    This shows how naturally talented they were. No need for auto tune or other electronic tricks. Just raw talent.

      Why is everyone so obsessed with autotune, like it gives more credence to talented artists from the past? There are plenty of talented singers around now, or doesn't anyone care to check?

    • @tonynorriss379

      @@Hexon66 My kids tell me that they wish they had been back in my era because we had all the good music. My response is that we had plenty of crap stuff back then as well, but what they hear from back then is the stuff that was good enough to survive 40-50 years. But I do think autotune has lead to a certain amount of laziness in modern performers. I think a lot would struggle to perform and sound good in a live environment such as that without any aids such as autotune. That doesn't mean there still isn't great talent though.

      Understand what you're saying, and I love their harmonies. But you tell you the truth, I was in a small singing group in high school a million years ago and we did the same thing without any instruments at all. Every single time we were on key at the end of the song. And we were just teenagers. None of us were music majors. Some people have an ear for music and some don't. We're all different.

    One of the reasons Robin's voice was un- replicable is because he had a natural very fast and narrow vibrato. Most vibratos that people teach their vocal chords to do are much wider and slower because that's much easier to accomplish. A wider vibrato goes above and below the note by a fair amount, while the narrow vibrato that Robin had stays close to right on the note. Very unique quality to his voice. Beautiful!

    Yes, phantastic! Strange news, so I've been reading that on the Rolling Stone magazine, Bee Gees are placed on Nr. 95 of best songwriters in music-history. 95??????????????? What the hell is goin' on with those ingnorant and arrogant, bloody bastard critizens. Bros. Gibb are holding so many records and Nr. 1 songs. Wrote about 1100 songs over nearly 5 decades. Were overlooked and written down so many times. But always came back, jumping over the hurdles which were thrown in their way. Please check'em out with a song, called 'Blue Island', live and unplugged on MTV-Most Wanted, in 1993 I think. You'll get perfect harmonies again!

    They were absolutely incredible together, Barry with his falsetto also has a unique voice. This song was taking me down memory lane. I had an old family friend that going back to the 1940's. He used to play with My Mum's Sister back then when they were kids. They didn't care about the eyebrows they raised because She had mainly European Decent and He was Aboriginal. All they saw when looking at each other was Their Friend. His Youngest Daughter and I have been Close Friends since we were teenagers in the 90's. I didn't have a Best Friend, I had 3 Close ones. Anyway when I was in my 20s another one of those Close Friends and I were staying at their house 🏡. We were getting ready to go to a party across the street. I was ready early so I went to hang out with him and his wife while I waited. He got out his guitar then started singing this song and I started harmonising with him. When we were ready to leave, he was clearly disappointed. From then on we started performing together at parties. It was so sad when he developed Alzheimers and couldn't Perform anymore. About a year ago he passed away in his sleep.
    As a side note I have a Brother-in-law in Redcliffe just outside Brissie (Brisbane) who lived around the block from The Bee Gees. He used to play gigs with them at a local pub as teenagers. A few years back Barry visited the area, he said hello to my Brother-in-law and called him by name.

    Nobody dared trying to copy Robin's voice or his iconic leads because it was impossible. Barry said many copied or even mocked his falsetto but nobody tried to copy Robin. His vibrato was superb. He had his own echo. Vibrato is a rapid but spot on variation in pitch many times in a millisecond and you either have it or you don't. It is like AC current and an effect of the central nervous system on the vocal chords. There are a few singers out there with good vibrato but the quality of his voice combined with his vibrato was unparalleled. Such a loss - both twins. Two of my favorite Robin leads are "Black Diamond" and "Country Lanes but there are dozens that I love. Together these brothers made magic.

    Wow, I had not seen this acoustic version. Thank you for selecting this version to react to. I agree with your assessment. Robin's voice is magnificent. No one can sing like him and his voice cannot be imitated. This acoustic version shows off the talent of Robin and his brothers. It's just their bare voices and a couple of guitars and they sound just as fabulous. I just love them. By the way, some of the comments below keep referring to their disco era. They hated to be called disco because they hadn't heard of disco when they wrote the songs for SNF. Their producer, Robert Stigwood, contacted them to write some songs for this "little movie" he was doing. So they gave him the songs that they had just finished writing for a new album they were working on. As they say, the rest is history.

    • @beeharbour
      @beeharbour 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It was true that the Bee Gees could always reproduce the sound of their recordings in their concerts but by no means all acts from those days could do so. I saw some horrifically bad concerts back in the day. Now sometimes (Stephen Stills, The Pogues, come to mind immediately) the performers were far too high/drunk to make a serious judgement on their ability to perform, but others appeared to be trying but failing to sound decent. There was not the arsenal of tools available that there are today to make the sucky sound plausible but some chicanery went on nonetheless with some artists. The megahit "Frampton Comes Alive" was rumored to be unrecognizable to those in attendance at the actual concert, so doctored was the final product. I can't vouch for the truth of that, I hasten to add.

      @@beeharbour Yes it depended on what event you went to and the condition of the band but that's about all we had back then if we couldn't see them on a variety TV show so yeah, I wasn't going to bring up the negative on live concerts...and the audience in some cases were just as bad at times as well. I didn't get to see too many concerts until college so at that point, the groups had to be somewhat cleaned up to do that. And yeah, I went to a few stinkers where I believe I walked out it was so bad. And via my comment, it was about the BG's not everyone out there...and yes, there was a ton of studio work being done and no, I didn't get to see them in person living in midwest rural America you were lucky to not have to drive a couple of hours to even go to a concert.

      @MollieC-uc1fk Well, you said you couldn't tell the difference between a concert and a record back then, so I was simply saying that quite often you absolutely could. The Bee Gees were more an exception than a rule by my admittedly unscientific recollection.
