Great video and wow what a catch in the first pot. I am looking at shrimp pots I have several large square blue crab pots I have had for years always produce. Several times I actually caught flounders in my pots. I live on the outer banks of North Carolina. Have a blessed day!
PK , crab is truly one of the foods of the gods ! I gotta get out the mop to swab the puddle I got at my feet from all the damn drool ! 😛👍🏻👅🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍽🍽🍽🍽🍽 !!!!!
I was a bit puzzled by the snare or snare's but whatever works!!! I think our snaring in Ca. is a bunch more fun but my kingdom to pull a pot like PK did!!!!! There were a bunch with bragging rights in that first pull!!!!
M8/friend,try this, When you have got your crabs, and your back doing your cook up,when you have boiled or cooked them put them in a ice water slurry for 5 minutes,it makes the yummy meat contract and don't stick to shell, you can just pull nippers and legs, and all internal meat will come out with nippers or legs,it also saves having to clean the crab before or after cooking man, well that's how we do it down here in Australia with out MUD crabs and sand crabs,👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Love your channel bud, keep them clips coming, cheers
Years ago 3 friends and I went out on a charter out of that bay for halibut. We drove straight through from Wyoming to go out in the perfect storm. Captain of the boat said he normally wouldn't go out in that weather but because we drove so far........crabbing would have been fun.
Awesome videos!. I once cut one crab off the pier. Down in Long Beach California. I just got tangled on my line and I was just fishing for halibut. And I caught a small Dungeness.
I'd like to see you grab the business ends of a Northeastern blue crab like that. Your new nickname will be Stumpy PK. :D Great video. Enjoyed the cooking segment too!
I like all your surf fishing video I also like surf fishing too but I could only go twice a month from where I live(Tracy CA) two hours drive from Santa Cruz I thank you for your video.
Great video!!!! I have never seen a snare like the ones PK bought. I make two types, one a bit small and one bigger style. For the bigger type I use the instructions from a video by scorpiontube712. I did make my own mods but they work great here in Calif. using rod & reel. If I had a boat I would be following PKs way of doing things. Great video!!!!
went out to coos bay on the oct 27( lowtide) and kept 24 6"+ crabs and 8 red rocks outof 5 traps and five drops , threw back at least 12 6"+ crabs some ofthem soft , got maybe 2 females all day and a few shorts
beautiful video. great lunch. i have a fishing bayliner but cant use it, need a driver. man you have all the nice equipment. must buy some..is the trap for fishing crab different than the one for lobster. i am new at this.????? i have subscribed. thank you San Diego, Ca.
very nice video quality. i'm hungry for crabs now......You could empty the entire trap FIRST, then put back in the water..THEN sort the crabs! More active trap time that way.
Pk AWESOME crabbing! I normally go at Newport jetty for crabbing on fishing poles with a snare on the end of it. we had lots of success doing it too. It a lots of fun too!
WE were using 10 feet fishing poles with a 50 lbs braided its a must to have. It does not break and a lot easy to throw out far on the water. we tried the collapsible net they really work too.
Crab snares are usually for fishing poles. For fishermen’s on docks, jetty’s or on shore. I think you just invented something new, no need for cages anymore lol jk. Great video!!
Is there a taste difference after you clean them, then cook them by way of steam? versus just steaming the crab whole without cleaning them - the original way you see them at the market? I always wondered if there was a difference in flavor and taste.
Yes, I think so. dungeness and red rock crabs are the most popular, there are others but I don't know if they allow retention. I caught a kelp crab before off the jetty, it was small but had huge claws
Looks great pk. Did the surf fishing at newport in September. It was so much much fun. Caught alot of fish. Caught some crabs also. The meat stuck to the shell. What usually causes that. I see u cook your crabs with no water. I was always told to cook them in sea salt in water. Obviously that's not the only way. How long do u cook your crabs
I boil the water first, after it boils, I toss the crab in and let it go for 15 minutes. Here we used butter and about 1/2 cup of fresh water. you can use ocean water, but we have a lot of seagulls at the boat docks and lots of bird droppings ... too risky. if you cook crab over an open flame or coal, it will stick to the shell. you won't have that problem if you boil it instead.
Kinda off topic from video but I've seen a lot of your Oregon surf fishing videos and I was wondering how do you know where a good spot is I live on the umpqua and bank fishin has been a bit slow for me and I want to try something different like surf fishing
Hi PK, could you list the exact location of the beach in this video ie town, city, which stretch of the beach so i know where to stop by next time i am in Oregon. thanks
Sautee Garlic and shallots with olive oil and butter to preference. Add 1 whole lemon juice, some salt, pepper, Fresh basil leaves, 1 bottle of your favourite Ale, and steam on High heat for 10 minutes, medium heat for another 10. That's only my basic recipe.
Very nice video I wish I could live in Oregon too. PK are you originally from San Francisco area? I noticed you were wearing fortyniners hat few times from your videos.
Hi, I noticed that you changed your method of cleaning the crab. The previous two videos you hit the crab against a hard edge, which seemed a lot faster and more humane. This time you ripped the top of the crab off with your hands. I'm just curious why you changed your method.
I think you kinda missed the idea of crab snares, even though yours were huge as ll can be. The smaller ones you see us here in San Francisco Bay area use are for people who don't have a boat. We use 10-12 ft. surf rods and prefer 30-60lb Braid cast on the beach just past the breaking waves. If not on beach use a harbor or Jetty as you have a gob of them up in your area. Fill the smaller ones with squid and cast out for about 10 minutes reel in..Nice and simple. That bait box conversion is ok just not quite the same.
I think he was just going proof of concept to make sure the snare loops actually work. I'm pretty sure he cut them off as soon as he got home because he doesn't need to snare in rough surf from the beach. He'll just take his boat out with a nice trap; esp as he mentions in the vid description, traps are the best way to catch crab in Oregon.
1 whole stick of butter. Fisherman'sLife would be so proud.
dude.. that is the life... I just bought a boat this year, hoping to live it up like you are..
had a blast PK! thanks for the invitation, cant wait to get out and do it again, those crab were freaking delicious!
Love your catch and cook videos. Looking forward for more catch n cook video in the future

This video kills me every time I watch it! Just makes me want to get out on the water even more. I need to go fishing.. lol
They’re my favorite part of your channel
I love your videos on crabbing, and WOW!!! You got some BIG ones this trip!!
Thank you. It's peak dungeness season here in Oregon, the big ones are pretty common.
Ur cute
Just a reminder to all my California anglers - snares have a 6-loop maximum👍
how many loops max in Oregon?
I was a bit puzzled by the snare or snare's but whatever works!!! I think our snaring in Ca. is a bunch more fun but my kingdom to pull a pot like PK did!!!!! There were a bunch with bragging rights in that first pull!!!!
I can't wait to go!!, I'm in Vancouver wa. Going to get my cage wire and trimmed line today❣️❣️

Mongo seems really happy!
Awesome! Definitely looked delicious.
Those Dungeness look so good. I would love to go there and crabbing. Only blue crabs in Florida.
WoW! Y'all wasted no time in cooking them up... looks delicious!!! Fish ON!!! Crab ON !!!
I'd like to see you grab the business ends of a Northeastern blue crab like that. Your new nickname will be Stumpy PK. :D

Wow Oregon crab limit is 12 make me wanna take a drive down there
Nice job guys 👍
Man, that looks good!
Damn pk ..YOU GOT A HUGE FLATSCREEN AS A FISH FINDER!!lol
Amazing!!!!!!! Good lawd that makes me hungry.
Thanks for the fun
Okay, I was always taught you cook crabs like that alive. Or at least that is how I used to do it on the east coast.
Love your job, wonderful. goodluck
Great video. Now I am hungry and I just had my dinner! 🤣
Talk about fresh! What do mussels taste like? What is their consistency when eating them?
They're really good. The texture is similar to clams
beautiful video. great lunch. i have a fishing bayliner but cant use it, need a driver. man you have all the nice equipment. must buy some..is the trap for fishing crab different than the one for lobster. i am new at this.????? i have subscribed. thank you San Diego, Ca.

Great vids man

Please update more and update more crabbing videos more specifically
Pk AWESOME crabbing! I normally go at Newport jetty for crabbing on fishing poles with a snare on the end of it. we had lots of success doing it too. It a lots of fun too!
Nice. Tossing a snare off the jetty sounds like a lot of fun. I might have to do a video on that!
WE were using 10 feet fishing poles with a 50 lbs braided its a must to have. It does not break and a lot easy to throw out far on the water. we tried the collapsible net they really work too.
Pk I made two of your home made snare and tried them at the jetty they really work ! awesome invention. THANKS.
Crab snares are usually for fishing poles. For fishermen’s on docks, jetty’s or on shore. I think you just invented something new, no need for cages anymore lol jk. Great video!!
Where did you catch the muscles and that looks good
Is there a taste difference after you clean them, then cook them by way of steam?
versus just steaming the crab whole without cleaning them - the original way you see them at the market?
I always wondered if there was a difference in flavor and taste.
Dude I love your videos
great video
You are a crab machine
Kind of boat do you got with what engine? 😊
I want to go crabbing so bad!
Very nice immediately cooking taste so good, I am also hungry. Keep it up.
This is illegal in British Columbia Canada 😔 would be nice to be able to do this off the docks and piers.
great video, are there other crab spieces that you can go after?
Yes, I think so. dungeness and red rock crabs are the most popular, there are others but I don't know if they allow retention. I caught a kelp crab before off the jetty, it was small but had huge claws

I enjoy your videos, PK. Why does your fish finder have "no crotch shot" taped on it?
+alessandra21 haha. I've had videos where my Gopro was pointed down at my crotch and wanted to reminded myself to avoid that embarrassment
I figured it was something along those lines, classic!! Tight lines and fish on!!
Hi PK, could you list the exact location of the beach in this video ie town, city, which stretch of the beach so i know where to stop by next time i am in Oregon. thanks
Pour beer into the pan too. Mix the gravy from the shell to add to the flavoring bro. My ratio is 1 dungie 5 beers lol.
You mean down the hatch right lol
Sautee Garlic and shallots with olive oil and butter to preference. Add 1 whole lemon juice, some salt, pepper, Fresh basil leaves, 1 bottle of your favourite Ale, and steam on High heat for 10 minutes, medium heat for another 10. That's only my basic recipe.
How long do you cook the legs for
Is it possible to catch them on shore? I’ve only caught blue crab before
THE EVILPORKCHOP I've caught them in the surf before
Savage nice job
Nice rig. How big is that boat and what size motor do you have on it. Looks comfy for three guys.
it's a 14 footer with a 9.8 HP Tohatsu motor. 3 guys would be the limit for sure.
Very nice video I wish I could live in Oregon too.
PK are you originally from San Francisco area? I noticed you were wearing fortyniners hat few times from your videos.
Andy Gim no. I live in oregon but been a Niners fan all my life.
YOU GOT THE LIFE +++++++++++
I did not know you can have so many loops
If all goes well. Ill be moving to medford in 2020. Maybe you can take me crabbing xD probably not but i can dream.
You'll love Oregon. And if our schedule coincide, sure.
PK Yi wish i could love a comment. You made my life :)
There's no limit to the number of snare loops you can put on your cages up there?
I checked the 2017 regs but I don't see it. 3 pots/rings/nets per person is all it states. Nothing in the statewide section either.
Read it again...6 allowed
Why do you clean the crabs that way? The butter in the crab heads are good after you steam em up whole.
the toxins are in the butter and lungs , better to remove them before cooking
Thanks I did not know that
T- Minus 2 days (CA)... Good luck and tight lines everyone!
I thought that if its more than six loops it’s illegal
Cool
Are there two types of dungeness. Hard and soft shell?
Besides the sexes, no. The softness just comes after they are done molting
PK Yi thanks
I love the Mother-in-law joke and thank you for no crotch shots. I hope your wife is not watching this video, lol.
In Oregon you can only have 6 snares per trap. Check your a state regulations on shellfish. This Snare is illegal in Oregon.
How long did you cook for? How much time passed?
Once the pan is hot, we put in the crab and cook for about 15 minutes.
Awesome, did you add water too our just butter? Big fan of your videos too.
Jeffrey Reynolds yes. Added about 1/2 cup of water (garlic will burn if you don't)
Hi, I noticed that you changed your method of cleaning the crab. The previous two videos you hit the crab against a hard edge, which seemed a lot faster and more humane. This time you ripped the top of the crab off with your hands. I'm just curious why you changed your method.
+Q Lee I did hit it but the cap didn't cleanly come off. So I edited to the part where I tore it apart
PK Yi , thanks, i was just curious. Btw, i enjoy all the videos you've been posting. I've been learning a lot. :)
Yup , just need a lil more butter for me .
Great Video PK! Keep'em coming! Where did you buy your trimmer line? Would like to buy some and compares it to Home Depot's blue weed trimmer line.
Same stuff just buy it for diameter. I use 60Lb. mono as cheap and has same spring-e-ness.
Good stuff PK... but? What's the point in catching a M.I.L.? Yer just gonna throw 'em back anyhow. LOL
How many is the limit in oregon
It’s always the mother in law huh? 😄
What's the deal with the 'no crotch shot!!!' label on your fish finder/depth finder?
Just reminding myself to point up my gopro up if it gets knocked down
Who is your friend in the wheelchair?
Never understood why y'all don't steam em
I think you kinda missed the idea of crab snares, even though yours were huge as ll can be. The smaller ones you see us here in San Francisco Bay area use are for people who don't have a boat. If you have a boat..if just near a beach can use snares as intended....That is my situation no boat, so use snares from beach.
What kind of pan is that? I want one
It's a Calphalon 2 - 1/2 quart pan: amzn.to/2r2yhWl
Hey pk i live out here in OR would love to go fishing together sometime
well, if it works for the mother in law!!! LMAO
WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
Uhh... isn't the point to NOT catch a mother-in-law? LOL Great stuff there.
no crotch shot. indeed. someone's always angling for a view.
I’m really hungry now
