Weird that I get recommended this video and find this comment today, when I was talking about this exact thing yesterday for a completely different reason.
A quiz show I was watching asked what article of clothing Oddjob uses as a weapon, and one of the multiple choice options was shoe, so I said "Honestly, who throws a shoe?".

What's also weird about Random Task is that the actor who played him is a violent rapist who almost murdered his female victim with his accomplice in that attack.
The actor also had a very pathetic MMA career.
      He's in prison right now.

  • @Climinator-op6kh

Another one worth knowing is when you are on Facility, plant the mines on the tanks then head towards and stand in front of the exit door.
When 006 is knelt besides the tank and shooting at Oramov's men, press the deternator in Bond's watch and immediately head out the exit! You only have 1-2 seconds to do this for the glitch to work.
If it works then 006 will die but it will still count as Mission Complete.

Definitely rare info is that you can, in fact, defeat Xenia twice, Trevelyan twice, and Ourumov three times on any given run from beginning to end. Xenia and Trevelyan can both technically be eliminated on Train, and eliminated later on Jungle and Cradle, respectively. Ourumov can actually be eliminated, without cheats, on Facility and Silo as well. If done soon enough on Facility, it's possible to have an infinitely long gunfight with Trevelyan against the infinitely spawning guards. Trevelyan will eventually crouch himself back behind the gas canisters, however, but will still fire at enemies once they enter his LOS.

Goose I’ve been fiddling around with the perfect dark 6.4 beta rom. I have yet to dig further, but there’s already a few differences from the 6.4 beta vs the 8.7 final build. The things that stick out in my mind are : 1. During the intro cinematic from Area 51 infiltration, the footage shows a female scientist messing with a console which I’m pretty sure is not in the final build. 2. The whole Area 51 segment has a lot of bugs in general (not being able to pick up enemy’s weapons when dropped in the hanger lifts, guards being able to shoot through the metal grates by the air inceptor radar, Jonathan’s AI being extra dumb ect ect..)
    3. In G5 recon mission, the pony tail guard after the two cloak rooms is not on a path, he just stands there instead of walking back and fourth.
    4. The carrington institute level has really bad AI and also the mission ends Immediately after disarming the bomb instead of having to get back to the hangar.
I’m going to do some more digging tonight, maybe we can see a ghost eh?? Lol just putting it out there, the 6.4 beta I feel hasn’t really been gone through in depth and I’m positive there will be some other interesting finds. Could be an interesting video

The crates are probably just a texture mismatch -- most likely, the textures and the destructibility of the crates were controlled separately, and in general the devs did a bang up job making sure they matched. But those two on Dam got neglected for some reason.

    • @jclindsay007
      @jclindsay007 ปีที่แล้ว +1

If you fire RPGs straight up into the air, they run out of fuel and fall back to the ground, exploding on impact. I found this out when the game released. I was playing MP alone on Temple, and fired a couple through the skylight in the lower large room (adjacent to the body armour spawn in the dark hallway).
I never managed to get anyone with this trick, but always thought it would be neat to confuse someone with the “random” explosions causing their death.
I used to play MP by myself to memorise the spawn orders on each map. Caves was dirty because the locations were close enough to each other that you could get there and wait outside the area that pushes them to the next one if you’re inside it (spawn protection) before they could really get anywhere.

I don't know how well-documented it might be, but I once saw Natalya in the Control level die with an extremely long death animation; like well over ten minutes or so. She had collapsed to the floor and was rocking around gently in a sort of fetal position. I only saw it once by chance and was never able to recreate it. I can't remember if the slow animations cheat was on at the time, but even if it wasn't, it was a very long death.

2 things with the door walk cheat with the GameShark,
1-with door walk on, you can crouch with oddjob in crates and boxes to become invisible. He is so short that none of him will stick out of the boxes. Makes it fun if you also have no radar on.
2- with door walk on multi-player, you can access more of certain levels. For instance facility, where normally a door is locked at the end of the hallway, you can walk thru it and access the whole map as it is in single player. The only catch is that there are no pickups in the areas that the door walk cheat allows access to. So stock up before going in the extra area.

I remember as a kid I managed to get a similar faceless guard glitch but instead of them having no faces they would either have a face on each side of their heads or sometimes even more strangely a plain black texture with the red cross-hairs on it. Weird

  • @WreckSeven
    @WreckSeven ปีที่แล้ว +2

Most will have guessed the Surface guard glitch is from texture memory maxing out. But for the heads that don't just reuse their face on multiple sides, it's actually using the neck texture from the body. The turtleneck type shirt image usually gets applied in such a way as to look like a blindfold.

  • @formulajuan5762

I remember seeing the faceless guards back in the day. I would've thought it'd be a lot more common, as me and my friends used to make that glitch happen a lot. On the flip side, a glitch I thought must be rare, but seems is common knowledge, is how placing remote mines on all 8 monitors in bunker 2 and detonating them makes all explosives and throwing knives float in mid air

The "things people actually know" are at LEAST less commonly known than:
    -Gas bypassing armor.
    -Vent guards.
-The "Odd job" bit (it was pretty well known other small characters are a thing).
-"stomach ache" since it only requires basically any weapon cheat.
    Additional fun facts:
-EVERYTHING can blow up with the right cheat weapon (which is to say, gameshark/similar, and not in-game ones). Which is to say, using a gameshark. This includes entire level pieces, like say, when you are in the streets with a tank and use a certain code. The streets themselves darken and compress vertically.
-This is the one your thumbnail made me THINK would be here. But it wasn't. Congrats on technically accurate clickbait that you never actually touched on. With the all weapons cheat enabled (infinite ammo makes this easier too, but is not required), you can create basically any dual wield combo you want if you swap weapons while one of two held weapons is reloading. So yes, you CAN dual wield an RCP-90 and an AR-33. Or have a grenade launcher or rocket launcher as one weapon and a gun on others, outside of a scripted instance like doing so after a certain Jungle encounter.

Glitchy textures like that on the guards and HUD are generally caused by coding bugs where things are either overwritten in memory or where pointers are mistakenly directed to the wrong place in memory.
When you load something into memory, you need to first allocate space for it. This just means you're labeling a volume of space in memory so you can access it later. The way a computer knows how to do this is simple: You tell it a starting location in memory (call it X) and then say that you want to allocate some amount of bits from this location (call it Y). Then, when you want to get a specific spot in that allocation, you just tell the game to go to the X allocation and pull out the data that is Y bits from the beginning.
Depending on the language you're coding in, sometimes you'll have safety exceptions that warn you when you attempt to store things beyond the allotted memory space. This is known as an OutOfBounds exception. But languages that aren't that high level will generally not have that feature and will let you not only accidentally write things beyond the allotted space but also read things beyond it to. Both of those scenarios can cause visual glitches like we see here.
Something happens when both of those guard types spawn that that either overwrites or overflows into the list of in-use textures.
If I had to venture a completely wild guess, it would be that there is only a set amount of space you can allocate for texture references per level. This would be a total budget on the amount of textures that can be used in a level. And somehow, when you load in both these types of enemies, their combined texture requirements either exceeds the texture budget OR loading one enemy overwrites some already loaded textures with new ones. So when the game tries to load the textures for the the face and HUD, the code points to a place in memory where they should be but ends up finding a different texture and loads that instead.

Out of everything here, the odd bands around the soldiers heads was something a friend of mine somehow randomly got to work on that snow level. We're both teens losing our minds at what the heck we were looking at. Of course this was something we had no prior knowledge of and I remember my friend laughing his ass off at weirdness of it all. We could not ever get that bug to activate ever again after that. Fun side note: before Nintendo power made it common knowledge that you could get back up in the vents in Facility, me and my group of friends found it out before Nintendo Power published it in their magazine. We were doing our typical deathmatch on facility when, by pure accident, we found out you could jump back up into the vents. Someone was being shot at and ran into that stall and zipped straight up into it. No leaning, no holding R and strafe buttons while spinning. Ran straight up there. Of course the match came to a grinding halt as we sat there and messed around trying to figure out how to make it work.
Also, this might be false information, but I recall long ago reading about certain characters in multiplayer having faster auto aim since they were smaller or larger. Jaws supposedly had a faster reacting auto aim to make up for his size. And Oddjob had a much weaker auto aim because of his advantage of being small. Its something I remember reading but never knew if it was true or some wild false information. And by weaker auto aim, I mean when it would detect a target to auto aim on in the center of your screen. So Jaws had a wider range where his aim would snap on a target and Oddjob had a much smaller area where his auto aim would detect a target.

As a developer, I can probably tell you why those crates exploded. They probably created the metal crates in that area, and when they were done bugs testing the metal crates they probably left the original metal crate with the faulty code there and forgot about them because they were probably focused on many other important tasks to complete the game, probably didn't bother deleting the old metal crates because they didn't break the game.

As for the Train Depot level, without GameShark it is found to be possible to clip through the roller doors by coming at it with a certain speed and angle because there is a tiny pixel gap that you can pass through.

You can actually get into Alec’s Elevator in Control with Fast Mode. It’s all about approaching the side of the Elevator without Alec spotting you. Getting into that blind spot, a walk-strafe move to enter, you can somehow slip on in before the doors fully close. Unfortunately, you still cannot open from the inside either. But you can dump multiple rounds into Alec before he finally goes down.
