Great review. Vekoma has such a cool aesthetic going on at the moment - firstly, I love how they often exit inversions with an extra 90-degree twist into a turn, it's like the inversion just keeps going and going. We saw this on Formula at Energylandia, but also most of their coasters since. They also love their trenches too - funny to see this being a manufacturer-lead decision, but one I'm totally behind nevertheless.
Rode this on monday and had a great time! This was my first inverting coaster (first inverted coaster too :D) and I immidietly fell in love with the hangtime and floatiness on all 3 rolls! Since I was there for rope drop, I actually got on the first train of the day as a complete walk-on and rode it a second time right before leaving in the late afternoon, it was really interesting too feel the difference in how the train was running. While the first ride was perfectly smooth, after the track had baked in the 32° C sun all day, I did notice quite a shuffle, but thanks to the uber-comfortable seats, I still had a blast! Someone else who noticed my difference was my smartwatch, which actually triggered a "severe fall" and sent a SOS call to my confused family members...
At first of all: great Review as always: thank you. And as German I have to say: perfect how you pronounce "Hals über Kopf". Yes Tripsdrill is one of my homeparks and I did it a lot of times and I agree: really great work from Vekoma improving their ("terrible") SLC coasters. This STC is so smooth and the theming is so great. And yes: usually there is no waiting time for this coaster (on very buisy days when Karacho have 60 min. this coaster is at maximum of 30 mim. waiting time).
Awesome review as always. I just rode Monster in Gröna Lund and a lot of the points you made reminded me of it. It's an untraditional B&M Invert as it also has variation on floaty inversions, graceful whip, flojector airtime, unique turns and overall forceful moments
I spent 10 months living in Freiburg im Breisgau last year, but I made sure to make the 3-4 hour each way trip to Tripsdrill to get what I though would be some underrated, well-themed, coaster credits (compared with the much closer, but also wonderful Europa Park). I must say, that although Karacho is a better ride, this was my favourite, and I marathoned it at the end of the day. I loved how the ride just seemed to flow; it felt like every element was the natural successor to the previous one, which is a really underrated feature of roller coasters; many just throw a series of elements at you with no proper sequencing. I also loved the the station and queue announcements about COVID measures; I don't know if you can understand any German, but they make a quite funny (for Germans) joke about the difference between standard German (Hochdeutsch), and the regional dialect. Good fun. It was also really cool to experience airtime on an invert - although it wasn't strong, I would recommend that sensation to anyone.
I really enjoyed this coaster it was briefly my new #1 in 2020 and still in my Top 10 to this day. It's unbelievably fun and it was such a big surprise how good it was. I had expectations for the ride, but they were shattered. Great Coaster 8/10
Those ride ops, one at the beginning when discussing the introduction of open vest restraints and the ride op you gave props to make me cringe with how close they are to a moving train lolol. Great video though. We need more of these in the US.
Those trains are sooo graceful as they execute the layout! I love the theming and the way it travels over the walkway. The now defunct AstroWorld had a copy cat SLC(Serial Thriller) It replaced our "giant" Arrow Mine Train.
The moment you mentioned this Vekoma Invert has more airtime than a B&M invert I was all in. I'm curious: have you just been to these places now as you'e released it on TH-cam? If so: That's impressive. I'm jealous, but not bitter. You're kind. Also: I'm pretty thankful for what I have leaned, my experiences and where I've traveled, considering what so many people in this word cannot do. I can't wait to get back to the mainland of Europe; I've not been there since May 2009. When I do I'll probably land in Germany again like I did last time. (Fun fact: the 1st leg of my trip to England in October 2019 was Vancouver to Frankfurt the same airport I'd landed in in 2009 before transferring to Manchester) Thanks for posting this great video!
Wow! What a presentation! And I don't even know what I'm seeing/hearing. Obviously I'm new and I'm going to sub. But, Tripsdrill, Prototype, um, How did all that happen? I was hypnotised by the trains and dazzled by Info; then I re-read the video title. Again, wow!
Im really looking forward to getting our STC here in Ireland next year, construction has started now and its going to be 32m and have 5 inversions, its also having the boomerang interact with it, I really hope it has these good lap bars like Hals Uber Kopf.
That element after the zero g roll is not registered as a Junior Immelmann and it looks more like a normal turn with a dip. Nice review, I want to see more of these things pop up in America!
I rode it yesterday the first time ever and I loved it. I wanted to go again but I didn't have any time left for a 2nd lap. It's my #1. I still have to experience Karacho and Mammut in the park, but I think that this is going to stay my #1.
I'm glad having this as my home park. Hals-über-Kopf marathon goes brrrrrr. I still prefer Karacho. But you have to choose between one ride on Karacho or 2-3 rides on Hals-über-Kopf. Maybe it will get more balanced over time or when they add some shortcuts.
The ride operator at 1:55 would be fired at most U.S. parks if he tried touching the train while it’s in motion or crossing the loading zone before it’s been cleared. Even hi-fiving a guest that’s on a moving train is a huge OLSHA violation.
@@CanobieCoaster I work at a launched B&M and just thinking about doing any such thing makes me panic. Then again, it’s the same rule for any and all rides across our parks.
I was there yesterday and the park was almost empty, got 10 rides on Hals über Kopf and gotta say the back is definitely the best, it has the best forces, even a bit airtime on the first drop, its no way shaky. The front row didnt impress me that much. It was so quiet there that I could stay seated after the ride was over. Had a little chat with the operator (I think it was even the same chick as in booth in 6:15) while waiting for more people so that the train has at least 4 people.
I think the standard STC comes with a vest, the lap bar only is probably specific to this ride. Besides that I went on the 25th of august and the theming behind wasn't done yet, the exit and turn into the station we're still bare, was it already done when you went?
I loved the flow of elements of this ride and feels like this type of ride is a great fit for a family park that wants a more family friendly invert than the product B&M offers. Only major complaints were the restraints. They staple hard and restricted my and my friends hard and it really was quite bothersome on the break run.
i hope silver dollar city builds off of dollywood getting dragonflier and gets an stc. all their coasters atm are sitdowns so a lower cost invert of median intensity seems to be a good choice considering their target demographic and current collection
I love this review!! I agree with you although I have not gone outside of the us. Hals Uber Knopf looks to be a great ride having unique airtime. B&M has recently followed in vekomas footsteps by adding airtime hills to monster at grona Lund. I really do think vekoma is a role model in inverted coasters, they have a new STC coming to Tayto park in China too.
This may be the first invert I'd be willing to ride. I miss the suspended coasters, but the horror stories about inverts have always put me off. I have zero tolerance for roughness and head banging---once on the Corkscrew at Canobie Lake and its subsequent headache, and that was enough. So I hope to see a model of this STC in this country soon.
I ´ve done this coaster last year looks a lot prettier now. I think its a totaly nice coaster for people who want to experience the extreme coaster without to much Umpff in it. Its very smooth and rerideble. Makes a great addition for one of the extremer rides for more family like parcs or if you want a nice comfortly coaster in a coaster parc. I do think however that the real adreniline junckys find this model just a bit to tame. For me it might have some more force but found it a very pleasant coaster rode it 9 times straight without any problems.
Just like Tornado l, your last review, it's a unique Invert that I want to see more of, especially in America. Iv ridden Dragon Flier and that's a really intense ride for a family coaster. This is like that but adding inversions. As it doesn't look as intense or snappy as a B&M Invert. The inversions are more elongated and stretched out to give hangtime instead of whip and posatives. The restraints are what make this though. I love Dragon Fliers restraints and this does not even compare to the Vekoma SLC ones, they are insanely better.
Imagine Vekoma used this new track for their bad SLC clones they would obviously need better banking I’m curious how they would look and run intensity wise
@@CanobieCoaster yes, but what is the difference between a suspect roller coaster and an inverted coaster? Bc the slc is referred to both an invert, and a suspended
Vekoma had to go and ruin their ultra elite SLC that we all know, love, and marathon at every park that has one! Although I don't think the SLCs are bad rides at all, this is clearly a huge upgrade, with the smooth track work, better transitions, and great restraints. I hope these STCs take off, and that we'll see some in the US.
I think what you mean to say is that Vekoma is about to slap everyone. . .while saying THIS is what a suspended coaster is supposed to feel like. Also. . .I don't think it was EVER a good quality about the, "whip", in B&M Zero-G rolls. . .Gonna take that Vekomas actaully lives up to the name here. Looking at you Banshee. 🙄🤕
the colour scheme might not be flashy, but i love how it blends in with the natural looking theming. such a beautiful coaster
Absolutely

It definitely enhances the ride.
Thanks for mentioning the fantastic transitions, Vekoma really nailed their new layouts! Fly is such a smooth ride as well.
I agree.
Looks great! It’s hard to imagine with how many inversions Vekoma has made that they’re finally getting good at them now lol
The 180 they performed is amazing.

I love the colors combined with the trains. Making the seats look like backpacks works so well and the custom sculpting is insane
They look cool.
Great review - as always!
My home park Tripsdrill now has a strong line up with Hals-Über-Kopf and Karacho as two really nice headliners :)

It was a little dull for my tastes.
There is finally another stc opening in Ireland at emerald park next year. There is also a new super boomerang model opening in china
Excited for both!

Suspended coasters are below the track like inverts, but inverts can't swing.
