I'm a huge Nintendo fan and those are some of my favorite series. So I always like to play those as background music for my streams. Will definitely continue the series as long as people are supporting it and watching! Thanks for the feedback with Chad too, I think I will have him cover any fighter analysis that I've already done.
It is so funny you did this matchup, like the day before you uploaded this video I was thinking about how tough this had to be for Genie, because of how Gaze of Stone gets through many of his defenses, I was very surprised to see Genie actually keep it competitive (and even win through fatigue?!), very cool match.
Haha nice! Yeah he doesn't have a ton of defenses to deal with gaze, but Medusa can't just carelessly attack all the time in case Genie is ready to explode with a wishes hand dump combo turn.
As always love to see Chad in any format. But also glad to hear that you John is tired to tell the same information about Meduza twice. Cause from my point of view it's duplicated information and isn't isn't worth to tell it every time before video. Meanwile sometimes you say really intresting information regarding current much up in this block which might be moved to "Key points" block. I think it might save your time and give us even more uniq content ♥
Thanks for your input! For the key points I try to come up with specific interactions and talking points ahead of time. During the fighter analysis it's all just free-form rambling haha. So yeah sometimes I kinda mix some strategy stuff into those sections. If we get the same fighter a 3rd time then maybe we will skip the fighter analysis for that one.

And one of the concepts of development is DRY - Don't Repeat Yourself. It means if you already have some piece of code you can't just write another one but similar. You have to use this part of code for your needs cause every additional code takes some resources... And... I don't wanna be offending. Don't get me wrong. you have some special ideas in that block as Chad has. But mostly it's sort of duplicating information after yours and Baked Goods' strategy guides. And in the way I highly appreciate your content I just wanna save your time for us :) P.S. Please tell Chad I am waiting for new puzzles XD or steal his idea finally because he hasn't released anything for a long time

But if people are following the series then I definitely don't want to be going over the same fighters multiple times. But if it's the first repeat I just thought it would be a nice change for the viewers to hear Chad's take on the character.
Have you heard the news about Restoration Games putting Cobble & Fog/Robin Hood vs Big Foot "in the vault"? Love to see a video with your thoughts on this direction.
I have heard! I think it's fine because we will still have them available for online play and they can't keep every set in circulation forever. Though it is a bit sad for those who get into the game later, but i think that's the nature of any board game.

@@zeroskatr12 All too true. I've heard rumblings about Squirrel Girl might be Sherlock's bane, for that reason. Medusa feels like she's perpetually on top though. She has matchups ranging from ideal to equal, but hardly any where she's actually at a disadvantage the whole time.
@ClawsAndTeeth yep I do agree that Medusa doesn't have as many weaknesses as Sherlock does. And I have seen Squirrel Girl beat Sherlock. We will see if that's consistent at all.
Another great edition to the series! Also loved seeing Chad give his insights! Also a random note, the "click" sound of the keyboard is oddly satisfying. As you're revealing the cards, it sounds like you're going through slides in a slideshow! Random, I know, but I love it!

Genie seems increadibly fun. Shame the game is just now coming to my country so I will probably have to wait quite some time for him. Good video as always.

Last year there was a crowdfunding campaign to bring translated Unmatched to here and I backed it but due to COVID the ship with the already printed translated version has only being able do leave China now and the game will only arrive by the end of the month. We will be getting every PD set except for BOL vol 2 and the Houdini Genie set. Excited to get my hand into the game but I can wait a bit longer 😄
I have not tried that one yet, but I imagine Genie could have a decent chance. He can likely take out her first life fast enough where he won't just get exhausted on her 2nd life. The res combo would be the concern.

Thanks! Yeah I was confused too haha. He thought it was just over and he figured it would be cool to see the offensive wishes attack deal damage by forcing the draw. Guess he threw for content 😂
@@zeroskatr12 I think he missed a damage from Careful what you Wish for, it looks like she should have been at 4, not 5, so it should have still killed Medusa from card draw.
@foxygramps1207 I think I might agree with this exactly. I just remember the hype of seeing Ike back in action. I actually JUST finished playing through PoR with my GF a couple months ago and we plan to start up RD soon 😁

Yeah I've seen a couple great players essentially resign. No like official statements or anything, but they just don't really play competitive anymore for various reasons.

Your actually wrong about "this is no parlor trick" momentous shift won't be 5 because no matter what the value is the card is going to be the boost value. Even if there card affect increases THE VALUE
@@zeroskatr12 if thats the case.... parlor trick being 1 value makes its a dead card... because it really doesn't have much use and makes him so much weaker when dealing with high damage people when he has low defenses and attacks.... i see it as a perm change that couldn't be undone
@@zeroskatr12 thats not a viable purpose for the card.... because if I draw it and need to defend myself ..... how is a 1 defense that has no effect on boost and addon value ..... that unreasonable

It would certainly be nice, as I'm a huge Genie fan. But if he can stand up to Medusa (one of the best characters in the game) then he really isn't struggling too much 😂
@@LordofdeLoquendo i used someones buffs for bloody mary she isn't that viable as is. thres a whole list of buffs and nerfs this guy made and tested to balance out a bunch of the heroes including sherlock and medusa and king arthur and muldoon its really good and has made it much better to play for my group

Genie is incredibly difficult to play properly due to how little damage he actually has in his deck
For sure. It's all about timing so you can get undefended hits.

Around 10:00 I don't think the fact your opponent draws first matters for loss anymore with "the new rule" *spooky noises*? Or was it reverted?
You're right. Now if both fighters die to Wishing for More Wishes then Genie wins if it was an attack and the opponent wins if it was on defense.

@Hilget well if you're talking about the Careful into the Hiss near the end of the 1st game, I wasn't adjacent so it wouldn't deal that 1 auto damage.

Parlor trick becomes 4 after the desire and they can be hit very hard. This is often 6 direct damage. It turns out rarely, but very aptly.

You've played Unmatched competitively, do players ever resign like they do in chess?

Have you ever thought about tracking all of your plays of unmatched? You could use something like BG Stats and could see some interesting stats!

No because shift changes it's value to 5 after the parlor trick changes it to it's boost value since defender resolves first.
