It will be interesting to see how they can hold on to the good players if they don’t join the league. Super league teams will make more money, will buy the best players and will have bigger squads. If super league becomes successful then teams would either have to join them or become irrelevant.

The premier league started all this. Before they let investors come into the game, there was possibility for smaller teams in countries like Portugal or the Netherlands to win the Champions League. Now they don’t have the slightest chance because all their players are immediately sold to English Spanish or German clubs. And it is an hypocrisy to criticize the Super League and complain about the death of the PL if you don’t recognize that the PL was the main cause of the demise of the essence of football. You can’t just cherry pick where investment is good or bad. It can’t just be bad if it puts in jeopardy the PL. it is also bad if it doesn’t allow every club to be a real contender for any competition

I honestly am struggling to care anymore. The games dead, Premier League looking more and more corrupt every week, very little amount of style in the game (everyone plays basically the same way) the excitement of the mid 00s is gone, no more individualism, no more big match feel. @@andrewwright4195 those changes weren’t fundamental to the way football is run. 92 changes was a rebranding of the old first division(and was needed with the way football was going on the continent). The original Champions league expansion didn’t exclude clubs because they didnt have the right ownership or size.

The champions league is turning into a clown show from next year anyway with the winning team needing to pay 15 matches to do so. And accusing someone else of greed and corruption when you have UEFA/FIFA currently in charge is rather amusing.

My views have totally changed on this Super League. The owners realise UEFA/FIFA are doing the same thing but profiting themselves. Conference league, expanding the Champions League, Nations League etc.
Those expansions are meant to get smaller teams more television money and are better expansions for the game than this monopolistic garbage

Uefa condemned this concept so much back in 2021 but their new champions league format will be quite similair and now if the super league would accepted I think the clubs would earn more money and the state owned clubs would have less advantage over everyone.

Liverpool created a Supporters Board after the original ESL launch in 2021, meaning the fans on this board have the final say on whether Liverpool could join a new competition and I’m pretty sure we don’t want anything to do with this.

I'm a Korean who lives in US who adores football, and we genuinely do not need another competition, especially when players are overwhelmed with number of matches anyway. One or two preseason matches are great fan service, but this is just degrading the quality of the domestic league and champions league.

The Glazers are American they'll want a lot of Man United games to be played in the big U.S. city markets like L.A., NYC, Dallas, Chicago, etc...They can sell tickets for double the cost in the U.S & Canada compared the lower UK prices which are regulated by the EFL.

Be honest. There are so many games in the top leagues that nobody wants to watch. Even in the Premier League, there are matches that hardly attract any spectators. As a German viewer, I would hardly be interested in games like Crystal Palace v Brighton or Fulham v Burnley.
In addition, FIFA is finally losing more power as a result of the ruling. A World Cup in Qatar because of the many deaths there was a scandal. Another World Cup should go to Saudi Arabia again. What coincidences there are.

With all the honesty, I think that we are in need of somthing to disrupt the field. Not sure if Super League is the best option, but I'm getting so tired of FA and UEFA being not transparent at all and arguebly corrupt. Maybe the pressure from another league could help make current leagues better (or it will ruin everything)...

super league would work upon two circumstances:
1. the participating teams do not only play super league, all other competitions continue as normal
2. it will not be the same teams every single season/year
Don't know enough about how this will look yet tbh but will it not just be a market place in terms of clubs choosing which competitions to enter so it'll be Super League vs Champions League? Either way I've always thought the CL should only be for Champions in a mini league format so they could potentially co-exist I guess. However the domestic leagues will undoutedly suffer as there's going to be too much football without the giant squads you mention.
Did you even read the super league format? The teams stay in their domestic leagues and gwt placement based on performance in those leagues.

The problem with the CL is too many of the same teams appearing too often, not the opposite. The more the same clubs appear the more boring the offering becomes. Level up the qualifying process it is already too weighted towards the big clubs.
