    i have a 2004 impala LS MY POWER steering fluid just suddenly leaked all out of my car...i had some put back in and it kind of shot the fluid back up....could this be one of the lines needs to be replaced? or the whole pump itself?

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be a line, pump, or steering rack. You will need to determine the location of the leak to find out which part failed.

    I have an 04 Dodge Stratus and when I turn the wheel the steering wheel feels like it pulsates and it sounds like the belt is squeaking ! It's also hard to turn ! Even I get it up to around 20 it all goes away and it smooth but when I slow to turn it gets hard again and the squeaks return !Please help

      I dont know if you fixed the issue as its been a year since this comment, but it sounds like the belt that drives the pump doesnt spin the pump fast enough because it's slipping until the engine's rpms are higher

    hopefully you can help me, My rack and pinion was recently replaced at 150k miles.Just prior to that, and still i have a whine that happens after it comes to temperature, and ive driven for a while. no resistance in the wheel. Fizzy fluid, and a horrendous whine that can be heard over the ac in the cab when turning. only, when turning. no loss of steer ability though.... 2002 dodge dak 4.7

      i have, and it was. however, it ended up that the filter/screen on the reservoir was dirty and clogged, it starved the pump of fluid, and the pump died. new pump, clean reservoir. all good.

    I have a 03 Dodge 1500 5.7 four by four and the power steering is fine until I slowed way down and have to turn, then it gets extremely hard to turn. However it does not wine and it is not low on power steering fluid. Being that it is a 03 model I was wondering if the power steering fluid is super old and if the pump would work better if I'm done the lines and drain the pump and refilled it with new power steering fluid? Thanks oh, by the way your video was great. I'll take anyone's answer in case this guy does not see my comment. Again thanks.

    I'm not getting any noise but the power steering is intermittent, sometimes it's working fine and then it just goes out. This started after christmas, I had the pump replaced last summer for leaking and just replaced the reservoir and a couple hoses for leaking. Any suggestions?

    I have a 2010 Crown Victoria (without variable-assist power steering) whose power steering feels lazy. The pump isn't loud, and the serpentine belt is without cracks / wear. Tie rods are also good, as well as the steering shaft(s). Maybe the issue could be the belt tension? The rack is also suspect, though the current one has no leaks. I do notice, however, that the fluid in the reservoir seems to stay put when I turn the wheel; this could possibly mean that there's a clog somewhere, or that pressure is unable to build. Maybe I'm answering my own question(?)

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can have the pump pressure tested and the fluid could even be old. Depends on the system, but the fluid should stay the same level. Here is a video I have specifically for stiff steering th-cam.com/video/5i1B3yzsQqw/w-d-xo.html

    I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota and have taken it to the shop to have the power steering fixed two times now ($1000 later) and still the problem persists. Pump was replaced last time. Mechanic also admitted he poked a hole in the filter to ensure that there was fluid flow. Worked OK for a bit and now having problems again. On a drive from LA to Houston I noticed after a few hours of driving that when exiting freeway ramps it was tight when turning. Primarily when braking and turning. Accelerating and turning not so much. Started happening more and more. By the time I left Houston to come back to LA it got so bad that it went out completely. No power steering at all after a few hours of driving. I should say there was absolutely no "whine" in the system when moving the wheel back and forth. Just a gradual intermittent loss of the ability to turn the wheel back and forth until complete loss of steering. I don't know what else to do.

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope he replaced the filter as it defeats the purpose of preventing dirt entering the system. As for the issue... Sounds like you may have an issue with either ball joints or tie rods becoming seized. If they have grease fittings, then you can add more grease. If not, you might be able to pop the rubber boot back, but it's a tough job. The lubricant does dry out over time or if the boots are cracked, they'll let in moisture, dirt, and the lubricant will escape.

    240 volvo I hit a concrete parking space divider, and broke/crushed the front line on the steering gear rack. I cut out the one inch damaged section using a compresstion fitting. Filled the reservoir with Lucas power steering fluid with conditioner. The steering I can live with, but iits much stiffer now then before I had the accident. Backround---when I broke it I drive straight home about two miles while it was leaking repidily, and the steering progressively got tighter and tighter. No dents on the rack assembly just behind the fluid line. Could I have damaged the steering gear, and please give guidance what I could try to correct the problem? Thank you for your advice. bruce stewart

    Everytime I go over a small lil bump, I would hear a clunking noise & couple months ago I could've turn all the way to the left or right & I would feel the pressure pushing the steering wheel, now it would take a lot of turn until it takes my wheel to stop turning. Idk what's the problem. It's a 2011 kia rio.

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Montell Miller The clunking noise can be a faulty suspension part such as a ball joint, tie rod, bushing, or sway bar link. Being that the steering is hard, then it is most likely a ball joint or tie rod which is worn and slowly seizing.

    • @cwazyboyful
      @cwazyboyful 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +4DIYers thanks for the solution of the noise. But I the steering isn't hard. It's just that I would have to turn the steering wheel farther than usual just for the tires to turn.

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem. Your vehicle is most likely equipped with electric steering then, therefore there is no direct contact between the steering wheel and steering rack. Some vehicles were equipped with a variable speed steering, so at a slower speed the wheels turn faster and at highway speeds they turn slower. Possibly the module or sensor that controls this has failed.

    hello I have a 2004 ford focus I only have it two weeks. the altenator belt started squealing, I know for a fact it was recently replaced along with timing belt. at first I thought it was the belt but on closer inspection I saw power steering fluid on pump and pulley so I bought some lucas stop leak and a mechanic put it in draining out original fluid first which was just below minimum.
    after I few hours I could feel more acceleration in the car is that normal? the pipe going to pump from resevoir had a spot of fluid on it too.

    Hello there! Good information. I hope you can help me out. I've been hearing a slight whine at complete stops ( I crank the wheel a few degrees and there is when I get the noise) say a traffic light, and it gets a bit louder after a spirited drive. However, the whine goes away when the car is stationary or hasn't move for a while. There are no leaks whatsoever, which leads me to believe, I think, that the reservoir filter is clogged, or there's air in the system. The fluid level was just a tad low, but still in between max and min. Thank you!

    • @terry121288firebird
      @terry121288firebird 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Forgot to mention, that's getting gradually worse.

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Terry Oliveros Thank you. This is most likely related to old fluid. When has it been changed last??? After the fluid gets a certain age is does loose it's lubricating, heat transfer, and power transfer efficiency qualities. If the filter was clogged it wold most likely do it all the time. I would recommend replacing the fluid and if you do, then it would be a good time to replace the filter just to be safe anyway. Some filters can be cleaned as well. I do have a power steering replacement video as well if you're in need of one. It's important to do this sooner than later as you can risk damaging the pump.

      No problem, glad to help out! If you are looking for a longer maintenance interval, you can upgrade to a synthetic if your vehicle doesn't have that from factory. There is a slightly higher cost with the oil change. Being that your vehicle is only four years old, ensure it doesn't void the warranty either. Also if there is still warranty on the vehicle, possibly you can have the maintenance done under dealer cost.

    • @terry121288firebird
      @terry121288firebird 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +4DIYers thank you as always! I took it to the dealer but as usual they said they couldn't replicate the issue. So, I bought the steering fluid indicated on the owner's manual, filled it to max cold (car was cold), and with the cap off, I turn the wheel lock to lock a few times. The fluid level was a bit low, but still in between max and min for cold and hot. After driving the car for a while I haven't heard that particular steering pump noise. I will monitor the car over the following month, if it reappears I will flush the system and clean the reservoir filter. Thanks for everything and regards!

    I have a 2003 Mazda tribute. I was leaking power steering and there was the whining buzzing noise I found a leak in the return hose, I replaced that. there is no more leak & no more sound but now its really hard to turn my steering wheel when before I replaced the hose it was only hard to turn when I was low on fluid. the fluid is fine now since there's no more leak but now I can hardly turn my steering wheel

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Valerie Faliveno Sounds like there is air in the system. You will need to bleed the system which is fairly straight forward. Start the vehicle, leave the cap off, and turn the wheels to full lock left and right a few times.

    I have an 03 durango that has a whine when the car warms up...definately coming from the power steering pump. I've replaced the pump about 2 years ago as well as the rack. It has the oil cooler and am wondering if that could be an issue or maybe the rack or pump has gone bad again. Not seeing any leaks. if I look in the reservoir while you turn the wheel it looks like the flow is good. Not having any steering issues but the noise. Not sure how to troubleshoot, very annoying!

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The system can be pressure tested. What type of replacement pump did you use? Sometimes the cheapo offshore companies can fail sooner rather than later unfortunately. Have you replaced the cap as well? On these particular trucks, the caps can cause excessive pressure build up.

    I have a 02 Dodge Durango. When turning the steering wheel it tends to bind up. Pump isn't making any noise. Seems to be some were above the Rack Pinion and the steering wheel. Besides the intermediate shaft is there anything else that could be the issue?

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      How did you pinpoint it was an issue above the rack and pinion??? You could be looking at a faulty bearing within the steering column unless something is binding up under the dash.

    I have a 2004 Dodge Dakota. For a year now, i'm hearing this screaming sound (much like a small motor) when i'm driving and steer to the LEFT. Even if i only slightly turn the steering towards left. And the sound of the screaming motor increases into higher pitch as my speed increases to 30 - 50mph. If i just stay idle with engine ON...the steering does not make any whining sound if i steer it left or right. There is no visible fluid leak and the reservoir is on normal level

    • @4DIYers

    Hi recently my power steering went out on my car. Very stiff steering and made a whining noise. So I replaced the pump and the whining went away but the power steering was still not there. I've bled the system using the right procedure but the weird thing was when I turned the wheel to the left, no bubbles came out the reservoir. But turning right almost made the reservoir overflow. No signs of leakage throughout the lines as far as I can tell. Need fixed fast. What could it be? Appreciate your help!

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      What kind of vehicle? How many times did you turn the wheel lock to lock and what type of replacement pump did you purchase? Some replacement pumps can be faulty, other times the filter maybe plugged if equipped and should be replaced when a new pump is installed, and also a faulty flow control valve.

    • @Bigfatpauly__
      @Bigfatpauly__ 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's for a 2000 Acura 3.5RL. I turned the wheel lock to lock about 30-40 times during the bleeding process. The pump I got was a reman from AutoZone. But if the pump was faulty. Wouldn't I hear the whining sound? I have not replaced the filter in the reservoir yet. Is it possible to just clean it instead of replacement? And also this problem wouldn't necessarily be in the rack and pinion, would it?

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You won't necessarily hearing a whining noise. If you increase the rpm of the engine when the car is parked and turn the wheel as opposed to idle, is it still hard to turn??? Yes some filters can be cleaned, it depends on the style. It's good practice to either clean (if possible) or replace as you have already installed new fluid and it can put added strain on the pump. Most likely not. You would feel an issue to one side or another along with play or steering wandering.

    • @Bigfatpauly__

      I've noticed so far while driving that the power steering is completely gone while it's cold, but when I warm the car up there is the VERY slightest difference in steering assist. • @Bigfatpauly__

    I have a 2002 buick regal(not supercharged) when I turn right, (no noise when turning left) there is slight squeak that seems to pulse so squeak squeak, quiet then squeak squeak not a squeal. I noticed that my power steering fluid was low, I have filled it and checked for leak(none found) and checked fluid level again after driving which was fine. I am also getting a squeak over bumps, similar to a rrr rrr like a bed spring, probably a strut or shock. Just wondering if you think that all noise is suspension related or whether I am dealing with a suspension and steering problem? Thank you in advance for any help.

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +C Pearce Have you tried turning the steering with the engine off??? If there is a fault with the power steering pump, the pump may not make any noise when the wheels are centered but will make a noise in both directions. So in this situation your pump is most likely fine. Unless there was air in the system, then of course it would need to be bleed. How low was the fluid??? If you are noticing a squeak while driving and when turning to one side, then it is most likely a steering or suspension component such as a dry sway bar bushing, sway bar link, ball joint, or tie rod. Inspect any boots for cracks and if they are equipped with grease fittings, then add some grease.

    Power steering pump has been replace 3 times. The 1st time the pump was puncture when it was replace. Second time it went out again because the Rack and pinion was bad so the rack was replace and a new pump was place in. But now the power steering is still whining at times and not keeping fluid when I drive long distances, but it's not leaking anywhere the lines were flushes supposely and the pump cap was replace. I own a 2007 Chevy Impala and the steering wheel is a bit stiff and every time I turn (both left and right usually at lower speeds) there are multiple cracking noises. Could this be from low power steering fluid or maybe from something more serious?

      +bosco De La Mora Have you checked the power steering fluid level??? It could possibly be, but the fluid maybe old and in need of replacement. You can also be experiencing seizing steering components too. Is your power steering making any whining noises???

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does it turn hard after a certain point when steering left and right and does this occur after the vehicle has been running for a period of time??? First place to check would be the power steering fluid and determine when it was last changed. Along with that, was the filter replaced if equipped. Next would be to bleeding to system of air to ensure there is no present in the system. Another issue can also be a slipped belt, this should be follow by a squealing. Tighten if needed or replace due to a glazed belt. If it passes those issues, then jack up the vehicle, with the wheels off the ground check to see if this occurs both with the engine running and not.

    hey quick question, my subaru impreza rs had harsh stiff steering at low speeds, as well as the whining noise, the wheel locked up while i was driving the following day and pulled over on the side of the road, now the steering is extremely hard to turn, mechanic quoted me close to $2000 as he thinks i needa new steering column rack, can anyone give me their thoughts on what i should do?

    what if the steering wheel isn't rotating back to the center position when turning left or right,while the car is driving in motion,after releasing it?
    what could be the problem?

    • @4DIYers

      That would be relating to a fault with the tires, seizing ball joints or tie rods, or the steering isn't aligned properly.

    Hi,
    On my ML500, 2006, steering becomes stiff only when the engine is warmed up and in low revs, when parking. Otherwise I have no issues. When engine is cold everything is normal, even in low revs, for the first say 20 minutes. But once it's warmed up, it gets really stiff when parking. I have to push the gas slightly during parking to do some steering.
    Thanks,

    • @AndyNav1

    • @4DIYers

      Old fluid will increase friction as it maybe dirty and it will have broken down from the heat. Therefore it can put strain on the power steering system, especially once the system has warmed up.

    Great video. I have a question. I have an E39 2002 model 530 diesel automatic car with the M57 engine (CA980-40). I changed engine, transmission and hydrauolic steering fluid *2 times and my steering is still very hard. The pump seems to be working because when I flushed it, I noticed it was sucking the new fluid in when I was turning the steering from left to right. Yet, I have a terrible steering - it is very heavy and sometimes I have to really use to hands. Could you give me ideas where to check? Or do you think the rank and the pinion is probably gone bad? Although I cannot see any leaks from it. The car is 15 years old at 63K.

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Turhan Uludağ Thank you. Have you also replaced the filter for the power steering system??? Does the pump make any noise or does it whine??? The pump can be pressure tested to ensure it meets factory specifications. It's not very common for a rack to get stiff unless there is an internal failure. Other issues which can cause this is failing ball joints, failing tie rods, or an alignment issue. For inspecting ball joints and tie rods, their rubber joint covers can crack letting in dirt and moisture which would cause them to seize up.

    • @djirony77
      @djirony77 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your reply. I haven't changed the filter inside the reservoir (pump). The pump does not whine or make a terrible sound. It looks like its doing it's job. I changed the front suspensions and had the control arms checked and the ball joints look OK but then again they haven't been taken out. They were just inspected and kind of moved around with a crowbar. I also had the alignment done but I am not satisfied with it. I am guessing camber/caster problems. Tie rods were changed but not with Genuine brand. I think they were CORTEGO brand. I will try if I can get pressure tested them.

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem. It's just a mesh filter and does have a fair amount of surface area. If it's not whining, then the filter is most likely fine. Does the steering wheel return easily when you are driving??? They may not have any play, but check the rubber covers for any cracks or tears. Why are you not satisfied with the alignment???

    • @djirony77
      @djirony77 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope the steering pump is fine too since it is not making any whining noise. The wheel does return back as smoothly as possible. There is no rattling or clunking/clankin? noise when I turn the wheel left to right so I donno. I am also suspecting the steering u-joint if that has gone bad too. Or if there is a small guibo/flex disc as there is one in the drive shaft but I am not sure. I am not sure however which rubber covers you are referring too.
      I am not satisfied with the alignment because I am just not sure if it has been done correctly.
      The alignment that was done for my car was done according pretty much to 5.30i gasoline version. I couldn’t and the mechanic couldn’t find my car 530d on his computer so he aligned it approximately for the 530i version. Also, I have seen somewhere that if you have lose parts in the front control arms/upper/lower parts and that the tie rods or the inner tie rods have gone bad, the alignment will not hold or will not last for a long time. So I am just suspecting that the alignment that I did hasn’t made much of a difference.
      On the highway, there isn’t much of a problem. Actually, there isn’t much problem, nothing to bother. But in the city, the road isn’t as new and I don’t want to say the road has potholes but the road is uneven to a certain degree. And in these roads, when I accelerate a little bit (up to 30/35 miles an hour) and when I suddenly hit the brakes, I feel the front tires feel shaky. What I mean by that is they seem to make me feel they are loose or as if they have a lot of movement in them, especially the right one. My wheels are 15 years old and I think two of them have had a little impact. I have put them at the rear. I am also suspecting bearings of the wheels and I think one of them has a play in the wheel. Since any BMW car parts are usually very expensive if you want to buy a genuine one or even a good aftermarket one, I wanted to know where to start and fix the car. That’s why I wrote to you in the first place. And I think I am going to do a full inspection for about 100 dollars and learn all the problems about the car. Thanks again for your time.

    • @djirony77
      @djirony77 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had my mechanic check the problem. He says that it is not the transmission problem or its mounts but rather the rear axle. He drove it and also checked it and showed it to me. There is a little play at the long shaft that is connected to the transmission. It is not the part that connects to the transmission directly (where the guibo is) but rather at the back place where the transaxle is. If that is the case I really do not know what do since it costs around 1000 euros of BMW genuine. I have seen a video related to rear axles and the guy says these usually wear out after 100K or even at 200K miles. I really couldn't understand why mine went at 65K miles. Again, if that is the problem. The mechanic is sure that is the problem. He says that if it had been the transmission mounts, the car would vibrate a lot even at stand still, I am not sure if that's correct.
      The vibration is getting worse, not by much, but it is getting worse. My main problem is I feel vibration under my feet where the gas pedal is - when I touch it it gives me that feeling. I feel it more when I push it and let it go.

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is most likely an issue with air in the system then. And you must do this immediately, as prolonged periods with air in the system will damage the pump. Park the vehicle on a level ground, start the engine, loosen the power steering reservoir cap, and turn the steering to full lock left and right a few times each way. Keep an eye on the pump level, you will notice bubbling in the fluid which is perfectly normal due to the air being bleed from the system. Add fluid when needed. As for the alignment, considering you had the tie rods disconnect and possibly other suspension components, your vehicle is most likely not to specs now. This can also cause issues with steering, not to mention increase wear on your tires. Therefore this is something I would also recommend, otherwise you'll be replacing tires much sooner.

      Check out my video on washing an engine. It not only makes it easier to spot a leak, but when the repair needs to be done, it's much nicer to work on a clean engine. Sounds like it's a significant leak so when the engine is running and the system is pressurized, there should be no problem spotting the leak. As for the misfire, scan the codes first. It could be something simple like a bad plug or more complicated like a compression issue.

    I have a Toyota corolla 2003. My problem is that my Power Steering all the time turns on and off.
    Usually when I turn on the car the power steering works and the PS light is off, every other drive after a few minutes the PS light turns on and my PS stops working and it is like driving a truck. Sometimes I stop at the side and turn off the car and turn on and the PS problem goes away, and sometimes it stays on and it is hard to drive.
    I have tried to reset the main computer of the car. Usually it helps for a few days, though the problem always comes back at some point.
    I have been to many mechanics. Each one says it is something else: Bad Battery, Bad EPS, Bad steering Module, and more.
    What Should I do, can I fix this by myself?!?!

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you park the car, are the wheels straight? If not, that could be causing the fault and making the motor work excessively (assuming you have electric power steering). You may also be looking at an alignment issue, old fluid which is in need of replacement, failing sensor, failing electric motor, or failing pump.

    Is my power steering just low or going bad ? When I first start my car , everything is fine .. but if I drive for about 15 minutes with a few turns in between my wheel starts to get stiff - but if I turn my car off and suddenly back on .. my wheel is fine again . I’m not sure if I should add fluid because it’s extremely low or is it too late and the pump is going bad due to lack of oil ?

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Low fluid will cause those symptoms, however if you let it go for too long, the pump will eventually overheat and fail, then require a replacement. Add fluid, your owner's manual should outline which type is required. Make sure the system is bleed if it's excessively low (I have a video for that).

    Hi. I have a super big favor. I was hoping you might be able to tell me what might possibly be wrong with my vehicle. We have a 08 Dodge Caravan that is making a loud whining like noise. We took it to a couple mechanics and some said it was the alternator and some said it was the power steering pump. We replaced the alternator with cost us $250, car still made the noise. We replaced the power steering pump, the car still is making the noise. The mechanic said he actually put 3 of them on thinking maybe the first 2 were also bad and he flushed the system 5 times, Car is still making the noise. We have spend over $500 now and it is still making the exact same noise. No problem with steering the vehicle and no other symptoms other than the noise. Sounds like it is coming from the pump though. Now they want us to pay $500 more to replace the rack and pinion but he is still not even 100% sure that is what it is. It is really loud and doesnt get any louder when turning the wheel. The vibration and noise sounds like it is coming from the pump but it is not the typical bad pump sound when you turn the wheel. Just a consistant loud whine. I am at a loss as to what to do now. With 4 kids and we just bought a new house 30 days ago we don't have the money to throw away to continue to troubleshoot and replace things that are not broken. Hoping you can help. We are desperate at this point. Thanks.

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      First off the mechanic should NOT be replacing parts they are not sure of. All parts can be tested if the mechanic has the knowledge or is willing to spend the time rather than wasting a customer's money. I see this issue far too often. The power steering system can be pressure tested which should have been done first to determine if the pump is faulty. When replacing the pump, I would hope he also replaced the filter as this can cause issues. A plugged filter will also cause a pump to whine. To help isolate the sound a mechanic's stethoscope can be used. The vehicle can also be ran without the power steering belt for a few minutes (depending what else that belt drive) to help determine if it's actually the pump or something relating to that belt. Automatic transmissions can also make a whine is there is an issue too. if there was air trapped in the power steering system, you can also bleed the system yourself fairly easily using this procedure th-cam.com/video/00c3o5YoYCE/w-d-xo.html Whining can also come from other things as well but this is a good area to start first. Don't forget to subscribe!

    Hey there, awesome and informative video. Explorer 2003, rack&pinion was just replaced, but steering wheel is NOW harder then ever. Mechanic said the power s.pump was dead due to NO circulation, so i bought an after market one at Auto Advance. It was installed and we bled the system, everything worked fine during those 1st 8-10mins. Steering was smooth during the bleed process (left and right).
    Suddenly, MINUTES LATER as I left the shop, the steering was tighter, i mean extremely stiff, unless I pressed the GAS. So, when i got to a STOP sign, it was amazingly difficult to turn left, but when i pressed the GAS it was smooth. What could this be? Could it be that darn after market Power s Pump that doesn't work after we bled the system or it doesn't provide the correct psi pressure to the entire ps system? thanks for any advice.
    PS: By the way, mechanic has ordered the Original Ford Power Ste.Pump at Ford dealer...expensive ; ( $170. it should arrive this week.

      Considering the fluid has been recently replaced, I would check the level and ensure the air has been bleed out of the system. Next inspect for any leaks, you may have a leak on the high pressure side of the system. Other issues can also be the universal joint on the steering shaft seizing, ball joints are seizing, or the seals are failing on your power steering rack. Don't forget to subscribe :)

      I've cleaned it with sea foam and it works fine now. Ford is very good. My car has 310k miles now and still runs great.

    Literally just got help with the spark plugs from y'all and now it's gushing pink stuff. The lines and pump were replaced not that long ago. This is getting ridiculous. I do appreciate your videos tho.

      +brs “Brsrafal” rafal Are you sure the rack and pinion is faulty??? And are you referring to the boot on the tie rod??? What type of noise are you hearing??? Normally I don't recommend driving with faulty parts driving with faulty parts as it can cause other items to fail and are a safety risk for you and other drivers on the road.

    I have a 2001 Dodge 1500 4x4 with a 5.9 engine. I've been told that there is a filter at gear box that could be my problem,is this true? My pump is turning and is full and fluid was coming out of the cap but is very hard to turn the steering wheel.

    If my front right tie rod on my 03 Buick Century needs to be replaced will that cause the power steering fluid to leak?

    • @melanieg6217
      @melanieg6217 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I noticed power steering fluid on the ground shortly after I put some in.
