I just ordered a Nexus 7. I've been wanting a tablet since the iPad first came out but I've held off every time because I just didn't feel like tablets were ready yet. This tablet has finally combined all the things I've been looking for into one tablet at the right price. I don't need my hand held while I'm using a computer I want to be able to do what I want to the hardware when I want I don't want the OS fighting me the whole time and this tablet really offers that with the power I need.
I, so happy you said that you dont care about the accessories at this point because it becomes repetitive and we all know what the basics are with phone and tablets. Well done! You wasted no time talking about the tablet right away.
I have a new iPad and I rated this video up. Not only does a 7" tablet not appeal to a consumer who wants a 10" tablet, the iPad's Retina Display on makes it a premium tablet.
That makes a lot more sense than the review I read, thanks.
I agree with your thoughts regarding the lag and the fact that you still feel the need to move to the PC or laptop on many occasions because the tablets are not yet evolved enough to replace the desktops
There's a landscape mode. The thing you've been hearing is about the home screen/launcher. That's what's locked into landscape mode.
It's for the granny group and power user = basically everyone. This thing will sell like crazy. I'm more than sure the preorders are going nuts already.
According to Matias Duarte, it supposed to be like that, so you have more to hold when landscape. According to him, it helps with gaming as well. It is a feature.
The nexus 7 tablet is an awesome device! Ipod good for jogging, this tablet is good for networking, movies, and music on-the-go!
get the nexus, it's just as "smooth" as any ios device with 4.1 Jelly Bean, the build feels fantastic and sturdy, the actual back cover is very grippy and looks nice and slick. and as the size/notebook like weight, as the video stated, makes it very comfortable to hold in the hand, If the ipad mini will exist it'll probably still be very heavy due to apples material choice I'd think.
he held it in his hands and didn't use a scale (tho he could of looked at the weight specs) Its how the weight feels in the hand he is more then likely commenting on. So he is doing his job right. Do your job as a commenter right!
that subtle 7 on the box blew my fucking mind
And the Nexus 7 is definitely hitting the "sweet spot" with the price, scecs, and the new JELLY BEAN / BUTTER OS .... Before i got my playbook, I wanted an ipad, then i saw the asus transformer prime when it came out (Asus totally switched me over to android).... Although i loved the features on both devices, the $499 price tag was not ideal ..... But now the Nexus 7, is the best of both worlds!!! The combination of the WOW features, and the price =) They finally got it right...
They both have pros and cons. I would save up and keep the ipod in case you don't like the Nexus 7, but I think you will :)
Nerdy shooting pics with such a device... and i bet you have a rather good smartphone which does the job!
I think it is on preorder only as of now..I ordered it but it has not yet been released. Thank you for feedback though!
Well, it might be the best contender in this price range, at least at this moment. The other 200USD tablets offer in most cases a single-core or at the best a dual-core Cortex A8/A9 CPU, 512 or 1024MB of ram and sometimes a Mali 400MP GPU, but they are all semi-unknown brands like Goclever, Allview, Serioux or other rebranded chinese tablets.
So The Nexus 7 is definitely the best buy in this price range, and it's the next gadget on my 2012 to-buy list.
looks great and cant wait to have it in my hands!
Old Brandon Miniman. Great guy.
Its funny how the nexus is "so thick" when 6 months ago we had things double its size which were "slimish".
i hope nothing comes out better than this before my birthday! my price range! September 24 is luck
I like how on the box the bezel of the nexus looks like a 7. Those little things (I used to be a graphic design student, sue me)
This box has like 3 accessories max. I didn't think people got this deep into ac adapters!
Have iPad 2, Hp Touchpad, now I need an android tablet. And for $200? So buying it man.
Some one genius designed that box !! Google Rule !!
I got one today, I love it Merry Christmas
4:10 ...."Jelly Beam"! lol
YES THEY DO!!!!
your videos are amazing tanks for recorder this for all people, because this information is very good to take at the time to buy one gadget
It is a good tablet for the price for those who do want mobile internet, the traveler and those who read tons of books. This is not ideal for productivity. It is an on the go device. For its size and as a tablet it is the ideal place to retreat when you are in a public place eg, waiting for your next flight at an airport, taking your lunch break at work, waiting on the doctor, etc etc...small as it is, catch a few news stories, watch a TV show. You sure can't run Python on this though...
Hello ,,, can you tell me the date when this device got out
and the price please >>> thanx
one year later... i'm gonna buy this tablet but you said in the video that you're gonna go deeper into performance later on. did you mean in another video? where can i find it?
Was it locked in landscape mode or does it even have a landscape mode?? I heard from somewhere that Android 4.1 eliminated switching from portrait to landscape, is this true? Great review, one of the best I've found for this tablet.
I always love Brandon's review!
When i first heard of this tablet, i said: WTF! no SD! no 3g! No tablet interface!... but then WTF 200 bucks!!! I'm getting this for sure!
What is with the distaste so much to a couple of millimetres thickness against one of the thinnest tablets around, I find if things are too thin it is uncomfortable to hold and feel fragile. Weight is the most important factor in tablet ergonomics, and it is nice and light so that makes up for a mere couple millimetres.
considering the resolution is quite a bit higher than an iPad 2 and it has a smaller screen, I think the resolution is very good, not retina-PPI and not SuperAmoled/SuperIPS/SuperLCD but for the price point it's amazing...
I have a playbook, in fact im using it to reply to your comment... The playbook is not all that... I will continue to use it after i replace it with my new nexus... But there is nothing the playbook can do thats better than the nexus, other than cameras and touch bezel... If you choose the nexus, you will be getting the quality of one of the upper tablets... At a dirt cheap price =) In my book there is only one answer... And thats NEXUS
( Although i really do enjoy my playbook :0 )
you can only if you went to the google I/O or buy off someone.
i want to see this bad boy running some good games. :D
Honestly! IF you dont care about the accessories, what does you think that I do not want to see them? I want to know if there is headphones with it, sometimes manufacturer can be cheap, and let the headphones out.
my nexus 7 came in the post today as well haha
My first android tablet
it always was. It's not like anyone has the BB Playbook :P
If you don't mind a big iPod it is the best thing you can do.
Also, just a backing? I... Don't think you'll be able to change it out. It's not the Nook.
I have to say that the "blown up phone" interface is a bit disappointing. I hope that this isn't the stock JB tablet interface. I much prefer the current ICS/HC interface with the bottom task bar.
Oh, and another thing? Tegra 3's probably been fine. It's Android that's never taken advantage of hardware graphics acceleration to knowledge, which is what Jelly Bean brings.
I mean in every nexus unboxing vid, the reviewer opens the box with a paper clip, or a piece of hard plastic, or a set of keys. Does no-one carry a pocket knife any more? Anyway, enjoyed the vid and hope mine ships today or tomorrow, as some are reporting.
thanks you soo much for saying that the rear camera doesn't matter, i mean who really takes pictures with a tablet???
Oops, I meant portrait mode* The home screen is locked into portrait mode, but all other apps that are landscape-capable will go into landscape mode when the orientation is adjusted as such. In apps like GMail that are tablet-optimized, a change in interface will occur, namely that GMail in particular will show a 2-paned window, with one side showing a list of e-mails and the other showing the content.
this could potentially kill the ipad... And the first android tablet that I seriously like.
i love videos from you guys, but i think there're many people are using the rear camera of a tablet
Why call names? The iPad 3 is a better tablet to a lot of people because they prefer a 10" high-resolution tablet that's big enough to possibly replace a laptop for a lot of tasks, most certainly more tasks than the Nexus 7. The tablet closest to the iPad with Android is the Transformer. The Transformer is pretty much a Nexus 7 in 7" form of the Transformer.
It kinda has to be that wide tho. Because where would you place your thumbs in landscape mode? :(
Best thing in the world, just watch this on my brand new nexus!!!
Can you add your own photos and music onto the device ?
Please tell me where you got it from, i want one and hoping you got it online cause i am in Egypt :D
haven't see this device on landscape mode, just curious.
My Toshiba thrive has ads ex and that thing is so smooth compared to stock launcher
That's not the Tegra 3's fault...that's Sense at work
No, he's right. Tegra 3 is slow compared to its competitors like the Exynoses and Snapdragons.
Great review i,m exited to Buyten it
thank you!
Why do i love unboxings ?
Thanks
i'm having the same thoughts i got ipod touch 4g , any advices ?
I have the galaxy s3 international and I am used to a high ppi, but I do often use my old international s2 and I don't notice pixels from a usable distance. Seen as out the nexus 7 has basically the same ppi as the galaxy s2 i9100 and things will be bigger on the display than they would be on my old s2. I really doubt I will care about the ppi of the nexus 7 :) (plus I have the galaxy tab 10.1 which has a ppi of 150 :D) Just ordered the 16gb one :)
Hahaha every unboxing I've seen for the Nexus 7, they always try to rotate it but it's always off haha
3:16 ha! your move
so when does this come out?!
i don't even need to prove my point you're doing it for me lol
btw where's the main camera??
Woah....
Dear Santa!!
you forgot to mention the ausome voice feature
The problem isn't with the processor, the problem is that the software isn't doing it justice.
do u buy the phones that u review if u do how do u get tthat much money ;)
saw them from concert and talks....especially for old people
the nexus 7 rules!!!!!
I would really love this tablet but I really need one thing for certain things, and thats keyboard, does anyone know if there will be at least some third party keyboard for nexus7 this year?
Was it an online store? if they have an online store please give me the link :)
can you listen to music while using the internet browser?
if it was the os,than why is jellybean running darn smooth on my galaxy nexus compared to the tablet?
iPod or iPad? I don't know if I'd replace an mp3 player with something this big ... but iPad, sure! Long live Android.
$249 for the 16GB it's a no brainer.
I've watched every nexus 7 unboxing vid as I wait for mine to arrive. Apparently, android nerds aren't allowed to carry knifes.
I live in Egypt will I be able to buy books,on nexus 7 because it doesn't let me for now
it is a huge mach actualy, but yet the ipad has a much bigger screen, and that is a big advantage
I'm watching this to my Nexus 7
My mom just said why do you keep looking at videos Of that Big phone lmaoo
I've got an iPad should I get this
Please don't diss the Tegra 3 because it is Android's doing in bringing it down. Tegra 3 is a great SOC when software is optimized for it.
As always, good vid! But ist an unboxing video so unbox the content.. all of it. not just the tablet.
does it really matter what color you get anything in, your not buying products to make the world happy your buying it to make yourself happy.
That's basicly a steal for 200 bucks!
Thinking of replacing my iPod with this... should I?
I like very, very much Apple, but their prices are too big. It's a better deal to buy a Nexus 7.
Depends what iPod...
Don't blame the chip for HTC's overlay
box opens at 2:12
