammo is half the price of 45 so I got that one.
i bought one brand new and i love this gun. i see what ur talking saying about the clip release being a little far for the thumb. but other than that i have 0 complaints. 10/10 recommend

I've been shooting the M1911 for more than 50 years now. My suggestions? Ditch that isosceles stance and go to the Weaver stance. The Weaver stance was used in the days before body armor, and by turning your body sideways to the target in the Weaver stance you place your upper arm and bicep muscles between your chest cavity and your opponent's gun. The isosceles stance presents your opponent with a big target of lungs and heart. But if you are a police officer wearing body armor that covers that area that's probably advantageous, as the Weaver stance presents a big gap in your body armor on the sides, and the big arm hole, that the isosceles does not.
When you draw the pistol, make sure that the barrel is in line with the bones in your strong-side forearm. After you sweep the safety off with the strong-side thumb, curl that thumb down along the grip. Your weak hand should wrap around your strong hand fingers and the weak hand thumb should be on top of the strong hand thumbnail. And grip the pistol TIGHT! Like it is a hammer. Why throw out 45 million years of opposable thumb evolution? If you have your thumbs pointing forward, or even worse sticking up in the air like bunny ears, the thumbs are not contributing to retention of the gun - your opponent could grab the slide and twist the pistol out of your hand. Retaining the firearm is the FIRST PRIORITY! It's really embarrassing to have your opponent walk away with your pistol after he leaves you in the dirt.
After the shot, don't let your trigger finger jump out of contact with the trigger. The M1911 is the gold standard for trigger pull and has the shortest reset of any fighting pistol ever built, so ride that trigger! You will feel and learn the click of the reset. Then as soon as the sights align with the target again add a little pressure and the next shot is on the way. Repeat until the opponent gives up - in whatever form that takes.
Really though, your shot groups were nothing to be shamed about. What was you range? 7 yards? It would have for sure done the job.

Try a wilson combat bullet proof extractor and wilson combat 47D mags.
Tisas feed ramps are a bit short (or a lot!) - most are in the .335-.355 inch range - usually not deep enough to run JHP ammo reliable. You need at least .375" to .400" Also some Tisas feed ramp angles are off the spec of 31.5 degrees. I have seen as much as 34 degrees.

I know a retired LEO. He carried a Glock 21. His department issued Remington 230 grain hollow points (Golden Saber). And, he never had to use that round on duty.

I have there Special Edition on my hip as I write this. The only difference as far as I can tell is the main spring and housing are flat like on the original M1911. I keep telling them they should go ahead and do an M1911 since two parts are already done. I want to get one of there M1944A1's.
I have seen Tisas 1911 shoot Hornady 185gr jhp with no problem.
I agree on the reload issue but he said the word that fixes it, practice, practice and practice.

In the Army at 17 shot expert with a .45 Bought a Tisas A1 .45 better than shake and rattle Army issue was in a Special unit so Armor droped in competition barrels and bushings during Vietnam at the end loved the .45 those not able to handle the .45 were given a S&W mod 10 .38 lol sorry MPs

my only issue with this weapon is the downward beavertail. i get hammer bite to the point I started bleeding after 3 shots. For this weapon I have to wear a glove or wrap a towel around my hand.

Nice review! There's already a newer version of this pistol out. The Ceracote finish is now phosphate. The ejection port is original size, and the mag well bevel is gone. There are no markings at all on the slide. The trigger is as perfect as I could want. It comes with walnut grips but a set of plastic grips are included. There are two matching Mec-Gar mags.
Only downside is the hammer bite otherwise hands down my favorite

Sorry, but you can easily hit that magazine release without adjusting your grip. You dont need to use the heel of your thumb for all things firearm.

I've had a terrible time with Tisas. They sent me a lemon and a month later I'm still waiting to hear what was wrong and why I don't have it back yet.
These Tisas are great. I only have one issue with them, and all 70+ series. The base models come with the best thumb safety. There's not much to them they feel positive when disengaged, and you can truly feel they safety disengage. I never liked the Series 70 style safety. I actually hate them. Never was at ease using them.

Turkish money against the US dollar is very weak, and thus the price to quality ratio. I just got their 1911 A1 US Army model today (after tons of research). Black Friday sale for $300. The fact that these guns are machined AFTER hardening says a lot. It costs more to machine hardened parts. Also, since the parts are machined after hardening, there is less variation from "zero." In other words, when you heat treat after machining there can be expansion and contraction that changes dimension or shape to some degree. However, when machining AFTER heat treatment, you machine to the exact tolerance you want, and it is NOT going to change. This is a quality firearm, and at $300 a person cannot afford to NOT buy one.
Any "GI Model" 1911 will bite the web of your hand between the thumb and pointer finger if you choke up on the grip too hard... Sometimes ya don't even got to do that.... I think Mr. Browning had small hands.... He had to!... Haha!
Gold Dots seem to be troublesome even in my Colts and Springfield Armory with other mags . Won't use Metgar mag's
Polish the feed ramp. Those hollow points will feed afterwards.
