Hey brother that's the best engine stand I've seen in all of TH-cam great stuff I wish you lots of luck with the Firebird if you need anything let me now I been working on Firebird first generation for a while now
Proof Pontiac engines can take abuse, almost a gallon of water in the crankcase, still has good compression and runs. I am sure the shopping cart engine run stand helped too! I am thinking I need to get out of the freezer here in Indianapolis, want any help? I am sure it’s a lot warmer in Arizona.
That 350 seems decent. You should just do a "rattle can rebuild" and just take the pan and valve covers off, clean it up, re-gasket the engine and throw a coat of paint on it and stick it in the car and see what happens. Worst case scenario if the engine is bad atleast it will give you all the parts needed to get the car setup and working with a Pontiac engine. Best case scenario it will run great and may last a while.
@@ArrowheadGarage lol, ok , forgot about the loss of one cylinder due to Head issue.. Dont destroy it Brian. Learned quite a bit thru your videos.. Thanks..
id fill with straight deisel and 1 quart of tranny fluid this is how i flush drowned motors on side by sides atleast 3 times then go straight oil cheap 1 time run for 5 mins then change filter and oil should be good maybe one more time. diesel is cheap enough to do this with regular oil would cost too much plus wouldnt clean like that deisel
The person that told you that a 350 Chevy wouldn't work in your Pontiac is a moron. ALL Chevy v8 engines will bolt into your Firebird. All you have to do is use Camaro motor mounts and possibly oil pans if the Chevy motor came from something besides a Camaro or a Chevelle....I put a 283 in my 67 GTO. It was easier tan putting the 400 back in it....
I didn't say you COULDN"T, if you watch my first video on this 1967 Firebird here: th-cam.com/video/dyKQr9068Gw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=MLtmZNmLkr4KgTA_ you will see it had a late 70s Chevy 350 in it already. It can be done, but for me I didn't want a bowtie in my Bird. Thanks for watching, starting the paint and body now on this car.
The crankshaft turns clockwise
Distributor counter clockwise
Cool video! I'm glad you stayed with that 350. She's a runner!
Thank you man, appreciate you watching and dropping a comment!

Great episode!! Was the engine spinning clockwise? Cant wait to see the 326 running.. Maybe swapping 350 heads on the 326?
The heads on the 350 won’t do the 326 much Justice :-( going to see if I can start the 326 on 7 cylinders lol no really lol
