The Sea Treaders are really cool. I built a small base there to gather the materials they dig up, which has helped me a lot building a lot! I think they are cool. I wish they were in more bioms, but it makes sense that they are, where they are. Great Video yet again Aletho!
While they may not look that big when looking at them from a first person perspective and from above, if you look at a size comparison they are absolutely massive, and very much deserve the title of leviathan. Also, these animals make getting shale outcrops completely trivial. I'm more in need of titanium than those most of the time
Go see them in VR. Oh god just do anything you can in VR, it's incredible. Even the seamoth feels like an absolute beast of a machine in that perspective. It's also so weird seeing the seaglide or even the scanner. Suddenly you realize the seaglide is the size of your entire body, and the scanner is literally the size of your head.
Yeah I heard something about the scale in subnautica being off, so the reaper, which is about as long as the Statue of Liberty is tall doesn’t really seem that big
Can I learn how to get my sea moth back from the aurora when a reaper leviathan is right where I need to go and I saw its tail sticking out of the water? Should I just make another sea moth, ditch that with the reaper, get my original sea moth back, and book it back to my escape pod?
Sea treader is most definitely my favorite leviathan. Provides resources, relatively chill, and smart enough to keep their kids protected at all times? YES. I imagine their main predators are warpers and the occasional ghost leviathan that wants a break from filter feeding
@@alternativename-18h it has a muscular inner section. It could hypothetically constrict or it could ram/bite. And then consume remains peice by piece. Also he means warpers cus they attack everything and they can warp the crabs over the side of the edge where they will fall into the ghost swarm.
The first time I encountered these guys, they scared the living daylight out of me. I didn’t know if they were hostile or not. Once I realized they were peaceful and even dropped materials, I quickly grew comfortable around them
The sea treader has always been one of my favorites. By calling them a leviathan they made the title surprisingly attainable, just going by size alone they really aren't that big, many whales would be considered leviathan class organisms, and since most of their size comes from the length of their legs I imagine they can't be particularly heavy, so if you added mass into the equation you might be able to fit even more earth creatures into leviathan class

This just gave me an idea for a sea base. Build one by the Sea Treaders Path and then fuel it with their waste. Plus have easy access to shale outcroppings too. But I wonder what would happen if a base was built to block the path. Would they attack it, go around it, or just walk through it?

Honestly the sea trader pace is the best place for a base(maybe). Just trap them first with I compartments(that will take a lot of resources though), use their waste for bioreactors, and use the materials they dig up for your base.
One of the most alien-looking of Subnautica's fauna. Things like this really remind us that we're on another planet with a whole different ecosystem. Subnautica's devs combined vivid imagination with scientific logic.
I built a small base in the grand reef to watch the sea treaders as I think they are so cool and make the ecosystem feel alive with the sea treaders walking around and doing their thing while you’re fighting for your life against 4 reapers
I gotta say, this series is charming (the subtle hint to watch the next episodes included, haha). It reminds me of, like, Johnathon Bird, Steve Irwin, the Kratt brothers, etc.
Never seen one as going farther than grand reef's lost river entrance is something i would never do and the transition from sparse reef looks like the void to me usually
For gameplay purposes what if there was a creature in the game that mimicked the sea treader being unable to tell the difference from above so when you go in for ores you’ll get attacked by it and to tell the difference you either swim behind it (since it won’t have legs) or shoot a stasis shot at it
I built a really cool Base in the Sea treaders path It's a crossroads or Toll Stop. With a glass bridge spanning over an area that The Leviathan's pass under.
The Sea Treader was the only creature in Subnautica is didn't encounter during my only playthrough of the game, which sucks because these guys are really cool looking.
They always reminded me of striders from half life 2, which is interesting considering that striders might've been some sea creature before combine modifications
While I like he genral idea and design of the sea traders, they really should have a differerent trump separated from their legs. Sure feeding limbs do exist in anture but they're usually pretty dedicated for that specififc role. I could be wrong but mouth legs don't strike as really structuraly sound, y'know ? For a leg you want solid structure capable of suppoting the animal weight (and that's a big carapaced boy so you want lots of support), for a mouth and oesopahgus, you want an empty tube, and given the quantity of food that thing had to gobble, probaly a big one., and dedicated mucles to make your food move through that long tube. Doesn't quite fit with what we see.

I love sea treaders but I keep thinking this one thought because they're so close to the void I wonder if they could accidentally call it the void it's really unnerving
The size of animals is not measured by their volume or longest dimension, but by their weight. In addition to having a considerable size, the fact that this creature can dig up sediments only by walking UNDER water implies that it is heavy, really heavy, so it must easily have the "size" close of a reaper and far superior to a crabsquid
Probably not the canon reason, but I find it interesting to believe the sparse reef might be barren due to sea treaders clearing out all the plant life.
I remember having no idea what to do with the feces and i tried to put it in a growbed when it didnt work i dropped it in the middle of the ocean and left
I did some research as part of my method of spawning things and seeing what they do, and found out these things. A. 0 sense of self preservation. I spawned a whole herd, and they marched straight into the void. B. These things will keep walking till they can’t no more
