Those are called Sleepers. They're often slightly curved to absorb the stress. If it is not curved, then the sleepers would have a higher probability of breaking under stress. The stress dampening capacity will be reduced.

I don't see anybody hammering in clamps to hold the track onto the sleeper. And the NTC machine is running over it!!! What would happen if the track bends over or slips?
I saw one guy doing that... I think they do all that after machine passes by. That just can't be left as it is. And I don't think in billion dollars project such big things can be ignored.
Phenku Singh ji, it replaces more than 500 workers. And the uniformity in work is very important. Doing a work of more than 750km with such machines it is very difficulty if not impossible
