I came across this group a couple of weeks ago a fell in luv…didn’t know much about Mongolians but an into heavy metal and listened to everything I could by The Hu…come to find out yesterday that my father’s father that I always thought was Spanish was actually Mongolian…wow mind blowing 😂❤🎉

It's a general term for all aspects/ranges of Mongolian throat singing and is alternately spelled khuumii, khuumei, khoomii, hoomii, höömii, or xoomii. Every source offers something different by way of spelling! Subordinate techniques used in throat singing include kharkhiraa (= lowest growl-sounding notes), shakhaa (= mid-range notes), isgeree ([also called sygyt] = high-pitched, whistling-sound notes), each sub-type being sung either solo or in combination with the other khuumii techniques.
I was excited for this docu, but rather sad to see the musician's voices being dubbed in English. I want to hear them speak in their own voice and language. It feels like a part of their culture is robbed from the viewer by putting a dubbed white voice on top of it.
