- In this video, I've comprehensively captured and documented every stage of meticulously restoring an authentic stone fireplace, from inception to completion. This project, characterized by unwavering patience and dedication, aimed to restore it to its original glory using the very same local stone that built my cabin.
Working with this local stone was a return to the essence of my craft, and each phase was approached with meticulous attention to detail, adhering to time-honored techniques. The end result is a genuine masterpiece of restoration that I'm eager to share with you.
In my next video, releasing next week, expect fresh updates on site, focusing on floor construction and the renovation of a cabin section where I spend my nights in the forest.

It is so relaxing to watch you meticulousy choose each stone and apply it to the structure. The finished product is so beautiful, and I really love the mantle. I find stone to be such a beautiful and pleasing material and combined with the bronze plates, it really highlihgts the colours in the stone. It is so wonderful to see someone so absorbed in creataing something both practical AND aesthetic. I really love the connection you weave between your culture, history, context, environment. It just feels that you so "belong" in your space...I dont knw what I mean, but there is just a naturalness and real love in the way you interact with your land and cabin as though you have always been there and owned it forever. It is a beautiful project.

Hi Aaron, welcome to the channel. I've utilized both types of materials: mortar for the base stones and the larger ones in front of the fireplace, while I've employed cement to build up the two stone columns. There's still some finishing work left to be done, but despite the temperature fluctuations, I've observed that everything has held up well 👍
