I saw that before I found this wonderful franchise. I started in summer this year with X1 then X and just finished X2. Did the reviewer say 70 hours? I'm 250 hours only just finished first play lol. That's what I call value for money. Playing Torna DLC now
Elli that's fine if this was a TH-camr. But GameSpot, IGN and everyone in between portray themselves as professionals. You'd expect better care to be put into their reviews.
Nadeem Motala too bad for u he actually played a lot. Even reviewed xeno x. Oh he also reviewed I am setsuna, disgaea 5, danganronpa, gravity rush 1&2, yakuza etc. Well he plays a lot of japanese games. But nintendo fans will need to defend their masters I guess.
Elli As I said. He played them, because it's his JOB and he's FORCED TO. But he doesn't LIKE JRPG's. That's the difference. Stop assuming that everyone's a "fanboy" just because they like a Nintendo game
Zelda and Mario were pretty much the only 2 main games for the Switch and the rest didn't really seem to stand out that much but were still good. I would say PlayStation had far more to offer with its variety of many exclusives this year. So in other words PlayStation AND Nintendo have been killing it this year.
True, this review seems so rushed & not even technical. Framedrops when too many characters, short explanation of intricate battle system & story. I don't even know what to expect from this game by the reviewer. This is like first-impression, not review.
In BOTW you don’t actually have to reach that destination to progress the story. The only place you HAVE to go to is hyrule castle which is easy to spot.
I think the complain was that in this game the markers on the 2D map constantly are not enough to point out where the stuff is located because the verticality. In Zelda the few markers are not ambiguous and if you manually add a marker, you already know where is pointing out.
The level design in Xenoblade can get messy. BotW never had portion of maps on 3 or more different levels. I play without minimap. It took me 6 hours only to explore the first major area with how convoluted it can get It's absolutely fine but more difficult than BotW for sure.
91Pulp Breath of The Wild was actually much better designed on that front. There was very little difficulty finding a place to go because of the variation of travel you have in the game. Climb walls, snowboard down, glide down, etc. That is what keeps Breath of The Wild's massive world from being tedious to actually explore. More open world games should learn from this. Bigger isn't necessarily better but done right it can be great.

Bought it last week and just finished it. The story after chapter 5 went full throttle and the ending made me tear up. That’s not a phrase or something I do often, or at all. The ending was so emotional and the fact that you know why each character acted the way they did because you played as them was deep. I’ll be continuing the game getting all the blades and super bosses before starting new game +. I thought it would be cliched but it’s so worth the money.
This is the best year exclusive-wise for Nintendo in a very long time. The amount of amazing games we got for Switch this year is mind-blowing. I have bought a total of 22 games for the Nintendo Switch and my wishlist could bring that number up to 40-50 games. The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey brought something new and amazing to franchises that have been getting games since 1985 which is incredible. Although Nier, Horizon Zero Dawn and Persona 5 were all outstanding in MY opinion there is no touching these two masterpieces when it comes to choosing GOTY (personally I would choose Odyssey but they are both so great that I wouldn't really mind if Zelda won, which is the most probable thing to happen. Splatoon 2, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, ARMS and Mario & Rabbids Kingdom Battle are all great games. And thinking about it the only mistake made by Nintendo was releasing Metroid Samus Returns ONLY on 3DS as well as Mario Party Top 100. IF we would've gotten both of those games it could have been even MORE impressive than it already is. ( and of course 1-2 Switch should've been bundled ). 2017 might be the best year in Nintendo's history.
Games & Games PT I know it's *your* opinion and all but saying "Nier, HZD and Persona 5 don't come close to Zelda and Mario" is really being bias and is pretty much a typical thing of a hardcore Nintendo fan to say because those 2 games are basically the bread and butter of Nintnedo and I know if I say something bad about them I will get attacked by Nintendo fans lol. Again I know it's YOUR opinion but those 3 PlayStation Exclusives have definitely more than proven that they're GOTY worthy.
Arnez Juggins I respectfully disagree. Exclusives wise PS had the best year. It had : Persona 5, Nioh, Nier Automata, Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza 0, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Horizon Zero Dawn To name a few. All of which r excellent.
Nate Johnson yeah i haven't played allot of it maybe for a few hours of it i fell asleep last night so i am really trying to see where this game takes me
conn1239 The Xenoblade Chronicles series is great. It's Nintendo's Final Fantasy after they lost FF in N64 days lol but if you have a Wii or Wii U I say get the first game or X both or fun games. Chronicles 1 is getting up there in price so look around for a deal if you can.

Bad timing or poor use of skills can kill you quick.
conn1239 if performance is something that matters, it’s a mixed bag. At times, it dips to 360p 20fps due to the switch’s limitations (handheld) docked mode is somewhat better but still doesnt run so great.

the problem isnt that they throw it in. its that they make you believe that they are optional until chapter 8. i had sent all my good blades out on missions had to wait for them to come back to finish the level. no big deal, but kinda threw me off. especially since i completed the skill maps for my favorite blades and not diverse ones

Kevin Ramirez : That's pretty good for this type of game. They can be rather a lot to take in for the average gamer so they often attract 7.5/8 level scores. Unless of course they are on Sonys platform then they get 10/10s even when broken choose your own adventure movies.
Thank you very helpful, but you forgot the pitiful Gamespot score of 7/10. That is the lowest score for this game so far, which reminds me of Botw's lowest score of 7/10 as well.
Wilkwolf : 7/10 is a damn good score from a person who generally doesn't like these types of games. I wish people would quit with only people who love this genre should review these games. People ever considered that others who like similar games to that reviewer wanted to hear an opinion that would reflect their taste in games?
OTPulse Then it would be skewed. Imagine getting people who dislike racing games to review them. They'd possibly dock points for elements that make racing games good. It would inadvertedly push for the casualisation of games, aiming for the lowest common denominator instead of pushing their respective genre to the max.
I've only just got a Switch so I'm new to everything. Played BotW (still plenty to do on it), playing Pokémon Shield, just got Mario Odyssey and think I'll get this. Having all these games to play and explore is such a treat. I'm having so much fun with all these amazing titles I've been missing out on.
I feel that this Xenoblade is better than the first. More vocal tracks, more beautiful landscapes, a jaw dropping story, and extremely refined gameplay. The ending blew my mind and the production value is worth every penny. It's as good as Odyssey and even better than BOTW in my opinion.
Just got XC2 2 hours ago, Im 1 hour in and made it to this flying harbour and just met my new team with this little girl, the tiger and those 2 dope fighters. Holy crap the music, the graphic style, the presentation, the combat ( ye Ive only done one fight so far lol, but still ) etc. are pretty amazing. Ye, I know Im only 1 hour in, but I got a feeling this game is gonna be amazing and prob. one of these few games that can actually be on the same overall experience lvl of a FF7 or Shenmue. Most of the time I just walked around on this flying harbour looking at things,
“It doesn’t automatically open the map for the zone you’re in.” X.... is the X button that does that. Fun fact, the Minus button actually takes you straight to the Save/Time/Option menu
First and foremost, this game is awesome, just get it and play it. As far as the review go personally I think that it's actually the mark of a great open world game if you need to think a little while traveling from point A to B. That the game is not just one big flat surface is great, it's sort of like in real life where you need to get familiar with the terrain, the strength of enemies in different regions etc to know where you can go and where you can't go. And I don't really think that it's a bad thing that the game encourage/teaches you to use the in game mechanics.
the guy who reviewed the game for Gamespot never completed an RPG It makes no sense to put someone like that playing a game like this. Just plain stupid Really happy this got a great score really happy to get this
honestly this game is a 9/10 or even 9.5/10 this is a must have on the Nintendo switch. to be honest the only thing I didn't like about this it was the graphics at first but then you get use it. so yeah this is 100% must buy. and the dlc too
That wasn't a thing back when the game launched. They did several patches which fixed a ton of bugs and added quality of life features like the one you mentioned.
I love how big this game is, *but I'm low-key intimidated* Like i love it so far, but I'm so busy and I'm not sure if I have time and patience to beat it- *any tips?*
Peh youtube has had more and more unskippable ads and IGN lately has produced these duschie ‘troll ads’ where it looks like your video has started but wait! It’s an ad. I’m on the verge of unsubbing.
wait a minute IGN not only gave what im assuming is a fair review but its under 5 minutes, havent watched the channel in a long time due to all the bias they used to have but this review might get me watching again
why did you mention that you don't need to play xenobalde one to understand the story of 2? They're directly linked and related and shulk even appears (kinda) in the final chapter
Because you don't. Those who have played the first game may see the connections to the first game, but it's not essential to understand the core story of the second game. I, for one haven't played the first game so I don't even realize the connection other than hearing shulks voice actor once in the final chapter of xenoblade 2. So no, you don't need to play the first game to undertand the second game's story. Now that the definitive edition is coming out, it would propably be recommended to start with that but I digress.
If you have never played DQ8 I would recommend it because it's my favorite game ever so I'm biased. But I am 2/half hours in X2 and it has been fun so far.
dragonquest 8 is a great game i only brought it for the 3ds cus i was a fan of the ps2 game i hoping it be on ps4 soon and i looking for a decent rpg game for the switch so i might buy xenoblade chronicles 2 buy both if you have enough you bound to get DQ 8 cheap 2nd hand it been out a while
One of the best reviews for this game out there. Only problem is the small team spoiler, but it was kinda obvious from the way the character in question acts.
They’d prefer to snack on your wallet! But you’re right. I have to get this game with birthday money because I’m broke. EDIT: I couldn’t resist! I bought it with the last few quarters left!
i feel like this game was underrated... i mean its fking awesome. i am at 78 hours on it and i am around half of the game. so idk why people don't like the game, they a least should give it a try. its awesome, this game should on the top games like Zelda breath of the wild and Mario odyssey.
The combat is not for anyone younger than 11. I’m twelve and it took about an hour for me to find out how to execute stage 3 blade combos in order to increase the length of my chain attack.
I might be showing my age a bit here, but this game reminds me of an anime I watched ages ago called Elemental Gelade, which was an anime about a sky pirate boy who finds a girl in a sort of coffin thing during a heist and forges a bond with her that transforms her into a sword... And he has to bring her back home, to a place people think is just a legend...
Would anybody recommend this game for somebody who has played only a bare minimum of JRPG's? I really want to get into the genre and I hope this game could do that for me. Also, bare in mind I have never played the original Xenoblade. Do I need to ? Thanks for any opinions.
Daniel Ismay you don't need to play other XB games but there are references. Also, this game is very very very deep. Looks simple at first but don't let that fool you. Also, the story is great. The review said 70 hours but you can EEEEASILY spend hundreds if not countless hours in this game. It's just insane.
Picked this up as my second ever JRPG after Persona 4. Although I feel it lacks in story and characters compared that game, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was still a fantastic experience.
Tye the Monado Boy ah, I see you made an immature assuption about me. I beat the game 3 weeks ago, and I can say some voices got a bit better but some still took a nosedive.
it's so weird to see all that marketing/video/ads for Xenoblade I mean Almost everyone ignored Xeno 1 and Xeno X and then... I'm happy to see that this franchise will be well known now, it really deserves it
@WarnerAnime 020 Cheers mate, the first one still is open world right? The thing that attracted me to Xenoblade 2 was it looked like it had some really beautiful open world to explore...
Unfortunately, IGN disagrees with you. While they gave the original a 9.0, Xenoblade 2 an 8.5, they recently reviewed Xenoblade 1 Definitive Edition and it was given an 8.0. This means that some could interpret that Xenoblade 2 is better than Xenoblade 1. I understand they used different reviewers but still.
If it wasn’t for that random side quest called “Xenoblade Chronicles 2” in Breath Of The Wild, I wouldn’t have ended up buying this wonderful game. I don’t know how I would’ve lived 😅

Nuttypaulc123 atleast cuphead made up for that.
Twon Games No it doesn't lol and it's on PC as well. An indie/platform game doesn't make up for the lack of games Xbox has this whole generation.
Dbzfan 01 I love how the same people that say "you can just play it on pc" are the same people that beg for the game to come out on the ps4.
GameXplain's review on this is way more in depth than Gamespot and IGN's combined.
GameXplain also is known to drag things out for the sake of length.
Phantom42 Nope
Too bad I don't give a crap about GameComplain.
Phantom42 might as well have spoiled it if its gonna be 25 minutes. nevermind them finding the time to start streaming the game like they did with 1.

1: Gamespot spent 50 hours on this game
2: IGN and Gamexplain spent 70 and 90 hours respectively
3: Nintendo representatives have stated this game has a similar length to Xenoblade Chronicles 1
4: Xenoblade Chronicles was around 70 hours long
5 :Gamespot gave the lowest score of the 3

so relieved to find a good reviewer covering this. great job, wasnt expecting a serious review from ign.
That multi-hour progression road block can be totally negated if you don't rush the game for review, Mr. Reviewer 😉😉
Facts
It took me two years to finish the first one. I don't know how but it did...
the problem isnt that they throw it in. its that they make you believe that they are optional until chapter 8. i had sent all my good blades out on missions had to wait for them to come back to finish the level. no big deal, but kinda threw me off. especially since i completed the skill maps for my favorite blades and not diverse ones
So Xenoblade Chronicles 2 gets a 8.5 but Evolve can get a 9???
xXMrJacksonXx different reviewer
Average Joe ik. I just can let that go . And plus the guy who reviewed it got fired from IGN
Yes even Tales of Berseria that is just an ok game and the same genre had 8.9.
evolve is better than this weabo game
nvidia GTX1080 You keep telling yourself that XD
After careful reviewing. I have incurred that pyra is not wearing pants. That's hilarious
Vernon Benton after careful reviewing nuts have been busted
Vernon Benton she's wearing shorts
djheroxt I don't think so... But it's cool. There's a couple blades without pants.
Vernon Benton lmao how absurd. Could hardly believe my eyes when I checked myself.

Kevin Ramirez : That's pretty good for this type of game. They can be rather a lot to take in for the average gamer so they often attract 7.5/8 level scores. Unless of course they are on Sonys platform then they get 10/10s even when broken choose your own adventure movies.
Thanks for the amazing review round-up!
OTPulse
Then it would be skewed. Imagine getting people who dislike racing games to review them. They'd possibly dock points for elements that make racing games good.
It would inadvertedly push for the casualisation of games, aiming for the lowest common denominator instead of pushing their respective genre to the max.
Who’s here after igns horrendous review of xenoblade definitive edition
Everyone
Yeah that basically everyone
me
Mac Hodgdon yup
Rain and Dunbon are my favorite characters.
Nintendo made one hell of a lineup for the Switch in its first year
Hi! I'm from 3 years in the future. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Lmao ^
8.5 you’re welcome
Is this another ign meme or something?
Landon Smith Numbers are too vague my interest depends on the words im hearing
Why would you want to be spoiled?
90% of its score is because of pyra's lol
I didn't want you to spoil it
I've only just got a Switch so I'm new to everything.
8.5
That’s right
Yoooooo what’s up?
@@Roaddogg88 cuz on their rating scale, 9+ are considered masterpieces

Just got XC2 2 hours ago, Im 1 hour in and made it to this flying harbour and just met my new team with this little girl, the tiger and those 2 dope fighters.
Holy crap the music, the graphic style, the presentation, the combat ( ye Ive only done one fight so far lol, but still ) etc. are pretty amazing.
Ye, I know Im only 1 hour in, but I got a feeling this game is gonna be amazing and prob. one of these few games that can actually be on the same overall experience lvl of a FF7 or Shenmue.
Most of the time I just walked around on this flying harbour looking at things,
Sounds great! Also excited for the new rare blade they revealed today:
SPOILER -
KOS-MOS from Xenosaga!!!!!
That wasn't kosmos lol, but certainly kosmos inspired =P
Simon James Really? Which generation?
Trakker1985 Don't forget that Elma was _inspired_ by T-Elos in XenoX
Inspired is still nice!!!
Simon James
Let's just hope it's a reference and not making both series canon to each other or I'll need to buy all the XenoSaga games...
“It doesn’t automatically open the map for the zone you’re in.” X.... is the X button that does that. Fun fact, the Minus button actually takes you straight to the Save/Time/Option menu
This game was damned amazing! Can’t wait for the final story DLC to arrive. I had so much fun in Alrest.
8.5/10? Well i give it 10/10
First and foremost, this game is awesome, just get it and play it.
Ah IGN actually does a good review with understandable points and a conclusion that makes sense. Great job!
Gamespot 7, IGN 8.5, IGN wins.
Xin Peng No
the guy who reviewed the game for Gamespot never completed an RPG
It makes no sense to put someone like that playing a game like this. Just plain stupid
Really happy this got a great score really happy to get this
The game deserves a 4.
President C4 you haven’t even played it lmao
TS040Hybrid Ive had the game for almost 3 weeks. Beat it 2 days ago. It's a solid 4. Maybe a 4.5 because the music is very good.
Finally a review that actually expresses an opinion rather than merely repeating what's on the back of the box.
honestly this game is a 9/10 or even 9.5/10 this is a must have on the Nintendo switch. to be honest the only thing I didn't like about this it was the graphics at first but then you get use it. so yeah this is 100% must buy. and the dlc too
Kevin Hernandez who idea it was to make it cartoony

I can't wait to pick up my special edition tomorrow.
maxsonly you like it?
If you control the most powerful blade, why do you need those random ones?
It's a video game. Making sense is optional.

2:05 have you tried pressing x while in the overworld?
That wasn't a thing back when the game launched. They did several patches which fixed a ton of bugs and added quality of life features like the one you mentioned.
I love how big this game is, *but I'm low-key intimidated*
Like i love it so far, but I'm so busy and I'm not sure if I have time and patience to beat it-
*any tips?*
What is the name of the music track in the first minutes? It's beautiful!
It´s a great Score for a JRPG. For Fans it´s a Must Buy. :)
Now you see... NO NINTENDO EXCLUSIVE Bonus on IGN. ;)
what is the background music ?
Can't skip Battlefront 2 ad...wth?
Peh youtube has had more and more unskippable ads and IGN lately has produced these duschie ‘troll ads’ where it looks like your video has started but wait! It’s an ad. I’m on the verge of unsubbing.
No ad here but I own bf2
wait a minute IGN not only gave what im assuming is a fair review but its under 5 minutes, havent watched the channel in a long time due to all the bias they used to have but this review might get me watching again
Never played Xenoblades but will def get it soon after that Smash reveal.
You can press the L Stick in for a larger map, and the up and down arrows show the floor you need to be on
why did you mention that you don't need to play xenobalde one to understand the story of 2? They're directly linked and related and shulk even appears (kinda) in the final chapter
Because you don't. Those who have played the first game may see the connections to the first game, but it's not essential to understand the core story of the second game. I, for one haven't played the first game so I don't even realize the connection other than hearing shulks voice actor once in the final chapter of xenoblade 2. So no, you don't need to play the first game to undertand the second game's story. Now that the definitive edition is coming out, it would propably be recommended to start with that but I digress.
That audio was your fault with the 5 sec. late. I've played it all in docked mode and I never noticed this happen to me.
Gamespot’s shitty review brought me here.
This game made me fall in love with JRPGs.
Did...they just watch the Gamespot review and say the opposite of everything...?
Nah, IGN chose a reviewer who is much more similar to this game’s target market: people who actually like JRPGs
Can enemies still hit you when you're running away and nowhere near them?
yeah.. but usually what you would do is get your other party members to be targeted via aggro which is a normal part of the battle strategy anyway.
" the few charactes with 3d models" uh... looks like every single character is a 3d model dude..
Please, what's the song from the start of the video?
*NOW THIS TRULY MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE AN ACTUAL XENOBLADE*
This comment truly makes you *feel* like you are an IGN reporter
A protagonist with a badass looking sword or saber without a single good sword style attack ‘1.5’...Pyra’s sweet Giggity ‘9.5’
Help me decide.
Which should i buy,
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 or Dragon Quest 8 3DS?
Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
nicememe.jpg- You better wait for Dragon Quest 11 for western release.
If you have never played DQ8 I would recommend it because it's my favorite game ever so I'm biased. But I am 2/half hours in X2 and it has been fun so far.
dragonquest 8 is a great game i only brought it for the 3ds cus i was a fan of the ps2 game i hoping it be on ps4 soon
and i looking for a decent rpg game for the switch so i might buy xenoblade chronicles 2 buy both if you have enough you bound to get DQ 8 cheap 2nd hand it been out a while
Okay thanks for the answers guys. I think ill grab xenoblade instead, and get dq 11's western release next year.
One of the best reviews for this game out there. Only problem is the small team spoiler, but it was kinda obvious from the way the character in question acts.
I'm trying to be excited but I'm just burnt out on all these massive openworld/rpgs this year
My friend, Zakir Stocks, has gotten the Limited Edition package of this game from Amazon! He's also got the XB2 Controller for this game, too!
Who’s here after pyra is in smash
Will the dual audio be available for more than 1 day?
Nintendo stop releasing games so much I’m broke .-.
NinFever same, i still cant play mario
Lol
Tell me about it!
They’d prefer to snack on your wallet! But you’re right. I have to get this game with birthday money because I’m broke. EDIT: I couldn’t resist! I bought it with the last few quarters left!
I barely managed to get XC2 Odyssey and US
Can you change costumes or armor and you can see it?
You got this one right, so what happened to the definitive edition review?!

Picking me special edition up tomorrow! I seriously can’t wait for this
i feel like this game was underrated... i mean its fking awesome. i am at 78 hours on it and i am around half of the game. so idk why people don't like the game, they a least should give it a try. its awesome, this game should on the top games like Zelda breath of the wild and Mario odyssey.
Good review cant wait to pick this up tomorrow
this game is absolutely gorgeous
The combat is not for anyone younger than 11. I’m twelve and it took about an hour for me to find out how to execute stage 3 blade combos in order to increase the length of my chain attack.
70 hours? Much more play time here...
This game is better than Super Mario Odyssey
Simple question: Do party members change appearance depending on what they wear?
No, but there's alternate costumes from a DLC Coluseum-like event.
Apolonioman thanks for the reply. I will probably pick this game up after I bought Octopath Traveller
The gameplay is solid but the story just like typical anime shoen tropes
Picked this up as my second ever JRPG after Persona 4. Although I feel it lacks in story and characters compared that game, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was still a fantastic experience.
They lost me at "excellent english language voice acting"
tmw it is actually excellent
Its actually quite good though.
Not really, I had to turn off the English when I heard Rex scream while he was charging at Malos.
Ah, I see you barely made it anywhere in the game before passing a judgement. bit premature I think.
Tye the Monado Boy ah, I see you made an immature assuption about me. I beat the game 3 weeks ago, and I can say some voices got a bit better but some still took a nosedive.
It does open the map automatically in the zone you're in if you press the X button.
There were numerous post-release patches and adjustments made, I believe this was one of them.
7.8/10
Too much xenoblade
it's so weird to see all that marketing/video/ads for Xenoblade
I mean
Almost everyone ignored Xeno 1 and Xeno X and then... I'm happy to see that this franchise will be well known now, it really deserves it
The graphics are amazing
Question, should I get Xenoblade 2 or wait for xenoblade chronicles deifinitive edition at the end of the month? Which one is better?
@WarnerAnime 020 Cheers mate, the first one still is open world right? The thing that attracted me to Xenoblade 2 was it looked like it had some really beautiful open world to explore...
Unfortunately, IGN disagrees with you. While they gave the original a 9.0, Xenoblade 2 an 8.5, they recently reviewed Xenoblade 1 Definitive Edition and it was given an 8.0. This means that some could interpret that Xenoblade 2 is better than Xenoblade 1. I understand they used different reviewers but still.
this game is more than 8.5 just saying. Nice music as well
Do I have to play the first one in order to understand the sequel? Or is it anew story?
Everyone says you can jump into it without playing the older games.
I really really love this game
With Xenoblade Chronicles 3 having a fantastic handheld performance, I'm quite hesistant in going back to 2, haven't finished it yet
