🤯🤯🤯 That's absolutely nuts dude. I'm sorry, I'm terrible with math...but after your resin mod and the new system, you're going to get over 10,000 gallons of 0ppm water with the same amount of resin? Opposed to the 300 gallons you were getting before? Please correct me if I'm wrong here!
I know pretty mind blowing right? Here’s how I look at it and I could also be doing my math wrong :) I suck at math but I welcome anyone reading this to chime in and help out with the conversation. Follow me if you will… I was getting around 300 gallons of spot free water at approx. 400ppm. This morning I was able to reduce the ppm coming out of my RO down to 8ppm (since posting this video). 8 goes into 400 fifty times. 400/8=50. In other words I will get 50 times more life out of my resin from the drastic reduction in TDS. 50x300 gallons is 15,000 gallons of spot free water (theoretically). Now keep in mind the mod I did to the CR Spotless increased the DI resin yield by approx 40%. I still need to test this but if you take 15,000 gallons and now add 40% to that number we’re looking at 21,000 gallons of spot free water. That’s filling up my 100 gallon water tank 210 times with water at 0ppm before I ever have to change the resin again.
What RO membrane are you using? How often do you have to change the carbon and sediment filters and how much does that cost? Just curious what the total operating costs are. Awesome system!

I’m in northern Ca . Came across your video and liked your detail of your video so I’m a new subscriber. Wanting to do a RODI system hopefully soon .
Just found your video. Super system! I have just purchased a CR Spotless system for home use to wash my new C8 Corvette. I live in Las Vegas, and I know our water source (the Colorado River via Lake Mead) has to be at least as bad as your unfiltered/DI water in AZ. We will see, once I get the system, how long the original CR Spotless lasts for me without all the pre -filtration and RO system to act as a feed to the CR Spotless. I don't know how often I am going to be washing my car, as I don't plan on using it as a daily driver, plus is has a clear bra and ceramic coating, but if the CR Spotless degrades too quickly, I'll certainly give some consideration to using at least part of the system you've developed here. Many thanks for posting your awesome water processing plant!
Just use. FRP vessel 5 litre will be sufficient. Here in the UK we would always use a 4040 RO and then polish with the resin. Lovely set up you have there

I live in Chandler and fortunately have the option of using the services of Purtek , a local company that provides pure water solutions to businesses via deionization systems of all sizes at a reasonable rates. I'm not mobile so I've got room at my shop for a big heavy tank. Your system is genius and is definitely a game changer. I can't wait to watch your sales take off as the system becomes known across the industry. I assume you plan to market it to detailers and window washers. All the best to you brother! @@SpotlessWaterGuy question… if I use this system every once in a while like 1 time ever week or every 2 weeks is there a way of taking out the residual water with the upgrade kit?
@@ernestopadron3807 if you’re using it weekly there’s no need to remove the water out of the housing. As you flush the system that will happen naturally
Holy cow what a small world! Jerry is awesome. He’s turned into a great friend. I owe him a debt of gratitude for helping me understand how RODI works. Thanks for sharing!
This is the exact same kind of rodi setup I've used on my saltwater fish tanks for over a decade. Very efficient. I may even start using the water on my car. Only downside is water consumption, running rodi you waste a lot of water down the drain but you can use that water for plants etc if you dont want the waste water part just going down the drain
Man I want to get into salt water aquariums! I was very aware you guys use the same type of set up. So cool how those type of fish need ultra purified water. What is your waste water consumption like with the system you use?
@@SpotlessWaterGuy waste water depends on the membrane rejection rate you use so it can vary. I normally for one good gallon it’s 2 gallon waste water.
I’ve seen this mod on the CRSpotless system. And yes there is space around the canister that isn’t filled with resin… but the claim you get more DI water, while technically true, glosses over the fact that you are putting MORE resin into your canister which is why you reap more DI water. It’s not free DI water… you put in more resin, you get more clean water. If you’re looking to not change resin as frequently, then this is a great feature, but it’s not free, clean, DI water.
Yeah I'm watching this video thinking the exact same thing. Whole video made no sense. Plus you should just buy a spot free system or one of those that look the same if you don't want the cartridge, they work exactly this way with a post going into the resin.

Nice work, kudos on the effort involved. At 8-10 ppm from your R.O., you could possibly forego the ion exchange resin altogether. But I know, why go to the effort and stop at 10ppm, lol.

@@SpotlessWaterGuy My system is much simpler with a 200 gallon tank, a pump that transfers the water from the tank to the filters and a 3000 psi gasoline pressure washer !!! your system is much more complete ...
Buy a spin down filter, it's a reusable filtration and generally is used to pull down heavy metals and solids...keeps the filters less restricted from visible foreign objects. It's about the same size of your pre filters you got
wow!! I am in Michigan. I just test my water with my meter and I am maxing out at 15 PPM straight from the tap with no filters. I couldn't imagine having to deal with water that hard on a consistent basis. My wife still considers our water hard so I had to install a filter on our shower head to help.
Im excited for you-- but im not into window washing yet , so i thoght it was a Di system only but looks like so much more that that, so im confused. But thamks for the video --
This is exactly what we do in making water for salt water tanks ro/di nice set up where did you get that Stainless chamber and RO membrane of that size
All or many professional window cleaners in England Holland and USA have 40/40 Reverse osmosis systems in their vans.. In the Uk the window cleaners drive around with 400 -800 liter tanks full of di-ionized water for their days work
Hi, I've been using a system very much like that for over 18 years both in my window cleaning business and detailing, hope it's all working good for you 👍
I have the RV-Mod system with their green tank. I just spent way too much replacing the DI resin. Thank you for showing me how to beat the system. I am interested in your RO unit, what was the cost? All this is for my home garage system. Our water in SW Florida is just as poor as yours! Thank you again for the great video...........
Where did you get the tubes for the filter housings? I could use something like that for my whole house filtration system, changing those filters are a pain in the butt. Thanks
replace the 10" filters with 20" filters, they last longer. A water softener would probably help your RO membranes last longer (maybe make a setup at garage to recharge resin?)
Nice work mate. I own a detaling and hand car wash in Australia and would love to set something like this up. Alas COVID has shut us down and we can not work. So it will slide down the to do list.
I’ve heard about the lockdowns in Australia. Hopefully someday soon this will pass and we can get back to normal life. Covid sucks. I’m sorry brother. Hang in there.
Love this set up! i have a very similar set up just a little bigger im using the 20" big blue, 40" vessel and etc. You should package this and offer it for others who doesn't have time to learn about DI water let alone put the whole kit together (it not easy setting up such system)
Hi there, I hope I’m understanding your question. The DI resin tube has mini laser micro cuts in the PVC. Small enough for water to flow through but not resin. Hope that helps.
This is great and theoretically you could have thousands of gallons of DI water, but doesn’t this just mean you have more filters to change instead of the original 2? Can we get a cost breakdown?
Great question. No in fact it means you have less filters to change. Here’s how it works (these numbers get you to 15,000 gallons of spot free water). With the CR Spotless you would have to change out the resin cartridges 50 times (they only last 300 gallons). With the AquaTambo (my system) you only have to change out the filters 7 times. The sediment filter and carbon block is good up to 6 months or 100,000 gallons of water whichever comes first. I recommend you swap them out every 6 months because they’ve are cheap ($15 each). The DI resin in my system will need to be changed around 3 times ($200). The RO filter is good for 2.5 to 5 years depending on how well you take care of it ($300). If it lasts you 3 years your yearly cost is $100. Get ready to poop your pants... When using the CR Spotless you would have to change out the filters 50 times to produce 15,000 gallons of water. With my system you only have to replace filters approx 7 times. Approx Cost breakdown: CR Spotless - $6,950 AquaTambo - $260. Filters to change: CR Spotless - 50 AquaTambo - 7. Again these figures get you to 15,000. Hope that helps
Would this work without the water tank? Does the water come out wish enough pressure to just use with a water hose or water fed pole? Let’s say for window cleaning
Hey there! Yes absolutely. This system utilizes a booster pump it can run water up multiple stories. The system for window cleaners would come with a manual on/off switch.
This is pretty much what all window cleaners do. However its generally not recommended in pressure washers because water that clean will wear out the lubes in the o-rings and stuff very quickly. At least thats what I'm told.
Dude, your trailer system is awesome. Are you going to get in the business selling trailers like that? I’m from Connecticut, and I would love to have a trailer like that. Let me know i’ll be your first customer 👍
That is a great idea for “pre filtering” the high TDS water with a less expensive membrane and letting the high dollar stuff polish off the water. Do you know the ratio of pure water to waste for the RO membrane?
Nice work brother... so where do we find this system.? My nephews have been doing mobile detailing dor a minute now and were going too build my old flooring van for them and id really like too do something like this for tthem because ive been telling em for yrs too look into deionized water systems & hoe ive seen people making their own system's... but this lokks way better than anything i could have came up with within my means anyways...
Thats very similar to what i designed, but mine is inside my basement plumbed into the spigot i use for filling my mobile tank. very clever installing it into your trailer. I still wanna see the advantages of the end you have on your pressure washer gun.
Awesome! Yeah I wanted to be able to make water wherever I went. Dude I have been loving that thing at the end of my pressure washer gun. After I finish testing it in different applications I’ll get a video up. Having the extra reach behind wheels and tires has been pretty awesome. The biggest advantage which may sound like the silliest is how much easier it is to change out the foam cannon and other fittings. More to come!
I haven't read through all the comments so this may have been previously addressed. A whole house regenerating water softener system also uses a resin media. Is using this system redundant or does this type of resin have properties that a whole house softer does not. If so, please explain. Thank you.
A water softener and deionized resin are two types of water treatment systems that remove different types of impurities in water. A water softener is a system that removes hard water minerals, such as calcium and magnesium, from the water. Hard water can cause scaling and buildup in pipes, appliances, and fixtures, and can also make soap less effective. A water softener uses an ion exchange process to replace the hard water minerals with sodium ions, which do not cause scaling. Deionized resin, on the other hand, removes all ions from the water, including minerals, salts, and other impurities. This process is called deionization or demineralization. Deionized water is used in many industrial and laboratory applications, where mineral-free water is required for specific processes. In summary, a water softener removes hard water minerals, while deionized resin removes all ions from the water.
I am a pressure washer and I also am cleaning windows and solar panels ! I am gonna build something like this to my trailer to run to my water fed pole ! There is also the Xero Pure system with two 40” RO membranes on a little dollie with di and carbon filters with it . But I like your design
Hey 524, thanks for commenting! I’ve looked at Xero Pure it seems like a great option if someone doesn’t mind the slow water production. Without a pump it’s only going to produce around 1 gallon per minute. It would take an hour to fill up a 65 gallon water tank with that system. I think that’s why it’s marketed towards window/solar panel cleaners. If I started to run low on water while I was out on a job I wanted to be able to fill up my water tank quickly. My system doubles the water production in comparison to the Xero Pure. It produces 2.1 gallons per minute taking around 30 min to fill up a 65 gallon water tank. It’s all relative but I wanted faster water production haha. My Kranzle pressure washer takes 2.1 gallons per minute so the output of my system could keep up with demand. Curious if you use DI water when pressure washing or just for window cleaning / solar panel cleaning?
That's an incredible system/setup for your water and hats off to you for doing it. Can't believe the savings you've created in your description and a big thumbs up to your pal Jerry from me here in the UK. Subbed and will check out more of your content, stay safe across the pond.
The 100 PPM drop off just simple pre filters would help a lot of people who are in lower PPM cities even w out the RO. Sediment and Carbon block filters are super cheap and easy to plumb. Could mount to a dolly w the resin for hand mobile use. Not sure if the large RO would work vertical on a dolly in a simple No tank storage way.
Thanks for watching! I wanted to clarify some parts of your comment, a lot of people may read this then go out and buy a bunch of pre filters which will not do anything to reduce TDS. A common misconception is that sediment and carbon filters reduce TDS or PPM. This is in not true. Sediment and carbon filters can't remove or reduce TDS levels in water. They are merely there to remove suspended solids and in my case remove chlorine out of the water because RO has a zero tolerance for chlorine. These pre filters simply protect the RO from fouling prematurely. The only thing that can remove TDS is RO, DI resin or distillation. You can add as many pre filters as you want it unfortunately will do nothing to prolong the life of your DI resin. To help answer your other question. The RO can indeed be mounted vertically without any differences in performance.
So basically the RO system doesn’t require any ongoing cost like resin? And that’s also what’s bringing the TDS down to a more manageable level before going thru deionizer? Hope I’m understanding all this. Thanks for the vid! I’m actually not that far away from Tucson(Prescott). Now if you can just make your own fuel ⛽️!!
🤯🤯🤯

That’s filling up my 100 gallon water tank 210 times with water at 0ppm before I ever have to change the resin again.

Way cool! Jerry is a good guy. I have known him since 1997. Good luck with your venture. I will share this video on my FB page. I am in Spokane WA.
Holy cow what a small world! Jerry is awesome. He’s turned into a great friend. I owe him a debt of gratitude for helping me understand how RODI works. Thanks for sharing!
Who is Jerry with in Tucson?
This needs way more likes and views.
Thanks man that means a lot to me!
Perfect Job My friend! I knew you could do it!
Thanks for the support!
Great points Tom
Yeah I'm watching this video thinking the exact same thing. Whole video made no sense. Plus you should just buy a spot free system or one of those that look the same if you don't want the cartridge, they work exactly this way with a post going into the resin.
Not exactly the brightest group here. Amateurs
Dude puts a basic ro system in and acts like he has walked on the ocean…….. ignorance is no excuse for thinking your smart
@@Miketime969 Mike you need to enjoy the simple things in life my friend. For many who don’t understand how RO works this is a game changer. Enjoy your day brother.
What an excellent job, one more weapon for our arsenal.
I am very interested in knowing more about the water system
Dude your set up is insane! I would love to set up my trailer just like this. Clean looking and clean running, it's perfect.
Thanks man! Im happy with how it turned out. Cheers 🤙
@@SpotlessWaterGuy I've been looking and trying to find something that I liked that worked for me. Couldn't find anything I liked untill I found yours. I hope you don't mind me stealing your idea. Cuz I'm gonna. 🤣
Haha glad you found some good ideas! I’m just a freak about functionality and esthetics. It works for me. Much success brother.
@@SpotlessWaterGuy thank you, you as well.
Nice work, kudos on the effort involved. At 8-10 ppm from your R.O., you could possibly forego the ion exchange resin altogether. But I know, why go to the effort and stop at 10ppm, lol.
Thanks Bob! Yes you got it. I need perfection lol
Greetings from the not so sunny UK! Man, that's a seriously impressive set up. I recently watched your video on your trailer and how it is set up. Enjoy the fruits of your labour!
Thank you so much! I’ve really enjoyed the set up. It’s working great for my needs. Cheers! Thanks for commenting.
Bryce, what a great hack and thks for sharing. Can you tell me what is the average gallons you use to detail a 2 door car?
Hi Larry! I use between 20-30 gallons on average for a 2 door
Just see this video and man o man this is awesome 👏
I would like to have something like that add it to my new business can you please let me know what I need and installation guide ? That will we helpful and will be en debt for ever . Thank you Sir
I have a spotlees system like yours but I don't reach the 000 level to dionize the water for washing, I congratulate you on the great setup 👌🏼
Thank you! What kind of system do you use?
@@SpotlessWaterGuy My system is much simpler with a 200 gallon tank, a pump that transfers the water from the tank to the filters and a 3000 psi gasoline pressure washer !!! your system is much more complete ...
@@johnmartinez1527 right on man. Here’s to working hard 🤙
Any links to where to buy the stuff? The sediment filter, the carbon filter, whatever an RO is and the resin?
Hey brother yes I custom build and sell these systems. you can learn more by visiting www.SpotlessWaterGuy.com
Dude your friend should patent that & you could go around the country and install
Buy a spin down filter, it's a reusable filtration and generally is used to pull down heavy metals and solids...keeps the filters less restricted from visible foreign objects. It's about the same size of your pre filters you got
Thanks for the tip! I’ll have to check that out 🤙
What is a "spin down" filter?
am i crazy or did u blaze before this video, It's all good i detail and work better on cars when I'm medicated as well. cheers fam!
wow!! I am in Michigan. I just test my water with my meter and I am maxing out at 15 PPM straight from the tap with no filters. I couldn't imagine having to deal with water that hard on a consistent basis. My wife still considers our water hard so I had to install a filter on our shower head to help.
That’s some clean water! You’re lucky!
Im excited for you-- but im not into window washing yet , so i thoght it was a Di system only but looks like so much more that that, so im confused. But thamks for the video --
Awesome video!! I don’t even wash cars wtf
Haha Thanks brother!
This looks like the DeLorean .. is he a detailer or time traveler 😮
Your setup is insane! Loved this video and after measuring the usage of my new CR Spotless I might try this mod and measure after.
Thanks! Let me know what you discover
This is exactly what we do in making water for salt water tanks ro/di nice set up where did you get that Stainless chamber and RO membrane of that size
What about cavitation in the pump. Or bleed off point. But honestly absolutely genius. Good job
All or many professional window cleaners in England Holland and USA have 40/40 Reverse osmosis systems in their vans.. In the Uk the window cleaners drive around with 400 -800 liter tanks full of di-ionized water for their days work
God bless the 40/40! Thanks for watching. Best wishes.
Apparently nobody that cleans cars also dabbles in the salt water fish tank hobby. This is how all of our water is made.
Hi, I've been using a system very much like that for over 18 years both in my window cleaning business and detailing, hope it's all working good for you 👍
It’s been amazing. Thanks!
Great setup up brother 💯👌🏽 your so good at what you do man....awesome
Oh man thanks so much! 👍
I have the RV-Mod system with their green tank. I just spent way too much replacing the DI resin. Thank you for showing me how to beat the system. I am interested in your RO unit, what was the cost? All this is for my home garage system. Our water in SW Florida is just as poor as yours! Thank you again for the great video...........
i wanna build this for my trailer once my business picks up more you should do. a video how to make the build
This is a good idea. If the purpose is to fill the space with resin is it ok to just use sa cartridges and just fill the empty spaces with resin?
Where did you get the tubes for the filter housings? I could use something like that for my whole house filtration system, changing those filters are a pain in the butt. Thanks
Here you go brother! rv-mods.com/store/DIC20-conversion-kit-p105868881
replace the 10" filters with 20" filters, they last longer.
Thank you! A package deal is in the works :)
@@SpotlessWaterGuy when is it out?! Lol

This is the best job ever I really recommend this channel 👍📉❤️
Hello, what preventing from flowing resin bubles after water flowing to out tube. ?This bubles must be on water if no any filters on output tube.
.
Hi there, I hope I’m understanding your question. The DI resin tube has mini laser micro cuts in the PVC. Small enough for water to flow through but not resin. Hope that helps.
What are you using for a water booster pump ?
Thanks
Great Job. I am on my way to start my detailing business. Can help by sharing all the sat up and equipment info about your spot-free water systems pls
Congrats on starting your own detailing business! Best wishes 🤙
Do i see a franchise in the making, great work
Thanks man! Here’s to dreaming big!
@@SpotlessWaterGuy is this something you sell or can you show how to build ourselves? I’m also in az if there’s a way we can chat about it 😊
@@gabsnands9845 check out www.spotlesswaterguy.com. We sell them
This is pretty much what all window cleaners do.
Thanks Carlos! Who knows what the future might hold!
Doesn't the presure knob do the same thing as the flush valve? I mean can you not flush the water with the presure handle?
That is a great idea for “pre filtering” the high TDS water with a less expensive membrane and letting the high dollar stuff polish off the water.
Do you know the ratio of pure water to waste for the RO membrane?
Hey there! Yes for every 1 gallon of clean water produced. You waste about 1/2 gallon.
More like 3 to 1
Most RO systems need a pressurized accumulator tank to keeo the pressure up downstream, how do you get pressured water to your DI filter?
Nice work brother... so where do we find this system.? My nephews have been doing mobile detailing dor a minute now and were going too build my old flooring van for them and id really like too do something like this for tthem because ive been telling em for yrs too look into deionized water systems & hoe ive seen people making their own system's... but this lokks way better than anything i could have came up with within my means anyways...
Awesome. You can find more info at www.spotlesswaterguy.com
Nice where did you get those carbon filters
That looks amazing how can we build our own system like that? Would be interested to build something similar at home to fill water tank
Hi Anna you got it! Pre filtration is key! If you figure out how to make your own fuel let me know haha
