    A tip from an old fiberglass guy. Wax up the screws and run them into the nuts, then use some JB weld or a mix of epoxy and cabisol (available at marinas) and fill around the nut to it's top. Let it all harden overnight before removing the screw. Method 2. Run 5/16 die around the nut, add a fender washer and a red Loctited nut and you're done.

      Great ideas. When I do it again, I may try that! Thanks for watching!

    Those brass nuts on the fairing are pressed in and strip easily. I just replaced mine with blind nuts that slide onto the inside fairing easily and work so much better. Just go buy 6 of them at the hardware store and do away with those brass nuts all together.

      I hear you. They are cheap. I might have done something like that but the fiberglass was thin at the mount points, and close to the edges. I really didn't want to run into doing any fiberglass repair, so I left them in place. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the video Nate, I've been searching for a fairing for my 19 Road King, thats how I stumbled across your channel. Not easy to visit a store to get a good look at a fairing. Looking forward to see how your TrailerStore brand turns out.

    My question is were your bracket holes predrilled? I'm doing a aftermarket fairing install on my 06 heritage softail. Thanks this video has been inspiring.

    • @kalways_kustoms
      @kalways_kustoms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the bracket holes were pre-drilled from the factory. I didn't have to do any altering to the holes, just the slots. Good luck on your Softail. Thanks for watching!

    I put a Reckless XE fairing on my 2018 Heritage. It looks great, but I realized later that the gap between the fairing and the headlight is a lot bigger on one side than the other. How would you recommend trying to fix that? Washers on the bolt? Move the headlight? Possibly a dumb question, this is my first time doing more than adding and removing a windshield. Thanks!

    • @kalways_kustoms
      @kalways_kustoms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! Without seeing it, it would be hard to say for sure. You may have to add a spacer to even it out, providing that everything in the headlight area is seated correctly. I've never done anything more than paint a Reckless brand fairing, so I'm not too familiar with their fitment issues. From what I've heard, they are pretty good quality. Wish I could be of more help.....

    Braze a piece of flat stock to the side of the nutcert and then fiberglass over the flat stock so the nutcert wont spin

    I'm thinking of one these, but I don't like how they sit upright and away from the trees. maybe since you're messing with the brackets you could cut into it to create a closer angle? just a thought.

    • @kalways_kustoms
      @kalways_kustoms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I played around with it quite a bit to get the closest fit without causing any rubbing/cleaning issues. And with it at the angle it is, it deflects the wind really well. Thanks for watching!!

      @@kalways_kustoms I just watched your final episode and it turned out really nice. on the RK's it looks proper. I've seen on the softails not so much. I have a 99 fatboy that I'm considering, but I don't want it to look out of place. some look like this big fairing sitting away from the bike. I figure something out. thanks for responding.

      @kalways_kustoms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What model? Is it possible they shipped you one of a different bike? The nacelles can be different for different models....shouldn't need spacers.

    Do you have any problems with your fairing shaking from the vibration from the motor???

    • @kalways_kustoms
      @kalways_kustoms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not at all. Everything is tightly secured, so much so that the fairing is one with the bike. The fairing does vibrate with the bike, but I haven't had any issues because of it. Thanks for watching!
