This model would be amazing for most independent parks, and the low tier Six Flags and Cedar Fair parks. It's so unfortunate this model hasn't been able to pop off despite Lightning Run being a success for KK.

I’m excited to ride the Hot Wheels coaster when it opens in Phoenix. While it’s different from Lightning Run, I’m happy there’s finally gonna be a second Chance Rides Hyper-GTX.

It’s apparently gonna be pretty different, though. Like it doesn’t have as much ejector and it has inversions. Sounds interesting, nonetheless!
Lightning Run is probably one of the smoothest coasters I’ve ever ridden. And fun fact (3:20): Lightning Run’s trains actually ARE RMC trains. They’re prototype Gen 2 trains. That’s why they’re so similar to RMC trains.

This was my most anticipated coaster of my 2023 travels and it did not disappoint. I hope the one opening at Mattel’s park sparks interest in the ride model. Very fun, very cost effective.
The Mattel one looks a lot different so it should show how dynamic the model is.
An absolute gem for the park for sure. This compliments Storm Chaser very well, and I agree it's one of the best 1-2 punches is the world. The restraints did tighten significantly on my last ride in 2021, but the ejector was so strong I didn't mind too much.
I've never had that issue myself.

This coaster is like if the ending of Phantom's Revenge was on a boring plot of land but was an entire satisfying coaster on its own.
Kentucky Kingdom is the king of short coasters. They only have a modest number of coasters and none of them are very tall or long. But while none of them are statistically impressive, most of them do a lot with their layouts and their space. And even T3 (for being as bad as it is) doesn't bang your head around so I guess it gets some credit.
They do use their space well.
Wish that one of these would come to my home park (Michigan's Adventure)...

I could only ride it 5 times in a row before my shin started to bruise, but damn was it worth it! What a wonderful coaster, I would love to see these everywhere! 🤘

I'm glad they're trying to give the ride model diversity. It can become Chance's own Infinity Coaster model with limitless options, just with more standard trains and more RMC-like elements. I look forward to seeing more pop up, hopefully

It is a very solid ride. It is a great #2 to Storm Chaser's #1. I do think Storm Chaser is the better coaster, but you are correct this is a great 1-2 punch for Kentucky Kingdom! Great review! Wish more parks would take a "chance" on these GT-Hypers.

I think it's mainly lack of marketing on Chance Rides part. I think they do pretty well with ride refurbishments and parts sales, that they remain a profitable player with name recognition. I don't think parks think Chance Rides when they're thinking of adding a coaster. Other, more aggressive manufacturers are simply beating them to their potential clientele. I'd love to see them expand their refurbishment division to convert a few Arrow looper/ corkscrews into airtime filled Hyper GT-Xs. A sort of a small scale Phantom's Revenge conversion. It would be cool to have the nostalgia of the old Arrow lift hill (insert chain dog sound bite) and then the smoothness and airtime of Lightning Run. Now with Alan Shilke retiring, they'll probably have a harder time acquiring Joe Drave's design services, so I'm afraid they have missed their window of opportunity.
I wish they can get more of their coasters out there to parks.
I was pleasantly surprised when I rode this. Kind of reminds me of Phantoms Revenge but on a smaller scale. I believe Joe Draves(Steel Curtain, Arie Force One) designed this working for Ride Centerline so the RMC elements are noticable

Lighting Run is amazing. While I agree with the lack of marketing being the major contributor to not buying one, I think it's very short sighted on a lot of parks. 4D free spins, Batman the Ride clones, and mid size CGI's are still bought and generally liked by the GP. Hopefully more are built.
I wish parks could just build a good ride like this and get a ROI.
This model would be a fun, relatively inexpensive add for Hershey; expanding on their awesome variety. Especially after the big price tag on Candy, and if they’re only gonna Titan track Wildcat.

I 100% See this for moviepark germany. All their rides are around 30m high (Bandit, Star Trek and the SLC) So it would fit into the "small" lineup perfectly, + it offers an airtime heavy experience that is not only not found in Moviepark Germany yet, but also not in their Neighbour parks Toverland and Phantasialand

Yep! I think If these were launched, they'd sell like hot cakes. I love the blue track and the trains gracefully traveling over the track. At least you CAN say it's unique to this park. Chance has been around a while. We have a lot of their stuff in Houston, Galveston & Kemah. Glad you enjoyed it.
I hope the new one in Arizona works well.
This ride is my #3 behind storm chaser and velocicoaster.

This coaster looks like it has way too many transitions. Train looks like a bucking bronco going around the layout. My first thoughts were “RMC at home” but then you cut to an actual hybrid coaster in the same park and it left me like, huh! Looks like the coaster has its fans though.

It would be interesting what Arrow would be building nowadays.
@@CanobieCoaster indeed, instead of relying mostly on small projects or hand-built Parts they would have newer talent and up-to-date technology and relying more on computers. It's just that the train and the tracks look very much the same.
I got two rides on this, and 27 rides on storm chaser during my visit because this was running one train compared to storm chaser’s two. Also, storm chaser hit an unreal -1.8gs while this was still a strong 1.4, but I preferred storm chaser due to the variety and power

In my opinion, this is the best coaster at Kentucky Kingdom. It has just as good of airtime as Storm Chaser but more agreesive. This is seriously one of the best roller coasters iv ridden. This chance hyper GTX is cheap, compact, and is better than some RMCs. That drop alone in the back is better than any airtime moment on Storm Chaser and I love how loud and fast one of the world's fastest chain lift hills is. The ending also couldn't be better with 4 bunny hills. It may not be the longest but it packs so many RMC like elements in a small space. Its also perfectly smooth and the loud squeeking noise is so unique. We need to see more of these things, it is absolutely one of my favorite rides.
I prefer Storm Chaser, but both are awesome.
What I wouldn't give to have one of these at one of my near by parks like: Hersheypark, Dorney Park, Knoebels, Six Flags America, Kings Dominion.
They'd work at most of those.
My only issue is the restraints coming down a little tighter as it goes, but I love the ride. It's a shame if lack of records is the reason more haven't been built. These seem so perfect for smaller or mid sized parks. There's probably no space for one at Frontier City, but Worlds of Fun has plenty of room.
I don't remember having a problem with the restraint tightening.
This is a perfect ride for smaller parks. It’s definitely popular with guests. Maybe since Herschend owns KK they will work with Chance and put one at Wild Adventures

This review made me want to ride Lightning Run. What other coasters have airtime as strong as those final bunny hills? Are they comparable to Twisted Timbers or Gale Force?
Those final hills are more violent than the pops on Twisted Timbers in my opinion.
I got to say for a park this size Kentucky Kingdom has one of the best line ups of coasters. It has a better line up than many big parks

@@CanobieCoaster And their middle two are good as well. Only bad ride is T3 (I'm not going to rip on a kids coaster). Really the only thing this park needs is a good looping launch coaster

What do you think about the shin guards on Lightning Run at Kentucky Kingdom and the shin guards on Coast Rider at Knott's Berry Farm?
What are the differences between them, how they are shaped?
The Lightning Run ones are fine and wrap around legs. The Coast Rider ones are awful and dig into legs.
Imagine going to ride again those two coasters, Lightning Run at Kentucky Kingdom and Coast Rider at Knott's Berry Farm. Both with shin guards, what are the differences do you know between the shin guards on Lightning Run and the shin guards on Coast Rider? I saw in photos the two shin guards are put to come to the shins of riders keeping them safe to give the rides on both Lightning Run and Coast Rider.
Coast Rider's will dig into riders, causing pain.

Coast Rider's dig into shins. Lightning Run's go around shins.
is this better then LECH Coaster in your opinion? LECH is the only good ride I have been on, so it's the one I compare everything too.
I think I prefer Lech. This ride has better airtime, but Lech is more intense with all those positive forces.

The ride has some strong positives at the bottom of the drop, 3.9, and -1.4gs at its least.
I saw a ride force plot recently of the return run approaching -2 Gs.

Coast Rider's shin guards are awful. The ones on Cannibal and Lightning Run are fine.

Of all roller coasters with shin guards you've ridden in the world, did you find all of them tolerable?
Not all of them. Coast Rider is the worst offender with shin guards.
I think another reason more coasters of this type haven't been build is that the track design is also very reminiscnent of old Arrow or Vekoma coasters. And therefore, the GP seeing a new coaster of this model might associate this with Arrow or Vekoma coasters where they might have had a bad experience. And thus, the coaster gets less attractive. And thereby, the coaster will bring in fewer new guests
I'm not sure if the track gauge is enough to deter guests.

In spirit this is a arrow. Same track, ame trains. I feel like this is what arrow would be building right now if they were arround. Sad that they are gone.
The only Arrow this smooth was Tennessee Tornado.

Probably because these are safer and more restrictive for ejector airtime.

I'd love to see one of these in Italy, since we lack a coaster focused on airtime... However, I get the point you make towards the end: how can a park advertise a model like this? Most airtime moments in Italy? GPs don't even know what airtime is...

I love watching your videos but please try to use a wider vocabulary for describing airtime moments than just "pop." It's a small complaint but it gets repetitive and a little annoying after hearing it a lot of times. Great review otherwise, keep it up!
