I took delivery of my 2021 F150 Regular Cab XLT (301a) 4x4 5.0L on April 5th. It's also Space White. I absolutely love this color, in person it's amazing. The only "Mods" I've done so far is leveling (Coilovers), Lariat 18" Wheels with Cooper Tires. I'm going to put winter tires on the 17" wheels that came stock with the truck. Anyway, this will be my daily truck and hope to have it a very long time, so I'm not going to be modifying the drive train whatsoever. Bottom line, I'll continue to enjoy your vids and simply live vicariously through you guys with the modifications you do, etc.
My 2019 F150 2.7 EcoBoost has been a great truck for all 44,000 miles. I romp on it all day as i drive from jobsite to jobsite. Payload is always being used in the bed with roofing materials and all my repair tools. Just oil changes so far...
My 2021 is on the way. However, I do not understand everyone saying their 10 speed is clunky. My 2020 was clunky for the first day and then smoothed out and has been fine ever since. I hope my 2021 does not have the problem. Having said that, the rust issue did not start in 2021, this is just when everyone started noticing it. My 2020 had the same rust off the lot here in GA, in addition to the areas on the 2021s, the body on frame mount brackets are rusted on mine. I checked the trucks on the lot at this time and every one of them had rust even the ones built-in 2019. My friend had an early 2019 or 2018 build and it did not have a spec of rust, so the problem might have started in mid to late 2019. Thanks for the content guys!
I bought new: a 2018 f150 3.5 and 10 spd was clunky. Put 15,900 miles on it. a 2019 f250 6.7 diesel and the 6-spd was clunky (2nd to 1st) put 53,000 miles on it a 2020 f150 3.5 EB and it’s 10-spd is also clunky. 12,500 miles on it so far So, yeah they’re all kinda clunky, but they seem to work fine overall.
Thanks for the honesty. For $60K+ its just too many issues, but I am seeing other brands with issues as well. All these trucks are priced too high for the issues they are having and god help if you have to go back and visit the snake bed at the dealer’s service department.
Appreciate the information. I bought a 2021 XLT Sport in March of 2021. Initially loved it. I bought it 3 hours from home, so the interstate ride home was a dream. However, as days went on, I started noticing little things I didn’t like on everyday roads. I’m not rich, so I don’t get to buy new often, and I know a first year model always has problems, but for a $57k sticker (paid $46k), I expected some of the basic problems to go away. (1) Shifting is very annoying and “clunky.” Not clunking sounds, but like the transmission doesn’t know where to go. And it’s very pronounced on hilly roads. To the point I worry about a shortened transmission lifespan. (2) Sliding rear glass leaks at car washes. I know, I know, don’t spray it directly, but is that really the answer for a $57k truck? Don’t use automatic car washes? And worse yet, they replaced the complete back glass once and the new one does the same thing. (3) Interior noise, I believe coming from the passenger door. I believe where the armrest meets the door panel, it’s such a tight fit that it constantly rubs. So, since I can’t make it go away, I turn the radio up louder. (4) Apple CarPlay has to cycle through any music app before it stays running. Regardless the app (I use Amazon Music), the music starts and runs for a bit before shutting the music off and I have to manually restart the music app. Not always the same amount of time before it does this, either, so it’s hard to troubleshoot. (5) Front end clunking. I’ve recently noticed an audible “clunk” when turning onto or off of any incline, such as a parking lot entrance/exit. Nothing crazy as far as the incline, but the clunk is unnerving. I’m sure there are more things to come, but if I could find something affordable to trade into, I’d drop this truck back into the market today. The dealership I purchased from is nearly 3 hours away and they know this, so they don’t reply to my emails. My local dealership just says, “well, that’s just how these things do…” Ford trucks used to be the standard. I could never afford a new Ford, so I always wanted a new F-150 at some point in my life. I researched for over a year before I bought this and obviously should’ve researched or waited longer. Some days I feel like I’m just overreacting. Then, I think about the money and I bought this truck so I could enjoy driving again. I end up cussing this thing every time I take it out now. Probably not the epitome of enjoyable driving.
Ive been in the business for 42 years. Worked for a Ford Dealership prepping and spraying cars for 22 years. Had every car in North America at one time or another. Just retired and bought the 2021 3.5 Sport Lariat. I’m very happy with it. It also has the tranny searching for a gear at times. Apparently once they adjust it everything with be fine. I’ve always had good luck with Ford. GM, Chrysler have lousy warranty coverage and the dealers are less caring I find. See someone at your local Ford Dealer, just need to get to the right person and create a relationship. I’m sure it will be fine. Sucks that now you have a bad taste in your mouth, it will go away eventually.
I have had, or driven, Fords from 1971 to my 2020 F250 today ... they ALL have rear end clunk - there is slack or tolerance in the rear axle, u joints, etc. and they all clunk. Shift from D to R and back and you get two distinct drive train noises ... that being said - they (like most vehicles on the road today) are not perfect, but get the job done and last a long time.
I enjoy your guys honesty. Thanks for explaining why things do what they do. Its a motor, its going to make noise. people want it to be quiet as a mouse...not possible.
Thanks guys. Your videos are always informative. Pay no mind to the “know-it-alls” who enjoy telling the rest of us how dumb we are. Look forward to your next videos.
excellent to find a video with straight and honest comments about their truck. No truck is ever perfect. but key will be if the Ford Warranty will take care of some of those things for you.
2021 3.5 EB zero oil consumption 2000 miles. Mine came equipped without auto stop/start from factory. Transmission shudder under lugging (1000 to 1500 rpm) in gears above 5th started 900 miles. Shudder greatly reduces once upshift occurs. Transmission slip from 1st to Second under light to medium acceleration from park to drive start off. Scheduled to bring into dealer 1/20/22 to diagnose, dealer said they have replaced tranny in four 2021’s so far due to same issues I’m describing. Clutch plates found to be incorrectly machined in those 4 trucks.
Thanks for confirming my thoughts about Android Airplay. I have a ‘21 F150 XLT and was constantly frustrated with the app while connected via Bluetooth. I’ll follow your advice and simply plug the phone in when I want to use it. Subscribed😀
I just received delivery on an ordered 2022 Lariat 5.0 2WD Super Cab and 6.5 foot bed through CostCo. Your channel is definitely getting me off to the right start with things to document and keep an eye out for. Thank you.
How long was your wait time? I just got confirmation of my order of a 2022 5.0 4x4 Super Cab in Space White yesterday. They are telling me its somewhere around 2-3 months, was this the same for you?
@@matthewmorales1798- My salesman told me the same. But it actually arrived in California almost 2 months to the day. The stealer tried to throw on some last minute dealer add-ons, like flashing brake lights, the day they received the truck.
Hi Sam , I really like your channel just have to say i also bought a 2021 f-150 with the 5.0 v8 at the same miles down the same on oil. I'm going to correct you on where you think that trucks from Dearborn have more rust underneath well my truck has a lot less rust than yours! Your theory that trucks are more rusty from Dearborn is not true! I really do appreciate all your guys content keep up the great work
Great video. Some of these issues are incredibly disappointing and reflect very poorly on Ford’s quality and reliability. These issues simply should not be happening, especially on a brand new $60K+ vehicle.
I sold my 2020 f150 after MAJOR problems. You’re right about the $60k part too. Totally unacceptable, have a Tacoma now and this thing is mechanically perfect 👌
@@CJColvin it was the 2.7 ecoboost. Supposed to be the most reliable because that was when Ford was having major problems with their 5.0 engines burning oil due to them being cheap and not sleeving the cylinders, but using an enamel coating. The 2018-2020 5.0s had catastrophic engine failures at less than 5000 miles.
Loving my 2021 f150 plantnium it's such a awesome ride. Coming from a 2007 xlt. Sitting in traffic is not really bad anymore with ventilated and multi contour seats going
At least you can check the oil without a step stool, my '14 is impossible to check standing on the ground and I'm 6 feet tall. But I will say at 140k miles it doesn't use any oil. I change it every 5-6k miles.
Great 2021 f150 video! Thanks guys! I've got a 12 5.0 and LOVE IT. Oz tuned, full magnaflow exhaust system and a K&N. I'd love to do a GT intake manifold and long tube headers. Maybe next year. The next f150 I want is a 15-17 or a 2021.
Thanks for all the updates Guys! My 22 Tremor should be delivered at the end of the month.. almost 7 months exactly from order to "Hopefully" receiving it! I just wanted to share a product for your squirrel or rodent problem I found thru a friend. Its a 12v 24v under hood Animal repeller.. Rats mice squirrels maybe even the neighbor! There is a 2 pack on *$&@zon for $56.00. I will definitely be ordering these for my new truck as I live in the woods in Maine. Thought I would share Cheers!
@Greg B My 2011 Ford F150 with the 5.0L Coyote V8 has 138,000 miles and still going strong and its a beast and it sounds like a beast with the Borla ATAK exhaust on it. Yes its also a 6-speed as well.
#9, amsoil has an undertreatment spray to protect the undercarraige or steel-it. Steel-it is alot more expensive but contains stainless steel to protect metal.
I literally brushed Black Trem Clad on the rear end after rubbing a bit with a steel brush. Allowed it to dry for a week then bought a spray bomb of Ear Wax Undercoat looks real good and after 4 months it’s not showing any signs of rust..
Glad I went with a Kansas City plant October 2020 build date 2020 f150 3.5 EB. Ford always seems to get most all the bugs out right at the end of a body style run.
The eTorque mild hybrid system on my RAM 1500 5.7L Hemi has a 48V electrical motor that modulates engine RPM to make 8 speed shifting smooth as silk (imperceptable) while also regenerating electrical energy during upshifting and braking.
I’ve had issues about every 3 days with apple car play freezing for 10 to 15 minutes. I’ve put 5k miles on my 21 5.0 f150 and have had almost all the same issues you’ve had... minus the squirrel 😂
I had a 2020 with the 5.0 and whenever I would drive slow through the neighborhood the shifting was clunky but not a problem out on the road. In fact the 5.0 loves to haul ass. I had to trade up to a f250 for towing but I'm looking forward to my next F150 5.0. As for the comments about Android Auto it does have issues but Apple Car Play does as well especially when using the Bluetooth connection. Less issues with using USB.
The rust is ridiculous. Mine was slower developing than others, but still ridiculous! you have a nice shiny truck and from the back, the bottom looks all rusty.
very nice video 👍💪 i have 2017 f150 v8 and i was having problem with squeirrels two times they destroy my cables but i install this box MouseBlocker 61924 Ultrasonic Mouse Blocker Pro, 12 Volt Rodent Deterrent, and no more problem with them! other that that no problem with my truck only two years ago i have issue with vacum grinding noise when accelerating but they change IWEs that are used to engaged 4WD.
My powerboost is alittle clunky when it shifts from 1st to 3rd, and on downshifts here and there, but when I put it in tow haul it stops all that gear skipping nonsense and smooths out on upshifts, and downshifts. But in tow haul it doesn't run on just electric and I don't get 20+ mpg. I need a flash or something to stop the gear skipping in all other modes
I have issues with my 2021 tail gate opening Ford replaced everything inside but still didn’t work right found out the latch pin was bent and it was binding up
Thanks guys for your videos. I’m not too sure about the belt. We’re replacing the second 1.0 liter because of belt failure with 79 to 83k in three months. Maybe the wet timing belt went first, but the oil was shredded. Probably made of the material. I cannot comment on the oil maintenance schedule. We’ll see ...hope it’s good in the 5.0. Planning on getting a F150 Tremor. Would prefer 5.0, but not sure now. I love the sound of my ‘19 5.0 Oatie. That 6.8 sounds interesting , unless it’s snake oil. Oh, looked at a 21 lariat today, only rust was axle tube ends. Rest looked good. Tube ends looked that way for years. Not show quality paint, could be much better. All the comments about under carriage paint would stop if the factory charged thousands more for show quality paint. On the trans issue. A lot of things going on, computer anticipation and such. Twenty weight ULV atf likes to be warm😎. Thanks for sharing.
I’m starting to feel good about not being able to find a 21 F150. My 2015 has been relatively reliable with a water pump and the fwd actuators going bad in the last year at 62,000 miles but it gets 18 to 19 mpg with the V8 and it doesn’t use an appreciable amount of oil.
I have a 2004 silverado with 276,000 miles on it. It never had transmission issues till 250,00 when I had it rebuilt. And at 220,000 through around 155,000 miles had about the same amount of oil loss and this brand new truck 😂. And as for the rust my truck came from the Canadian GM factory and spent its whole life in texas and as of about a year ago started to see kinda noticeable surface rust. And as for my rear axle it doesn't have really any rust😂. And the best part I have an almost all optioned out truck at 220,000 miles for 5k paid off. So pretty much got the same amount of issues just saved 55,000 dollars. I seriously doubt we will see any trucks 2018 plus reach 250,000 miles like my 04 did, maybe with a Toyota. But Toyota getting rid of there V8 and going twin turbo v6 I'm seriously doubting it. The only truck I really have faith in is the silverado 1500 with the little durmax if the 10 speed can hold up. But to be honest you can't really Blame manufacturers because it's the government putting all the stupid stipulations that are making them unreliable. And I'm gonna be honest fords seem to me to be pretty rough just spent an hour plus through YT comments and forms and couldn't find a single all good report with a new f150 in fact the vast majority seem to be negative. Im not saying ford is bad and anyone else is better but I was just looking into ford and I bet if I look into other brands I would get similar results. In my opinion get an old truck that has stood the test of time and you'll save money and time from being at the dealer about warranty. Although I am curious about the f150 3.0 diesel but don't really trust it because of it being a v6 diesel wich as far as I know hasn't been used by ford ever so completely untested.
I am looking for a used Ford pick ups and I am kind of leery about the 10 speed transmission so my thought is I’m going to try to stay between the 2015 to the 2017. And try to get a 5.0 with the six speed transmission because what I understand everybody’s saying that that is the trucks that hardly have any issues. But I have been looking at the 2021 lariat as well.
@@tilowol yeah I went ahead and decided I bought a 2017 with the 50 andsix speed transmission. I’ve changed the transmission fluid and put an aftermarket pan on it to be able to drain it next. About to do the rear end differential and put a different differential cover on it or I can be able to drain it easier.
I've got the 2022 F150 XLT w/6.5 bed. My only complaint is that it rides like a big car, I intend to put Bilstein 5100's on it but only raise the front an 1". I think that and some Timbrens will help.
Been shopping for a newer F150 but seeing this and all these thats just normal types of stuff makes me steer toward Ram 1500. I know all these brans have issues but i hear more issue from F150 friends and family than i remember back in the day.
Got my truck on Tuesday. I ordered chrome appearance with two tone paint. The bumpers are chrome, not painted. I don’t have any rust on the diff .The only problem so far is the pro backup assist. Instructions say use the sticker but the camera does not recognize it. I believe the 21 is different the the 20. I’m going to try the sensor.
Well I don't have a 5.0 so I can't speak for any of those issues. My 2.7 has been flawless and I really like it. I do have the rust issue on the rear axle. It was like that straight off the lot. I fluid flimed the piss out of it when I got home and I feel much better about that. It's quick and easy and I will just reapply it every oil change. I do have a battery drain issue though. I don't drive my truck very much so if I don't start it every few days the battery will be dead. Hopefully ford has a fix for that soon. Other then that I really enjoy my truck.
Cylinder deactivation will automatically kick in once you have very little throttle input you can notice it if you have any exhaust work done such as the borla atak cat back or maybe you just cut off the res and muffler it starts to sound like it’s echoing and easy fix for this is to just throw the truck in sport mode you don’t gotta do any fancy tuning stuff or risk any electronics just simply switch it into sport mode and cylinders 1. 4. 6. 7. Will start to fire again
Buying my first truck in the very near future. Looking at the F150's, likely an XLT with the 3.5 Ecoboost. These kinds of problems are exactly what I want to hear about so I know what to watch for an how to prevent them if possible. I just found your channel, so I haven't seen much yet - but I'm hoping you have a video covering what sub you went with, I'm definitely going to need a sub with the 8 speaker B&O system.
i got lucky, 2017 sport with 5.0 and 6 speed. almost at 100k and no problems at all. still on all original brakes including pads even fully loaded all the time and pull a trailer once a month.i used forscan to turn off some annoying stuff. no start stop feature either. thankfully
Glad to see y’all talking about these issues as they come up, whether they’re bad or not. I’ll hopefully be ordering a new Ford sometime this year. Considering a refund on my Bronco reservation and instead getting a 2021 F150 XL SuperCab STX FX4 with the 5.0 and 3.73 gears. Also considering a regular cab XLT FX4 with the standard length bed and the same specs. Either one should make a nice overland/camping/mountain biking rig! What do y’all think? Much love from Texas!
The F-150 will be a better daily driver, work vehicle and not give up much on over landing. If you have to hard core off-road the F-150 ain’t the answer. It sounds like you are leaning more toward what the F-150 is great at.
@@BackroadDriver yeah it would definitely be my daily driver. I’ll only be off roading occasionally and I’m sure it won’t be very hardcore stuff. Mostly dirt and gravel trails, but probably not any insane rock crawling. I’ve literally owned nothing but F150s my whole life. A 1997 and two 2004 models. All 4x2, but I’d like to get a 4x4 this time for more versatility. It’ll be my first brand new vehicle ordered from the factory. I’m excited to go through the ordering process! Thanks for the response.
I think any Ford V8 needs to be watched carefully. It’s safe to say that oil consumption is a part of a high horsepower, high compression V8, especially when it is such a small V8.
I purchased a powerboost less than two weeks ago after my first fill up I started getting a fairly loud buzzing sound inside of the cab then the transmission started shifting bad usually between 1st and 2nd gear . After a few more days it started having down shifting issues usually between 2 nd and first . This is not during transfer between electric to gas . The problem I’m having is none of the Ford dealerships around my area has no clue how to work on them . I would not recommend buying one of these 3.5 hybrids until they get the bugs worked out and can actually work on them . The truck is pretty nice and the power is unbelievable but after 8 days of owning the truck I’m scared to take it on a trip. Sad owning a truck that costs nearly 60000 and worried about it breaking down.
Same here, seems to be clunky into and out of 1st. Fuel economy with 275/70R17 average 19.3MPG. Have the same hood issue. XLT with bucket seats and center console, the seats seem smaller and definitely not as comfortable as the ‘18. They had to change something with the seats, not a “typical” ford seat.
Thanks for the video guys! For my fog lights, I have the same ones as you(led outline and led light) I noticed when I bought the truck and one other time that either side will be off while the LED outline strip is on. It has happened to both sides(led strip on and bulb on while other side led strip is on and bulb is off). I cannot manipulate it and haven’t had an issue again in the past week. Any thoughts?
@@BackroadDriver no water or condensation at all. The other time I noticed it was when the wife was driving down the street home(they were both on on both sides) then she hit the driveway to park and the driver side bulb went out but the strip stayed on. I have no clue. Thanks for the reply!!!
I like mine but yes the transmission is clunky af, I’ve got plenty of rust which is a damn shame and I’ve had the 12” screen die randomly a couple times. Hopefully something that is easily corrected
@@BackroadDriver ya I would think so it’s happened twice both times the screen had gotten really hot. Started the truck again in the evening and it booted back up no problem. Finding apple car play to be a bit finicky as we’ll phone loses connection and it just doesn’t work properly. Should be fixed with upcoming updates I would think
I never had ford pickups my wife has had escape flex and explorer they where Al great suvs I always had ram with hemi I like this 150s I was thinking by end of year getting one with 5.0 and leaving it all stock no add ons I don’t tow I’m retired recently from roofing so no heavy loads manly will be daily highway truck not really sure about the 5.0 or 2.7 I’m not real big on turbos what do you guys think?
My 2021 STX 2.7L was built in Dearborn and it also had rusty underbody components and the dealer treated it with anti-rust stuff for free, now it looks all black... but.... days after my brakes squeak a lot in the mornings and when the vehicle has cooled a little after driving, are the brakes contaminated???
Thanks for watching, Andrew! I haven't had any issues with collision warning when nothing is around but it is pretty annoying in a drive-thru. It always seems to activate when you pull up to the next vehicle.
I have a 2021 Ford F150 XLT with the 301A package. I would like to swap the halogen headlight and fog lights assembly for the LED assembly, found in the 302A package. Is it doable? if so, are there any recommendations?
Have you noticed the pebble-like "bump" under the leather on the back of the steering wheel at about the 5:30 position? Dealer ordered a new steering wheel for mine (a blue one for a Limited trim model) to see if it corrects problem; however, other new trucks on the dealer's lot had same issue. What say you?
I just checked mine and I don't have that issue. Hopefully it was just a one-off issue and your new steering wheel will have you literally feeling better about the truck.
Great video sounds like a short in your fog light! Keep those what you like and dislike coming that's the best guage for your viewers! Excellent video!
@@BackroadDriver 😂. I got mine about 2 weeks ago. Have 1300 miles on it. Maybe I'll start to see a drop in MPG. BTW, I LOVE that Falcon suspension level system you did. I'm sold as soon as I get the $2K I'm doing that!
As far as the rust on all these new trucks.. I heard that the these trucks sat in areas where there was grass. Grass is obviously not good for a vehicle (to much moisture). So that makes sense in combination with some of the youtubers and electrical problems... the Freakn field mice having a feast on the Soy covered wiring harness's.
I have a 2019 F-150 Lariat and love it so far. Fixing to order a 2nd 2021 sport F-150 Lariat to add to our fleet. If you could do it again on the 2021 what things would you change at the time of order? Or is the truck outside of things you showed in this video everything you wanted minus the mods that have been done after delivery. thanks
Also, you can look at the Monroney sticker (side window sticker, also available online). On the bottom below all of the options listed near the middle there is a field entitled "final assembly plant". This is especially helpful if you are shopping online, as you can download it and not have to be next to the truck.
I just bought a Silverado LTZ, got all the do-dads on it, quite a bit cheaper than $60k. It has less than 1000 miles on it, super happy with it for now but I know no brand is immune from quirky problems, but I had no problems with the 2015 Chevy I traded in either at 70K miles. I'm not gloating, just keeping my fingers crossed.
I had a 2019 Midnight edition LTZ Texas Edition. A Fine Looking Truck. 360 cameras, blind side, lane departure blah blah blah... But it road horrible and the seats sucked. I hated driving it. As soon as the 2021 F150 came out I went right back to a Kingranch 3.5 Ecoboost. I love the F150. I have none of the issue the coyote has, none of the hood shaking or light flickering.. I get its the same truck just diff engine. Maybe I am just lucky. I have had several new F150's including a 2018 Kingranch with 3.5 ecoboost. Great truck. Then I had a brain fart and traded it for the chevy.....
@@bastiononly1245 It’s irrelevant to me if people believe me or not. Just go ask other Hemi owners... Just research how many Fords are using oil like no tomorrow. Not good there kid. 👍
@@bastiononly1245 My brothers eco boost hasn’t used any. But 6 guys at work use a litre to 2 litres of oil from oil change to oil change on there 5 L’s. So yup I’m going with the MDs possible issue and on all makes. My old GM 6L to 2 litres before an oil change. A little to much I say.

I bought new:
a 2018 f150 3.5 and 10 spd was clunky. Put 15,900 miles on it.
a 2019 f250 6.7 diesel and the 6-spd was clunky (2nd to 1st) put 53,000 miles on it
a 2020 f150 3.5 EB and it’s 10-spd is also clunky. 12,500 miles on it so far
So, yeah they’re all kinda clunky, but they seem to work fine overall.
THANK YOU!!! I was just given a new Lariat with 57 miles on it. This video Is going to help me make it last.
Hilarious next thing rust will be listed as a feature on the Ford brochure and people will still buy them
2021 3.5 EB zero oil consumption 2000 miles.
Got my popcorn ready and waiting for Sam and Brad. I wonder what color shirt Sam will wear.
I really do appreciate all your guys content keep up the great work
Very good content guys; love the transparency.
Thanks Michael! We will always keep it real.
I had tons of rust. I sprayed everything down with Fluid Film it really helped and looks much better.
You need to grind the rust off of it
Great video. Some of these issues are incredibly disappointing and reflect very poorly on Ford’s quality and reliability. These issues simply should not be happening, especially on a brand new $60K+ vehicle.
I totally agree brother.
I sold my 2020 f150 after MAJOR problems. You’re right about the $60k part too. Totally unacceptable, have a Tacoma now and this thing is mechanically perfect 👌
@@timothyday9597 Was it the 5.0 or the EcoBoost.
@@timothyday9597 I hear you brother. Luckily my 2011 Ford F150 with the 5.0L Coyote V8 doesn't suffer from any of these issues.
My 2017 10-Speed has a weird hitch when it goes to 5th gear. It stutters a bit but its mostly smooth after that.
@Greg B 47k. It has been doing that since day one sadly.

Ya Im 5'9 and step stool it is lol
Subscribed - picked up a Kodiac Brown Powerboost Platinum, 3 weeks ago, and its been great so far, 750 miles. Thx for the content guys!
Thanks for the updates. Very much appreciated.
Have you guys heard anything about the 6.8L engine Ford said they were putting in the new 2022 F150's?
Not confirmed but I heard possibly pushrod and replacement for the 5.0.
80 thousand dollar trucks full of issues. Should be a crime
You still have the tremor?
Wow. And I thought it was frame rate and LED issues. That's insane. You boys want to talk about rust huh? Great video boys!
These issues are unacceptable. I'll keep my XL 2016 5.0....for now.
Yep I totally agree brother. Forchauntly my 2011 F150 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 doesn't suffer from any of these issues.
Just came across the channel and subscribed! I'm not a fan of any particular brand, I just like em all. Beautiful F150!
I totally agree brother. As for Trucks Ford makes the best, and as for Muscle cars Dodge makes the best.
Great info. Thanks for sharing. Its a shame fords using that soy based wiring since toyota started 2 years ago and they reported similar problems.
We will be looking for a spray repellent.
The biggest issue with these trucks is that people actually think these things are worth paying 60k +.
Exactly!
Sometimes you dont have a choice i think😒 especially when youre towing heavy things and when you have no idea...i for sure dont want to spend $60k😒

The rust is ridiculous. Mine was slower developing than others, but still ridiculous! you have a nice shiny truck and from the back, the bottom looks all rusty.

i have 2017 f150 v8 and i was having problem with squeirrels two times they destroy my cables but i install this box MouseBlocker 61924 Ultrasonic Mouse Blocker Pro, 12 Volt Rodent Deterrent, and no more problem with them!
other that that no problem with my truck only two years ago i have issue with vacum grinding noise when accelerating but they change IWEs that are used to engaged 4WD.
You’ll have to find something after market because Ford programming is for MPG.

Great info/ video. Just picked up my new F 150. Thanks guys
Congrats Paul!
What subwoofer and amp are you going to add to the B&O system?
U should stay with those years new ones are garbage
Those have just as much problems I hate newer trucks
The only issue I have had with "my new truck" is deciding if I want to put VR 602's on it.
Do it lol!
Lol the lights flashing is cool. That will get all those left lane drivers out of the way.
Do you know the weight difference between the stock wheel & tire combo and the venomrex/ridge grappler?......love the content keep it coming
I just took a scale to our new garage. We may just have to find that out.
How do you shut off the cylinder deactivation from 8 to 4 cylinder?
Cylinder deactivation will automatically kick in once you have very little throttle input you can notice it if you have any exhaust work done such as the borla atak cat back or maybe you just cut off the res and muffler it starts to sound like it’s echoing and easy fix for this is to just throw the truck in sport mode you don’t gotta do any fancy tuning stuff or risk any electronics just simply switch it into sport mode and cylinders 1. 4. 6. 7. Will start to fire again
Keep it in sport mode
Buying my first truck in the very near future. Looking at the F150's, likely an XLT with the 3.5 Ecoboost. These kinds of problems are exactly what I want to hear about so I know what to watch for an how to prevent them if possible. I just found your channel, so I haven't seen much yet - but I'm hoping you have a video covering what sub you went with, I'm definitely going to need a sub with the 8 speaker B&O system.
Get a 21 or 22 silverado the 6.2 is a dream to drive just make sure it aint got the auto start stop / cylinder deactivation
i got lucky, 2017 sport with 5.0 and 6 speed. almost at 100k and no problems at all. still on all original brakes including pads even fully loaded all the time and pull a trailer once a month.i used forscan to turn off some annoying stuff. no start stop feature either. thankfully
Mine hums from 44-49 mph. Also high pitched electrical noise from driver side footwell by OBD port. Been to dealer multiple times.
What can be done about the rust??
There are companies that will spray under the truck (frame, axels, diffs, etc) with a coating that protects and prevents against rust.
Spray with Fluid Film.
A trick i used many years ago on my old falcon is use fish oil as it stops it from rusting.
Spray the rusty areas on the undercarriage with Rust Inhibitor.
All these comments are scaring me away from buying a 2021 f150😂😂 maybe I’ll give it some time haha
Might be one of your last chances to get a fire breathing V8 with high tech and towing capability. Everything is being downsized or federalize!
Drove my truck from Vancouver, WA to TN then had oil changed 2 months later. 1 quart low. The BMW M5 is far worse.
New engines always drink oil at first. It will improve over time. Great video Gents!
Thanks Smitty!
My 2018 diff was rusty, painted it problem solved.
Did you do an oil change before 3,500 miles?
I thought the oil usage problem was fixed by a new voodoo 2 for 2019 but my wife's 5.0 coyote 10 speed auto uses a lot of oil when run hard.
I think any Ford V8 needs to be watched carefully. It’s safe to say that oil consumption is a part of a high horsepower, high compression V8, especially when it is such a small V8.
Ive noticed my headlight got foggy the first time I washed it, so I might have an air leak 🙂🙂🙂
I need to get over there with those guys just to drive the mustangs with them
Good stuff Sam
Im still planning on one later this year
I purchased a powerboost less than two weeks ago after my first fill up I started getting a fairly loud buzzing sound inside of the cab then the transmission started shifting bad usually between 1st and 2nd gear .
That sounds horrible. Is there a bigger dealer you could drive to?
Same here, seems to be clunky into and out of 1st. Fuel economy with 275/70R17 average 19.3MPG. Have the same hood issue. XLT with bucket seats and center console, the seats seem smaller and definitely not as comfortable as the ‘18. They had to change something with the seats, not a “typical” ford seat.
So I just got a 22 Lariat. No volt meter in the DIC? Thanks

Wow so many issues with the new F-150s
Also have you had any problems with the collision warning going off with absolutely nothing near you?
Thanks for watching, Andrew! I haven't had any issues with collision warning when nothing is around but it is pretty annoying in a drive-thru. It always seems to activate when you pull up to the next vehicle.

Or is the truck outside of things you showed in this video everything you wanted minus the mods that have been done after delivery.

Still in the market to buy.. how can I find out if a truck was built in Kansas City or Deerborn?
Also, you can look at the Monroney sticker (side window sticker, also available online). On the bottom below all of the options listed near the middle there is a field entitled "final assembly plant". This is especially helpful if you are shopping online, as you can download it and not have to be next to the truck.
I’ve got a 21 powerboost for sale…
Keep up the great vids! Thx
Sorry but my Chevy Silverado had loads of issues
How’s depreciation a year later?
@@cylevernon It's been the best truck I've ever had. Just drove from Missouri to Florida and back.
Hmmm My 2019 Ram Hemi has 20K miles and hasn’t used a drop yet. I can see an engine taking a little of course but half down the dip stick. Yikes!!
no one believes you.
@@bastiononly1245 It’s irrelevant to me if people believe me or not. Just go ask other Hemi owners... Just research how many Fords are using oil like no tomorrow. Not good there kid. 👍
@@ramrider1453 mine hasn’t used a drop in 100k miles
@@bastiononly1245 My brothers eco boost hasn’t used any. But 6 guys at work use a litre to 2 litres of oil from oil change to oil change on there 5 L’s. Some say it’s because of the mds but who knows. I don’t even want the MDS on my Hemi. I manually shut it off. Just in case the lifters don’t get enough. Older Ford 5L didn’t have that problem as bad. So yup I’m going with the MDs possible issue and on all makes. My old GM 6L to 2 litres before an oil change. A little to much I say.
