Michael Jordan's most dominant game Vs Isiah Thomas' Detroit Pistons (Rivals)

  • Michael Jordan had his work cut out for him any time he faced the Detroit Pistons. The Detroit Pistons were of course led by the great Isiah Thomas, who is arguably the best 2 way point guard of all time. They were coached by the great Chuck Daly, who was one of the greatest coaches of all time. Adrian Dantley was a cagey veteran, who could still score with the best of them. Dantley was one of the best beneath the rim scorers in NBA history. Joe Dumars was an offensive threat on a nightly basis, and a lock down 2 way player. Bill Laimbeer was a stretch big who was well known for his rough tactics on the court. Dennis Rodman was a rookie coming off the bench. Bottom line, Detroit's roster was stacked from top to bottom. It's amazing that Michael Jordan holds any wins over the Detroit Pistons, considering the inferior roster that MJ had around him in comparison. This contest was an absolute battle, from beginning to end, with Michael Jordan digging deep and finding that extra gear that only MJ had. (Kobe's extra gear has come the closest so far.) This was an absolutely incredible performance, with the odds heavily against MJ, including Detroit's 30-2 record when taking a lead in to the 4th quarter, heading in to this contest. Enjoy!

    Blitz Sports Network PSA: Always remember, the individuals who say "Michael Jordan didn't face great competition in his era" are trying to tell you something IMPORTANT. They are trying to tell you that they didn't watch the Michael Jordan era, and there are much better things you could be doing with your time rather than listening to their takes on an era they didn't even watch. Would you go to someone for an opinion on Shakespeare if they had never seen the plays Macbeth, Hamlet, or Othello? Of course you wouldn't. Consider the source. Nobody who watched that era would trash the talent all around the league. Michael Jordan played in a great era with a great blend of fierce competitors, awe inspiring athletes, lock down defenders, knock down shooters, and ultra skilled ballers.

      @dc4690 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Exactly...It’s just like hack-a-Shaq in my opinion.
      They used a loop hole or lenient interpretation of the rules back then to physically hurt MJ because they literally could not stop him.As seen in this video he could do everything offensively and defensively.
      Teams literally could NOT stop Shaq without fouling him with a football move or use football type force in their fouls to keep him from scoring.
      So teams would run up their own team foul count,then immediately after their offensive possession was over they’d run and grab Shaq to foul him and put him on the free throw line...As opposed to letting him catch it in the post.
      That’s insane!
      That’s how dominant prime Shaq was!

    Jordan and the Bulls got hammered BIG TIME after he did that. The Pistons went on to institute what they called the "Jordan rules". And with that they made sure the Bulls never made it into the finals year after year after year after year.

      Dum!rs was the key. He could use handcheckung with forearm. He was stong enough to handle him in post. When they got Mahorn and Ruland that was to counter Celtics frontline. Pistons had to learn to get by the celtics 3 4 years. Then when they win east. Lakers were still able to use exp to win. Bulls were same they finally l÷arned and beat pistons. It was also a old team. While bulls had most of squad 24 27

    And they keep saying without Pippen MJ is nothing. Well, where was Pippen in games like this when MJ was mesmerizing the entire universe at both ends of the court? I rest my case. MJ was GOAT-destined from day one...with or without Pippen. Folks like Wright, Isaiah, Sharp, and Cowherd should just shut the effen up already coz the everlasting GOAT of Basketball is MICHAEL JEFFERY JORDAN, period.

      I think 88 east finals Pistons had celtics down but Dantley collided heads with Vinnie and got knocked out. Next year they traded Dantley to Dallas for Aguire. Dantley was so underrated. He was 6'4 at most but led nba 6 7 years in FTs And Atts. You have him lambeer, paxson. Notre damers. Banks played at duke as fr beat irish in final four semis. Lamibeer tripuckA on team. Woolridge was a bull Tripucka was piston.

    Isiah Thomas will often lie about him being the only AllStar on his team that faced Jordan and the Bulls! Adrian Dantley was a 6time All -Star and had been to 3 All Star games before and during the time that Jordan was in the league facing the Pistons. Adrian was also the Rookie of the Year in his first season and a 2 time scoring champion while facing Jordan, in fact Adrian not Isiah was the best player on that team but Isiah ran the point and controlled the ball. While Jordan was playing against the Pistons Dennise Rodman became a 2 time Defensive Player of the year! So, Jordan and the Bulls faced an All-Star in Isiah Thomas, an All-Star, 2 time Scoring Champ in Adrian Dantley and a 2 time Defensive Player of the Year in Rodman. Don't let Isiah blow smoke of your nose, the man had one hell of a team!

    • @RepentOrPerishL133

      On that top of that Dantley from 1979-84 averaged 30.6ppg. The year before being traded to the Pistons 29.8. Because Dantley was complaining about his playing time (Rodman), he believes Isaiah got him traded to the Mavericks for his good buddy Adrian Dantley another All-star. He LIES knowing this fans today or too lazy to fact check. He spew straight garbage like there isn't receipts to expose his Lies. Dude they have video. You can Google old news articles.
