The drain plug was not installed on most transmissions to eliminate a possible source for leak. The dipstick was removed because they sell that transmission to other manufacturers across the world. This eliminates the other manufacturers to design their own dipstick for their vehicle.
On these newer tranny's And I found out this from BSM motors {FordMakeULocal } Channel here on you tube -Brian has stated that the old design used Steel Balls in the valve train -not the solenoid mind you. The newer tranny's use rubber balls and one in particular will wear as it ages and shrink over time and eventually get stuck in its seat and this seems to be a issue that can cause shifting problems. The only way to fix this is to again remove the valve body split the two haves apart and replace the rubber balls . Just food for thought for you and to all those reading my comment.
I have a good friend that is a Master Ford Tech and he told me a few years back that the 6R80’s have a solenoid that bypasses the trans cooler until it gets up to a predetermined temperature. He said with a fresh trans, it can end up being 1 to 2 quarts low if it doesn’t circulate through the cooler. I always drive one of these about 10 miles and raise it back up to check the level again without ever shutting the truck off. I’ve had several that were a quart low..
I think it’s brilliant that you replaced that filter with no cost to the customer because you determined it was a known issue for that fault code. Most places wouldn’t do that. ❤

Hi Kenny actually the filter does look different, the intake tube at11:35 is shaped different.I believe the 4 out facing bumps keep the filter in place by pushing up from the pan, then the suction tube sits in the sump of the pan.Often times the cheaper filters are sometimes paper mesh instead of superfine brass mesh. And they can also go with a totally different mesh size.that might allow larger particulates into the solenoids or valve-body piston bores causing issues. This model has a lot of solenoids.,good luck.

If you go inside an engine or transmission or if its electrical use OEM only. Also the Lead Frame is under special coverage dealership changes it free of charge.
I just had a recall on my 2014 f 150 for a transmission problem they came out and reprogram it and checked for codes it didn’t have any if it had they said it would have to replace solenoid inside of transmission.
The P0731, P0732, P0733, P0734, and P0735 engine diagnostic trouble codes all indicate that the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected that the specified gear has a gear ratio that is in some way different from the default standard for that vehicle.
Tip, If you plan a long journey say 2,000 Km or 1,200 miles do get any work that needs doing done a few weeks vefore traveling and not a few days beforehand. Why? Because it will give a chance for any fault to show itself. If for any reason something was missed or not done correctly.
A lot of times on the Fords you'll get a gear ratio code in all the gears particularly used to see a lot on the 5r55e in the rangers and some of the sport tracks I guess in the explorers and the problem was caused by a stainless steel servo pin that wore the aluminum housing a couple of companies have remanufactured servo pins that have an expandable rubber section or nylon section and the oil flows in through a hole added at the end through the piston and causes that nylon area to sweat out and seal itself and that usually solves the problem it's simple and it can be installed with the pan removed it's right there if your clothes are showing discrepancies in all of the gears for ratio that's usually what it's going to be
Good morning Mr Kenny, hope you have a great day. Thank you for the video, and I'll definitely remember this issue about the after market filter. Learn something every day lol and I'll be 60 next month 😊
I use one of those giant square transmission funnels on top of my oil pan with the coarse sponge in there for my oil changes and such since i always seem to miss the pan LOL and hate dropping drain plugs into oil pan also lets filters drain on there.
40 odd years ago, when I would change oil n filter in an automatic transmission I would do so after taking the machine for a run and oil was hot. This did 2 things,. Made the oil more viscus or more free flowing So more oil dropped into bucket. 2 It Kept any dirt from clutches seals etc in suspension in the oil. So all or most dirt grit came out with the oil.
In my day (20 + years ago) it was based upon TISS & TOSS sensors. TISS Transmission input sensor and TOSS Transmission output sensor. Maybe you have dirt or something in the teeth that the sensor uses or possibly a bad sensor. Just a thought. It could also be internal transmission failure due to slippage.
Probably could have got that transmission up the temperature quicker buy driving a bit even going around the parking lot or around the block a couple of times 👍
I am about to do this on a BTRE 4spd. First thing I have done is find another sump pan and put a Universal Drain Plug in it. Looking forward to the Second Service, not the First 😂
on my own vehicles.i put a drain plug in the pan.for easier fluid & filter changes in the future.its worth the time & effort to eliminate most of the mess.
does that transmission have a prndle switch? some transmissions have a prndle switch on the outside of the transmission that has a plastic tab that breaks off so the transmission thinks its in gear because the tab being broken cant advance the switch.
Great engineering by Ford. Put the hot catalytic converter right next to the transmission dipstick! Nice way to keep the dyi guys from working on their own cars!
I have no ideal how much a liter is i still stuck in quarts and gallons and not changing you right i have always been a little over full on my cars never any trouble
By looking at the mileage on the tranny, I wouldn't be spending too much time on it before I considered an overhaul because even a bad seal on a solenoid can cause that with some transmissions. I guess my first option would be to see if there is an update needed or possibly reprogrammed. Good luck but let us know.

Does CHINA trash strike again? I know genuine OEM parts are more expensive but my experience says to use them especially on Toyota's! I'm not saying ALL aftermarket stuff is bad but I am having trouble finding good parts.
So how does the average car owner check the fluid level and add fluid to his transmission? I can't see putting in a traditional dipstick and tube adding much to the cost of factory assembly. So one more step to keep many people from fixing their own car.
Years ago the manufacturers got tired of people adding snake oil to their transmissions and then taking them in to the dealers for "warranty repair" Same thing goes for folks changing to a "premium" auto trans fluid , because "Red Line " or "Royal Purple" or "Super Chartreuse" is "better" , and then finding out that "Better" Universal Fluid isn't always better . Sometimes it's just different enough to foul things up. Eliminating dipstick tubes was partly self-defense on their part , and partly greed, making getting them serviced becoming a job that only the dealer could do.
Vehicles have become so convoluted, if you had a requirement list of what you can really not do without , it’s a mental exercise I’ve done often. Ever since the japanese cars started with front wheel drive, and before? then all manufacturers began to go nuts with gadgets and marketing ploys? Most of the electronic this and that. My two cents. I would do a pan drop and change the filter and about 6 litres of fluid. Removing the pan removes a lot of material (metal) that can affect the electric connections for the solenoids. If it starts to slip either add some modifiers or save the liquid that was dropped and reuse it. I would suggest a lot of transmissions are overfilled after a fluid change- this results in foaming and therefore slipping of the clutch discs.

I could never understand why the manufacturers cannot put a simple drain plug in the transmission oil pans. 🤔
maybe so people don't drain the wrong pan i heard horror stories of people draining transmission and double filling oil then driving away.

Hello. I would check the solenoid pack especially the pressure solenoid. I have had the same issue with my Ford and this fried my transmission.
Did you check the seal for the filter into the valve body? It could be someone pulled the seal/bushing out and scraped the aluminum.
