Another quirk about Mission 34 is you may also need to rely on luck for how good the AI will drive with the 1st placed car. I was able to get some 9'15 and 9'14 and still lose because the 1st place got a 9'13 every time. I had to get a 9'12.218 to beat the mission, and still only won by 0'00.627, which means the AI also got a time below 9'13 on that attempt. This mission is really unfair and you should really do everything you can to save time, even exploiting the game mechanics (cut corners on grass, and use the wall on carousel).
I missed this while writing, yes, the times of the 300 SL can be varied, for some absurd reason. 2-3 seconds is a massive variation when you think about it.
There is a mission where you drive a Skyline in Trial Mountain. My game either bugged out (it can happen reading from disc) or it was PAL mess, but my car started like 5 seconds after the ones I saw in a video, I literally had to smash into them like an idiot to be able to win, and I can drive well trust me.
@@kresimircosic9035 That's a PAL thing, they moved the lead car closer in NTSC. It is still possible to do even without hitting the car in front, but it is much more difficult.

Completing Gran Turismo 4 100% in both A-spec and B-spec, probably my biggest achievement as a gamer. B-spec races were tricky, even the longest ones like the 8 and 9 hours required attention all the time, when i set the pace and the pit stops for tires and fuel i sometimes just changed channel and watched some TV and i checked in every now and then to be sure my car was leading the race. A-spec had very tough tournaments and challenges. The Opel and Renault dealer tournaments were hard as hell, no one mentions them that much. Mission 34 is infernal, here's what i did: at the end of the straight, after failed attempts with clean driving and all that stuff, i just hit the only Mercedes left (it's a hard challenge all around, but getting to the second place wasn't THAT difficult but i might be completely wrong since i did this more than 10 years ago) from the back at full speed. Flat out. I sent it outside the track and i got 10 seconds of penalty at limited speed because of that, but since i was going VERY fast the game didn't have much time to slow down my car. So the penalty basically reduced to 6-7 seconds. After i get the control of my car again i just had to overtake the opponent that couldn't do a thing given the huge differences in performance (if i already didn't overtake it during the penalty time) and then crossed the line. YAYYYY!
Skyline Slipstream Battle. People can say how difficult Mission 34 is, but that's mostly down to skill more than anything. Mission 23 is the definition of BS. At least 34 requires alot of skill and precision. But 23 is mostly luck based in hoping the ai cooperate with you. I also realize the reference in the r8 mission with the bentley as the leader
I realised I drove on Opera Paris way too much when I beat Mission 13 by nearly 10 seconds. EDIT 1: Just for future reference, Plymouth's pronounciation is closer "PLEA-METH", as opposed to "PLI-METH".
mission 34 in PAL version wasn't super hard, i struggled much more with the R34 slipstream and the Mini cooper tsukuba license, but in GT7 the mission are impossible, the one with the kei car was pure pain
It is slightly easier on PAL! (European Version) - You can beat it with a time of 9 minutes and twenty seconds while you need 9 minutes and fifteen seconds to beat it in NTSC (American Release)
Same. I also played on pal though... no longer have my ps2 or the game, but curious to see what this is like emulated... and what the ntsc version plays like.
I have only played the PAL version, but for me mission 23 was way way harder than mission 34, although tbf I've raced on the nurburgring in this game thousands of times, so the track itself isn't a challenge any more, I mean, IA-15 I can beat with at least a 30 second lead without trying (it might even be more, but I would have to boot the game to find out) But I have never tried mission 34 in the ntsc version, which from everything I've heard and read is way harder.
I was one of those that completed the driving mission 34 in 3 attempts... But it wasn't skill, it was frustration... I cheated. I disabled the Ai, forcing them ALL to wait 2 minutes before enabling them at the start and had a fair / unfair race through the ring with a very natural finishing order as a result. Did the same with the penalty system as I found it unfair, Action Replay cheats FTW :P

@@YellowbirdYT you dont have one from the randomizer ?
@@AnthroGearheadi also ever only got Focus WRC after Driving Mission GT4 RANDOMIZER Run.
For me, honestly, mission 23 is way more challenging rather than mission 34 which I've completed on my second try when I got there for the first time of my life
That is rather curious!
how is it more challenging?
@@Super00michele00 cause in mission 23 you can't rely on your skills, thanks to the stupid AI who can't properly catch your slipstream or overtake you. Mission 34 is only about your skills and experience.
@@benjaminwild4002 I actually tried it yesterday. I am such a noob that can't do neither, but i have to agree. Even if you must be a pro to do M34, the splitstream seems really based on luck ... welp.
@@Super00michele00 it is based on luck. And I'm not a pro :p
yellowbird ur so cool and amazing how do you handle such fame
30:21 9 minute 15' is this PAL version? my computer always got 9 13.
It's the GT4 online beta, which is a bit slower than vanilla NTSC. 9 13s are regular, vanilla NTSC times.
@@YellowbirdYT ohh i see.. still trying to beat it.. already more than 12 hours trying livestream now i guess trying not to cut, at least 90% clean race. wish me luck
i mean... idk why but Mission 23 was pretty easy to me and i did it on my second atempt
Hope I will have time to watch these livestreams, but my life is very busy. 😔
It happens, don't worry!
Mission 23 is the definition of BS. At least 34 requires alot of skill and precision. But 23 is mostly luck based in hoping the ai cooperate with you. I also realize the reference in the r8 mission with the bentley as the leader
Pretty much, Mission 23 can be a matter of luck. Even if I find it to be rather consistent once you understand it.
@@YellowbirdYT yeah I agree. Love thr content by the way.
I realised I drove on Opera Paris way too much when I beat Mission 13 by nearly 10 seconds.
EDIT 1: Just for future reference, Plymouth's pronounciation is closer "PLEA-METH", as opposed to "PLI-METH".
Yes, kind of butchered and when I realized it was too late to correct it. I still have to balance speed and proper pronunciations.
@@YellowbirdYT I have no idea why he's trying to get you to pronounce it wrong. It's "Pli-muth", which is what I heard you say.
mission 34 in PAL version wasn't super hard, i struggled much more with the R34 slipstream and the Mini cooper tsukuba license, but in GT7 the mission are impossible, the one with the kei car was pure pain
Slipsteam is Too hard im play this at playstation 2
It can be, just takes patience.
Am I only one who thinks that Merc battle was easy😂 i playes this game on (eu version) ps2
yes
It is slightly easier on PAL! (European Version) - You can beat it with a time of 9 minutes and twenty seconds while you need 9 minutes and fifteen seconds to beat it in NTSC (American Release)
Same. I also played on pal though... no longer have my ps2 or the game, but curious to see what this is like emulated... and what the ntsc version plays like.
I have only played the PAL version, but for me mission 23 was way way harder than mission 34, although tbf I've raced on the nurburgring in this game thousands of times, so the track itself isn't a challenge any more, I mean, IA-15 I can beat with at least a 30 second lead without trying (it might even be more, but I would have to boot the game to find out)
But I have never tried mission 34 in the ntsc version, which from everything I've heard and read is way harder.
Funny how none of the overtakes on this video are clean
Game n1
I was one of those that completed the driving mission 34 in 3 attempts...
But it wasn't skill, it was frustration... I cheated.
I disabled the Ai, forcing them ALL to wait 2 minutes before enabling them at the start and had a fair / unfair race through the ring with a very natural finishing order as a result.
Did the same with the penalty system as I found it unfair, Action Replay cheats FTW :P
Welcome to the club, but yes. Having a clean, legit run feels so rewarding!
The driving line you are taking are awful
