Really like my Revo! Similar impressions to yours as I really enjoy how easily it paddles and catches waves, yet still turns well enough to be fun. It isn’t quite a groveler like the Evo and it isn’t as high performance as high performance short board so you have to appreciate the niche where it shines.
I have a 5'7", liked it so much I got a 5'6" too because they were on sale. Riding the same quad set up. 2+1 endorfins work fun too. Catches waves easy, maybe easier than the machadocado, but fast and loose. Both fun boards!
Yes it seems like the shops can't get rid of them, I definitely was tempted to buy another one too because they are so cheap. Now I have got some fitness back I agree it is a good paddler and was catching waves as well as my Cado which has nearly a litre more volume.🤙
@surfingtipsandtricks same on oahu. I got the revo x2 on sale right when they dropped. Maybe its the cut off nose look...mine have started oxidizing a slight red tinge, even in the board bag and out of the sun. I've been told the factory works near a auto body shop and that's all iron particles in the glass. They supposedly have that fixed.
I also have same 5’7”, 61 years old (50 of em surfing), 150 lbs and fairly fit. Got this instead of the Cymatic, as it seemed a better growler. Haven’t ridden it yet, but was glad to find your video, and seeing how well it went. Still want the Cymatic, especially when they’re on sale at times. 🤙🙏🙏🙏😊
@ I haven't tried the Cymatic, but I have heard many good things about it! I am a 171, and I think it's a bit thin for me; you have better sizing. It will be a great paddler, and I think it will go in many different conditions for you and grovel well. Things have changed a lot. I started in the summer of 75. We were lucky to have all those uncrowded waves back in the day, I travelled quite a bit, but I wish I had done more, especially to places like Indonesia ( empty) 🙏🤙
I have a 5’7” Revo at 150lbs and as a lower intermediate surfer I found it really easy getting into waves and it’s easy to maneuver. I had 175lb rippers try it in El Salvador and they said it’s a sick board! He was going full roundhouse cutbacks on it no problem. How would you compare it to your Evo?
Stoked you like it! El Salvador, 🙌 nice how was that trip? I think the Evo has similarities, but it's different, too. If I had got the 5’8" with more volume, it may have been a closer match. But I would be disappointed if it surfed exactly the same. I still haven't had that many sessions on it.😀🤙
Super fun! Water temp was 87F. Really nice paddling and duck diving when I can actually feel the water. There’s localism at Punta Roca but it’s an amazing wave - better than Lowers trestles imo except no lefts.
Love my revo and found it interesting from the intro that you didn't enjoy the machadocardo in small surf. I use my revo for everything from grovel to better waves and always wonder if I should get a dedicated short grovler. Or .. just get a revo max, so I will wait to see what you think. If you could find a fatter wave for one of the revo max sessions that would be useful as this is usually what I think hmm could do with a grovler for but in reality I think the extra length and hopefully glide of the max might be more useful. Lastly excellent surfing 🤙🏼
The Cado does go in small waves, but I had a surf on it on Saturday, and it wasnt holding in off the top. I think I have gotten used to the F1 trailer fin, and I need to put Rob's bigger trailer back in. But I have had my best surfs on it in chunkier conditions. Hopefully, I will be surfing the Revo Max in many different conditions. I got it because I think it will benefit me in the bigger winter conditions and be a better paddler. I don't have massive expectations for it being a groveler, but lets see. Travis was surfing it really good in small waves!🤙 thank you🙏
Hello, first of all thank you for the effort of putting those reviews out there, really enjoyed watching some of them. and since you have tried the revo and the cado, I have a question please, I am getting lost on what to choose, between those two, I found a revo for less then 600 e, but I am more tempted by the cado... I surf generally a 2-4 feet beach break sometimes a little bit more. or maybe stick to the hypto i am used to and get me a smaller size?
Thank You 🙏They are very different boards. The Cado has a more twin-fin fish feel but will still do off-the-tops and sharper turns; it's a lot of fun. It also goes really well in powerful and head-high waves and above. The Revo feels more like a high-performance shortboard but is easy to generate speed, fast and loose; if you want it to go even better in small waves, go up some litres, which only affects performance a little. I haven't ridden the Hypto, but I know it will go in big and small waves. It is a little tight through turns in smaller conditions because of the rounded pin when on your back foot? It's hard to pick. They are both great boards; what do you want from the board? What type of turns?
Ripping that thing mate - beautiful board and would love to have a go on one sometime. Stoked you got the Max coming..I think it'll grovel a bit better and the twin will keep it loose still. Love the Revo Max cause it paddle's awesome (prob better than these two smaller ones). But I've yet to ride them so just guessing.
Cheers, Travis. Yes, I am looking forward to trying it out after watching you surf it👌 I am excited for some easy paddling for sure, really gets my Lower back and neck surfing 5’6” boards at nearly 56, 🤣🤣 🤙 I remember surfing 6’4” as a short board and now a 6’3” is a midlength/step up.😀
@ haha yes the surfers neck forced me as well to ‘go up’ in length years ago - never looked back. Gosh you surf like a 25 year old - reckon you and Thomye Surfs are my role models. I just love having board under my chest for paddling right. I’m honored I was even a slight inspiration for you to get a Max and eagerly awaiting footy of you shredding it.
@@TravisVarga Thanks, Travis🙏🙏 I have been trying to fight against going longer and thicker. I even went down in Litres for the Revo, which was a little dumb, on reflection. But now Tomo has brought out an option; it would be rude not to give it a try🤣 Your ripping! 🤙
Revo catches waves easy and is super fast but for an intermediate surfer I’ve felt that it sometimes would catch me by surprise with a sudden squirt of speed or a bit of extra twitchiness. Got to be surfed on rail as it can feel weird going over a flat section and then back on rail again. I’ve got a 5’8 you can have a go on if you like. I live SW Portugal.
Yes I agree, when I surfed it in bigger waves its hard to get used to those squirts of speed for sure. I surfed the Evo for years so I had a bit of training, the spine defiantly makes it a little unpredictable. Yes you do have to keep it on rail. I kind of wished I had got the 5’8” its 33L. Yeah I would love to try it sometime thanks for the offer and your comment 🙏🤙
I snapped one of those same fins the other day, shame you can't buy a 1 off. I actually prefer the Revo as a thuster with the smaller center fin. I brought it becuase I had an Omni which was the easyest board to surf ever.
I have only had one surf with a small trailer, and the conditions weren't great. It felt a bit weird, so I need to experiment more with it. I prefer the Evo as a 3 fin🤙
I always find the GoPro surf vides a bit disappointing because I just can't connect with the visuals. But I appreciate the effort and stoked that you like the board.
Nicky can't film all the time as she has other commitments. Yes, I know what you mean, and I am with you; I don't love action camera footage, but my son really likes it. I think it looks okay. I used a mouth mount after your last comment about the angle. Which was something I never thought I would do, considering my age🤣 I will be putting out some content with the go3, but I think it's pretty apparent that it's action camera footage from the thumbnail.🙏🤙
