Insane how he can play that well with the sun in his eyes
And with almost 17% of his strings missing!
Nice.
@@StefanGBucher 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nice one, that caught me off guard xD
@@DerSpalter To every soul OUT THERE:
All prayers from Righteous SOULS aka Born again Christians, have power. Sinners prayers GOD hears not. Unless we REPENT and born again and LIVE HOLY, GOD hears none of our prayers. Prayers have power, but these must come from Changed hearts.
Proverbs 15:29 The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
Psalms 119:155 “Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.”
(Many souls(unsaved souls), believe falsely and pray in vain).
Mankind is filled with UNSAVED SOULS (WICKED SINNERS).
That`s why there`s a calling to REPENTANCE and to BORN AGAIN:
Luke 5:32
I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
John 3:7
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Luke 13:3
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
I'm 67 years old. Have loved music my entire life. This young man is a gift from God, for all of humanity. He is changing, in fact evolving the world of music with his genius and his heart.
You're #1 on my bucket list, Jacob.
Thank you for making me smile.
Me too and I'm 72.....he makes me dance!
But you don't just put human beings on your "bucket list" unless you plan to either see them in concert or... oh. Oh no
I'm 62. I agree with what you say here. He's such a talent.
I'm 67, and agree about Jacob (if not the god part). Saw him in concert last year, and it was really great.
I'm 23 and I agree ! Though I listen to a lot of 60's and 70's rock. He s bringing in a new vibe revolutionary and evolving, like the Beatles did in a way, differently though of course. I truly feel the same way you described, he is a gift from above to all of us it is truly remarkable the way his music blends with his personality and messages he passes on, into one.
Beautiful is the only word for Jacob.
In absolutely every way possible!
Yes, along with about a million other words... :-) Admittedly, most of them are related to.... beauty.
Colorfully Beautiful!!!
There are infinite words for Jacob.
absolutely. instantly brought me to tears
JC is the only musician I've ever seen who seems to be in a flow state every time he picks up an instrument.
Watching this video, just like on Little Blue Mahogany Session, it's like he's deciding on what chords might compliment things well *as he's in the middle of playing* and just produces them in the moment, and yes, they compliment it all perfectly.
His voice or the guitar or whatever, seem to be mere extensions of his mind, let alone his body. He thinks it, and it just happens. Mesmerising.
I'm brazilian and a huge fan of Milton Nascimento and Jacob Collier. So, this beginning using the melody of "Ponta de Areia" is extraordinary for me. I hope the world recognise the importance that Milton Nascimento has in jazz and brazilian popular music. Nice job Jacob!!
Such good point!
Mano eu to embasbacado.
This is 🔥!!!
Amen to that. One of my favourite Jacob quotes - there are many to choose from - was I think at the Grammy’s, something along the lines of “standing on the shoulders of giants”. It’s great to see even the best musicians never forgetting their teachers.
mano, SIM.
Só de pensar que o Minton ta aí velhinho, e teve umas das carreiras mais lindas, e eu pude ver e ouvir isso. É Nossa obrigação perpetuar isso...
I lost my father 6 months ago. He was a remarkable guitar player and song writer. Last week my oldest child suggested we go see Jacob Collier live in Atlanta in a few weeks. I had never heard his music. We got the tickets. Now I’m listening, crying and thinking of how much my father would love this song in particular.
Jacob did not disappoint! He played this tune and the entire show was phenomenal. I will hopefully have the privilege to see another Jacob Collier live performance again. The musicianship of the band and the singers is unmatched. I was blown away. Thank you for a memory of a lifetime!
Cudos to the sound guy who captured the rich warmth of the Taylor and the treasure of Jacob's voice, thereby bringing us all into the immediacy of the moment.
Wow, you really used some words there
It’s in studio 🤔
Can’t tell if that’s a whoosh, Jacob is a renowned composer and teaches masterclass studio production lol
@@juanfelipearteaga9022 This is definitely a live capture lol have you heard Jacob’s studio work?
@@juanfelipearteaga9022 this man has never seen a live performance before lol
He played "Ponta de Areia" as an intro, how lovely 😊❤
Salve Milton Nascimento ❤❤❤
A cultura do Brasil é gigante
Foda, né?! 😍
Exato.
Jacob, your voice sounds sweeter and stronger year after year. This is a delicious arrangement of your song and the delicate guitar work is the sprinkles on top. ❤
A voice that makes a grown man cry in awe.
Please never stop being the beautiful person you are!
And a very grown woman too...
This boy is the true world's treasure.
Lyrics:
The sun is in your eyes
The sun is in your eyes
Throw me the cold
Throw me the cold, cold water of your smile again
To take me by surprise
You take me by surprise
Throw me the bold
Throw me the bold, bold treasure of your lips again
And where I go
You lead me in the right direction
With your love is my protection
I’ll be a world of your projection
And where I go
Singing songs of your affection
With rhymes to your perfection
In my eyes see a reflection
Of you
I see you clearly now
I hold you dearly now
The sun is in my eyes
This is such a stunningly beautiful song, I love it more each time I hear it.
I find it fascinating to see how much he’s developed this song since it’s original release on Spotify. He’s really mastering this song, and I love every iteration.
My favorite rendition of this song so far. The balance of every detail is getting so so sweet
You're right, it's so cool to see this growth
The intro is pure Milton Nascimento. Love it! Genius as always.
I cannot imagine being able to speak so fluently in the language of the soul. That would be a treat.
The introduction with "Ponta de Areia", by Milton Nascimento! Wonderful!
Thank you! I was scratching my head trying to figure out what song that was from. I've only heard the Esperanza Spalding version.
Happy to live on the same planet and get to hear your music 😀
What an iconic venue too. The Doors, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, Led Zeppelin have all played world class shows there.
The guitar and vocal melody call and response is so beautiful. 🌞
from the yellow crocs, the eighties skier frocks, the Jim Carey locks; rises the music (and joy thereof and therein) of an angel.
Ponta de Areia - Milton Nascimento on the Intro of your song! Saudações Brasileiras para você! É uma bela canção e imagens lindas! Parabéns !!!
bons ouvidos em irmão! caraca..
Iconic song and a great catch, Cassio! This Jacob guy kinda knows music, I guess haha.
Sim! Identificado.
Caraca! Foi certeiro
I was about to say that this instantly reminded me of Ponta de Areia!! Glad to see someone else noticed :D
I have my favourites but Jacob has to be the one I most want to see perform live. He seems to be every great artist of the past and the hope of the future rolled into one. The timbre of his voice makes me imagine lazy days in a hammock swung between 2 palm trees on a distant shore. Jacob, please NEVER stop xxxxx
> He seems to be every great artist of the past and the hope of the future rolled into one.
That's it. I thought he was the new Mozart, and he is, and he's also the new Debussy, and the new Miles Davis, and the new Joni Mitchell, and everyone else. He is the best in us.
@Nicola Larosa Yes he is the Da Vinci of music
@@NicolaLarosa Well said! We are living in a time in human history where we can say we were around his genius when he was composing. He even "liked" one of my TH-cam videos once and I felt I had been blessed by a pope or something, lol
@@TerryTagsThat's cute
One of my all time favorite songs! the simplicity, the atmosphere, the finger picking, the camera movements, the voice, all effortlessly brilliant and beautiful.
We have to help him keep the lights on and bright because he is a generational voice.........
It's my birthday today, and I just failed my drivers test. I was waiting to cry so that the chemicals wouldn't float around in my brain, and this did it for me. I have never been emotional over a Jacob Collier song before, and frankly I've only been this emotional a few times in my life.
Happy birthday!! Don't give up! A lot of people fail on their first time. You'll get it next time :)
@@Window4503 Thanks a lot! It's very kind to encourage someone over youtube comments of all things. I'm sure Jacob would smile if he saw that.
@@astal3204If you haven't passed it since your comment, you got this! It's no big deal, you'll have your solo ventures soon! ❤️
A much-needed beautiful and peaceful moment. Thank you !
He’s just so talented !
Your voice is like magic, weaving journeys I willingly immerse myself in.
We're lucky to be living during the era of human history when Jacob Collier is recording new compositions. This is what a prodigy looks like.
It’s soooooo boring. What is fun about this song to you? I am seriously inquiring no troll..
Fun? This isn't a fun song, it's not even pop or jazz or swing or hip ... it's just beautiful. This one's not supposed to be fun, it's supposed to be art, and not all art is for everyone. Your opinion is valid for you because this song doesn't speak to your musical taste. I'm not gonna un-hot your dog or un-tater your tot because you think it's boring. Maybe someday you'll be in a different place and you'll find new meaning in this. Maybe not. And that's fine. My favorite part of the song is around measure 35 (at around the 2:00 mark) when he goes from the major IV chord (Bb add2) to a 1st inversion minor iv (Bb minor add6) because that's what he calls the Negative Harmony of F major. Look up Negative Harmony Jacob Collier for more on that subject :) Thanks for your serious inquiry.
@@TerryTagsI love Jacob Collier too and really appreciate how beautiful and complex his music can be. But did you not notice how pompous this comment seemed before you hit send?
“Ponta de areia, ponto final…” such a beautiful melody by Milton Nascimento being adapted to this song was quite a great addition
The pure beauty of that song is hard to articulate
This guy is a gift 🗣️💯
Wheres the receipt bruh, I wanna return
After recording guitar for my upcoming album all day long, it's a blessing to hear that song. It's sometimes frustrating to practice, record, fail, and start all over again. I'm on my 4th attempt with this album, just saying. So here I am, chasing some abstract ideas of perfection while it feels so natural for you, Jacob. Some might feel like giving up when they see you play. But for me, listening to you, watching you, helps me remember why I'm doing this. It reminds me of the right direction, which is to never lose sight of the pure pleasure of discovering myself through creativity and the profound joy of sharing those magnificent discoveries with my loved ones. Those are truly the only reasons to do it. Okay, enough introspection, it's time to get some sun into my eyes ;)
an amateur musician here, I do music weekly at church. obviously what I do at church doesn’t need a standard as high and professional as you, but the frustration over music arrangements is there and it’s just sucks when I don’t know what to do with a song. when that happens, I also come to Jacob to find peace because, after all, what draws me to Jacob is his sincerity. thank you for sharing your pov, may all of us be as passionate as Jacob in our own musical journey. time for me get some sun too! :)
@MichealBoudreaumusique
thank you for making my day with this comment! sometimes it just takes some wise words to focus on my music and make the sun meet my eyes again ;)
I need an hour long performance video of Jacob with that exact set up going through like 10 songs. Beautiful.
Never ceases to amaze me how his intricate and complex playing seems completely effortless. No barriers, no boundaries, no delay. 😂 thanks for your music!
Jacob Collier makes a song.
The song is beautiful.
The lyrics are beautiful.
His guitar is beautiful.
The place where he’s filming is beautiful.
His outfit i-

Amazing bit at 2:03 where the sustained vocal note is taken over by the guitar! I've never seen this done before...awesome! x
oh wow, that's very cool
sustained vocal note: probably one of his favourite tricks...
Super dope
