They started the day they hired Steve Nash, they got worse when they then hired Mike D’antoni, and the cherry on the cake was adding arguably the guy who puts the least effort in on defense in the entire league, James Harden. Those 3 are the reason the Nets defense sucks and not because of the centers. Hope that makes more sense.

KD right now is a top 15 player all time and if he wins a chip and another finals MVP this season then he probably be too 10 all time. @Adyan Chowdhury I was referring to when Casey mentioned their defensive problems start with the paint. They don’t. They started the day they hired Steve Nash, they got worse when they then hired Mike D’antoni, and the cherry on the cake was adding arguably the guy who puts the least effort in on defense in the entire league, James Harden. Those 3 are the reason the Nets defense sucks and not because of the centers. Hope that makes more sense.

Honestly, I think KD/James have a better chance if Kyrie was the injured one. They have a natural flow together. Harden kind of impressed me (I would have never said this a year ago), by being open to a new playing style with them. The Nets with KD & Harden on the floor are more impressive/dangerous to me than the Nets with KD & Kyrie on the floor. I don't want them to win the chip, though. Not a Kyrie fan...

Disagree- KD already damaged his legacy going to the Warriors so staying there wouldn't have improved it, he would be criticised for not leaving so he's done the right thing going to Brooklyn. People already said his rings at Golden State 'don't count' so imagine if he won a few more there. Just get the impression anything and everything he does will always be criticised ever since he left OKC for the Warriors. I do agree though that the prospect of the Nets getting it together with their Big 3 in time to win the East and beat the Lakers is a pretty tough ask but not an impossible one. That and interior defence are the two things that are going to challenge the Nets if they want to win a championship this season.
He didn’t damage anything. Super teams have always existed in one way shape or form and him going to the Warriors was a good move for him but unpopular with fans. KD right now is a top 15 player all time and if he wins a chip and another finals MVP this season then he probably be too 10 all time. Case in point is that OKC didn’t do anything since KD left which proves how valuable he was even more than the beloved Russ. He’s not a traditional superstar and does things that run fans the wrong way all time like trolling on Twitter and arguing with people which makes him more human in my opinion and more relatable since Basketball players aren’t robots and none of his off-court antics seem to affect his play at all.
