I'm not really a diehard fan of DCU and at first I thought Steppenwolf was Darkseid at the beginning. The end where it said ‘For autumn’ really made me sentimental. The whole reason Snyder cut didn’t come first was because his daughter had committed suicide, which was an absolute tragedy. But seeing him pull a movie like this off and ending it with a commemoration really hit me in the feels
@@ericchoi1515 Thats not the problem here. WB gave Snyder sometime to stick with his family for a while after the tragedy. So Snyder delayed the movie so he could come back and finish the whole thing and release it after sometime. But WB secretly fired Zack Snyder in the middle of his movie even without telling him a single word about it, and while Snyder was dealing with Autumn's death, WB hired Joss Whedon to finish the movie because WB didnt wanted to delay the movie because they wanted profit of it so fast. When Zack came back to finish the movie, WB acted like they never even seen him for their entire lives, and told him to take his laptop and leave for absolutely zero reasons, while Joss Whedon spent more millions of dollars for completely unnecessary reshoots. Even Flash’s awkward running is realized better here. The reason he has those stance was to get an effect of "too fast to see" motion and make it almost still but infinitely fast that you can only see the awkward changes. And it also gives a good visual of Flash, swimming through the speedforce and struggling the more he taps into it.
im glad as well that other people caught this. the faster he goes, the more struggled/slower he looks while running. it makes sense the most visually when he had to get all that speed again when he lost it from that parademon cannon shot and had to heal. showed that hes already at the speed of light right on that takeoff.
Exactly. On top of that, didn't the Snyder Flash only became The Flash recently? That can also explain why he doesn't have a good form yet since he's still trying to grasp it.
Darkseid when he first appeared in the movie was not actually darkseid yet. He was uxas. He didnt have his powers at that time. So it is understandable that he was beaten by like actual gods.
It doesn't matter. If you do not explain the context of what is going on either in a previous installment of a series or within the film itself then it does not count. Nobody knows anything about Darkseids story. This is like writing 101.

Darkseid did get beat yes, but he wasn’t Darkseid yet and he fought literally gods, Zeus, Ares, Artemis, green lantern and 3 armies, he didn’t have his zig zag lasers and godlike armor then
I love how they emphasized Superman's strength, let alone his presence, as a deterrent for the mother boxes. But at the same time, they made the team feel more formidable against Steppenwolf this time, even without relying on Superman
In defense of The Office, every episode is interesting and you don't get tired from, and aside from that you can just stop on an episode and continue another day, meanwhile for Justice you can't just stop at some part specifically without asking yourself what happens next
Yeah, I felt that that scene transmitted her speed accurately, she´s the most powerful one in the Justice League after all, and making grunts fly like helium baloons showed her actual strength, I was very happy with that scene, prefered it over any goofy slow motion scene. If you think about it, blocking bullets from a machine gun in real time will look like a video game glitch, I'm not even sure our brain could process that.
@@ShivamPatel-yq7rr Have you seen what gorillas can do with humans? Now imagine someone with the strength of a million gotillas, and that is just lowballing her...
I thought Zack Snyder showed Wonder Woman’s strength very well when we first see her. Just like in Man of Steel when she punched people you feel it, and her blocking those bullets was awesome (in my opinion)
I agree with you however the way her movements were captured were just very awkward, the scene itself is really cool and I overlooked how blocky it was, but if you rewatch the scene, the way she moves is very uncomfortable to watch.
The big positive of the massive run time is that they nicely cut it into tv episode length parts. You get a nice little miniseries if you don't want to watch the full 4 hours
It was actually originally supposed to be released on HBO Max as a weekly 6 episodes show. Snyder would have filmed some extra footage to stretch it out a bit but releasing it as a mini-series would have meant having to renegotiate contracts which is complicated.

uxas' appearance changed from just being grey to that of stone when he got the omega force, there wasn't any visual change in the movie, how do you explain that , Its either it was a young Darkseid or Snyder forgot how shit should work
@Pranav M they actually kinda do address it, but I don't blame you missing it. Desaad or steppen drops a line that Darkseid lost on earth BEFORE he became ruler of Apokalips, and there is a clear difference, Darkseid in the flashback literally has no chest armor.
@@donashe1830 I guess he also had the weapon as uxas, its kinda hard to show in a film, the only way is by calling him uxas in the flashback but that would have created more confusion when darkseid arrives, I believe there was going to be a new gods film so maybe that would have had a bit of backstory in, maybe we would have had backstory in jl2, who knows?

Cutting the film into chapters really helped. Not everyone wants to sit through a 4 hour film and seeing a title card for a chapter really helps people to take a break.
It feels like the reception and success of this movie will hopefully lead to studios trusting filimmakers and letting them do what they want in terms of weird shit and runtime.
I think it's more of a visual storytelling gripe. Could even be fixed by larger differences in the character design of young Darkseid to modern day Darkseid. Show he's intimidating when he's young, show he's terrifying when he's older.
And for some reason he didn't feel the need to use his Omega beams, until a later scene where he kills an Atlantean. How strong was that one random guy, that Darkseid had to use a power that he didn't bother activating during a battle with earth's mightiest defenders?
Only complaint is they use his uxus name for when he was technically weaker because he didn't have his omega beams. If they did It would have explain why they got so lucky as to have beaten him, but if he makes JL 2 i could see him explaining why Darkseid didn't attack earlier

I am proof of this concept. I binge watch shows for hours and hours straight literally over 12 a few times (depression) but I saw Justice League was 4 hours long and I was like WTF!.. BUT I think its only because movies in general have a similar runtime (90-120mins) that we are used to, seeing something that long is mind boggling a bit for everyone. I also 100percent disagree with the people who said they should've split it into 2 parts, that would've sucked so hard, so no lol (It- meaning Justice League)
My reasoning has been the following: I'm committing four hours to this piece, it better be something. Like for real, BE something. A 4 hour feature length is what we commit to award winning mafia movies, not fuckin Zack Snyder DC superhero flicks. I heard the irishmen was like 3, 4 hours? Ok. That's a mafia movie with an all-star cast and acredited director. Oh, Zack Snyder wants to remake justice league, one of the worst DC films ever, in a doomed franchise? He wants to make it four hours long? Steppenwolf looks like a resident evil villain for the ps3?
@@justincruz8050 understood. But I’m sure you’ve dedicated at least 4 hours to a less than all star cast. Have you ever watched superhero tv shows? The Boys? Daredevil? Jessica Jones? Now, if the movie isn’t something that interests you then forget everything I said lol also understand that you don’t have to take a chance on wasting your time if you don’t want to. All I’m saying with the OP is that 4 hours being “too long” is a weird reason to pass up on it, especially seeing as how you can control how you view it from the comfort of your own couch, bed, etc. It’s a vast improvement over the Whedon cut. Don’t rob yourself of seeing it if it being too long is the deciding factor

It also shows you that the Heroes of DC don't mind killing folk to save others. It is more realistic than Marvel, who worries to knock out other people without killing or severely I juring them. Most Marvel heroes are not that much stronger than regular people so it makes sense that they don't move like that, while DC heroes like Wonder Woman and Superman are gods, they're supposed to be crazy powerful, so the way they move has to reflect that. It took me a bit to realize he actually liked it. I thought it was sarcasm lol
Just wanted to fill some stuff in: None of the footage in The Snyder Cut is from the theatrical version. Zack hasn’t even seen that cut, his wife and Christopher Nolan made sure he never watched it because it would “break his heart”
that is not true. there are some scenes that are the same. but those scenes are the ones snyder made for the theatrical version. none of the scenes of The Snyder Cut are the ones made by joss whedon
@@31IJ4H_ yeah all the whedon scenes are gone, but it was interesting to see what scenes stayed the same in both versions. however, the colour palette fit so much better in zack’s vision

Victor (Cyborg) and his Dad were the most interesting characters in this movie imo. They were definitely shunned by the theatrical release. The flash was still a bit too goofy for me though. A great and original movie nonetheless- I hope more superhero epics are made in the future.
I think one of the best parts is they actually showed how Steppenwolf got the last mother box, and ended up showing what happened to cyborgs dad.
Nah, for me it was the flash
@@rayyanshaikh5591 fair enough but I just didn't like him because his father-son relationship wasn't really developed enough to be effective (unlike Victor's) and that hot dog scene could've been cut without a problem, it didn't serve any purpose! He wasn't as terrible as he was in the cinematic release, but he definitely could've been better.
@@franciss2529 it wasn't developed enough? You tripping? That was his motivation for almost killing himself to save the planet. This shows that it was really developed
@@rayyanshaikh5591 No, it doesn't. There was no real emotional or logical depth behind him willing to die, which is why imo it wasn't an effective gesture. He was too cringy elsewhere to seem truly heroic in the scene and his Dad featured in it for what, 2 minutes, and he barely got a word in! I know he's in prison and the comics explain it but it was still half baked for a 4 hour movie. However, Victor and his parents had a great backstory, his Dad had some properly interesting and well deserved screentime and a good link to the plot (as @Wizard Master highlights).
I can't imagine how the execs looked at the final battle and said cut all the Flash stuff, Batman initial assault and toss in a red sky and Russian family.
Joss whedon is an idiot. He should have just finished snyder's cut and refrained from the unnecessary reshoots. All he had to do was trim down the overall length and finish the remaining effects
@@fatezero8662 whedon could never do that, he’s known to be a notorious script doctor
@@fatezero8662 it's not all his fault. I'm sure the studio had a lot to say about what they wanted out of the film when he came on. Probably said just have them save some people while they're attacking steppy to raise the stakes

Joss W could've still trimmed the fat from the script and still leave a lot of Snyder stuff in, instead of making unnecessary reshoots and wasting more money.

To me it felt like the earth used to be tough as fuck
And as time went on we became a weaker planet
The same people complaining about a 4 hour runtime are the same ones who can binge watch an entire streaming service series in one night
Amen!
Same people applauding endgame for taking 10 hours of avengers film plus solo supporting movies to build its universe
It’s the same concept here. The movie is divided into 6 parts (that will actually tell you when the next part is starting) so you could even treat each part like an episode if you wanted, taking breaks in between.
I don’t the CGI was too bad with the exception of a couple instances... and the Flash running is WAY better than in 2017... especially, you know... THAT scene that happens. So beautiful!

My favorite part of this is how cyborg seemed like an actual focal point of the story. I can't really remember anything of what he did in the original.
Theatrical version cut all his character development and emotional scenes and just made him Say " Booyah " like how disrespectful is that
His character was kinda a asshole though. But I lightened up to him by the end. Also the flash is so cringe, none of his jokes made me laugh at all. But overall a good movie. I’d give it a 75%, and I can’t wait for Martian Manhunter (my favorite hero)
Sticky Fingaz I don’t think his jokes are intended for laughter it’s designed to show how off and out of place he feels in the group. It’s supposed to look wrong and uncomfortable.
He wore a hoodie and said booyah once is all I remember him doing in Whedon’s version. Mans cried for a very emotional scene and actually reacted to being turned into a death machine in Snyder’s version. Ray Fisher had every right to be mad of the initial release, he acted his ass off
I don't get the hate for CGI in DC movies. The mustache is terrible, but the way they move looks awesome to me. And looks way better than Marvel. Especially in Man Of Steel. The way Faora moves and fights is so satifying. They actually feel like super beings fighting. In Marvel it looks like overchoreographed light hits set to shakey cam.
@GOTHAM KNIGHT the wonder woman fighting scene was probably the worst scene of the movie
Are you high?
The ww scene was pretty bad. But I agree marvel use too much cgi as a result new iron man suits look shit. But even in this movie the movement of cgi chracters is so satisfying. @@ShivamPatel-yq7rr Kind of unrelated, but have you seen those videos behind the scenes of marvel movies being made? It's basically some actor standing around a green screen with more green screen around and moving around. I just find it a bit funny haha
Agreed, though I don't think the Marvel choreography is bad. Very different power levels. Most Marvel heroes are not that much stronger than regular people so it makes sense that they don't move like that, while DC heroes like Wonder Woman and Superman are gods, they're supposed to be crazy powerful, so the way they move has to reflect that. The closest we've gotten a similar style to DC in the MCU was Vision vs VIsion in Wandavision, because that's the closest we've gotten to that power level.
This 4hr long film felt shorter than WW84, and was much, much better
