Thank y’all for being so real with us! I am eating up every moment of this newborn content and it is so refreshing to see non filtered stuff on social media. It just warms my heart because I am so excited to be a mother one day and y’all are such a good example :))
This is the most realistic video about having a newborn I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much. Many people struggle and are overwhelmed with having a newborn and I think this video will help to normalize that situation!❤
I appreciated my husband being awake with me (once he realized I was awake, anyway) for those first few nights for feedings. My son has slept through the night otherwise the past nine weeks but having your spouse with you makes it better. I’m glad Stephen was with you when he realized you were awake. ❤ I hope your night time routine has gotten better. My son loved the halo sleep sack/swaddle that the hospital gave us because he also loves to kick those little feet. It allowed him to kick but not enough to startle him.
They grow so very fast! It feels like just yesterday when I had my son. He is almost 17 now!!! You are lucky you have a very loving and supportive husband. I did have a husband but I was left alone doing it all by myself.
"nowadays" lol i don't think back in the days it was this good girlie 😂 if anything i would say nowadays more men are getting better at being a decent person unlike the old ones
@@alexarose6292 pretty sure that most of them didn't even go in with their wives for delivery. People thought my dad was weird for going in with my mum when she was giving birth to me. Lol.
Pro tip! Get a 3 tiered cart to keep by your bed that has diapers, wipes, diaper cream, pump, breast milk bags, water and snacks for you, etc. so when you're up in the night you don't have stuff everywhere and have to hunt while half asleep :) Luna is perfect congratulations!! It goes so fast!!
I love how real and raw this video is I’m 36 weeks today and watching all your content is so helpful and pre-preparing me for what is to come 🥰 you guys are doing amazing
What helps us with teaching days from nights is that in the day time open all curtains, lights on and just have them in natural lighting! Feed first and then diaper change to keep them up a little more compared to at night time all lights off except a little night light , diaper change and then feed so that they fall asleep! It helped us !
Omg i have a 6 month old now and these days seem sooo long ago! It’s REALLY rough for like 2 months and then you start to get the hang of things and baby starts to “wake up” around the 3 month mark; smiling, holding themselves up a bit, and more interactive! These days of sleeplessness are going to be short lived. Yes, you might not get a full nights rest for a while (I still wake 2-4 times a night lol) but your body totally adapts and that morning cup of coffee takes the edge right off lol. Blessings to you and your little family!
You guys are doing an amazing job as new parents!!! Don’t be discouraged it’s a new experience for both wish you the best and sending lots of love!! 💕💕
Those first few days are the hardest. You're functioning on little sleep. What has worked for myself and others is definitely taking turns watching the baby so the other can get some rest. At least until she's older and you can have more of a routine and she's starting to learn the difference between day and night. I think around 4 weeks is when I focused more on setting a routine for naps and bedtime with all 4 of my kids and it helped so much. Right now it's kinda like a free for all cuz she's still so young to understand and she just wants to be held. Honestly my opinion is told hold her as much as she wants. If she only sleeps in ur arms than that's how it will be for now, like I said until she's a little older to start understanding naps and bedtime routines. You cannot "spoil" a baby by holding them too much.
I loved watching this!! It literally made me laugh when Steven got up but was still sleeping that he just didn't know what to do but reality of having a baby it's so hard at times but just a pure joy with a sweet baby! But Luna is beautiful!! Love you guys!
Definitely would recommend the book “Baby Wise”. My sister has two kiddos and used the methods to get them to sleep 8 hrs by 10 weeks. As a labor and delivery nurse i would 100% suggest checking the book out
Aww god bless you two you were so meant to be parents I can see how much it’s taken out of you on the first night but I’m sure it’ll get better Luna will find her routines when they get going your doing fantastic good on you for staying so happy and smiling love you guys
Awe man! The second/third day is the hardest! It’s when milk hasn’t came in and baby is hungry/trying to get milk to come in and they cluster feed non stop!! It’s absolutely exhausting but just know it does get so much better 🥰 the first week/two are so tiring but filled with so much love! You two got this
We always swaddled day and night, with breaks of it during the day. BUT during the day we had noises even when napping though. Whether that was the tv, vacuum, talking, etc! It’s definitely trail and error and the first few weeks are so hard and you guys are still learning each other, so give yourselves some grace. But also find a bedtime routine you guys LOVE and stick to it - consistency is key and she will eventually learn as she gets older when it’s night time and daytime.
White noise machine is soo helpful….you’re doing soo good momma ❤️ enjoy these moments they may seem so hard and stressful they grow so fast but you’re gonna miss these times 🥺
Understanding the lighting. Get a small lamp and have a red light bulb. Red light helps produce melatonin and provides light for you to see. When I nanny I always bring my little light. So helpful ❤
A little tip to help her sleep longer is to get a real swaddle so her startle reflex isn’t waking her up. Also if you’re doing binkys, that will help her smooth and go to bed (do not use binky after she falls asleep though) Y’all are doing so great, proud of you!!! 💗💗
I literally showed my husband this video to show him what it was like for me trying to get him to help at night!!!😂 He finally got to see how frustrating it was for me! Hahah. But it will get easier! My advice is to let him sleep (as much as you can bare) at night so you can take naps during the day! Helped us so much those first few weeks. Love you guys!! ❤
My boy is 4 months old now. And what we did before he started sleeping through the night was, I did one night of night feeds and he did the next night, so that allowed us both to have a full nights sleep. I would 100% recommended having a basket in your room, with nappies & wipes, bibs ect next to your bed. It was a life saver x
I'm new to your channel came across the two most beautiful people in the world, and am so glad I did, you both are so awesome, and now you have baby Luna, OMG your little princess is GEORGEOUS. THANK YOU FOR SHARING. TREASURE EVERY SECOND they grow us so fast. There's no handbook for baby, but your doing AWESOME, soak it all up and ENJOY CONGRATS TO YOU BOTH.
Wait until you are standing in line at the store ALONE and you start rocking from side to side. You will feel like Luna is with you but she's not. Lol ❤🇨🇦❤🇨🇦❤
I AM CRACKING TF UP AT HIM BEING SO DELIRIOUS WAKING UP LMAOOOO "youre freaking me out bro" SENT ME BC I SAID THAT IN MY HEAD RIGHT WHEN MADELINE SAID IT HE WAS STARTING TO SPOOK ME OUT LMFAOAOAOOAAOOA
My son turns 3 this year in July. The newborn stage id say most the time he was a very quiet baby. Cried a lot during the night which was a nightmare but now that he’s older (time goes so quick) he now sleeps all night in his own room. It definitely gets easier. Also I’m so happy for this baby to have a dad and for the women to have her bf/husband to help. Being a parent young can be hard. My sons father left us when our son was 3 months old and was the hardest thing I ever had to go through. Someone I knew for years who I thought was my soulmate leaving and being a single parent for the first time and also moving out into a temporary accommodation for the first time. I’m with someone else now and I hope it lasts. I hope to have a loving family one day.
When he sleeps at night you are able to nap during the day, its all about balance. & while I know you appreciate him wanting to help at night but trust me as long as one is well rested it makes things much easier on the one up all night. Also not every house is the same.
Youre doing great parents! Parenthood is definitely a learning curve..lol..if you want to help yourself a little bit..pump some milk and give her a bottle..with nursing, its hard to tell how much theyre eating..little tip..to prevent gas after she feeds, esp in the middle of the night when you want to go right back to sleep after she eats, use the boppy to elevate her and slightly turn her on her left side..seriously helps with gas.
Your little family is so precious. I shared this with my grandson who just became a father today! And I’m a great grandma now. ❤😂 Definitely agree with learning to walk your baby around the clock to get on a schedule. Bless you all
The first few nights at home are the worse. Also, the easy swaddles work better after the first few weeks-months. Once she gets better at sleeping. Definitely use the actual blanket to swaddle and do it as tight as possible. I also kept all mine in the swaddle and hat at night for the first few weeks. Y’all are doing great!!
Stephen is literally like my husband when I wake him up I SWEAR!! I’m actually crying😭😂 we’re due with our first in august, this video is cracking me up. I love yalls videos so much
Try white noise! We got a white noise machine and it worked wonders!! It helps block out noise and sudden sounds around the house. We got one off Amazon and it’s not different nightlights! We use the red one while we’re doing her bedtime routine then I turn it on the dim soft light!
My daughter didn’t sleep very good her first night after being in the hospital! We realized she wasn’t sleeping because she cold! At the hospital they keep it sooo warm for the babies. I was told they always needs one more layer then you have on! So I always double swaddled my daughter in those first few weeks and it helped so much! The first bit is so hard but you guys are doing so good! ❤
I only fed my newborn at 6, 10 and 2 around the clock so she was on a strict schedule and we all got plenty of sleep. Everything went smoothly from day one but all babies are different. You can’t hold her every time she’s fussy or that’s all you’ll be doing. I only pumped a hand full of times in 6 months for when I had to leave her with others. They also will sleep through noise, music, voices, etc. You have to be at your normal noise levels. If I had been a working more outside of home mom I would have pumped on the regular. She’s beautiful and your family is cute. Congratulations 🎈
Y’all are doing amazing! That’s exactly how my husband was when our boy was first born haha! Every time I would get him to grab the bottle or a diaper and wipes, he’d wake up and look at me and start saying something like he was at work and talking about what all he had to get done and I’d be like “honey you’re at home, you’re here with us not at work” 😂 Keep up the good work it’s only uphill from here! Y’all are going to be amazing parents❤
I love it how you exactly are showing how it is being a newborn parent for the first time. Also when mommy instructs daddy step for step for stand up, get wipes daiper and towel. And then saying oke get back to sleep lol haha
Luna is a normal sized newborn so she doesn’t really have to eat every 2 hours. I was a nurse at a pediatric hospital for 25 yrs. Only preemies got fed every 2 hrs. Never wake a sleeping baby when you are taking care of one. If you have to take care of multiples it is acceptable. Another thing you may try is at night dress her in something that covers her from the neck down and let her squirm (play) for awhile. If she isn’t crying let her play herself to sleep. Squirming is playing for her. Be a little slower to pick her up when she makes noises as she is going back to sleep she needs time to fall asleep and she needs to expend some energy. Let her actually cry before you pick her up.
Oh.. the first 4-6 weeks is the toughest. You might want to try light white noise or ocean waves App on your phone. You both are doing great... Any parent would agree.
You know what helped my son?? Cause he was just the same when he was little. I rolled up a towel and put it in his basinet on top of his head and also a rolled up towel on his fert so he had the same feeling that he has when he was in my womb, also with the swaddle thing on him and that really helped. Also we had a white noise machine which he really loved. Just a tip from a two time mom and that little non sleeper is now 7 years old and guess what he sleeps through the night so just stick to it it will get better, I promise!! ❤️ love from germany
Stephen not knowing where the things are is my husband these past few nights when I ask him a question and he answers with something completely off topic 😂😂 my baby is a month old and we still struggle with him sleeping in his bassinet and loves to sleep in arms 😭 it's a hassle but I'm enjoying every single moment bc when he grows up I will forsure miss it!
Hi guys! Add a mini fridge ( the ones for skin care) for milk bags, that way you don’t have to stand every time during the night. Good luck and bless your baby🥰
I remember those days!! It gets easier one day❤️ you’ll get sleep eventually. The feeding also slows down😩 my daughter breastfeeds for short spurts anymore. The newborn phase kind of feels like a blur😅 you’re doing amazing and you’re great parents❤️
The last time I watched your video ate Madeline was not pregnant during that time that's why I was shocked right now because you two already have a baby! congratulation to both of you!💗
Their days and nights are off because when they were in utero and mommy is moving around during the day it soothes them to sleep, but at night she’s not being moved around and she can’t sleep without that movement…try a bed that vibrates or rocks …I promise it’s a lifesaver!!!
I tell you what.. nobody can swaddle a baby like the maternity ward nurses! They are literal champions at swaddling! I have two daughters (one in college, the other is in high school) and I remember I was never able to swaddle either one of them very well when they were newborn, lol.. I tried so hard! 😂 I literally wound up having my first born sleep in the bed next to me and I remember laying on my side and nursing her and being kinda half asleep half awake.. parenting is no joke, that’s for sure! 😂
My son is 3 months and he did the same thing at night. He has been cosleeping with us till now. We have finally got him to sleep in the bassinet. Cosleeping was the only way I could get some sleep. The first 2 weeks of him being born we contact slept cause as soon as I put him down he woke up. Also if you guys are doing pacifiers that might help keep her content instead of using your boob as her human pacifier. I loveeeeee the tommee tippee ultralight pacifier! It does get better hang in there and take all the newborn cuddles in cause they grow so fast ❤️
It takes 3 months for baby's to relise they have been born...its considered the 4th trimester..and you just have to ride it out...expect life to be absolutely nuts and sleepless for months...its hard at the time but later it feels like this phase is 5 seconds long in comparison...sending love blessings to you both.
Something I’ve learned for training babies how to sleep at night and be up in the day is to make sure they’re in dark quiet areas at night and then keep it bright in the day and try to keep them up
Can't wait to get a updated Q&A since being parents .. I found a lifesaver I'm pretty sure Amazon has them but swallow them really tight and then there is it almost looks like a pregnancy pillow but it's for the bassinet or crib and it makes them feel like tight just like in the womb and I promise you it was my saving Grace my first sign did exactly what baby Luna is doing as soon as he got sat down and was asleep he would wake backup and as soon as I pick them up he would fall right back to sleep pillow for him was a lifesaver it makes them feel tight and close quarters like it is in your belly and then on top of it the tight swaddle was seriously a saving Grace for every child so hopefully that helps and I'm hoping she sleeping better for you guys the first month is a stressful time getting acclimated to their schedule then getting out the made it to your schedule and just them being in the new world is it's a hard adjustment and it's really hard on us parents but you guys did so good had such positive you know feedback even while being so sleepy so baby Luna is blessed to have such great parents
You should get a little caddy with wheels so at night you can have the diaper stuff next to you. You can also add in some pantry snacks for snacking during the night. 😂 Stephen being delirious
i don't think i've ever seen a youtube couple post the first night after coming home. i wish more did that (if they're feeling up to it of course) i just love seeing you guys in parent mode 😢
Hi!! I was just wondering if maybe you guys could try a sound machine next to her bassinet and see if it helps her stay sleeping?! My son is 2 & he uses it for all naps and bedtime STILL!! We use the Hatch one. ❤❤ ya’ll are so patient during this time, you’re doing amazing.
Yay I've been excited to see this I know you guys going to do amazing I know the first night is always the toughest but you guys are Rockstar parents and I know you're going to do such an amazing job with baby Luna
The easiest way I could get my kiddos to lay down away from me when nursing was to place a heating pad in the bassinet while I was feeding, and then remove it before putting bub down. We set it on low/medium.
You might have to start waking Stephen up more aggressively haha, this happens when I wake my boyfriend up gently. They are essentially in a state of sleep walking so you rly have to rattle them to get them awake haha
It’ll get better soon! If you don’t have one you should try white noise machine it helped mine so much I got one from Walmart for like $19 it’s got a nightlight
Stephen after waking up is probably the funniest person ever 😂😂
Ik bro don’t even know what he is talking about it’s so funny 😅😅
Then he started to freak Madeline out 😅😅
I was seriously laughing so hard hahahaha

They also will sleep through noise, music, voices, etc. You have to be at your normal noise levels. If I had been a working more outside of home mom I would have pumped on the regular.
She’s beautiful and your family is cute. Congratulations 🎈
hi! i’m pregnant with my first baby and i was wondering what you mean by 6, 10 and 2? 6pm, 10pm and 2am? Thank you 💕
Y’all are doing amazing!
You guys are amazing parents , Luna is absolutely precious
I always kept a changing bag next to my bed & it saved me looking for it all in the night, bless you both your doing great 😊
I love it how you exactly are showing how it is being a newborn parent for the first time.
The casual “you’re still patting my back” 😂
Stephen in the middle of the night is hilarious 😂😂
Oh.. the first 4-6 weeks is the toughest.
I’m having my first baby in august and this is very helpful!! thank you for documenting this ❤🎉
Mom and Dad are doing amazing 🩷🩷
Ahh thank you so much for documenting this!! I’m due in April and always so curious about how this looks!
Stevens reaction to waking was freaking priceless 😂😂😂
My son is 3 months and he did the same thing at night. He has been cosleeping with us till now. We have finally got him to sleep in the bassinet. Cosleeping was the only way I could get some sleep. The first 2 weeks of him being born we contact slept cause as soon as I put him down he woke up. Also if you guys are doing pacifiers that might help keep her content instead of using your boob as her human pacifier. I loveeeeee the tommee tippee ultralight pacifier!
It does get better hang in there and take all the newborn cuddles in cause they grow so fast ❤️
Congraduations Madeline and Stephen she’s so cute ☺️❤️
no you both did so great for the first night!!!❤
Steven half asleep is like that one time I git high lmao. You guys are great parents already lol
I love how real this was. Thank you ♥️
Lunas gorgeous just like her mom and I am sure she will be just as kind as You and stephen ❤️ 💕
Awe this is so sweet welcome to parenthood you guys are doing great ❤❤
I LOVE YALL SO MUCH YOU MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN MY LIFE
im lovinggggg this new family content sooooo wholesome and beautiful
“I repeat .. I re peat .. daddy.. let’s gooooooo” 😅 he’s hilarious when he can’t wake himself up.
Your amazing inspirational parents, daughter is adorable,
It takes 3 months for baby's to relise they have been born...its considered the 4th trimester..and you just have to ride it out...expect life to be absolutely nuts and sleepless for months...its hard at the time but later it feels like this phase is 5 seconds long in comparison...sending love blessings to you both.
Luna is so cute ❤❤ and Stephen after waking up is hilarious 😂😂
Congratulations she is so beautiful 🥰
stephen being delirious is taking me OUT 😭😭
i don't think i've ever seen a youtube couple post the first night after coming home. i wish more did that (if they're feeling up to it of course) i just love seeing you guys in parent mode 😢
