Yes, I am almost in total agreement, here. Renditions must be/have been sung -if done- by other top-class singers, such as (... yes!) Nana Mouskouri and (maybe) Morten Harket.
Paul Simon knew what he was doing when he let Art Garfunkel sing this song, and Art in turn gave the best performance of the song that I have ever heard, great job by both,,Paul and Artie
Absolutely beautifully written song by the Master, Paul Simon. A masterpiece of a song. No one else could possibly sing this timeless and beautiful song though, except Artie. I love these two and wish they'd put differences aside, and make up. Together even with their differences, they were One. Love both of them.
This was a magic I didn't understand when I was young. It is so true that Simon had a unique gift, but no one brought it to life like Garfunkel. He was the vocal magic that made Simon's ideas come to life. Neither were as strong apart. This is why their greatest hits album is still my favorite, even after all these years.
I've seen almost every live version of him singing this on YTand in EVERY SINGLE INSTANCE no matter how many times I watch, it has always brought tears to my eyes at the end. EVERY SINGLE TIME. He is masterful with this song.
Yes. My heart breaks with it. It is a spring morning after a rain, and the waters are rushing and tearing at the bridge on which I stand, and Art begins to sing. The water may still seem feirce, but his gentle voice calms it. The softness of his voice lets you know all is ok even if you are washed away. That is the magic of them together. Simon & Garfunkel are the only ones who carry you over the bridge, but they can only do it together.
you have to hear this song on a vinyl record.. it forever changed me! I started collecting records from that point on. such a powerful and beautiful song.
It will be two sad days when both Paul and Art come to pass that on each of their days should be marked on that day to honor them forever. Truly the best duo performers to grace humanity with angelic heavenly sounds and songs.
I sure wish I could have gone to one of their live performances. That would be a dream come true for me. Love you Art especially when you're singing this song.❤
That was so wonderful!! Love this man so much & so grateful that we can enjoy his great gift& talent. I saw him in concert in Ft. Myers, Fl last weekend (6/1/2019). He is older now but I was thrilled for the opportunity to see my idol in person. 💕💕💕
Norma Verleni I live in Cape Coral. Wish I had known he was here, I would have gone. My son dated Larry Knetchel’s granddaughter. Larry won a Grammy for the original piano version Simon and Garfunkel did of this song.
Yes. Art is really the one who can deliver or sing as what Paul wants. And it is really Pauls choice that Artie be the singer.. Pauls songs is for ART only. Love the songs till my last breath..
This is what a "Master Piece" is. Pure Pure Talent. Arts voice nobody can replace. And Paul's talent if writing is definitely "Off The Charts". This is what you call a "Classic"!! And this song will always be played and remembered through time and time again!!! Bravo❤❤
A pity that the Americans cannot be knighted. In my humble opinion, he should be right next to Sir Paul MacCartney and Sir Cliff Richard. What a gentleman.. what a decent guy and what a singer!
They are the Bach's, Mozarts and Vivaldi's of our age. "Bridge over Troubled Water, Bright Eyes, Yesterday, Michelle, Miss you nights" will still be heard a hundred years from now. ;-)
With all due respect--I love this song--one of my all-time favorites. That being said, I always thought it came off a bit weird live. It's so dramatic, I always feel a little let down when I see it live, and Arty's chops were so outstanding in 1970, it's hard to reproduce live.
Gifted. Feeling the lyrics was his burden. The pain, the joy, are all present. What an era he performed in. With all the great singers such as Micheal Jackson; Freddie Mercury; he managed to stand out alongside the greatest of them all. Now music is ridiculous and unmemorable. Unlike Elvis; or Michael or Freddie and Art Garfunkle. I'm so glad to have lived while they were alive. Elvis I missed as he died before I was born. But through reputation I watched his performances and realised why they called him king. Michael Jackson also earned his king of pop. Art Garfunkle has earned the king of Tears. Freddie was the king of the octave. I miss them all. Long may they reign.
Bridge over troubled water Paul Simon wrote the song and gave it to art Garfunkel to sing, and yes that was a very good decision that Paul Simon made to let art Garfunkel sing the song, one of the best performances in history.
Yea ! "Bridge Over Troubled Water" - a unique neoclassical song (with sweet melody & meaningful lyrics) which suits especially the E Flat Major key, i.e. singing it in a different key would noticeably sound a bit less pleasing & emphatic. One of my favorite piano pieces during my early college days, way back 1969- 70s until that song was more popular when it became a Grammy Award winner by 1971.
after concert in central park, all performances of this song were passable. worth listening too, sometimes barely. his voice at the time of the recording was angelic, clearly nothing like it here and later
This could be the best song ever written in the past 100 years.
Probably is. This or God Only Knows in my opinion.
It's outstanding I remember when the song came out his voice could never be duplicated
His vocals are so ridiculously good. My lord
Thank you Paul for a Song that will last Forever and Ever!! And allowing Your Friend ART sing 🎶 this Song for LIFE♥️♥️🥰🥰♥️♥️🎶🎶
Only Art can sing that song. No one else comes close. Paul Simon knew that.
What are you talking about? Paul wrote the song FOR Art!
Geoff Joffy Right 👍And was green with envy😁👍
Yes, I am almost in total agreement, here. Renditions must be/have been sung -if done- by other top-class singers, such as (... yes!) Nana Mouskouri and (maybe) Morten Harket.
My basin cousin sang it.
Please listen and tell me what you think

Casey Kasem called this the "Greatest song of friendship ever written". I agree.
From two men who can’t stand each other. Go figure!
Paul Simon knew what he was doing when he let Art Garfunkel sing this song, and Art in turn gave the best performance of the song that I have ever heard, great job by both,,Paul and Artie
Love with Every
Beat of Our Hearts
It's my favorite song eversince
❤❤🎉🎉
One of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard!!!
His voice dissolves one's worries better than any medicine or meditation.
He is the best, this music is already classical! Many tried but the original is always the best
How about Clay Aiken's rendition? :)
Bunny Loers yes indeed 😀👏👏👏
How about Elvis Presley rendition?
@@hattiem.7966 That was the best cover ever!
Morten Harket came close but this song belongs to Art

Peut etre est ce d un commun accord qu ils ont cessé de chanter (plus on en donne plus le monde en veut) ça doit finir par être exigent
Maybe it's not just the demands on them. Art had a vocal chord give out during a concert. It had to have been awful.

A legend. A voice of an angel. I will love you forever sir!!
Sasha LoPiccolo Dane here🥰🥰🥰

My God this is beautiful.
Phil Nicolas yes it certainly is 🥰🥰👍🥰
He is simply one of the greatest, if not the greatest of all time. Thank you Art for singing that wonderful song.
i am only coming to appreciate that now, he is up there with one of the greatest voices of all time.
oh my lord his voice is so beautiful
He has the voice like no other, simply unrivaled.
The master of voice control. Can't touch this.
you have to hear this song on a vinyl record.. it forever changed me! I started collecting records from that point on. such a powerful and beautiful song.
Yes, vinyl carries the essence of the song, much more than digital.
I could listen to Art for hours on end .
That voice is so nuanced and subtle..
Like fine gold in a crucible.
I remember when this first came out. I have always loved this song. Art Garfunkel sang it best
I adore this performance and art Garfunkel
Art you should be eternal... I love your voice... my soul flies...
Art is the best singer of all times. What a beauty.
Even after all those years, he's still got such an amazing singers voice
I love SIMON & GARFUNKEL ❤️❤️❤️❤️
It will be two sad days when both Paul and Art come to pass that on each of their days should be marked on that day to honor them forever. Truly the best duo performers to grace humanity with angelic heavenly sounds and songs.
The best voice ever
lol Paul Simon's voice is sweeter
On this song definitely!
Great comments, everyone. A classic song and one of Garfunkel's best live performances of it. He rose to the occasion.
I sure wish I could have gone to one of their live performances. That would be a dream come true for me. Love you Art especially when you're singing this song.❤
Greatest song ever written & recorded!
Such an handsome man...
That was so wonderful!! Love this man so much & so grateful that we can enjoy his great gift& talent. I saw him in concert in Ft. Myers, Fl last weekend (6/1/2019). He is older now but I was thrilled for the opportunity to see my idol in person. 💕💕💕

That song was made for him and only him
Yes for him only. The Legend
Yes. Art is really the one who can deliver or sing as what Paul wants. And it is really Pauls choice that Artie be the singer.. Pauls songs is for ART only. Love the songs till my last breath..
Voice super good. Iam very like it
Yes, Paul specifically said that he wrote this song for Artie to sing. That says it all, right? 💞
So true
This is what a "Master Piece" is. Pure Pure Talent. Arts voice nobody can replace. And Paul's talent if writing is definitely "Off The Charts". This is what you call a "Classic"!! And this song will always be played and remembered through time and time again!!! Bravo❤❤
A pity that the Americans cannot be knighted. In my humble opinion, he should be right next to Sir Paul MacCartney and Sir Cliff Richard. What a gentleman.. what a decent guy and what a singer!
In my books Art is one of the elite. His music exemplified the trying times America experienced in the late 60s and 70s.
Americans can be knighted... Well, sorda.
Garfunkel pop royalti
Damn him and those beautiful dancing eyes, as he holds his angelic notes. Drives me wild.
Poetry in motion,truly.
Perfection.
Oh how i love that man and his beautiful voice.
Tears in my eyes...
They are the Bach's, Mozarts and Vivaldi's of our age. "Bridge over Troubled Water, Bright Eyes, Yesterday, Michelle, Miss you nights" will still be heard a hundred years from now. ;-)
that is exactly what i think, plus you cited three of the very best classical composers...great minds think alike :-)

Agree 100%
TRUE INDEED!
With all due respect--I love this song--one of my all-time favorites.
That being said, I always thought it came off a bit weird live. It's so dramatic, I always feel a little let down when I see it live, and Arty's chops were so outstanding in 1970, it's hard to reproduce live.
Unreal singing!
A ROYAL PERFORMANCE. A MAGNIFICENT VOICE. WHERE WAS PAUL? SOLO OR DUET, " SIMON & GARFUNKEL" ARE SUPERB".
Paul Simon wrote this for him.
2024 and still find this a haunting melody...

Sounds like he's always in a Cathedral, except his voice comes down from the highest part of the ceiling
Great singer.
Bridge over troubled water Paul Simon wrote the song and gave it to art Garfunkel to sing, and yes that was a very good decision that Paul Simon made to let art Garfunkel sing the song, one of the best performances in history.
