My Sledge has gone through 4 pinions, 2 spur gears, and now a rear ring gear chipped. Installed 9579R front and rear, Hot Racing steel Spur, extra hardened pinion from Robinson Racing, chassis cover to eliminate rocks and dirt from damaging teeth, and Hot Racing motor mount washers to limit motor movement. I think the first two chipped pinions were from small rocks (baseball field). Any tips anyone? We’re at Red Bandit Racing
Just got my sledge was ready to rip it but something told me to watch a video on common issues and just things I should know about the car and Thnk god I did my motor mount screw had almost no thread lock on them..
I’ve had some of these issues, i also broke my battery tray while running 4s. So i started using Velcro straps. I’m using IC5 connectors and a max amps 9kmah battery. Idk if anyone else has had this problem. But good videos man!!
Waiting on my backordered Sledge now, so this is a great video for me to get it squared away when it comes in... thanks for sharing, you have a new subscriber!
So far for me left arm broke the suspension pin cracked the brace to Secure the pins bent tire coming off and rear diff seems to be leaking oil , should of waited for the v2 over all tho good car the power is put down to the ground the sound amazing the control is good but durability hand down my e revo 2.0 takes it
Great video, you’ve gained another subscriber. Can you provide a link to the steering servo you mentioned and let us now if you’re still happy with it?

Hey man, loving the Sledge vids. Have you seen Basher Queen’s carbon fiber shock towers for this thing yet? I’ve heard good things about their products, so I ordered a set up to try them out. In the description on eBay, it states 2 different measurements: one spot says they are 3mm thick, another says 5mm. I messaged her just to make sure, and they are indeed 5.1mm thick and weigh 40% less than the stock aluminum towers. I’m kinda stoked to check them out.
Ive seen them, very nice looking. Let me know how they work out. Pretty sure they make them for the Kraton too which allows the Sledge body and wing to fit. Cool stuff!
@@rcilluminati26 indeed they do! Should have them in a couple days, I can report back. I was able to nab a set of the Traxxas Response Pro wheels/tires as well, and they are LIGHT man, if I remember correctly they are like 80 grams lighter than the stock Sledgehammers per corner! They are getting hard to find though, and my local hobby store says they are unavailable, so order a set now if you want them. But I really think this thing is gonna be sick with all the weight savings.
@@rcilluminati26 the BasherQueen carbon towers are beautiful. They fit perfect, look perfect, and fixed my bent towers (which I didn’t even know were bent). Stock front tower is 47 grams, carbon front is 29. Stock rear is 66.5 grams, carbon rear is 44.5! I couldn’t be happier with them so far. We shall see how they hold up in the long run now.
The servo horn turns but the wheels dont? Double check the servo saver, theres a nut to adjust the tension, its at the bottom of bellcrank on left side
i have Traxxas Sledge and servo is compatible with 7.4 volts. Can i buy “Traxxas 2260” and use it to up the voltage from 6V to 7.4V without changing the stock BEC? Or how can i up the voltage to 7.4V without changing the stock BEC?
I haven’t tried the Traxxas 2260 but you can definitely wire in a separate bec just for the servo. You can power it directly from battery or even get a small 2S pack just for servo power. There’s a very specific way to wire them. Here’s a bypass adapter that makes it easier. www.amainhobbies.com/holmes-hobbies-receiver-bypass-adapter-w-auxiliary-output-hhb250100015/p541701?gclid=CjwKCAjwlqOXBhBqEiwA-hhitJAfialTuBb8EQbwFxnGp32UsepSTLihrD3sAoZ41wr4mWOP2cOQZBoCAQ4QAvD_BwE
I have 18/46 pinion and spur from traxxas. Can i use them without moving the motor and mesh ? Or what should i do? Those pinion and spur is the one stated on the box for 70+mph
I haven’t tried that gearing so I’m not positive but if you do need to set the mesh again, be sure to use blue threadlock on the motor screws and also the pinion grub screw.

Mojave is one of my favorite cars. You will like the sledge too, it just needs some upgrades if you want to drive it hard.
Thanks for your honesty, I'll wait till the V2 comes out! This looks like a money pit at this point.
Yes and no, I've had other RCs that were way worse out of the box. I think the V2 will be great though.
When do you think the v2 is coming?
Good video!
I have my traxxas sledge rear camber set to the max angle setting but the rear left tire doesn’t match the left

You really dont even need the boot, they rip really easy. If you want to change it, remove the center diff and then you can remove the driveshafts

Check that some small rock is not in the mechanism. If not, unscrew servo horn and check that is moving correctly.
