Despite the dangers, seeing both of you surrounded by all the technology, the panoramic view, and your practical manner, makes it look like you can handle anything.
especially at night, if you get a tornado warning you need to get to your safe place right away because by the time you realize it's not a false alarm and it isnt going to miss you, it's too late
I really liked this video. It feels so comfortable and it helped me sleep thinking how it'd feel like being in an RV during that kind of storm. It's like I was there. Thanks for posting!
If you hadn’t grew up in a trailer park, then you should have. I still have trouble sleeping (especially working 3rd shift) if I can’t have thunderstorm on tin roof videos playing. I went from diapers to high school in mobile homes and hard rain & thunder on a metal roof is what I grew up listening to.
Glad you guys were prepared. We were in the middle of nowhere, we discussed it and decided there was nowhere to go. Glad we are all still on the ground.
+Mortons on the Move We're glad you guys were ok. Sometimes you just have to hunker down because it could be even more dangerous trying to drive out of the area during that.
My partner and I are in Oklahoma. RVing during the spring storm season is our favorite. There is just something about the excitement with riding out the storms in our RV. Thanks for the video guys. Happy camping!
I know that happened over a year ago, though with me just watching it. THAT WAS SCARY. Tornados scare me the most. I live in earthquake country... that is ok to me.Glad you both made it through the night.
Are you living in your RV? Always be near shelter in severe weather. It doesn’t mater if a tornado has touched down there or not, they touchdown everywhere & anywhere.
Hey, I always say that I like to give credit where its due! One thing I noticed about you & Kait is that, you're very sound minded! You're cerebral in your planning, rational in you delegation of responsibilities and concise in your execution! Even though that storm was real serious, as a viewer, I had no doubt that you guys had a "exit strategy" already mapped out for yourselves & Leo! Im so glad everything worked out for you three! Continue staying safe...Cheers!
+roberto abrams Thanks Roberto. We did the same thing back in our house because who knows what could happen. We've both lived through a few things that taught us that we always need to be prepared.
+We're the Russos Humm, I live by that mantra too! In the Army, we had a saying called the 5 P's: Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance! Its refreshing to see that someone else does this besides me lol!
+roberto abrams I've heard of the 3 S's from my father who was also in the Army but never the 5 P's. We love it and that's how we like to live. It allows us to handle a dangerous situation with clear heads and execute what needs to be done. Thanks for your service Roberto!
So glad you were safe and thanks for the video and the reminder to talk about this when we get on the road. Reminder of importance of a plan and stay calm.
+Kim Nowell Absolutely - there are so many things that can happen that most people wouldnt think twice about in a house, but it could be a dire situation in a RV.
Im glad u all are ok, storms like that if it all goes silent no wind, no rain u at that point are in the eye. Dont leave with vehicle if u can use that moment to get to shelter but if that is ur shelter stay and cover up windows in the area ur in. Pillows and duct tape work just in case and like u did get ur provisions in bag next to u... Scary but another adventure in the rv life. God Bless u be safe🐻
This is something I do think about. I wonder if it would have been alright, in the eyes of the casino, if you had moved the RV closer to the building during the storm, and had taken refuge inside until it was over, then moved back to where you originally were? Or you could at least move closer, so you wouldn't have so far to run, yet stay inside until it got much worse?
If you're in a RV don't drive it out or wait, find shelter or find a ditch (I think). Look it up. Just don't stay in the RV. rvbasics.com/rv-lifestyle/RVers-should-do-tornados.html camping.about.com/od/rvfulltiming/a/RV-Safety-for-Tornados.htm
Hello, I wanted to give RVers a better alternative. Tornadoes don't always stay in their predicted paths and can change at anytime. People like me who live in tornado prone areas have another option. Public shelters!! Public shelters are popular with people who don't have a safe place at home. Find out the county you are in and do an Internet search for public shelters in that county. They open up normally when a tornado watch is issued. A tornado watch happens before a tornado warning. A tornado watch means that tornadoes are possibility in the area. A tornado warning is when a tornado has been spotted either by radar, by law enforcement, by trained spotters, and/or by the public and it is on the ground. You want to already be in a shelter when that warning is issued. It is extremely dangerous to be in an RV, any type of vehicle, a mobile home, and/or a structure with a wide span roof such as a gymnasium. Bridge overpasses are dangerous also. Don't try to outrun a tornado. Unless you are a trained spotter, you don't know which was it is going and under what conditions it will change it's direction. Even trained tornado spotters have been killed when out in the field chasing tornadoes. Cities which have had tornado touchdowns are more apt to have a public shelter. The county list for public shelters will give you information such as are pets allowed, is it handicapped accessible, is it FEMA compliant and other pertinent information. If you are in a site built home, go to the lowest floor away from outside walls, away from windows. Wear hard soled shoes (if your area is hit by a tornado and you walk in a tornado debris area, it can cut up your shoes), a helmet (most deaths are caused by flying objects which hit people in the head) and have a whistle and/or an air horn. First responders are trained to listen for air horns and whistles.
Glad you made it through! We get some crazy storms here in FL! Which Texas WordPress camp did you go to? There are at least three here in FL annually, hope you can make it to one!
You know, I just reread my initial comment to this video...all I can really say in addition is...this is the video where I fell in love with you & Kait's "brains"! Btw, this is one of my top 5 videos from you guys (and this one will NEVER get bumped outta that bracket ;)
I wish someone would upload something like this but without any lights on or people - just have the camera capture what it's like being in the RV in bad weather. I would probably fall asleep in a heartbeat.
I was in New Port Richey visiting my grandparents when this storm happened. Everyone except my grandparents heard thunder and it kind of felt like a bomb or an earthquake hit us.
I would always aim the front or back toward the winds. I know nothing would drive me out of my r.v Unless i have seen a tornado coming right at me, i would stay put.
Wow, we don't see cyclones in the south eastern part of Australia so that was a real eye-opener for us, we are glad that you are all ok. Would the casino have let you bring Leo in if you had to evac the RV?
+Downunda's Videos We didn't ask about that specifically but they were very helpful over the phone and didn't seem to have any issues if we had to evac. We would never want to impose our dog on someone or a business but if we had to evac that would have meant the tornado was coming down and Leo is not going to get left behind.
So when on the road when tornados happen where do you go what do you do. My fiancé and I want to live in a rv and I want to know everything before jumping in
You won't know everything before jumping in. You can read all you want but you'll learn everything once you're on the road. Check out my new book which will help prepare you: amzn.to/2zFksyh
Out of curiosity, how was the Newmar's sound insulation through all this? I hear they're very well insulated ("you have to look out the window to know if it's raining") but this must've been a heck of a test.
I spent years in florida...i am from the Mississippi coast and I don't know who told you they never saw weather like that must be TRANSPLANTS from somewhere else because.....that is standard stormy weather for the Gulf of Mexico coastlines.....you know what they say.....Half the people from Florida came from SOMEWHERE Else!
All important documents, like birth certificates, passports, insurances, photo copies of registrations for the RV and Car...should be kept in a small portable fire/water proof case. In an emergency, you just grab that fire/water proof case and just go.
Yup, I told my daughter to grab the dog and head for the basement NOW! Before I took another breath the sirens went off. People would be amazed at how every material thing suddenly has no value. Left everything and ran as fast as I could. As I ran past the kitchen window rain slammed it so hard I thought it was gonna break!
wow, I am glad that y'all are ok, the next time there's a storm that is capable of producing tornadoes, just and ask the Lord to protect you, because, that is what I do for any tornado warnings issued the Jacksonville Florida
Yeah I was about to be in 2 tornadoes the tornado sirens went of in Texas 2 times last month but the tornado was forming it became a tornado touchdown in Fort Worth Texas and in the Wise Texas County
***** Oh. I have been in a Tornado Warning before once, the other time it happened it was a Tornado Emergency, which means that a confirmed stove pipe tornado is on the ground. This video was cool though! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for doing this video guys. Preparedness is very important and people need to be reminded of it. Glad you are okay. Check out this video clip that The Deprey's show @ 1:27 th-cam.com/video/t4KVWxP0RIs/w-d-xo.html
+NoProGoPronto wow those were some crazy winds. We'd put the jacks down and get the hell out of there and hope the RV was still there when we got back!
+Steely Flyer We were certainly nervous, but since we had a plan we were pretty calm. Had it touched down and cut us off from the Casino - then we both would have needed new shorts.
+Cinana Ronesa The Archer no reason to feel bad, we just didn't know if you were serious 😜 But yes, we live in our RV and figured it's good to tell people to get prepared.
FINALLY.
.a TH-camr that shows not just the sunny side of RVing.... Thanks!!!!
Despite the dangers, seeing both of you surrounded by all the technology, the panoramic view, and your practical manner, makes it look like you can handle anything.
I'd love to be there, looks cozy. Good sleeping weather

Omg it's my dream

It's only cozy if you know you're safe and you're not gonna possibly lose your stuff and 5 or 6 figures' worth of money.

Same here
Love it. I love bad weather. It's so exciting, especially riding in out in small, cozy living quarters.

I love all of you i survived the 03/25/21 Outbreak....
I love thunderstorms with heavy rain high winds just dont like lighting but rain makes me sleepy !

So glad you remained safe. The weather has been so crazy lately.
+Emily Burton It has and this is the second tornado warning we've been through in the past month.
I love your channel, because of the way you don't care about money and have fun. Makes the quality so much better.
I absolutely love bad weather when you are in the safe confines of your own place.

Really, been on worse storms not scared at all. Always be prepare for the worse.
Great video and excellent coping skills, you both did a great job! I'd be freaking out lol! Thanks for sharing.
That would be scary! I'm glad you guys are safe. ( I am so late )
My advice to other veiwers is turn down the volume in the beginning.

Silence in a bad storm can mean Tornado or it stopped but mostly it means, bad news!!!
the eye of the storm
Nice👌👍🌧️

so so cozy.
Welcome to the South.....Alabama has storms like that, too.....
We’re in AL now and just experienced a couple. One tornado touched down a couple miles from us
Know your roll!
Yes, that looks like stormy rain alright!!!
thats why when there was a warning put out,you should have left for safety immediatly
Unless you're a good ol idiot!
Weren't they sleeping?
awesome video...thanks!
You're welcome Jeff!
I wish someone would upload something like this but without any lights on or people - just have the camera capture what it's like being in the RV in bad weather. I would probably fall asleep in a heartbeat.
It’s scary in a fifth wheel trailer you rock all over the place
I was in New Port Richey visiting my grandparents when this storm happened. Everyone except my grandparents heard thunder and it kind of felt like a bomb or an earthquake hit us.
+XxEpicGupxX we remember that sound. Pretty scary!
+We're the Russos it definitely was scary
I know this is a older video, But Good Advice...Thank you!
Pull in the slides during a bad storm...
+Mike m Thank you for the advice.
I would always aim the front or back toward the winds. I know nothing would drive me out of my r.v

what city were y'all at by the time that happened at 4:30A.M?
We were in Immokalee - camped at the casino there.
Glad u guys are safe tho

meeeeeh this is a pretty normal day in my home state of Iowa, I sleep right through it if you can block out the tornado sirens.
+born68 Ha! And Joe can sleep right through an earthquake. Guess you get used to it.
Wow this is scary😫
you guys this is freakin relaxin give me chills rv and storm rain on windows.. make me sleepy very awesome te out of ten would bang.
stay safe. that looks nasty

On the Bay Stars, its a bit better than similar RV's but you can hear just about everything going on outside.
That’s Tornado rain. Not a fan of tornadoes ripping through my areas. Especially populated areas
God bless u stay safe
Thank you!
i would foresee buckles to extra fix the motor home to a steel pole.

why do you have an iPhone 4 or 5 in 2016 😭 it’s 2020 please tell me you have a new phone
Love thunderstorms and would love tp be a storm watcher
The one thing that you can go outside and run!
Central Florida is the lightning Capital of the US!
That's where I live and it was badddddd!!!!!!!!!?
+Lauren TV yep it was not fun!
wow, I am glad that y'all are ok, the next time there's a storm that is capable of producing tornadoes, just and ask the Lord to protect you, because, that is what I do for any tornado warnings issued the Jacksonville Florida
Thanks Tommy - we've become very attuned to the weather going forward to try and make sure we don't end up in another situation like this!
It looked like the tornado was behind you in the ending of the video
Something passed right by us and then the tornado was sighted about 30 miles from where we were.
Yeah I was about to be in 2 tornadoes the tornado sirens went of in Texas 2 times last month but the tornado was forming it became a tornado touchdown in Fort Worth Texas and in the Wise Texas County
So why didn't you go into the casino instead of chancing it. That's how people die in tornadoes, waiting till it's to late.
Wow
I'm such a baby, I'd have been in the casino, immediately. Nope. I'm clearly not cut out for your life!
Nothing wrong with running to the Casino! Have a few drinks and drop a few quarters in the slots while all hell breaks loose outside!
that was a year ago
That storm was sassy
What is a 'Severe Tornado Warning'? I have never heard it put that way before! xD great vid though!
+MLK gaming apparently it means a tornado has touched down in the area. First for us too!
***** Oh. I have been in a Tornado Warning before once, the other time it happened it was a Tornado Emergency, which means that a confirmed stove pipe tornado is on the ground. This video was cool though! Thanks for sharing!

Tornadoes is spelled with an "e."
Look at your weather radar man.

Did you crap yourselves? I sure would have.
+Steely Flyer We were certainly nervous, but since we had a plan we were pretty calm. Had it touched down and cut us off from the Casino - then we both would have needed new shorts.
☔
stop it your 2. you making my wife afraid to get an rv....
+TheDoug2103 lol - sorry but it's good to know what's out there and be prepared.
hahaha i know that, it was a joke
LOL sometimes it's hard to tell ;)
you kids seem to have been new to this kind of thing. living in plainfield illinois this is just a usual convective day....
WTF WHY AN RV?!!?
+Cinana Ronesa The Archer because we live in a RV...

The moment you called security because of a storm you lost all credibility
Quick, run in circles outside screaming. Sometimes that helps...
What the fuck are you doing staying In a mobile home you should have went inside
Don't come to Oklahoma. Lol
