the waterwraith imo isn't deadly as a boss fight, you can demolish it if you have even 1 purple pikmin. otherwise it's deadly. the man at legs is wayyyy easier in pikmin 4 tho due to oatchi
The only deadly was man at legs, the rest were easy esp smokey progg. I hate how much of a joke smokey progg was in this game, I was so excited to see him and then he was gone.

If you just run into his head or the front of his body it’s fine. It has a pretty big hit box and even if you do take damage, you’ll probably have a million of bones to heal him with bc you get one after one upgrade.

honestly i think it'd be more valuable to know how MANY rock pikmin it takes to nuke an enemy, rather than how hard it is to use oatchi rush on an enemy with rocks.
You don't have to whistle your pikmin back immediately to rush, like at 0:57 and 1:06, you could have gotten a quicker kill just from the pikmin running back to attack the enemy.

In my opinion I think the sovereign bulblax is way harder than just hard, especially when you just find them about and don't have 100 rock pikmin just on hand just in case.
@@dog7676I think it's because the charge in this game works the same as throwing them, instead of the normal ground charge you do with the captain. the throw impact deals lots of damage with the rock pikmin, compared to their rush being normal damage.
rock pikmin are pre4ty helpful against the empress bulblax, considering they're immune to being crushed. and with the piktophone, that fight'll be a complete breeze.

i've had a friend genuinely try to convince me that rock pikmin need a buff because purples are in the game, LMAO. trust me, i've tried both firsthand and can EASILY tell you... that their strengths are both situational in this game and whichever one is better depends more on what your build is, which onions you have, what skills you have on oatchi, how many flarlics you have, how many pikmin you're willing to bring with you in the moment, and if you're playing co-op or not. ESPECIALLY for which enemies you're fighting and how many pikmin you're willing to commit to that. this really isn't a game where you can just use only one strategy and call yourself good or optimal. and i wish people stopped trying to apply a tier-list mentality to a series that absolutely doesn't work with that mindset.
Largely agree. However I have yet to see anything top 50 glow and 50 purples. Pretty much everything dies instantly to glowmob + purple spam, but I imagine rocks can force a similar effect.
Imo I've always, and will continue to play the series just using my favourite types of pikmin (50 yellows, 50 blues) and even tho it comes from the fact that electricity was deadly in pikmin 2, I feel that you really can just use any pikmin you like. Pikmin 4 was the first game I was finally able to control 100 whites, and you could bet your ass I wish more than anything I could have started with the white jewel. I feel the only thing pikmin 4 got dead wrong was hiding all of the onions to later stages. The game is easy, enemies are lazy, and you'll never *genuinely* need to farm pikmin. At this point, every pikmin has a use, whether it be collection, speed, battle, there's alot to consider in these games thats not just... combat Not to mention dog just absolutely destroys every enemy and is literally invincible so the whole "tier list" mentality is stupid, pikmin types dont matter in a world where dog can rush, stun, and kill in 4 bites lol

Rock pikmin are literally my least favorite kind. Purples (and bombs) replace them in literally every scenario, and now they have their own onion so rocks are just straight up useless.
literally no? have you actually tried using rock pikmin in the game, in a playthrough? or do you have that opinion because its hard to use them in the one dandori mission when you're only given 15 and because purple pikmin existing VAGUELY resembles the "purple pikmin OP" joke? have you actually tried this playstyle or are you shitting on the concept of it? purple pikmin have lower DPS because their bonus damage is only activated on throw, making them a much worse choice for enemies that shake pikmin off quickly. i would much rather use a medium sized army of rocks against an enemy like the burrowing snagret or small emperor bulblax, than try to chuck purples at them. you need an example where rock pikmin are a MUCH better choice? literally every floor of cavern of the king between floor 1-8 is filled with enemies that are better suited for rock pikmin. meanwhile, the purple onion is locked behind optional side content that takes an in-game day to do, as well as clearing an ENTIRE SIDE CAMPAIGN, and is designed to be cleared after you have several upgrades. obtaining purple pikmin requires an extensive amount of time, in a game where success is measured by time. i can think of several scenarios where obtaining purple pikmin (or worse, letting them die), is a waste of resources and time. this is on top of rock pikmin not being slow as shit, and purples being vulnerable to literally every damage type in the game. they couldn't even keep an immunity to mitites in this game! that was their ONLY resistance in pikmin 2, and they just forgot about it! and bombs make purple pikmin a waste as well, so there's no point! point is theres no useless or universally better pikmin, people are just scared to try one combat strategy because they're scared to try more than one strategy in the game.

I feel like this speaks more to how strong Oatchi's rush ability is than anything else.
I think Oatchi's rush snergizes really well with rocks. Even more than purples.

I kill it 1 hit whit 30 Red pikmin and 20 ice he dn'dt even got froze
he still has 5x less hp than the original Emperor Bulblax and his attacks have almost 2x less range lol

Rocks Pikmin are hallow on the inside and guns have the capability to break certain rocks.
bullets can break rocks though, and rock pikmin sadly aren't impenetrable. some monsters jaws can break them
