To do this walk of around 6 km it took me around 3 hours to appreciate everything very well and I suggest you take a bottle of water that you can refill at the various sources available.
Trastevere, which means "beyond the Tiber", is an ancient neighborhood dating back to ancient Rome.
The neighborhood's main attraction is simply the Italian atmosphere that we can experience in this former working-class neighborhood. Strolling through the narrow streets of Trastevere and its highlights, we will marvel at the many authentic details, namely:
    • Piazzi di Santa Maria in Trastevere is the heart of the neighborhood. This square with the church of the same name and a fountain is a meeting point for the Trasteverini. At night, the area around this square is Rome's main entertainment area.
    • The Basilica Santa Maria in Trastevere: This basilica is the oldest Marian church in Rome and the main attraction of the neighborhood. After several restorations, the basilica has maintained its medieval character, partly thanks to the many authentic mosaics.
    • What to do in Trastevere on a Sunday? Every Sunday morning, until 2pm, Rome's most popular flea market takes place in Porta Portese and Via Portuense street. It sells everything from antiques to clothes.
    • Colle de Gianicolo, “Hill of the Janiculum”: This hill is next to the Trastevere neighborhood and it is worth climbing the hill for the beautiful view of Rome you will have. Almost at the top of the hill is the Fontana dell'Acqua Paola or Paola Water Fountain, a beautiful fountain. When you reach the top of the hill, you will find a park with a statue of the fighter for freedom and Italian unification, Giuseppe Garibaldi, on horseback, and where a cannon is fired every day at noon. You can then walk down the hill on the other side, which will take you towards the Vatican.
