    Just ordered one bc of your video. Does this have a function so that I can control more that 8 channels levels for mixing without having to buy expansion?

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If I understand your question properly, yes. You can bank left and right in groups of 8 or single tracks so you can cover your entire mix with one controller. It’s always in sequential banks. You are not assigning. You move across your mix in groups.

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi There. There is a setting in Logic Pro in the control surfaces section "Touching fader selects track". Not sure about other DAWs. In some cases it might be automatic. In the case of Logic you have to turn this feature on in settings. So now all of the faders respond to touch. Did that answer your question?

    Hi. Thanks for the demo! One question if you don't mind: could the faders be used to change/automate parameters of samples libraries in Kontakt (I'm in Cubase)? Like the dynamics or the vibrato of a string patch for instance (Spitfire, Cinematic Strings, whatever...). Thanks a lot.

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My pleasure. This is a Midi controller so in theory it can be mapped to access virtually any function within your DAW. Now, I haven't used Kontakt so I don't want to give you misinformation but I have been able to use the G2 with virtually any plugin I have tried it with. That being said, it's important to be realistic. Think of it like a mix desk with added programmable features. Some plugins have so many variables. With a single scribble strip you would have to page through endless screens to find your parameter. But that would be the same for any controller with this form factor. For example, the Schepps Omni Channel plugin has dozens of pages to move through. I find it too difficult to use the controller for this plugin. Now for mixing, levels, eq and compressors and any plugins that are not too deep you have great control. That's where this product shines for me. Hope that helps.

    • @ludovicv1163
      @ludovicv1163 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LonelyRocker Thanks for taking the time to answer me !! Indeed a great product. And it can always be complemented by a simple midi controller for assignable parameters in Kontakt if ever needed... I guess that would be a nice combination. Anyway, thanks again.

      Thanks for following my channel. It's hard for me to diagnose that from here. There is a calibration mode for the faders. If you power on the unit while holding the record arm button for each track you will enter different modes for each different track button. Fader calibration is track 2 I think...be careful in there though :)

    • @LonelyRocker

    So I finally took the plunge and purchased the G2. My only complaint so far, is that the indentation in the jog wheel is too small for a finger, so my finger slips off. Quick question, does this have track follow? (If your select a track from the computer, lets say track 26, does the Qcon automatically show you this track and adjusts the fader to the volume its currently in) ? Been searching for this for months, can't seem to find it.

      @LonelyRocker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much and thrilled you subbed. Appreciate that!! Yes, if you click on a track in your DAW it The G2 jumps to control that track and vice versa. If you simply touch a fader, it highlights the track in your DAW. If you move a volume up and down in your DAW, the motorized faders respond in real time. I like to scare my kids ;-) The only expectation I would measure is plugins. While you can control plugins too, plugins can be so different. Especially those with tons of parameters. So I still use my mouse for those. But you can control plugin parameters with the pan pots once you get the hang of it. It's a great unit! Let me know if you grab it.

    @Ian-gw2vx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    my QCon Pro G2 does not follow fader touching like yours does. ie, it doesn't auto select track when touch them, I have to press the select button to get it to light. It doesn't seem to work that well with Reaper as the solo buttons do not light up when you select them. Metronome button does not work and much more niggles like this.

    • @LonelyRocker
      @LonelyRocker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't speak for Reaper because I don't use it but in Logic there is a setting to recognize the touch of a fader that was set to off by default. Perhaps Reaper has something similar. With so many DAWs it is very difficult for third-party controllers to be perfect. This applies to ALL controller manufacturers. But check in with Icon support and there is a Qcon Users Group on Facebook. PErhaps you'll find another Reaper user who experienced the same thing. Good luck!

    I wish they had not used a back light color of blue but instead just used white text over a black background. This is much easier to see! They also could have used square segments for the meter bridge instead of tiny balls. There seems to be much wasted space on the unit! So much space between the faders and the scribble strip display!
    I just wish Mackie would have updated the Orginal HUI. To date I cant find anything that beats the look and feel of the HUI!

    • @LonelyRocker

      I don't have any insight into their manufacturing process but many feature decisions are influenced by cost. I know Icon tries to keep their costs down so there are clearly some compromises. But for the price point the unit is very solid and substantial. and looks great on the desk.

      Well, if you are already in touch with Icon I'll let their expertise guide you. If there is a solution, they will find it for you. I don't use Reason so I can't really say. What I can say is the device is designed with the Mackie Protocol. So any device utilizing this protocol will communicate with your DAW in a similar way. Some controllers are designed for specific DAWs ( Like Presonus and Avid) but add Mackie Protocol to cover off more DAWs. Whatever issues you are having may be consistent with other controllers as well. You might want to reach out to Reason support as well to get their recommendations.
