Warpers are one of the weirder creatures on 4546b, they feel so out of place yet so perfect for the planet and the fact they can warp other creatures in is a nice touch
The Warper! YES! These were by far the coolest creatures in the game in my opinion, so much story to them and their mechanics were just awesome, albeit terrifying. Awesome video Aletho, thanks for covering this creature :)
i remember finding out they became passive after you cure yourself and was so fucking relieved. they went from my most-feared enemy to "hey cool, space boi". and man, i just about shit my pants the first time i got teleported out of my Seamoth.
“It absolutely won’t stop hunting you, ever, until you are dead.” - Kyle Reese One thing about the Warper that puzzles me… when it warps in other creatures to take out an infected one, wouldn’t that spread the Kharaa?
It likely doesn't spread that quickly depending on the condition in the water or the strain of bacteria or the limiting effects of it or the environment like how on earth certain bacteria take 30-60 min to duplicate. Freezing temps of the ocean and slow it down and it's even made sure by the Warper warping the creatures back to their original spot instead of staying in the infected area, and well if it does infect another creature the Warper just kills it anyway, it's also rare to see them warp in other creatures likely to minimize that happening. Either way the entire ocean if infected at this point, so it doesn't matter.
@@theparrishshow9803 The whole planet has been infected for 1000 years now, at this point it doesn't matter, it's on sight, better off that way than letting it develop more.
The Warper genuinely terrifies me. The Reaper Leviathan is probably my most hated being in Subnautica but the Warper is a close second. My stomach is in knots as soon as I hear that dreaded warping sound.
While the line: "Targets Unaccounted for, 1" Is chilling, technicaly all it means is that they just dont know where you are and are currently not tracking you, which could explain why they dont hunt you down, and instead just attack on sight, i have no idea why you are Unaccounted for tho
@@iAlethoit’s theorized that the warmers found the other life pods because they sent out distress signals because their life pods failed and you are unaccounted for because you never sent out a distress signal
@@NunyaBizzniz-ev1qq But the warpers don't attack you right away, they only attack you after the kharaa starts giving you boils. That means that they wouldn't have been hostile to the other initial survivors on the first day either, and since your escape pod is on fire and full of smoke when you wake up, you can't have been unconscious for more than a few minutes or else you would have died of smoke inhalation.
PMCs would pay big stacks to have Warpers as their own enforcer units. Both for engaging oppositions, and transporting goods. Perhaps someday Alterra will ask Al-An for the schematics of these bio-mechanical creatures to help in their own goods transporting/military purposes.
Really great seeing far how far your channel has grown, I remember back when you only had a couple hundred subs. You've got to be one of the most active content creators in the Subnautica community, for a long time I stopped playing Subnautica, but your videos really re-introduced me to the game, thank you for that, and for the absolute banger videos.
3:40 Huh, i never knew passive Warpers had an uh- "hand" movement animation like that, to signal the player they ain't hurting him i think. Cause when i first started playing, i just avoided them out of safety.
(Me, who has played the game since even before initial bases/cyclops were added in some alpha stage, has beaten entire game several times before and after launch, has dabbled extensively in mods and hardcore mode, scanned every scannable thing, read every wiki entry and log input) yes, I must watch this video from beginning to end!
The Warpers are one of the coolest entity's in the game. So glad u made a video about them! By the way your editing style is Awesome and I can't believe you only have 28k subs.
This vid made me go down the Subnautica rabbit hole. I eventually remembered my beloved Cyclops, and decided to download it after all these years and do a new play through
I can’t remember where I saw it, but I remember seeing a video where it looked like a warper warped in a reaper to try to kill the player. These warpers have no chill.
I thought that thing in the middle of Warper's face was it's eye and always seen it as a sort of creepy cyclops, but i just now noticed it has 2 sets of eyes on each side.
Most of my playthroughs of subnautica are on hardcore. I died three times so far. Once a sea dragon one-shot ate me while it was noclip hidden within a wall... I was furious, since I never saw or heard it... I remember putting 3-4 days into this playthrough, so... pissed. Another one was very early while I was building thermal plants and a geyser burned me for being slow/greedy. Felt really stupid after that one. The third one was a class act. I got assassinated by a warper while leaving the lost river into the blood kelp trench. It teleported me out of my seamoth, I was low on health and in utter darkness, confused, ran into the face of an ampeel and then the warper quickly stabbed me in the back. I was genuinely stunned and impressed of how well and quickly it executed me. One of my favorite creatures in the game. Certainly the least predictable. I like to get close to them and play around (even while infected), though when I'm without the reinforced suit and hear their glitchy voices around, I still get butt-clenching anxiety. :D
I remember one time I was on the floating island a warper from the water teleported in six biters, and scared the crap out of me and that was the last time I went to the floating island
don't judge me but i actually thought that warpers were a native species to 4546B before watching this video. one more thing, i really like this type of content and keep up the good work!!
I also have the suspicion that warpers are attracted by using the sonar. Whenever I "ping" in their range, they seem to teleport closer to my seamoth or cyclops. Haven't seen any confirmation so far.
Recognizing that that cold, unnatural voice on the radio comes from these creatures makes them more terrifying. They aren't just animals. They think. They communicate and coordinate. They're intelligent machines designed to hunt and kill. And they're hunting you.
Imagine what was going through the warpers minds after the events of subnautica. They seem to have a degree of independent thought so I wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up becoming an intelligent species in their own right and creating there own civilization. They probably have a degree of preprogrammed knowledge on how there creator’s technology works so they could possibly learn how to manufacture more of there own kind. They certainly have a good head start on that with all the ancient’s tech that’s still on the planet. That or they just start searching for other disease’s and infections to eradicate since it’s what they were built for or possibly doing both.
I didnt know they were supposed to be 300m deep, I thought I wasn't supposed to be able to leave the sunbeam zone since there's 4-6 of them that patrol thr island and make swimming or seagliding away impossible
One of the most annoying enemies you had to face. Even with the Leviathans, you had the comfort of being able to turn on your Doomguy and go at them with your prawn suit (Or just the stasis rifle and thermoblade if you're a psychopath), but the Warpers just teleport out of the way and continue to be a nuisance after a shank or two. At least the Seamoth's Perimeter Defense charges seemed to scare them shitless from my experience.
I just now realized A lot of people think warpers were modified cuddlesifh but the way their arms end, the way their body ends in several appendages, plus the head shape (flat crest at the top) reminds me of the sea emperor, who the precursors had imprisoned Couldve used their dna or something couldnt replicate the enzyme but were like "fuck it, thisll handle the Kharaa a different wat"
