The tiny little “cloves” in the ground are garlic seeds. If you plant them, the first year they will produce 1 big bulb. Leave them in the ground. They’ll die back and come back the 2nd year when they’ll produce the head with cloves of garlic. My grandpa taught me this about garlic. He gave me seeds from his garlic which came from his parents farm. He died at 99 and I still have his garlic going.
Totally awesome..ty for sharing your multi-generational knowledge and sweet memories..I love all this!!! ty..xoxo blessings to you in every way ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I leave all those little tiny seeds behind on my garlic it produces every year you may get a rounds bulb it's still garlic it will produce big bulbs I just leave those seeds behind. Designate a place for garlic.

Please do not have baby on the floor where you are cooking. Years ago a friend of mine had her baby in a seat on the floor and as she took a hot pot from the stove to the table the bottom fell out. Baby had very serious burns all over her body. Place the seat she is up on something away from where you are working so she can still see you. You are an awesome family and I am not criticizing just letting you know how easy accidents happen. Many hands make light work, how great to have all the kids help with the strawberries. Hugs. 🤗❤
I would like to hear the full blessing that Ben says. Just curious to see what the differences between his blessing and mine are. Take care and God Bless.
Hey guys, I run a farm growing elephant garlic. The bits on the outside are called corms. To plant the corms you want to clip open the top of it. They will produce a garlic round the first year. You then plant the round and will get a full garlic bulb. Easy but slower way to up your crop. Just make sure you snip the point open. God bless
Hello Hollar Family, my mother planted elephant garlic one year, many years ago, after she harvested the main heads my dad rototilled the garden and she still has elephant garlic growing over about a quarter acre
When I was younger, we’d use a big plastic straw and push it up from the bottom. Core and cap would pop off. Made processing strawberries fun. Love to all y’all.
I really like your opening on this one! None of us grow all our food. It sure doesn't hurt to grow what you enjoy! Speaking of which... I really enjoy your vids, thank you!
I hill my rows 2 feet high then flatten the top a little and bury my potato seed about 3 inches in the hill. I wait for them to sprout 4 o 6 inches and cover all but the top with hay or straw. I continue covering with hay/straw as the plant gets taller until I have at least 12 inches of compacted hay around the plants. After you put the hay down, water them in. It helps to compact the hay. I get between 5 and 10 LBS od taters per pound of seed. I planted 25 LBS of Red Pontiac and 25LBS of Kennebec. Mine aren't quite ready to dig yet. I usually wait until late March to plant.
Awe what a beautiful baby! Meg sure got active pretty quick after the baby came. My mom had 11 children all at home but one and she was like Meg up and doing in just a few days. Can't keep a good woman down. If you lived close to me I would happily share my organic abundant blueberry harvest this year. I've made jam, jelly, frozen a lot and gave some away. The good Lord surely blessed me with multiple kinds of berries this year. I love the Hollar family and I know from the mistakes I see you make in the garden that you are the real deal in homesteading. I see these perfect looking gardens on TH-cam and being a gardener myself I know there's no such thing as a perfect garden.
You can throw a garlic peeling party, throw it in a food processor, freeze in ice cubes, pop them in a freezer bags and have a happy cook who doesn't have to peel and chop garlic for a while:)

Garlic is ready after the bottom three leaves are brown. Aprox two weeks after the scapes is time to harvest hardneck garlic. I am in Wi zone 4. We plant our potatoes two weeks after the last frost. I planted mine in mid April (cold for Wi ) Potatoes are a cold crop. We have -20 winters and I have sooooo many volunteers this year and I am letting them florish. If they were slow in your zone 7 maybe your soil is lacking nitrogen? All I do is make a row the depth of a shovel. Throw them in and pile leaves all over the place. These are just helpful hints. Love your content and love your whole family. Omg is Buggy adorable and so helpful on the farm.

Hi my favorite family of 8
You guys need a freeze-dryer for those extra berries and vegetables. Canning is great and all, but freeze drying is excellent for many fruits and veggies. Most will rehydrate and keep almost all their taste and nutrition through the whole process..
You can start potatoes and tomatoes from seed in starter containers of some sort, by placing them in window boxes on the ground. My grandmother built wooden frames and set them on the ground, then put window panes over her boxes at an angle, with hinges that allowed her to lift the top up for water or whatever needed. That way she could set her seedlings out early, but take them back inside if there was a frost at night, and the sprouting plants were protected from animals, wind, and heavy rain. There's a very real benefit starting plants like tomatoes early while the nights are still cool but the days are warm and sunny. When the sproutings get big enough and the nights are warm, you then figure out where you want them and just put them in the ground. My best wishes!
Garlic corms are what youll want to research. And yes, you can replant them for more elephant garlic.
