Those pipes have come up really well mate. They look great. You have to get so close to see the slight imperfections. Ive learnt a lot there and thats what im going to do on my new project. So thanks for the vids! 😁cheers!
Your sanding method is spot on, you can go up to 2000grit if you like, then on your buff, there are two British polishing soaps you can use, grey for cutting and white for final shine, I normally go over with meguiars metal polished to bring it up to a mirror finish, you can then clear coat it.
I wired a tachometer on mine. It's a nice, funcional little mod and if it's something you'd like to do, might as well do it before it's all back together.
Coming together nicely mate. The Exhaust looks way better Black, engine came up real nice after the wd40 stuff. Been rebuilding & bobbing a Virago 750 the last 2 years, so I know the work involved. K.O.K.O mate. Al. 😉
Hello, i have a friend who works for Yamaha Racing Belgium, he says that sometimes humidity stay in the exhaust when the motorbike is running on without riding and it makes rust (from the inside to the outside) in the exhaust... Don't forget to verify the electricity before rebuilding the motorbike, it's a mess on Yamaha's. (I have a XT600E, i know what i say... 😵) Very good work, beautiful restoration ! 👍😎 Bye.
Greetings Mark, mate you are doing a great job for a home project, keep it up, Remember some safety on spraying anything, please wear a face mask....all the best mate....
Hey Mark, you inspire me to keep going with my old 1990 kawasaki 550, So luvin the bike build mate, my frame is rusting here and there, so thats the weekend job, i watch your video after work and bcause i live in England my comments may seem a little late, haha but its all good, keep on keeping on mate...🔧🔧🏍👍
Hey Mark, I have a Dremel tool it’s very handy for lots of the fiddly bits and hard to reach places, also have a look at a polish Called “Purple” it dose an amazing mod will minimal effort. Enjoy the vids Cheers Blocko
Little Lucifer is well named. After a year and a half on my rebuild, I both sympathise and realise that the devil is in the detail. Keep the faith its looking good.
I have heard of people drilling specifically 3 holes in the stock exhaust to attempt to change the sound. Looks like someone's punched 3 holes through with a screw driver or something lol
Mark, I noticed when you were showing the bike frame, around the steering head, what appeared to be the VIN Number of the bike. You need to be careful not to remove it, if that is the case.
Mark Have a tip for you have you heard of product called SCA-Aerosol-Rust-Converter you can paint over lite rust it will convert the rust and you can paint over it too here's a video of the product at Supercheap Auto: www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/SCA-Aerosol-Rust-Converter-400g/416582 So my theory is if there's places oh you can't get to and you going to paint it black anyway you can use this product and you don't have to sand like crazy on the rust if it's like rust and you can paint the frame with it before you paint it with the black colour you going to do Let me no what you think
With all the work involved I'm glad I keep my bike nice and clean all the time so I'll never have to do anything like it myself :-o
That’s it mate... good Onya :-)
Looking good Mark. This bike is going to look awesome!
An Olympic effort Mate! You've earned a Gold Medal for sure. Looking good. Can't wait to see the finished product. I bet you can't either! Cheers!

It's getting there!
My fingers hurt just thinking about all that sanding. Knowing what you do now, would you do another project like this one? It's looking good though!
Little Lucifer is really getting there!
Thanks mate! :-)

Thanks mate! :-)
I'm pretty sure you could cure the exhaust pipe paint by running your blow-torch into the pipe
mark , can you tell tell me if you applied a top coat and if so was it temperature rated to the polished clutch cover? cheers
No top coat mate! Just a light polish once a year and it will be great!
Hey Mark,
I have a Dremel tool it’s very handy for lots of the fiddly bits and hard to reach places, also have a look at a polish Called “Purple” it dose an amazing mod will minimal effort. Enjoy the vids

Yeah got a Dremel and will definitely be using it thanks! :-)
You need a Karcher or Gurney pressure washer to get the grease off.
Little Lucifer is well named.
After a year and a half on my rebuild, I both sympathise and realise that the devil is in the detail.
Keep the faith its looking good.
LOL... Nice one! :-)
Did you sand the whole exhaust to help the paint stick? Cheers
Yes
try scotch brite scouring pad, and Marvel Mystery oil, some claim its excellent restoring aluminium castings
Bunnings have degreaser in the cleaning chemical section. You're doing good mate.
Thanks for that mate! :-)
Good job on the bike Mark. Starting to look awesome - too bad it can't be shipped to Denmark or i would have been on the buyers list ;)
Thanks mate and yeah it sucks having the distance barrier! :-)
Keep on polishing mate you will be a victor.. Ha see what i done there...
LOL... sure did! :-)

It’s so pitted there that the number is pretty much unreadable without looking at the number on the plate!
Fingers crossed they don't give you a hard time when you go to get it registered
