There’s no such thing as a British accent, there’s British accents. There’s accents from the countries that make up the British isles and regional accents, for example the Geordie accent from Newcastle (upon Tyne)or Scouse from Liverpool.

I really appreciate your British accent... it is clear and sooo normal. I'm more used to American, so I'm even more surprised how nice it sounds to my ear. It's such a relief knowing British speak also this way... I mean without such heavy accent, which makes me so confused😅

How to learn to speak English in an environment where English is not spoken at all in public? I like how you pronounced the "water" and waiting" with a glottal sound. I appreciate that! Cheers!

Shadowing is practised by babies and toddlers in aquiring their native language. By doing so, they learn pronunciation, stress patterns, tunes, intonation patterns and also face mimic/facial expressions. Parents and surrounding environments are the main models for this "shadowing" activities. Because of them, various accents and dialects in a country appear. That is the power of shadowing in learning a language.

Not all medial /t/'s can be pronounced like /d/ in General American. Take "attack" and "retain". We still hear the "t"s there in each word. So, only medial /t/'s in unstressed syllables can be pronounced like /d/ or replaced by a glottal stop. If the "t" is located in a stressed syllable, however, the British people and the American people maintain the "t" in pronunciation.

American is a completely different language it’s not a matter of accent! I fail to understand why English and Americans insist on describing themselves as similar and together. The best recommendation for students is to adopt international English neutral in term of accent and certainly not American which in his pure form is not spoken anywhere except the US and the Phillipines.
