    The part where he said one cannot use the Duller as a top coat was extremely helpful to me. I have a new pair of Corral boots which are between satin and shiny and I wanted to dull them. Knowing this would make them chalky saved me the time, money, and failure. Thanks! If anyone can recommend a mattifyer or duller that I can use alone please reply.

    I'm working on restoring some Air Up 2014 Orlando's. In 94 that was my first signature shoe so I wanna do em well. I've experimented on beaters, but can I premix Angelus paint with duller in a bottle? I wanna make sure my test subject had the exact ratio I'm putting on the real deal. Or does duller need to be added at the moment of painting?

    Angelus Flat Black can actually be a little glossy especially on flat leather and putting Angelus Matte Finisher on top will only make it even more so (matte finisher is as if not more glossy still)
    You're probably gunna wanna add 5% duller to your last couple layers of flat black or matte finisher to get it looking factory in my opinion.

    airbrushed my 1st two layers of paint on shoes - ever - last night (aka this morning). i mis-remembered that y'all say 5-10% duller and only added a drops for fear of the chalk lol
    anyway i'll get the ratio right today & slap on a few more coats. i also have the matte finisher so i should be able to steer things away from the gloss pretty well #growingpains

    • @AngelusBrand

      Duller is optional. Start off with a 50/50 mix of 2-Soft and paint and if you choose to have a flat look then add a drop or two of duller. Thanks for watching and let us know if you have any more questions.

      There really is nothing much you can do except for making sure it is kept in room temperature and sealed really well. You can also try shaking it up or maybe adding some 2-thin, but chances are it is too dried up.

    By adding a matte finisher to a normal coat of Angelus paint (without duller) would the effect be the same as using a duller?

    • @AngelusBrand
      @AngelusBrand  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, actually matte is just considered our finisher with the lowest shine. You will still get a tiny sheen. Remember, all our paints contain a little finisher in it already. So ultimately, applying a finisher is optional, but it is suggested to give it that extra seal. You can always mix a little duller into the finishers to wipe out the shine as well. You also want to know that it is all about preparation, right amount of layers and making sure each coat is dry before applying the next. Once the last coat is applied you also want to make sure that it is fully cured. Finishers will only give your custom that additional protection it does not make the paint chip or crack proof. Hope this helped.

    Hi! Helpful video, thanks! Now, the only problem is that I've aldready painted my Adidas suede shoes with paint and 2 - soft, 1:1. No duller tho.. And now the suede almost looks like shiny leather. Is it possible to reduce the gloss by adding a coat of Matte Finisher with some drops of duller mixed in? Or should I do another coat of paint with 2 - soft and duller?

    • @AngelusBrand
      @AngelusBrand  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The paint and the duller would take that shiny look away. No need to add the 2-Soft. The paint will not be soft on suede.

    • @AngelusBrand
      @AngelusBrand  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you can use our flat white on any scratches. Just make sure you prep the leather first. Angelus Paint is not recommended for use on the very bottoms of shoes as the paint will wear away as soon as you start walking in them. Angelus Paint also works great on certain Soft Midsoles (Jordan 3's, Jordan 4's), and will not hold up on hard midsoles (Converse, Vans, Jordan 1's, Air Force 1's, etc). We want you to have the best experience possible with realistic goals.

      You can do two things. Remember, all our paints have finisher in it already. You can use paint/duller mix and do not have to apply a finisher. All our finishers will have a specific sheen to them. However, if you feel like you want to add a finisher. You can always mix some matte finisher/duller and apply a coat. This will not hurt the custom. However, we would just say use the paint/duller method, no finisher added. Totally optional and up to you

    Very interesting ! Can we use the dye only ? Dye + 2 Thin in 50/50 for leather and Dye + 2 Soft for Textile / Fabrics in 50/50 also ? Thanks !

    • @AngelusBrand
      @AngelusBrand  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, there is a huge difference between our paints and dyes. We only recommend using the dyes for either leather or suede materials. Remember, Dyes takes the color of what is under them. So if you dye something white with red it will turn pink. It mixes with it. Paint sits on the surface and grabs on. You can cover anything with paint. Our paint is water based while our dyes are alcohol based. Ultimately, if you want to use dye in an airbrush no additive is needed. Please feel free to email us if you have any additional questions or need any tips info@angelusdirect.com Thanks

I'm wondering which product can help me to get durability and protection of painting so paint will not crack after few days.

    • @AngelusBrand
      @AngelusBrand  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey there! Make sure to prep first to ensure the paint holds! No duller is needed if the Flat colors are already flat enough for your project, but you can add more if you would like, just make sure not to add too much. No finisher is needed if you are happy with the look of the paint once it has dried. As long as you have prepped correctly the paint will not come off.

      If you are airbrushing the midsoles, yes. Be careful with how much of the duller that you add, you only need very little.

    Hi Dillon, On soft material do you add Duller ratio before or after adding 2-Soft?

    • @AngelusBrand
      @AngelusBrand  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The amount of Duller should be so minimal that it shouldn't make too much of a difference. Overall it may be easier to add the 50/50 mix of 2-Soft and Paint first followed by a couple of drops of Duller.

  • @nebbarnes3404
    @nebbarnes3404 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you say use 50/50 on paint and duller? What about 2 hard? I am about to paint some pleather shoes what do I need to do? I heard use acetone first to get rid of, I forgot the name. But the stuff the factory sprays on it. Do I need to use 2 hard? and if so what's it for?

    • @AngelusBrand
      @AngelusBrand  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are using duller then it is 3% of the paint you are using. So basically only maybe 3-4 drops. When you are working with pleather. We would suggest using nail polish remover with acetone for preparation. You will not need 2-hard for pleather. Only use 2-hard for plastics and materials that are hard, like windows. • @AngelusBrand
      @AngelusBrand  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can but we may not suggest it. Unfortunately Duller can dry and clump up fairly easily if the bottle is not tightly fastened and stored. This method may potentially cause the paints to dry up and render useless so it may not be worth it in the long run.

    If I used black matte paint should I still be using a matte finisher with duller? I tried on one more part and it made it too chalky and flaky. I used less duller and it still gave it a chalky feel

    • @AngelusBrand
      @AngelusBrand  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally when you come across chalkiness it would have to do with the ratios of duller to paint. The matte finisher still gives off a little sheen to its finish so you can add duller into the finisher. Just add maybe 2-3 drops of duller and work from there.

    • @AngelusBrand
      @AngelusBrand  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All the Acrylic Finishers contain a different shine to them. Matte contains the least amount of shine while the High Gloss contains the most. Order of shine is as follows - Matte, Satin, Regular then High Gloss. You can try adding some duller into the finisher if you like, but more than likely you will need to start and prep all over. Also, we always suggest applying the finisher on a small area before you apply on the whole project.
