Could you use any lubricant for for when you mock it up around 3:00? Just curious. This looks clean!

      Thanks!
We use a silicone lube to mock up the pieces so they slide completely into the hubs and so they can be easily pulled out after they've cooled. Then the lube is wiped away.
The lube we use is Molykote 111. It's expensive but we already stock it for multiple applications.

@@Up-CountryElectric Think I have some of this in my drawer for servicing my water softener. DOW 111 Valve Lubricant and Sealant, big green tube here. It is a very very thick heavy weight like Vaseline texture, very difficult to wash away. It sticks to objects intended for infinity. Consistency is by far thicker than any automotive grease I've ever used.
Maybe the reason they use the DOW silicone, the particular silicone sealant is easily dissolved by the PVC cleaner and cement? From my experience, I would absolutely never use any type of oil/lubricant on anything prior to painting, cementing or gluing. However, seems they have an apparently good workflow, using only on the much larger and heavier PVC. Typically, and from my experience using the DOW 111 silicone, it is very difficult to wash cleanly away, prior to gluing/cementing/painting. I would definitely be washing first, wiping the excess with a rage, then alternating washing with hot Dawn dish washing soap and wiping with acetone (on the fitting only), prior to cementing. Another noteworthy aspect, think they stated the conduit is being back-filled by concrete, as such, only needs to be a water tight connection, versus a connection exposed to stress.
Looks like an expensive job, so guessing they've performed some aggressive research prior to choosing and using silicone. Might be, their Molykote is completely different from DOW 111 Valve Lubricant and Sealant.
FYI: There also the Ideal pull line lubricant containing likely Isopropyl alcohol like liquid, and likely far easier washing away prior to cementing?
Guessing also, talcum powder (or corn starch) might be much easier to clean away than a silicone lubricant. Might try using cornstarch within the next week.

@@rogerxxxxxxxthat's very interesting and excellent observations. I wanna try powder now 😅 as that sounds even faster than smearing on grease.

What are the plugs you mentioned to keep the pipe round and avoid it being distorted? Could you share the brand/model number? I have heard of plugs being used to increase heat up time when pipe is in a hot box, haven’t heard it used to keep the pipe round through out the length. I believe Rackateers makes a spring you can insert into PVC to help create even bends without worry of pipe distortion.
