  • Hi everyone! In today's video my sister shows you how to apply keratin hair extensions at home without accidentally giving yourself a mullet. I am so thankful she agreed to film this video and show everyone how to install their extensions at home and hopefully save some money! I've worn keratin extensions on and off for the past 4 years and always have my sister install them for me. If you have any questions about installing keratin hair extensions at home always feel free to leave a comment or message me on my instagram! :)

    I have created an entire playlist dedicated to my keratin hair extension videos! I know how pricey it can be to get extensions done at a salon, so I try to create videos that help you apply and take care of you extensions without having to pay the fees that come along with going to a salon. Let me know if there are any other videos you want me to create that would help you! :)

    If you are wondering what my must have products for extensions are then check out my newest video! 😄throughout the past 6 years I have done a lot of trial and error when it comes to testing out different products and I feel like I have finally found the ones that help your hair extensions stay very soft and prevent tangling! th-cam.com/video/PjqaxSMQY8c/w-d-xo.html

    I just ordered everything I need to do these at home - first time ever doing them myself, and also first time ever having these type of extensions (clip in expert for about 10 years). However I'm pretty confident that I have the skill and knowledge to pull this off. I would LOVE if you could give me some maintenance and upkeep information!! Great video, thank you so much!

      HG93 you are going to love them! I got so tired of always having to clip in my extensions every day, it is awesome to just wake up with your hair how you want it lol I highly recommend making sure you brush out your hair before going to bed and then just put it in a loose braid, this will keep the bonds from tangling up with one another. Also do not use any oil products on your scalp the bonds will break down and the extension will slide right out if you touch your hair or comb it (I’ve had the happen in public before 🙈) I try to wait an hour or two for them to air dry before blow drying them (if you air dry them the whole time it will definitely help preserve them, but I just hate the feeling of wet hair) if they get tangled as your hair starts to grow out don’t panic just remove the bonds that are tangled and it will keep your hair from ripping out! I hope this helped! If you have any questions feel free to ask! :)

      @@caseyelizabeth1930 ...you helped me right now as I didn't think to just take out the ones that are tangling up together. I lost ALOT of hair because I didn't do this. A few of them go so bad they became the starting of dreadlocks. And after this point you might as well cut as little hair as possible around the ball of knotted up hair until they separate. Then what I did was slowly try to comb them out. What a huge ouch. I lost a lot of hair the first time.
      Also another pointer that I learned off a different channel was when you have the extensions I personally found it so much easier and also it felt so much better to have less keratin by taking each individual extension and cut the keratin in half or even a little less than half. Dont cut up and down. That will split the extension in half. Cut it horizontally. And if the extensions have a tad to much hair like sometimes a 1gram piece hair extension is to much hair for some. Then youd cut the extension in half vertically creating 2 extensions. Believe me it works. Thank you for teaching me a few things.

      I am so glad they were helpful!! I am also so jealous that you are putting in your extensions soon since I have to wait until quarantine is over to get my balayage brightened before applying mine lol when it comes to styling your hair extensions I highly recommend not using a curling iron on them until after you've washed them once since the hair is usually really soft, which makes it difficult for them to hold a curl. Creating different styles with hair extensions can be a big of a learning curve since you have to figure out how to not let your bonds show. Once I can put my extensions back in I will make a video showing the different hairstyles that I like to do! :) if you have any specific questions about styling your hair definitely let me know!

      As long as it gets hot enough to melt the bonds it should work! :) The only thing I will say is that it will probably ruin the straightener because when the keratin bonds heat up they will melt a little onto the straighter and make it sticky

    Hey! Do you find this technique less damaging for your hair? And when you do have them, what’s the best way to put your hair when you sleep?

    • @caseyelizabeth1930
      @caseyelizabeth1930  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I wouldn't say it is any less damaging because with any extension method if they are not taken care of properly they will create a knot. I'd say the handtied method is the least damaging out of all the extension methods that I have researched. However I find this one to be one of the most user friendly methods because unlike tape in extensions you can put your hair in any hairstyle you want since they are individual bonds, which is why I really like using them! :) When I sleep I always put my hair in two loose braids to make sure they don't get tangled if I roll over during my sleep
