He's oversimplifying it, so much that it leaves a lot of room for misinterpretation. While it's true that passion will take you far, a passion for art and chess and other non-stem fields is not what space agencies are looking for. And even if you have a passion in stem field, bachelors and masters is not enouh, you need phd. Exceling at what you do is a freebie in stem fields because you have to do that anyway, it's a part of your job description to constantly learn new things and become better at them. Anybody can say that they are a team player, that's why you have to prove it, by showing you have been participating in team based sports or in clubs, but being a team player is again an umbrella term. The list is in addition missing a 4. point - being healthy. Many people have healthy lifestyles and are yet not healthy. Being in shape might be a freebie for some military professions, but if you work in a lab or office all day, you'll have to exercise when you get home. So i don't think it's that simple... and these points are also not covering possible psychological issues. If your parents were abusive, had generational trauma, ocd and other issues, by living in that sort of environment, your behaviour will also get effected. You might do great in your team sport and club, but that doesn't mean that you can handle stressfull, difficult or new and unusual situations.
I really would like to go to space at some point, but not become an astronaut. I hope space travel will be available for normal citizens in the future, which it probably won’t cause we’re advancing kinda slow in space exploration.
what are the chances of a PhD student in stem field have compared to other fields...? so which course is most likely to give you a good possibility. since I am not a us citizen, I don't think I can have test pilot experience or us military experience. I am currently studying at niser Bs MS program India and space is my first crush since 12
Sir, I have done my laser eye surgery and now my eyes are 20/20 healthy. Can I now apply for nasa's astronaut program? Plaese reply I have done this just because of becoming an astronaut..
@אלף החרב You can get citizenship my guy. It's not easy and takes a while but you can if you apply for another job through H1B or other visas. I suggest googling ways to get citizenship.
You can apply for citizenship bruh anywhere. An Indian astronaut named Kalpana chawla went to USA after doing even her bachelor in India, still could apply for citizenship. Prolly would take two years and you can keep studying or training to become an astronaut. Go!
1 Pursue your passion
2 Excel at what you do
