Have used H&G for my whole house filtration (the 3 tank version). It was great for 2-3 months. Waste of money imo. I ended up getting the Aquasana system and it’s still going strong nearly 4 years later. A lot more expensive but so worth it. Although I’ve had a negative experience with H&G, I’m not against trying something like this for mobility. It’s cheaper than the one I currently use. 😊😊😊
Yeah this kit is just a Tank and fittings with resin in it. There is no proprietary stuff or specialized cartridges. Whether the company is any good or not for this filter is not a factor. The tank is good quality fiberglass and the lid thick durable plastic with good quality brass fittings. I don't know anything about H&G as a company. Thanks for watching and sharing. I appreciate it
@@HawaiiDetailing Absolutely buddy. I just spent about 40 hours 3 stage cut & polishing my 370Z. Freakin' thing looks incredible! I did the entire interior also including extracting all the fabrics and cleaning and coating the leather. Ready for the summer.
Buying distilled water at a buck a gallon is still the most affordable spotless rinse option. Just hook it up to a Ryobi cordless pressure washer. And if you have a dehumidifier you're making distilled water for free
if it really gives 500 gallons this is the play but i doubt it, it depends how hard is your water, it probably gives 100 gallons of real Di water if you are on a 250+ scale
I bought that cheap distilled water and was very disappointed when it left stains like tap water. I guess it's good just for ironing clothes and windshield washer fluid.
Thanks for watching. Check here for additional details and pictures of my proffered set ups with links to everything you need to do a budget version or to convert it to a full blown bypass system. www.hawaiidetailing.com/water-deionizer
Thanks for the review! Just curious....have you measured the water tds coming out of the pressure washer on your final rinse? I've heard that some don't work well using a pressure washer because water flow is too fast through the resin.
My tap water is really good at a reading of 050 TDS. Currently if I need 000 TDS water I take a couple of 5-gallon buckets to my local grocery store and fill them in the reverse osmosis drinking water dispenser machine for $.50 a gallon. Then I have a couple of ways to dispense the water, I have a hand held power washer with a 50' syphon hose, and recently I bought a RYOBI 40v battery powered 1500 psi pressure washer that can also use a 3' syphon hose, it works great, and I can take my buckets of water and the pressure washer anywhere and only have to pop the hatch and roll out the 50" Uberflex. I am going to look into this, as filling my bucket at home would be nice and with my tap water being 050 TDS the risen should last a long time.
Short of Deionizer water, my go to is Superior Formula 4 @ 10- 1 on final rinse @ $23 gal, that's 10 gals of product, it's economical and goes along way for no water spots. Use it in your canon or sprayer, and blow off and wipe down, and leaves a sacrificial topper.
I hung on to it. Have another full detail vid on it soon. Going to polish and coat. Use all my faves and do it front to back. Might not be as deep as the Y video but hopefully will have some cool stuff to share. Thanks.
Just ordered one. This is just perfectly what I need. I read one review on Amazon where someone saying that it only has a maximum of 1.6 GPM. How is this with the active 2.0? Speaking of the active 2.0.. can you recommend me a cheapo foam cannon thats compatible? I already have a pf22.2 as my primary
Hey Jeremy- will this help take salt out of the water as well as minerals? I’ve got slightly salty water and it’s a pain to deal with. Only other option I’ve heard is RO and that’s a bit pricey.
You need to start by getting a TDS meter and figuring out what your source water is at. If you’re over 200 ppm then you should just get an RO unit. They’re really not that much more expensive than this standalone DI unit. If you can taste salt in your water, it’s safe to assume you have fairly high TDS, and that means you’re going to burn through the resin quite fast. They claim a 500 gallon capacity based on 200 TDS, so if you’re around 400 you’re only get half of that. It’ll cost about $70 every time you need to replace the resin (which also adds 4L of microplastics into the environment) so your long-term cost could be quite significant.
if your water is 164ppm, you will roughly get 900 gallons of spot-free water using 1/2 cubic foot tank ....1 cubic foot tank close to 1600 gallons. I don't know what a 1/2 or 1 CF of DI costs in Hawaii but am sure it is pricier than here in Arizona as its around $ 245 for a CF.
Nice find! Bookmarked for when I can justify it 😅. My driveway gets intense sunlight past 9am all day so I am not comfortable washing my minivan as much as it deserves because it takes so long to do most of the manual steps that it will get water spots on the moon roof. Still kinda sad to waste ~6 gallons of water - do you use that flushing water for anything?
I'll be curious how long the tank will last. I see mixed reviews on the link. I got a similar one on amazon for 99 bucks and it probably lasted only about 50 gallons 😢
There is 4L of mixed resin in there. It will last as long as any other kit with 4L of resin. The only consequence to a smaller tank is changing resin more often. The price to use the resin is still the same unless you buy it in bulk and get a deal. It also depends on starting water quality. If its at 400ppm it will last 1/2 as long as 200ppm. Mine is at 165 so it should give some good life. Most people that really want these kits have super hard water and chew through filter media because of it. Thanks for watching
@HawaiiDetailing yup understood and my water is definitely on the harder side. I'm mobile so different houses vary for sure. I was surprised how quick mine went. I think it holds half that amount of resin as yours. Refilling is definitely a pain. I may be trying one that had a refillable cartridge that's way easier to fill than trying to stick the tube down into the filled canister. Thanks for sharing always!
When I go to touchless car wash, I do the usual foam, cleaning but I never use "rinse" option. I always rinse my car with deionized water option or so called "polishing" water. Edit: I live in an apartment block without a garage, so obviously manual touchless carwash is my best bet !
You can consider rinseless wash also. Great option if the car is not that dirty. I do it all the time and have made several videos about it. I agree with final rinse with water deionizer to prolong filter life. Just make sure you thoroughly rinse when you do it.
I have a Kranzle 1622 TS on my mobile unit, which includes a 100-gallon water tank. Since I don't have the continuous water flow provided by a garden hose, do you think the Kranzle will be able to pump water through the deionizer effectively?
No matter what system you use it is going to be used up way faster. I could not say for sure but might be worth investigating how long would 4L of resin last at that ppm?
It depends on the hardness of your water. 500 is assuming you have low TDS water. Resin is resin so it really does not matter what the brand of the tank. The results are all based on your local water quality.
A $100 Ro/Di aquarium filter into a cheap RV water tank for pure 0 ppm water is cheapest. Why people don’t know this is insane. Why a company doesn’t make an Ro/di kit is mind blowing. Oh wait, they want to sell you 10lbs of virgin mix bed resin every year.
